  • Recordset Update errors when updating sql_variant field

    I'm using C++ and ADO to add data to a SQL Server 2005 database. When calling the Recordset Update method for a sql_variant column I'm getting the error DB_E_ERRORSOCCURRED and the error message Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done. If the value I'm adding is NULL all works fine and all values going to the fields that are not sql_variant types work. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks [Edit] I have some more information. The value we are storing is the empty string - ADO appears to want to store this in the sql_variant as a nchar(0), which of course is not a valid SQL data type. Is there a way to get an empty string in a sql_variant using the ADO batch commands?

    Possible Duplicate: Property Name and need its value Hi, This one should be easy for most people. I'd like to access a normal variable in an object (let's say example) by using a variable value. E.g.: I have a an array with a list of variable names and I want to get the information from the object by using them. Obviously this is wrong: string[] variable_names = new string[] {"name", "surname"}; myObject.variable_names[0] = 1; myObject.variable_names[1] = 1; In other languages (not C#) I use: myObject[variable_names[0]] = 1; I know the example looks stupid but it was just a way of explaining it.   • Long URLs (Bitly and TinyURL)

    I'm sitting with a problem where I need to pass more than 2000 characters from my Flash application to an HTML page which reads the information and displays the correct options made in the Flash app the person came from. All's good but on the final stage, when the user needs to post their choices to a form, the character cannot be sent because the string is too long. Is there a way to use a service such as Bitly or TinyURL to send these long string and for them to be "deconstruction" on the other end when the form is sent? Otherwise, is there another solution to this problem? Many thanks!

  • Passing derived objects in a constructure

    This is a bit of a convoluted question, hopefully I can make it clear. I am finding that this may not be possible, but am trying to see if anybody has a solution. I have four classes, two are core classes and two are those core classes extended: extUser Extends coreUser extSecurity Extends coreSecurity In the constructor for coreUser you have this: public coreUser(string id, ref coreSecurity cs) When trying to extend coreUser you would have this: public extUser(string id ref extSecurity es) : base(id, ref es) This fails because es is of type, extSecurity and the base class expects a type of coreSecurity. I've not found anyway to cast this to allow for me to override this base class in C#. In VB it works just fine. Ideas?

    I am having a table called SubMaster_Accounts, which contains 9 fields. In which I want to insert data to some fields and i want to store some other fields as NULL. I tried to write the query using query string, The sql query works perfectly when i insert the data for all the fields, but when i insert data as NULL to some of the fields it shows syntax error in Insert command. The fields which i want to insert as NULL are not constraints. How can i do it?   • Dynamic access to tables from another database inside an user function

    I have an user defined table function in SQL Server that aggregate data from several tables including a couple of tables of another database. That is done hardcoding the name of the database in the queries, but we want to make the database name configurable (because our databases usually share the server with the databases of other applications). I tried to construct a dynamic query string inside the function using the database name that is stored in a configuration table, but: When I tried exec(@sqlStatement) SQL Server said that execute string is not allowed inside a function. Then I tried exec sp_executesql @sqlStatement and the function was created, but when you execute it SQL Server says that inside a function you can only run extended functions and procedures. So the question is: is possible create a function or stored procedure that access a table in another database without having to recreate the function when the database name is different? TIA.

And when I use hbm2ddl to generate the ddls, I can have this table, along with the foreign key constraint on "user_id". However, there is no index of this for this column. And I need this index. How can I let hibernate to generate this index for me? Thank you!

    I am trying to pass a few NULL values to a stroed procedure but PHP always retains the varaibles to be empty strings '' and not NULL. My DB insert function looks like this. (I am using a Framework and ADODB so if it looks weird thats why). function insert_emp($f_name, $last_name, $dob) { if(!isset($dob)){ $dob = NULL; } $this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('$f_name', '$l_name', '$dob')"); } I have ensured that $dob is being passed an empty string ''. But for some reason when it calls the stored proc it is not changed to NULL. dob is a datetime field and mysql complains that you can not enter an empty string as a DATETIME. If I hard code the insert such as this $this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('Test1', 'Test2', 'NULL')"); it will work. Thanks for the help.

  • Warning on standard headers after upgrading to NetBeans 6.8...

    After upgrading to NetBeans 6.8 on my Mac, some standard headers generate a warning. The warning is "There are unresolved includes inside <string>". <string> is just an example and <iostream> and <map> have the same warning. The project builds and runs fine; however, I would like to resolve these warnings. Has anybody else seen this problem? And is there any way to make that warning go away? I also didn't see this problem when I upgraded to 6.8 on Linux.

If I start my app on reboot, MyApp crashes after few seconds. Why I've this problem?
