  • iphone - passing an object on an UIToolbarButton action

    - by Mike
Is that possible to make a UIToolbarButton pass an object to its target by using some exoteric method (as it seems not to be possible using regular button use)? I mean something like UIBarButtonItem *Button = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithImage:buttonImage style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:@selector(doSomething:) **withObject:usingThis**]; I know I can trigger a method that will launch the full method with the object, but for the sake of elegance I was trying to minimize the code... I suspect it is not possible, but as you guys out there are insanely good you may come with an transcendental answer... who knows...

  • Calling UIGetScreenImage() on manually-spawned thread prints "_NSAutoreleaseNoPool():" message to lo

  • What could cause a button on a UIActionSheet to "miss" on touches?

    - by Alex Gosselin
I have a UIActionSheet as follows: UIActionSheet *sheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:[NSString stringWithFormat: @"Cancel New %@? Changes will be lost.", [creator propertyName]] delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Stay Here" destructiveButtonTitle:@"Discard and Close" otherButtonTitles:@"Save and Close", nil]; [sheet showInView:self.view]; [sheet release]; It creates the action sheet, The buttons display, the Destructive button is on top, cancel button is on the bottom, other button (save and close) shows up in the middle, the top two buttons, (destructive and other) work fine, but the bottom button has a gap, so it is farther down than the other buttons. For some reason though, in order to press the button I need to touch where it would be if there was no gap. Touching the actual button doesn't work. Sorry if this isn't super clear, has anyone encountered something like this? I don't like to whip out the "I found a bug" card too fast, maybe I'm doing something wrong here.

  • Change UIImagePicker Navigation Bar style to blue

    - by vodkhang
    All of my view has a blue navigation bar but when I want user to choose a photo, the UIImagePicker is black. I tried to set the navigation bar of UIImagePickerController to blue using UIBarStyleDefault but it does not work for me, the color is still black. I tried with other UIBarStyle like UIBarStyleBlack and UIBarStyleOpaque as well but it doesn't change the navigation bar of the picker anyway. Here is my code // Let the user choose a new photo. UIImagePickerController *imagePicker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; imagePicker.delegate = self; imagePicker.navigationBar.barStyle = UIBarStyleDefault; [self presentModalViewController:imagePicker animated:YES]; [imagePicker release];

  • How do I add artwork to an iTunes track with obj-c AppScript?

    - by demonslayer319
aTrack is an ITReference* object, value is an NSImage* object, initialized via a URL to a jpeg. [[[[[aTrack artworks] data_] set] to:value] send]; I get the following message in GDB: 2010-03-09 16:59:42.860 Sandbox[2260:a0f] Can't pack object of class NSImage (unsupported type): <NSImage 0x10054a440 Size={0, 0} Reps=( I then tried the following code: NSData *imageData = [[NSData alloc] initWithData:[value TIFFRepresentation]]; [[[[[aTrack artworks] data_] set] to:imageData] send]; and get this message instead 2010-03-09 16:46:09.341 Sandbox[2193:a0f] Can't pack object of class NSConcreteData (unsupported type): <4d4d002a 00000000> In the AppScript documentation, it says that the "data" property of the "artwork" item is a PICTPicture image. How do I convert an NSImage to a PICT? Am I using the AppScript all wrong?

  • UITableViewCellStyleDefault label width

    - by Rob Bonner
Hello all, I am getting some odd behavior from stock table cells, or maybe not odd, maybe I am making some assumptions. I create the cells as follows: cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; Then I assign an image to the default imageView property. My image usually comes in from a user, so it might be larger than the default size. To take care of this I: [cell.imageView setContentMode:UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit]; which I expected to scale the image for me within the control, but in reality, the images are all over the map. So, is there a proper way to constrain the image in stock cell types? Thanks in advance!

  • Toubleshooting mapkit performance

    - by brettr
I'm plotting over 500 points on a map using mapkit. Zooming is a little jittery compared to the native google map app. I've discovered what is causing the slowness. I'm adding custom annotations so that I can later add different pin colors and buttons for detail views: - (MKAnnotationView *) mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(AddressNote *) annotation { MKPinAnnotationView *annView=[[MKPinAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:@"currentlocation"]; annView.pinColor = MKPinAnnotationColorGreen; annView.animatesDrop=TRUE; annView.canShowCallout = YES; annView.calloutOffset = CGPointMake(-5, 5); return annView; } If I comment out the above code, everything works fine. Very smooth with zooming in/out. Should I be adding annotations differently to boost performance?

  • Trying to create link with NSTextField

    - by Chris
I'm using this category (is that right?) http://www.nightproductions.net/references/dsclickableurltextfield_reference.html#setAttributedStringValue to implement clickable textfields. I've imported the header file in my controller class and set it's attributed string value like this NSAttributedString* str = [[NSAttributedString alloc] initWithString:@"http://www.yahoo.com"]; [url setAttributedStringValue:(NSAttributedString *)str]; [str release]; The text field is not selectable and not editable. The text field value is set but it's not clickable and it's not a link. Thanks in advance.

  • Presentmodalviewcontroller method problem with retain count

    - by Infinity
Hello guys! I am trying to present a modal view controller. I have read the documentation, but something is strange. Here's my code: NSLog(@"rc: %d", [modalViewController retainCount]); UINavigationController *navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:modalViewController]; [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; [navigationController release]; NSLog(@"rc: %d", [modalViewController retainCount]); And on the console, appears: rc: 2 rc: 24 And I think 24 is very strange... What do you thin? Why is this happening?

  • TTTabItem in three20 icon not working?

