• MySql php: check if Row exists

  This is probably an easy thing to do but I'm an amateur and things just aren't working for me. I just want to check and see if a row exists where the $lectureName shows. If a row does exist with the $lectureName somewhere in it, I want the function to return "assigned" if not then it should return "available". Here's what I have. I'm fairly sure its a mess. • Adding my own items to Long Click on Text Box menu on android

  Hi all, I am currently developing an application for android. I'm not sure if this is possible but here it goes. When the user clicks and holds on a text box whether it is a website or a piece of software a menu is displayed which shows paste and input method. What I want to be able to do is add my own items to this menu and when the user clicks on my item it will load my app, they can select an item from a list view. It will then copy the contents and automatically paste it into the text field the user selected. Thanks for your help in this matter

• How to restore files that were removed by git?

  I am a git noob and git just deleted a bunch of important files. How do I get them back? I have a repo on my local machine. To get into git, I just right click my project folder and select "git bash here". This brings up the master where I do all my giting. So I had some changes to stage and I did: git add . This staged a bunch of changes. I noticed that I didn't want some of these staged so I decided that I'd try to unstage everthing. I did this: git reset --hard HEAD^ This basically deleted a bunch of files that I had made on the last commit and jumped to the commit before. How do I get those files back? If I can't do it through git is there another way?

  I have a table that has attributes based on a key-value. Example: CREATE TABLE ObjectAttributes ( int objectId, key nvarchar(64), value nvarchar(512) ) When I select from this I get: objectId key value ---------------------------- 1 Key 1 Value 1 1 Key 2 Value 2 I was wondering if I could use the PIVOT syntax to turn this into: objectId Key 1 Key 2 --------------------------- 1 Value 1 Value 2 I know all of my tables will have the same keys. (Unfortunately I cannot easily change the table structure. This is what is leading me to attempt using PIVOTS). The big issue here though is that pivots require an aggression function to be used. Is there a way to avert this? Am I completely wrong attempting this? Or is there a better solution?

  Hello, I have a form which asks the user his or her date of birth. Its a drop down box since I use the select input type. The first drop down has Months, second has Days, the third has the Years. So the format should be Month(October), Day(25), Year(1990). In other words the months spell out the actual month and not simply the number representation of the month. However, I would like to save the Day and Year in their respective formats. How can I do this in phpMyAdmin? Should I use the DATE type? what should the value be? I just need to know how to correlate all of this in phpmyadmin, so I can save it properly. Thank you.

I need a query to identify such colliding rows - something that would give me the ID of all rows in the collision.   I need to take the following query and pull the total order counts and sum of the orders grouped by day. I'm storing everything using timestamps. SELECT COUNT(id) as order_count, SUM(price + shipping_price) as order_sum, DAY(FROM_UNIXTIME(created)) as day FROM `order` WHERE '.implode(' AND ', $where).' I need to group by DAY but when I do for this past weekend's sales it takes my order_count and makes it 1 instead of 3. How can I pull the above values grouped by day? It returns a list of MyTypes which appear to be ordered by myType.Id ascending by default. public List<MyType> GetMyTypes(List<int> ids) { return (from myType in db.MyTypes where ids.Contains(myType.Id) select new MyType { MyValue = myType.MyValue }).ToList(); } So if ids contains 302 300 301 the List returned contains items in ascending order. What do I need to do to return List<MyType> in the order of ids? Thanks edit: I've tried orderby ids.IndexOf(myType.Id) but it throws the exception Method 'Int32 IndexOf(Int32)' has no supported translation to SQL.

  Been searching for an answer to this for the better part of an hour without much luck. I have two regional tables laid out with the same column names and I can put out a result list for either table based on the following query (swap Table2 for Table1): SELECT Table1.YEAR, FORMAT(COUNT(Table1.id),0) AS Total FROM Table1 WHERE Table1.variable='Y' GROUP BY Table1.YEAR Ideally I'd like to get a result that gives me a total sum of the counts by year, so instead of: | REGION 1 | | REGION 2 | | YEAR | Total | | YEAR | Total | | 2010 | 5 | | 2010 | 1 | | 2009 | 2 | | 2009 | 3 | | | | | 2008 | 4 | I'd have: | MERGED | | YEAR | Total | | 2010 | 6 | | 2009 | 5 | | 2008 | 4 | I've tried a variety of JOINs and other ideas but I think I'm caught up on the SUM and COUNT issue. • Sorting results by a char(1) column

  I have a stored procedure which basically does something like select top 1 expiryDate, flag, (bunch of other columns) from someTable (bunch of joins) order by expiryDate desc So this will grab the record that expires last. This works for most cases, except some records have a flag that are just a char(1). Most of the time it's just Y or N. So it'll return something like 2010-12-31 N 2010-10-05 Y 2010-08-05 N 2010-03-01 F 2010-01-31 N This works, most of the time, but is there any way to order it by the Flag column as well? So I'd want to group the results by Y, then N, and F and any other flags can go last in any order. I thought this would just be an order by, but since the flags are not weighted by the alphabetic value, I'm a little stumped. (Note: These are not my tables, I don't know if using the characters like this was a good idea or not, but it's not something I can change).

  I have a database with a table which contains a start time and an end time. The user has to select both through the Android app, and then I have to retrieve the two times into my database. For now, I have 2 TimePicker in my xml file, and I have 2 TimePicker in my java file TimePicker start_time = (TimePicker) findViewById(R.id.timePickerStart); Can someone help me know how I should retrieve the times, and use them in java (add a listener, etc.). And also, should I use TimeStamp or Date in the database ? My purpose is to send a notification (Toast?) to the user at those times. So should I retrieve the hour and the minute separately ? • MySQL TEXT field performance

  I have several TEXT and/or MEDIUMTEXT fields in each of our 1000 MySQL tables. I now know that TEXT fields are written to disk rather than in memory when queried. Is that also true even if that field is not called in the query? For example, if I have a table (tbExam) with 2 fields (id int(11) and comment text) and I run SELECT id FROM tbExam, does MySQL still have to write that to disk before returning results or will it run that query in memory? I am trying to figure out if I need to reconfigure our actual db tables to switch to varchar(xxxx) or keep the text fields and reconfigure the queries.
