• How to restrict this function from execution in android? Please help

  This code is present in one of this activity. I want to restrict addJoke() function from executing if the String variable new_joke is null, has no text or contains just spaces.   I'm trying to store a list of generic objects in a generic list, but I'm having difficulty declaring it. My object looks like: public class Field<T> { public string Name { get; set; } public string Description { get; set; } public T Value { get; set; } /* ... */ } I'd like to create a list of these. My problem is that each object in the list can have a separate type, so that the populated list could contain something like this: { Field<DateTime>, Field<int>, Field<double>, Field<DateTime> } So how do I declare that? List<Field<?>> (I'd like to stay as typesafe as possible, so I don't want to use an ArrayList).

I have to read the lines from exit after the execution of this application but it says "permission denied", as if the its not been done correctly.   I need to parse the contents of a string that represents a time period. The format of the string is value/unit, e.g.: 1s, 60min, 24h. I would separate the actual value (an int) and unit (a str) to separated variables.   Hello, Hopefully my title was descriptive enough to attract the right help. I want to write a function that will return 1 thing, and modify a provided pointer in another. My current function declaration is . . . char * afterURL replaceURLS(char * body) What I want to do is copy all of body's data into a new string, and set body to point to this new data. I then want afterURL to point to a location within the new string. My issue is getting the actual pointer that is passed in to this function to point to the new data. Thanks in advance! Rob

  Hello, I have the following code to export a zip file: byte[] buffer = FileUtil.FileToByteArray(zipLocation, true); // push the memory data to the client. _ctx.Response.ContentType = "application/zip"; _ctx.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", String.Format("attachment; filename={0}", String.Format("map{0}.zip", mapId))); _ctx.Response.BinaryWrite(buffer); This code works great. After every export I get a perfectly made zipfile. The problem however is that when I try to import it, the mimetype sometimes is "application/empty". Now I wonder how can I ensure that the mimetype is always added? Cheers, M.

  Morning all Now I know there is a reason to this odering but my tiny little brain can't get my head around it.   Hi, I have some code where the model contains some classes like (vb.net pseudocode, but could be any OO language): Enum AttributeType Boolean Date String End Enum MustInherit Class Attibute Must Override Function Type As AttributeType End Class Class BooleanAttribute: Attribute Function Type As AttributeType Return AttributeType.Boolean End Function End Class And the view contains some code like: Select Case AttributeType Case Boolean //Display checkbox control Case Date //Display date picker control Case String //Display textbox control End Select I don't really like the code in the view, for the hopefully obvious reasons (what happens when I get a new attribute type etc). My question is, how should I replace it? I could easily add a method to the concrete classes, but that pollutes the model with UI stuff so that's a horrible idea. I could move the select into a factory, but that seems to be just hiding the problem. Can anybody advise a better approach?

  I know this insanely simple, but I am re-teaching myself the basics and trying to get my head around this:-) I have one ViewController called MainVC and I have one called ClassVC In ClassVC I have this code: @interface ClassVC : UIViewController { NSString *mainLine; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *mainLine; @end and I have this in the implementation file: @synthesize mainLine = _mainLine; -(NSString *)_mainLine { _mainLine = @"This a string from a Class"; return _mainLine; } Now I was thinking that if I #import the ClassVC into MainVC I would be able to transfer that string along as well like so: This code is in the viewDidLoad _mainLabel.text = _secondClass.mainLine; NSLog(@"%@", _secondClass.mainLine); But that is not working - so cannot I not pass strings in through this way???

  I try to lead the types from an .dll (which is also referenced in the executing project). The public static void LoadPlugin(string pluginFile) method is located in other assembly that is also referenced in the executing project. No exceptions are thrown. What could be the issues for not loading all the types? Any ideas?

Main problem is : is it better to create new class (which would have only one property - like opt A:) or to create a new class derived - like opt B: ? • RTL shows numbers at the end of lines

Trying to display a hebrew string that starts with a number, always displays the number at the end of the string like so: 1. ??? ???? ????? but I need the number to be displayed at the right side of the text- any solution to that? It happens with UILabel & UITextField & UITextView and trying to write the number at the left side also produce the same resault. Playing with combinations of UITextAlignment will doesn't help.

• Deploying WPF applications with SQL Server

  Ok so I'm developing a WPF application that makes heavy use of SQL Server. I've been asked to create an installer package that checks whether the client already has SQL Server Express 2005 already installed, his operating system (64bit Vs x86) and install the required SQL Server instance if needed. I'm then required to automatically map my App.config's connection string to the SQL Server's connection string and run a script to create my database. Is it just me, or does this look like a lot of hard work? Any idea where to start? Edit: Ok should I move to SQL Server Compact edition? Thanks!

My C++ library is compiled as Multi Threaded DLL with MultiByte encoding. Any help would be appreciated. I saw this is a common problem online but no answers lead me to a solution for my problem.

  I have one Map that contains some names and numbers Map<String,Integer> abc = new TreeMap<String,Integer>(); It works fine. I can put some values in it but when I call it in different class it gives me wrong order. For example: I putted abc.put("a",1); abc.put("b",5); abc.put("c",3); some time it returns the order (b,a,c) and some time (a,c,b). What is wrong with it? Is there any step that I am missing when I call this map?

• Why can't i call Contains method from my array?

  Arrrg!I am running into what i feel is a dumb issue with a simple script i'm writing in powershell. I am invoking a sql command that is calling a stored proc, with the results i put it a array. The results look something like this: Status ProcessStartTime ProcessEndTime ------ ---------------- -------------- Expired May 22 2010 8:31PM May 22 2010 8:32PM What i'm trying to do is if($s.Contains("Expired")) , report failed. Simple...? :( Problem i'm running into is it looks like Contains method is not being loaded as i get an error like this: Method invocation failed because [System.Object[]] doesn't contain a method named 'Contains'. At line:1 char:12 + $s.Contains <<<< ("Expired") + CategoryInfo : InvalidOperation: (Contains:String) [], RuntimeException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : MethodNotFound So, what can i do to stop powershell from unrolling it to string? • [c#] SoundPlayer.PlaySync stopping prematurely

  I want to play a wav file synchronously on the gui thread, but my call to PlaySync is returning early (and prematurely stopping playback). The wav file is 2-3 minutes. I tried lengthening the load timeout, but that did nothing. I'm not quite sure what the best way to get the duration of a wav file is without using code written by somebody who isn't me/Microsoft. I suppose this can be calculated since I know the file size, and all of the encoding properties (bitrate, sample rate, sample size, etc) are consistent across all files I intend to play. Can somebody elaborate on how to calculate the duration of a wav file using this info? That is, if nobody has an idea about why PlaySync is returning early. Of Note: I encountered a similar problem in VB 6 a while ago, but that was caused by a timeout, which I don't suspect to be a problem here. Shorter (< 1min) files seem to play fine, so I might decide to manually edit the longer files down, then play them separately with multiple calls.

• Proper mechanism for sending PHP errors to the client

  Greetings, I was trying to discover a proper way to send captured errors or business logic exceptions to the client in an Ajax-PHP system. In my case, the browser needs to react differently depending on whether a request was successful or not. However in all the examples I've found, only a simple string is reported back to the browser in both cases. Eg: if (something worked) echo "Success!"; else echo "ERROR: that failed"; So when the browser gets back the Ajax response, the only way to know if an error occurred would be to parse the string (looking for 'error' perhaps). This seems clunky. Is there a better/proper way to send back the Ajax response & notify the browser of an error? Thank you.
