  I'm trying to turn keep-alive connections off for a requests to a child folder in Apache, but when I reload the config I get the following error: KeepAlive not allowed here Here's my vhost config: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName example.com DocumentRoot /srv/www/mysite DirectoryIndex index.html <Location /subfolder> KeepAlive Off </Location> </VirtualHost> I've tried using <Directory> as well, but no go there either. • why did preview stop working from firefox?

  I just installed adobe reader, and now when I click on a PDF in the browser, it is not opened in preview. Adobe doesn't work either, and I am stuck without having the PDF viewed at all. I right clicked on a PDF, and preview is still my default viewer. So this: http://www.ehow.com/how_6764524_make-preview-default-pdf-viewer.html is not helping. Any ideas? I want to be able to use Preview in Firefox.

  I'm trying to enable permissions for a user on a Windows7 machine to use the built in feature called "Offer Remote Assistance" or "Windows Remote Assistance". This feature works fine if the user is added to the "domain admins" security group, but for security reasons, I cannot leave him in that group. This is within a SBS2003 Domain. I have added the user and also a group that he is apart of to the Small Business Server Remote Assistance Policy, after following some documentation I was able to find, but this has not worked. • IIS7 Default Document not working

  I have a website running on IIS 7 that has the default document on the Web Site Level set to only index.php. If I right click on the Web Site in IIS Manager and select Explore I see that the index.php file is there. If I just browse to the web site like http://my.site.com I get the default IIS 7 logo with "Welcome" in a bunch of diff languages. If I go to http://my.site.com/index.php it brings up the site just fine. I have stopped and started the Web Site and ran iisreset but still no luck. The Default Document Section of Web.config looks like this <defaultDocument> <files> <clear /> <add value="index.php" /> </files> </defaultDocument> What am I missing?

• SElinux stopping LVS from working with https

  LVS/piranha is setup and trying to get it to balance https instead of http. Setup https testing with wget - idea from this link. Works when I do it at the command prompt. With SELinux enforcing, the wget fails to run due to the lack of access to /dev/random. (Error - Could not seed PRNG; consider using --random-file. Disabling SSL due to encountered errors.) wget runs as system_u:system_r:piranha_lvs_t:s0 but the file/device /dev/random has system_u:object_r:random_device_t:s0 Also, wget is trying to getattr and read. How do you allow wget to use /dev/random so it will do ssl?

• ADMIN$ and other shares not working remotely on XP machines

  I'm trying to use ADMT to migrate several XP machines to a new domain and the utility (nor command line) is able to access the admin$ share or any drive share. I've added the required registry key (HKCurrent\Services\LanMan\Param) for both servers and workstation admin sharing, rebooted the PC and still am unable to access it. How can I access the admin share on these PCs? If it helps, this machine used to have McAfee installed, and the Windows firewall enabled. I stoppped both of them and the machine is still not allowing me to access it remotely by a drive$ share.

• Windows 8 auto-hibernate from sleep not working on Retina MacBook Pro

  I have a similar question to this one. Only my context is the 15" Retina MacBook Pro - and Windows 8. I have just the original Mac OS X Mountain Lion on there, then Windows 8 via Bootcamp. no rEFIt installed. (I just press ALT every time I restart windows, actually as a security measure to stop tech-unsavvy thugs, who, if the laptop is stolen, think it's only a mac and don't discover my Windows as quickly as they would've, and by that time I remotely activate various anti-theft mac apps and nab them that way). SO: like the related question asks, why isn't it behaving like it should? The Windows 7 FAQ states: Will sleep eventually drain my laptop battery? If your laptop battery charge gets critically low while the computer is asleep, Windows automatically puts the laptop into hibernation mode. But this is just not happening - on my rMBP Windows 8. It seems EVERY time I set the laptop to sleep (when it reaches 10%), then arriving home and plugging it in and hoping to simply resume my work, it does NOT save the session to disk and I lose ALL my work. Who's fault is it? Win 8's (a bug, grr)? Or Apple's EFI system (maybe fixable via editing EFI options/do I have to install refit to make it work perhaps?) Or maybe changing windows power options can somehow fix the problem? Thanks for your help.

