    I have an user defined table function in SQL Server that aggregate data from several tables including a couple of tables of another database. That is done hardcoding the name of the database in the queries, but we want to make the database name configurable (because our databases usually share the server with the databases of other applications). I tried to construct a dynamic query string inside the function using the database name that is stored in a configuration table, but: When I tried exec(@sqlStatement) SQL Server said that execute string is not allowed inside a function. Then I tried exec sp_executesql @sqlStatement and the function was created, but when you execute it SQL Server says that inside a function you can only run extended functions and procedures. So the question is: is possible create a function or stored procedure that access a table in another database without having to recreate the function when the database name is different? TIA.

  • poplib and email module will not reloop through a message if it has alread read it

    I'm currently trying to write a script that gets messages from my gmail account but I'm noticing a problem. If poplib loops through a message in my inbox it will never loop through it again.     I have to parse a String that can assume hex values or other non-hex values 0xff, 0x31 or A, PC, label, and so on. I use this code to divide the two cases: String input = readInput(); try { int hex = Integer.decode(input); // use hex ... } catch (NumberFormatException e) { // input is not a hex, continue parsing } Can this code be considered "ugly" or difficult to read? Are there other (maybe more elegant) solutions? EDIT : I want to clarify that (in my case) a wrong input doesn't exist: i just need to distinguish if it is a hex number, or not. And just for completeness, i'm making a simple assebler for DCPU-16.

    I continue to work on a printer for F# quoted expressions, it doesn't have to be perfect, but I'd like to see what is possible. The active patterns in Microsoft.FSharp.Quotations.Patterns and Microsoft.FSharp.Quotations.DerivedPatterns used for decomposing quoted expressions will typically provide MemberInfo instances when appropriate, these can be used to obtain the name of a property, function, etc. and their "declaring" type, such as a module or static class. The problem is, I only know how to obtain the CompiledName from these instances but I'd like the F# name. For example, > <@ List.mapi (fun i j -> i+j) [1;2;3] @> |> (function Call(_,mi,_) -> mi.DeclaringType.Name, mi.Name);; val it : string * string = ("ListModule", "MapIndexed") How can this match be rewritten to return ("List", "mapi")?     I'm trying to evaluate C# code as it gets typed, think of it as if I'm trying to write an IDE. So a person types code, I want to find out what code did he just write: String x = ""; I want to now register that x is a type of String. And now everytime the user types x again, and I want to show him all the things he can do with x, basically like Visual Studio Intellisense. Will I need some lexers or parsers for this? Will that make it easier? I've heard VS 2010 has some features around this that Microsoft has released. Any ideas?

    Hi, I making a eclipse view that is working with selected elements from other views. Let say I have opened a java file in the editor that has the following fields in it: private String world = " world!" private String hello = "hello" + world; When I select "hello" in the Outline view I'm able to get IFiled selection and I have access to it's properties, but what i need is the true value of the field ("hello world!"). I have the following login service implementation: @Service("loginService") public class LoginServiceImpl extends RemoteServiceServlet implements LoginService { @Override @Transactional(propagation = Propagation.REQUIRED, rollbackFor = Exception.class) public UserBean checkUser(String userName, String password) throws Exception { HttpSession httpSession = getThreadLocalRequest().getSession(); } } When i call the loginService.checkUser("test","test") (In hosted mode), I get a null pointer exception, as getThreadLocalRequest() returns NULL instead of the actual session. I didn't try in web mode yet. Why would I get a null session ? Does it have something to do with spring4gwt ? Thank you

  • Passing NULL values into mysql Stored procedure

    I am trying to pass a few NULL values to a stroed procedure but PHP always retains the varaibles to be empty strings '' and not NULL. My DB insert function looks like this. (I am using a Framework and ADODB so if it looks weird thats why). function insert_emp($f_name, $last_name, $dob) { if(!isset($dob)){ $dob = NULL; } $this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('$f_name', '$l_name', '$dob')"); } I have ensured that $dob is being passed an empty string ''. But for some reason when it calls the stored proc it is not changed to NULL. dob is a datetime field and mysql complains that you can not enter an empty string as a DATETIME. If I hard code the insert such as this $this->DB->setConnection("CALL insert_emp('Test1', 'Test2', 'NULL')"); it will work. Thanks for the help.

    I have two projects : Menu and Module and they are both in the same namespace foobar. I am currently referencing the module project from the Menu project to open up certain controls on a tab control in my menu. However I need to launch a new control from one of my controls which is located in the Module project. When I try referencing the menu project, it does not show up in my intellisense when I try to reference it with a using. Am I doing something wrong logically here?   • C++ - Efficient way to iterate over the contents of a vector?

    Hello, everyone! I am implementing a text-based version of Scrabble for a college project. I have a vector containing around 400K strings (my dictionary), and, at some point in every turn, I'm going to have to check if any word in the dictionary can be formed with the pieces in the player's hand. My only solution to this is iterating through the string, one by one, and using a sub-routine I have to check if the string in question can be formed from the player's pieces. I'll implement a quickfail checking if the user has any vowels, but it'll still be woefully inefficient. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time!

  • Recordset Update errors when updating sql_variant field

    I'm using C++ and ADO to add data to a SQL Server 2005 database. When calling the Recordset Update method for a sql_variant column I'm getting the error DB_E_ERRORSOCCURRED and the error message Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done. If the value I'm adding is NULL all works fine and all values going to the fields that are not sql_variant types work. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks [Edit] I have some more information. The value we are storing is the empty string - ADO appears to want to store this in the sql_variant as a nchar(0), which of course is not a valid SQL data type. Is there a way to get an empty string in a sql_variant using the ADO batch commands?

    I am using in_array, and I'm trying to use it in a way where it will only return true if it's an exact match of one of the objects in the array, not just if it's "in" the array. e.g. 1. $sample_array = array('123', '234', '345'); 2. $sample_array = array('23', '34', '45'); in_array('23', $sample_array); In the above example, I would only want version 2 to return true, because it has the exact string, '23'. Version 1 returns true as well though, because the array contains instances of the string '23'. How would I get this to work so that only version 2 returns true? Am I even using the right function?

I tried to write the query using query string, The sql query works perfectly when i insert the data for all the fields, but when i insert data as NULL to some of the fields it shows syntax error in Insert command. The fields which i want to insert as NULL are not constraints. How can i do it?
