  • Disable TSQL script check?

    - by grady
Hi, lets say I have a script like that: if(some condition) begin select somecolumn from sometable end Lets say, that "somecolumn" does not exist and the condition is not true, which means the select is NOT executed. Even though the select would not be executed, the script is not valid, Management Studio complains about the missing column "somecolumn". Question: Can I somehow disable this sort of check so that the script is executed and since the if is not true, it will never notice that the column is missing? Thanks :-)

  • Great Circle & Rhumb line intersection

    - by Karl T
I have a Latitude, Longitude, and a direction of travel in degrees true north. I would like to calculate if I will intersect a line defined by two more Lat/Lon points. I figure the two points defining the line would create my great circle and my location and azimuth would define my Rhumb line. I am only interested in intersections that will occur with a few hundred kilometers so I do not need every possible solution. I have no idea where to begin.

  • What does 'foo' really mean?

    - by Prakash
I hope this qualifies as a programming question, as in any programming tutorial, you eventually come across 'foo' in the code examples. (yeah, right?) what does 'foo' really mean? If it is meant to mean nothing, when did it begin to be used so? Cheers

  • C++ Using a class template argument as a template argument for another type

    - by toefel
    Hey Everyone, I'm having this problem while writing my own HashTable. It all works, but when I try to templatize the thing, it gave me errors. I recreated the problem as follows: THIS CODE WORKS: typedef double Item; class A { public: A() { v.push_back(pair<string, Item>("hey", 5.0)); } void iterate() { for(Iterator iter = v.begin(); iter != v.end(); ++iter) cout << iter->first << ", " << iter->second << endl; } private: vector<pair<string, double> > v; typedef vector< pair<string, double> >::iterator Iterator; }; THIS CODE DOES NOT: template<typename ValueType> class B { public: B(){} void iterate() { for(Iterator iter = v.begin(); iter != v.end(); ++iter) cout << iter->first << ", " << iter->second << endl; } private: vector<pair<string, ValueType> > v; typedef vector< pair<string, ValueType> >::iterator Iterator; }; the error messages: g++ -O0 -g3 -Wall -c -fmessage-length=0 -omain.o ..\main.cpp ..\main.cpp:50: error: type std::vector<std::pair<std::string, ValueType>, std::allocator<std::pair<std::string, ValueType> > >' is not derived from typeB' ..\main.cpp:50: error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of `iterator' with no type ..\main.cpp:50: error: expected `;' before "Iterator" ..\main.cpp: In member function `void B::iterate()': ..\main.cpp:44: error: `Iterator' was not declared in this scope ..\main.cpp:44: error: expected `;' before "iter" ..\main.cpp:44: error: `iter' was not declared in this scope Does anybody know why this is happening? Thanks!

  • How to run SQL that contains bind variables in the ODT Query Window?

    - by dnorthut
How do you run SQL that contains one or more bind variables in the Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio Query Window? For example, the following works fine in SQL*Plus: variable x NUMBER; BEGIN :x := 0; END; / SELECT 1 FROM DUAL WHERE :x <> 1; When executed in the ODT Query Window, the following exception is raised in the Query output pane: ERROR ORA-01008: not all variables bound

  • Power error handling inside of sql function

    - by user172062
I have a power function call inside of a sql function. What is the correct way to handle overflow and underflow conditions since I cannot use a Try Catch inside of a function. I am also trying to avoid modifying the ARITHABORT, ANSI_WARNINGS, and ARITHIGNORE settings in the calling code. GO CREATE FUNCTION TestPow() RETURNS DECIMAL(30, 14) AS BEGIN DECLARE @result FLOAT SET @result = POWER(10.0, 300) RETURN @result END GO SELECT dbo.TestPow()

  • SQLAlchemy - select for update example

    - by Mark
I'm looking for a complete example of using select for update in SQLAlchemy, but haven't found one googling. I need to lock a single row and update a column, the following code doesn't work (blocks forever): s = table.select(table.c.user=="test",for_update=True) u = table.update().where(table.c.user=="test") u.execute(email="foo") Do I need a commit? How do I do that? As far as I know you need to: begin transaction select ... for update update commit

  • Count white spaces to the left of a line in a text file using C++

    - by insertable
Hi all, I am just trying to count the number of white spaces to the LEFT of a line from a text file. I have been using count( line.begin(), line.end(), ' ' ); but obviously that includes ALL white spaces to the left, in between words and to the right. So basically what I'm wanting it to do is once it hits a non-space character stop it from counting the white spaces. Thanks everyone.