  I have an ubuntu 10.04 server where I installed mod_evasive using apt-get install libapache2-mod-evasive I already tried several configurations, the result stays the same. The blocking does work, but randomly. I tried with low limis and long blocking periods as well as short limits. The behaviour I expect is that I can request websites until either page or site limit is reached per given interval. After that I expect to be blocked until I did not make another request for as long as the block period. However the behaviour is that I can request sites and after a while I get random 403 blocks, which increase and decrase in percentage, however they are very scattered.   After struggling for four hours, I still cannot get Unity 3D of Gnome 3 to work on my VirtualBox - I have been pouring through Internet and forum posts but to no avail.   I'm running Apache 2.4 locally and dealing with RESTful services authenticating through OAuth. GET, PUT and POST work fine but I can't get DELETE to work. I've tried installing WebDAV and mod_dav, overriding methods in .htaccess, tried Limits, force (enable) DELETE options in configuration and pretty much everything I've found in Google and StackExchange. • RRAS NAT not working on a certain computer

  This is driving me crazy. I have a virtualized W2K8 server running RRAS. Every other computer or server on the network can access the internet through the NAT except one. On one server, it just won't work. I can ping the ip address of the NAT gateway just fine, and everything else works. (SMB, etc) DNS, which is hosted by the same server, also works just fine. I have even reinstalled the OS on the problem server and it still doesn't work. Recap of the steps I tried: There are 3 network cards in the server, I tried every one and different switch ports. Not a hardware problem. Reinstalled W2K8 R2 on server with the problem, didn't help. Tried the IP of the internet gateway directly - this did work (!). But I need NAT to work. All firewalls are disabled. Removed computer from domain, deleted computer membership in Active Directory Users and Computers and added it back. Disabled all other network adapters and set a static ip and specified the gateway ip manually. When I tracert a public IP, the first hop (or any other hop) comes up as: C:\>tracert www.google.com Tracing route to www.l.google.com [209.85.225.106] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 * * * Request timed out. 2 * * * Request timed out. From a different computer, on which NAT works, the first hop comes up as: tracert www.google.com Tracing route to www.l.google.com [209.85.225.105] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 <1 ms * <1 ms xxxx [10.5.1.1] This is the most bizarre problem I ever came across, and I realize that it's a long shot asking it here given all the details, but I'm pulling my hair out.   I can't use the ia64-version of devcon.exe on my Windows7 professional x64 (AMD CPU). error message tells me, that the version of this applcation is not suitable for this version of windows and I should check whether I need to use a x64 or x86 version of this application. The x86 version starts correctly, but all operations (remove, restart, disable etc) fail. Running from a command line with full privileges. Any ideas how to solve this?

• USB Keyboard not working under windows 7 x64?

  I have two usb keyboards, one no-name cheapo thing and an old logitech. When i plug them in to my computer they pop up in device manager as "Unknown device" respective "USB-receiver". Both of them fail to install any drivers, neighter automatically or through windows update. Both keyboards work perfectly on another computer i have with vista 32bit. Can this be one of those cases where a device does not work in 64bit version of windows? I doubt it though since I've never had that problem before with any device and i thought that basic things like keyboards would be kind of failsafe. I don't really know how to start debugging this issue. I've tried all the obvious, rebooting, changing usb-port etc. Are there any generic x64 keyboard drivers you can use? Is there any way to find the manufacturer of the keyboard over usb? There is nothing written on it.

• Fix: Connections to SQL Server 2005 on Windows Vista suddenly stop working

  On my Vista machine at work, applications and the SQL Server Management Console work fine connecting to SQL Server 2005. Sometimes they are ok for weeks at a time, sometime for hours and then they stop connecting. I've tried everything to get it to work including the installation of SPII and running the user provisioning tool without any luck. The only way to fix it was to restart. The Error: Connections are refused with the standard error message: Cannot connect to SERVER_NAME\INSTANCE_NAME ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. • PHP-FPM not working with nginx and CentOS

  After failing to get FastCGI to work with PHP I have installed the PHP-FPM service which is reported to work out of the box, however PHP files are downloading instead of executing. This is what I have in the nginx.conf file: server { listen 80; server_name pubserver; root /usr/share/nginx/html; location ~ \.php$ { fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /usr/share/nginx/html$fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_param PATH_INFO $fastcgi_script_name; include /etc/nginx/fastcgi_params; } } The command netstat -tulpn | grep :9000 displays this which suggests PHP-FPM is running: tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:9000 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1058/php-fpm.conf)

• Apache HTTPd - rotatelogs not working

  I've edited my conf.d/ssl.conf file and changed the TransferLog directive from: TransferLog logs/ssl_access_log to TransferLog "|/usr/sbin/rotatelogs logs/ssl_access_log.%Y-%m-%d.log 60" (I am using 60 seconds for testing) Since that change and an httpd restart my original ssl_access_log is not updating and a new log was not generated. What am I missing? in my error log, I am receiving this message Could not open log file 'logs/ssl_access_log.2014-05-30.log' (No such file or directory) piped log program '/usr/sbin/rotatelogs logs/ssl_access_log.%Y-%m-%d.log 60' failed unexpectedly
