• MySQL: Limit output according to associated ID

  So here's my situation. I have a books table and authors table. An author can have many books... In my authors page view, the user (logged in) can click an author in a tabled row and be directed to a page displaying the author's books (collected like this URI format: viewauthorbooks.php?author_id=23), very straight forward... However, in my query, I need to display the books for the author only, and not all books stored in the books table (as i currently have!) As I am a complete novice, I used the most simple query of: SELECT * FROM tasks_tb This returns the books for me, but returns every single value (book) in the database, and not ones associated with the selected author. And when I click a different author the same books are displayed for them...I think everyone gets what I'm trying to achieve, I just don't know how to perform the query. I'm guessing that I need to start using more advanced query clauses like INNER JOIN etc. Anyone care to help me out :)

• How Do I Rollout WP-Cache To 1000 WordPress Blogs?

  My client has 1000 WordPress blogs hosted on a server for customers. Each one is in its own domain through cpanel and SuPHP, running in CGI mode on Apache2.2. Now he wants me (I'm the PHP programmer) to get WP-Cache loaded out on each of these blogs and not just activated, but enabled. He also wants the timeout value set to 2 days instead of the default setting. I have root on LAMP. What is the preferred way to roll out an update to each blog such that on a page view, it sees if WP-Cache is enabled or not. If not, it needs to copy it out from a central source, activate it, and then enable it along with the different timeout value being used.

• Does Quartz2D test intersection of rect by line before drawing it.

  I'm drawing a big scheme that consist of a lot of lines. I do it in the drawRect: method of UIView. The scheme is larger than the layer of view and I check each line and draw it only if it intersects the visible rect. But at one moment I thought, should I do this? Maybe Quartz is already doing this test? So the question is: When I use function CGContextAddLineToPoint() does the Core Graphics tests this line for intersection with layer rect or it just draw it anyway?

• Waiting for a background operation to complete

  I have been suffering from the all too common 'Waiting for a background operation to complete...' message in Visual Studio 2012 (Professional) for a while now but it has been fairly sporadic. Lately though, I am really struggling to use Visual Studio as pretty much whenever i try and do anything with any Razor views (mostly clicking to move the cursor) visual studio hangs and the above message appears for about a minute at a time. (If when its finished doing stuff i then click in the view again, the process repeats, and repeats, and repeats.....) I have searched high and low, and read loads of articles regarding this and peoples suggestions and tried changing indentation settings, resetting settings, etc but none have worked. Has anyone come across something else that may work as this is seriously impeding my ability to use visual studio and sadly provoking much cursing.

• Developing web app, question for mobile developers

  I'm going to develop a web app that I expect some people will also end up wanting to view on their phones. The UI will be fairly straightforward (no frames, just CSS/HTML). May have a bit of Flash, but not for the first version. My question is, for testing viewing of the web app on mobile devices what devices would you recommend that I test on (and thus, most likely, have to purchase)? Windows Mobile iPhone Android Other? or can I use emulators for any/all of these? Note that I'm not developing a platform (android, iPhone) specific app, just a web application that I expect will also be accessed from a mobile phone. I apologise if this seems like a niave/stupid question, but this hobby project is totally away from my commercial experience and I just don't know the answers to these questions, hence asking here. • Magento: custom module layout override not working

  I have a small custom module which is supposed to show on all product pages, but it doesn't. It only shows when setting its reference to "content", but I want it to display witin the already existing product view divs, thus, display it within the "product.info" reference. I have baked the model lecturer (file) I have baked the controller lecturers_controller (file) I have baked the view lecturers (folder) I need to override the default layout but I want to add YUI 3 accordion sothat the table name lecturers will be on top, after clicking on the top division it will slidedown and will show me the column name of lecturer table. Is there anyone who could suggest me how to integrate the YUI 3 accordion - Do I have to write a helper for this or simply after copying the YUI 3 library I could code this in the default.ctp file. I am really confused as I could hardly get a full tutorial on this topic. Thank you in advance ................

