  • Howto play video with external audio in Silverlight?

    Hi all, Is there any proper method to play synchronously video and external audio, other than simply having two MediaElement (one for video source and one for audio) started simultaneously? I need to play video with different soundtracks, but I belive that just two separated MediaElements will be out of sync at some point of time. Maybe there is some way to add audio source to the existing MediaElement with video? Platform: SL3, but SL4 will be good as well. Thanks in advance.

    Hi all, I am building this iphone app for a client and they have a large set of flash video files that they need to play/stream to the iphone. I understand that the iphone doesnt natively support flv playback but isnt there anything I can do to get around this problem?     Is there a simple way to play some StoryBoad backward (reversed) ? As there is a method Storyboard.Begin() I would expect that there is some method like "Storyboard.BeginReversed()" but I cannot find it. If there is no way to play an animation backwards that I have to write for most of my animations complementary animations. That smells bad to me (code duplication of some kind). Basically I just animate a Grid that shows and than hides.

    I need to play, pause and resume AAC (audio) files from a ruby console program (much like iTunes or any music player). After much searching, I've come across these libraries: mp3info metadata id3lib-ruby rvideo (uses ffmpeg) These seem to help me in getting track length and tags which i also need, but I need something to play AAC (at least) and if possible other formats. I also must be able to pause and resume (so shelling a program like mpg321 is out).

  • Application not showing up in Google Play for 4.x devices

    I recently posted about the Play store not letting me publish my app without a minSdkVersion, but whenever I set it to anything above "1" my app just doesn't work (minSdkVersion breaking program). So this guy suggested to just set my minSdkVersion to 1, which worked. But now when I submitted my app even though the developer site says: API level: 1-16+ Supported screens: normal-xlarge OpenGL textures: all But the app only shows it supports Android under 4.x, I developed it on my 4.0.4 device. I tried searching around and I found that some people have problems with services messing up the phones it supports, so I deleted all of my services, because I don't really need any for this version of the app to submit. And it still didn't work. So I don't know what else to do, here is my AndroidManifest.xml if it helps... I've been trying to figure out why my application isn't working for a week now, still nothing. I have tried setting a targetSdkVersion to something like 14, my application still breaks. I cleaned out my code, taking everything out of the already short, 200 lines, application, and it still isn't working. Is there something I can't use in an android application 4.0 that I am using in my application? or is it just my AndroidManifest? When I did the same on my phone, Galaxy Note, it opened in the Google Play Store, but then said "Not compatible." Why? They are both on the same version of OS.   • Disable (or switch off) a network interface on windows but keep the "plug and play"

    I'm looking for a good workaround to do this on Windows 7 and Windows XP: Disable or make ineffective the network interface (ETH, WIFI, any NIC). If the user connect his ETH cable, the network interface enable again. Important Notes to take care: I'm working with wmic on Win7 (through the command line) I'm working with devcon on WinXP (through the command line) I'm specifically working with the .NET Framework 2.0 on C# but this is just for informational purposes. I know that an event won't help me to detect it (if there is a way or workaround to do this I don't know it). The real problem is that when I disable the NIC, I can't know if the user connects his cable or has a wired network. This is why I am looking for a workaround. I'll treat suggestions as answers if no direct answer exists. I'll provide any extra detail necessary.

  • Is Learning C++ Through The Qt Framework Really Learning C++

    The problem I have, is that most of the C++ books I read spend almost forever on syntax and the basics of the language, e.g. for and loops while, arrays, lists, pointers, etc. But they never seem to build anything that is simple enough to use for learning, yet practical enough to get you to understand the philosophy and power of the language. Then I stumbled upon QT which is an amazing library! But working through the demos they have, it seems like I am now in the reverse dilemma. I feel like the rich man's son driving round in a sports car subsidized by the father. Like I could build fantastic software, but have no clue what's going on under the hood. As an example of my dilemma take the task of building a simple web browser. In pure C++, I wouldn't even know where to start, yet with the Qt library it can be done within a few lines on code. I am not complaining about this. I am just wondering how to fill the knowledge void between the basic structure of the language and the high level interface that the Qt framework provides?

  • Master-Details with RadGridView for Silverlight 4, WCF RIA Services RC2 and Entity Framework 4.0

    I have prepared a sample project with the Silverlight 4 version of RadGridView released yesterday. The sample project was created with Visual Studio 2010, WCF RIA Services RC 2 for Visual Studio 2010, and ADO.NET Entity Framework (.NET 4). I have decided to use the SalesOrderHeader and SalesOrderDetails tables from the Adventure Works Database, because they provide the perfect one-to-many relationship: I will not go over the steps for creating the ADO.NET Entity Data Model and the Domain Service Class. In case you are not familiar with them, you should start with Brad Abrams series of blog posts and read this blog after that. To enable the master-details relationship we need to modify two things. First of all we need to include the automatic retrieval of the child entities in the domain service class.     We're currently reconsidering technologies and frameworks to get more agile with "simple" RMS CRUD-based projects. In short, short-living things like this Right now we have a custom extension on top of SmartGWT but after some time it has proven not to be flexible enough. I also personally dislike the java-js compilation process and the whole GWT codebase. Not only is the design ugly, it also makes certain low-level js things very complicated if not completely impossible. So what I'm looking for is: closest to web as possible, like JSF or possibly Tapestry, it is very important to be able get "low" and weave framework if necessary. Happens more often than we thought. datagrid capable - Ext.js & PrimeFaces looks pretty good, Vaadin does too. db-schema generators (optional, no matter in which way) If it were only on me, I'd probably stick to Ext.js + custom rest-based java solution, possibly generated from database schema (not sure about concrete tooling yet). I only have experience with vanilla Ext.js, vanilla GWT and JSF 2.0 / Seam, so it hard for me to judge or even propose other frameworks. What would be your proposition? What are the problems you've faced? What was your solution and how hard do you think it was to deal with them in "big picture"?
