• clean after incomplete / interrupted setup

  I have following question : If setup of some application A was interrupted , and name of it does not appear in Add| Remove program list .I tryed to use Windows Installer CleanUp Utility of Microsoft but if the item does not appear in Add | Remove , the Utility cannot be used . What is right way to remove remaining items from the system ? Your information will be very helpful . Thanks in advance

• Network error during uninstallation

  Hi, We are using WiX to create a setup. The installation works fine, but during uninstallation an error says that the [FileName].msi is missing in C:\Windows\Installer and the setup starts rolling back. It is not reproduced in all the machines. It happens only in few machines. Could someone please give a solution to this ? What may be the reason that this happens only in 5 machines out of some 100 machines ? Thanks and Regards, Varun

  I know it's possible to deploy earlier versions of the .NET framework using AD deployment, for example: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc160717.aspx. How do it do this for .NET 4? I tried unpacking the standalone .NET 4 installer and deploying the netfx_Extended_x86.msi package. This didn't work. After a reboot the event log shows that it tried but it failed to install with a message saying to run setup.exe.

  I'm using the following code to get the path where Word stores its templates: WordTemplatePath:=WordApp.Options.DefaultFilePath[$00000002]; The problem is that this returns the path for the actual, logged-in user. Is there a way to get the path for another user of the same Windows instance? I need it so my installer program can install the templates used by my program for other users as well.

• wix sfxca binding to CLR v 2.0 instead of v4.0

  Iam building managed custom actions using .net 4.0, but when i package the installer and run it,it fails giving me "assembly is built by newer version" error.   I have a file in a folder like this: installer-x86_64-XXX.XX-diagnostic.run The XXX.XX is a version number and I need the version number only. How to do it in linux? I have this code: #!/bin/bash current_ver=$(find /mnt/builds/current -name '*.run'|awk -F/ '{print $NF}') So this gives me just the name of the file correctly (minus the location, which I dont want). But how do I only get the XXX.XX version number into a variable such as $version

  I have an application that has drag and drop functionality to import images and video's. While developing, and testing through Visual Studio this has never given any problems. After installing through a set up project, everything in the application works fine, except the drag and drop, which seems to be doing nothing.   I have a Cocoa application which uses an installer. I want to be able to run code coverage over the code (after it has been installed). This is not the usual unit-test scenario where a single binary will run a suite of tests. Rather, the tests in question will interact with the UI and the app back-end whilst it is running, so I ideally want to be able to start the application knowing that Gcov is profiling it and then run tests against it.   .NET 4.0 is meant to run side-by-side with 3.5 and won't run 3.5 apps, which is making me worried about having to instruct my users to download .NET 3.5 instead of just "the latest version".   I'm trying to save an install path to the registry so my windows service will know where my other application was installed. I'm using visual studio's deployment to create a registry value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER, but my windows service which runs under LocalMachine doesn't have access to that. I then made the installer create a registry value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, but when I view the registry after the install it appears it never made the value. Any ideas?