• Django: How/Where to store a value for a session without unnecessary DB hits

  Hi all, I have an extended userprofile with AUTH_PROFILE_MODULE (ref: http://tinyurl.com/yhracqq) I would like to set a user.is_guru() method similar to user.is_active(). This would results for al views (or rather templates) to e.g. disable/enable certain user messages, displaying of widgets, etc. The boolean is stored in the extended user profile model, but I want to avoid hitting the DB for every view. So the questions is .. Do I use a context_processor, a template tag, session_dict or what have you to, possible cached, store this info for the duration of the users visit. Note: I dont have performance issues, so it's definitely filed under premature optimization. I just want to avoid generating extra work in the future :). Any pointers are very welcome. • Do you use a grid system when designing a web page?

  I'm trying to figure out why I would use a grid system. I have read some but I just don't get it. I'm used to just putting stuff in html on a page and beind done with it but I have a new project and would like to use a grid because apparently it is a best practice. I read in one article referenced in another SO question and it said that grid design was in all sorts of development, even application form design. That made me think of things like snap to grid, etc. and I didn't know if the grid in the web design sphere was the same. I was hoping someone could give me a brief but not overly complicated view and not a link to Google which I have used already. Thank you for any help.

• Can I set a style for the content of an iframe from the main page?

  We have a page the embeds a Google Calendar in an iframe. Recently, a warning box div began appearing on the calendar that looks like this: <div id="warningBox" style="color:#aa0000;">Events from one or more calendars could not be shown here because you do not have the permission to view them.</div> Obviously the best solution here is to find the private events and remove them, but so far the search for those events has proved fruitless. This calendar is an aggregate of several calendars, including a few we don't control (ie weather). We're still looking, but in the meantime, I would like to try to hide that div. I know that iframes enforce the separation between the pages, such that the child page is pretty much a law unto itself. But surely there must be some way to set a style on an element inside the frame?

• How do I get a title or some text to appear in a Silverlight mediaplayer when switching to FullScree

  I am working on an ASP.NET website with VB.NET code-behind. I have a Silverlight mediaplayer object on one of the pages and the user may view that video in FullScreen mode. When changing to full-screen mode they are losing the title and chapter of the video series they are viewing. I have tried accessing properties and searched the web for examples on how I could put a title or some text over the player when in FullScreen mode to give the user an indication of where they are currently at while viewing each video. I am using OnClientMediaEnded to move through the videos after each video has ended so they are able to watch the whole series once in FullScreen mode. I am using a call to javascript in with this method to do that and want to know if there is any way to get a title or text up there and then change once the video switches to the next in the series? The controls on the player also go away when going into FullScreen mode so any help with that would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks

  Hey all, I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 and trying to run a Java program I wrote whose source code is located on a remote machine. I'm using ssh to connect using the following command from the terminal: ssh -X username@hostname When running the program, one of the GUI frames has its buttons missing from view, but they are clickable and work as expected when I can guess accurately where they are. Running the code from my local machine they are present, and running from another windows machine using X-Windows they are present. Been trying to solve this problem for a few hours now but to no avail. Anyone have any helpful insight how to resolve this issue? Thanks!

  Is it possible to add an image(view) on top of a button (which as a background image)? I'm porting an iOS app to Android and it wasn't a problem on iOS, but I'm wondering if it is the right approach on Android because of layouts. • Non US characters in section headers for a UITableView

  I have added a section list for a simple Core Data iPhone app. I followed this so question to create it - How to use the first character as a section name but my list also contain items starting with characters outside A-Z, specially Å,Ä and Ö used here in Sweden. The problem now is that when the table view shows the section list the three last characters are drawn wrong. See image below It seems like my best option right now is to let those items be sorted under 'Z' if ([letter isEqual:@"Å"] || [letter isEqual:@"Ä"] || [letter isEqual:@"Ö"]) letter = @"Z"; Someone that have figured this one out? And while I'm at it... 'Å', 'Ä' and 'Ö' should be sorted in that order but are sorted as 'Ä', 'Å' and 'Ö' by Core Data NSSortDescriptor. I have tried to set set the selector to localizedCaseInsensitiveCompare: but that gives a out of order section name 'Ä. Objects must be sorted by section name' error. Seen that too?