    - by Frank
I have been trying to get TTTabItem to work with images. And I dug up that you can set the icon to an image file. This is my implemenation: TTTabItem *tab1 = [[[TTTabItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Item 1"] autorelease]; tab1.icon = @"bundle://icon_eat_min.png"; filterBar.tabItems = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: tab1, nil]; [scrollView addSubview:filterBar]; However, my icon doesn't even appear. I even search through this group: http://groups.google.com/group/three20/browse_thread/thread/f879f6643... and override the rounded style. But I am just contemplating why would you have an something you can set and not have it work? or am i doing this badly

  • Using UIImageView for a flipbook anim on iphone

    - by Joey
I'm using UIImageView to run a flipbook anim like this: mIntroAnimFrame = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake( 0, 0, 480, 320); mIntroAnimFrame.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"frame0000.tif"]; Basically, when determine it is time, I flip the image by just calling: mIntroAnimFrame.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"frame0000.tif"]; again with the right frame. Should I be doing this differently? Are repeated calls to set the image this way possibly bogging down main memory, or does each call essentially free the previous UIImage because nothing else references it? I suspect the latter is true. Also, is there an easy way to preload the images? The anim seems to slow down at times. Should I simply load all the images into a dummy UIImage array so they are preloaded, then refer to it when I want to show it with mIntroAnimFrame.image = mPreloadedArray[i]; ?

  • NSMutableArray withObject(UIImageView *)

    - by pureman
I am trying to load an NSMutableArray with UIImageViews. Everything is going fine with that. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to use the objects when they are in the mutable array. Here is some code: UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; NSMutableArray *array = [NSMutableArray new]; [array loadWithObject:(UIImageView *)imageView]; [imageView release]; That kind of sets up what I've done. Here's what I want to do: [array objectAtIndex:5].center = GCRectMake(0, 0); but that doesn't work. How can I do this??

  • Add UIView behind UITableView in UITableViewController code

    - by Drew C
I would like to use a fixed image as the background in a simple grouped table view in my iPhone program. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, the background is always solid white. I have followed several supposed solutions on this site and others to no avail. Here is the relavant code in the viewDidLoad method of the table view controller class (note, this code uses a solid blue color rather than an image for simplicity's sake): self.tableView.opaque = NO; self.tableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; UIView *backgroundView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480)]; backgroundView.backgroundColor = [UIColor blueColor]; [self.tableView.window addSubview:backgroundView]; [backgroundView release]; I suspect that I am not positioning the backgroundView view in the right place. I have tried sendToBack:, bringToFront:, and others but I always just get a white background. Is it possible to do this from within the UITableViewController? Must I use Interface Builder?

  • xcode syntax color coding explained?

    - by Max Fraser
Can anyone give me a quick rundown of the color syntax meanings in xcode? I am running into some problems and understanding the color coding I am sure will help me out. Currently I have some variables that are light blue and I think they need to be black but I am not sure of the difference? masterViewController=[[UINavigationController alloc] initWithDestination: destination]; I believe my masterViewController here should be colored black and not the light blue it is currently colored - I am assuming I defined or initialized something wrong somewhere. First day in xCode so I am pretty damn confused!

  • Release objects before returning a value based on those object?

    - by Moshe
    Consider the following method, where I build a string and return it. I would like to release the building blocks of the sting, but then the string is based on values that no longer exists. Now what? Am I leaking memory and if so, how can I correct it? - (NSString) getMiddahInEnglish:(int)day{ NSArray *middah = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"Chesed", @"Gevurah", @"Tiferes", @"Netzach", @"Hod", @"Yesod", @"Malchus"]; NSString *firstPartOfMiddah = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@", [middah objectAtIndex: ((int)day% 7)-1]]; NSString *secondPartOfMiddah = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@", [middah objectAtIndex: ((int)day / 7)]]; NSString *middahStr = [NSString string@"%@ She'bi@%", firstPartOfMiddah, secondPartOfMiddah]; [middah release]; [firstPartOfMiddah release]; [secondPartOfMiddah release]; return middahStr; }

  • Background image of table cell

    - by Shuaib
Hey guys, Trying to set a background image for a table view cell, tried almost everything but failing. Hoping someone would notice what I am doing wrong. Here is how my current code looks like: static NSString *CustomCellIdentifier = @"listCustomCell"; listCustomCell *cell = (listCustomCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: CustomCellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"listCustomCell" owner:self options:nil]; for (id oneObject in nib) if ([oneObject isKindOfClass:[listCustomCell class]]) cell = (listCustomCell *)oneObject; } cell.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; UIImageView *backgroundImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"list_selected.png"]]; //[cell setBackgroundView:backgroundImageView]; cell.backgroundView = backgroundImageView; The image won't show up in the background of the cell. All I see is plain white background. Thanks for help.

  • MKMapView not calling delegate methods

    - by criscokid
In a UIViewController I add a MKMapView to the view controlled by the controller. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; CGRect rect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 460, 320); map = [[MKMapView alloc] initWithFrame:rect]; map.delegate = self; [self.view addSubview:map]; } Later in the controller I have - (void)mapViewDidFinishLoadingMap:(MKMapView *)mapView { NSLog(@"done."); } Done never gets printed. None of the other delegate methods get called either like mapView:viewForAnnotation: I use a MKMapView in an another app, but this seems to happen on any new application I make. Has anyone else seen this behavior? EDIT: The problem seems to be when UIViewController is made the delegate of the MKMapView, a direct subclass of NSObject seems to work okay. I can work around like this, still seems very odd since I've done it before.