• numberOfSectionsInTableView is requested in/after viewDidLoad ONLY if tableview is empty

  A simple tableviewController, empty. A modal that can be launched from a button. No data in the data source for the tableview, and no rows displayed. I open the modal, use it to add an item, and return to the tableview controller. The tableview updates itself automatically, and the new row is displayed. I add a second item. The table view does NOT update automatically. I can tell by logging inside numberOfSectionsInTableView that even if I go to add the first item and cancel, the tableview refreshes - it asks for the number of sections, rows, and the cell to display (if there is one). But not if there is one pre-existing row in the table. I've scoured my code but can't find anything that would cause the tableview to know when the first item is added, but none afterwards. Any ideas? EDIT - I have further narrowed my issue so will close this shortly and post a more specific question

  Hi all, I am curious about the security of PHP on an HTML webpage where PHP code is embedded (a webpage that would exist on the server as "webpage.php") or on a PHP script that may be referenced by an HTML page (that is, a PHP script that is not actually part of a webpage that exists on the server as "something.php" and is referenced by "webpage.html"). Getting to the point, let us say that if the source code of my PHP script is known by anyone it would be a very big problem. I know that when you view the source of a PHP page in a browser the PHP script is not shown, but what if the PHP server failed and the HTML still loaded (is this even possible), would a user be able to see the PHP script? To be more general, is there ANY possible way that a user could access the source of a PHP script from a web browser, and if so, how do I prevent it?

  I've begun watching a series of first year lectures from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia, and I'm a bit perplexed by the instructors explanation of how an SRAM gate works. I realize this isn't exactly "programming-related" but since it comes from a series of lectures relating to computing and programming, I thought StackOverflow may be able to help (reddit failed me entirely). In this lecture beginning at around 32:12, Richard (the lecturer) tries to explain how a "latch gate" works within SRAM. Although his students seem to keep up, I feel I'm missing something crucial which is preventing the concept from really "clicking" in my brain. The question is how should my (ideally fluent) mappings look like here? It is not necessary (from my point of view) for Hour class to have Id or be accessible from some kind of repository.

• Gen folder disappearing in Eclipse Android project

  I'm just getting started developing for Android and I'm running into a weird problem. First off, I'm running Eclipse for Java devs v3.5.2 with the Android 2.1 SDK installed. Basically, whenever I do just about anything the "gen" (R.java, etc.) folder will just disappear from the project. I'm seen some people online say that it was still on the drive, just gone from the project listing in Eclipse, but in my case it is literally and completely gone. The only fix I've found is that if I refresh, then try to build, it gives an error and "gen" shows up in the project view (though it's not on the disk), then delete it from within the project, then Rebuild All and it will say that it cannot find it and is recreating it. Problem is, I have to do this every single time I want to build. There's got to be a fix for this.

  I am trying to add an object to an arraylist but when I view the results of the array list, it keeps adding the same object over and over to the arraylist. • Annoying Bug in banner cycle

  I have created a rotating banner script for a new site I'm developing View banner here(it rotates every 10 seconds) Unfortunately to the transition seems to be a biut buggy, and the image will fade out, show the same image again and then fade in the new one.   I am currently using a webview to load a webpage which contains lots of javascript and having lots of trouble debugging what exactly gets loaded and when in the webview . Then I saw this post where the op seems to be using apache log to monitor webpage load events in his webview. Enhance webView performance (should be the same performance as native Web Browser) Can I get a similar utility plugin or anything so that I can use it with logcat in ddms view. If possible please provide some resource as to how to configure it for android.
