• How do I blur (ios7 style) a section of an image in a UITableViewCell?

  I've got a UIImageView that takes up the whole cell and shows an image. I'd like to blur the bottom third of the view in the iOS7 style (we're targeting iOS7). There will be a label over the blurred part. The issue seems to be that I can't "screenshot" the UIImageView right as I am setting up the cell in tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: as it hasn't loaded yet. Although i've even tried setting up a timer for a 0.1 second delay and that also doesn't work. I've tried the stuff on http://damir.me/posts/ios7-blurring-techniques I've tried https://github.com/justinmfischer/7blur I'd like to use the new screenshotting API drawViewHierarchyInRect:afterScreenUpdates: I'd also like to use apple's sample code UIImage+ImageEffects The only thing that has worked so far has been to just put a UIToolbar in but the performance is really slow. I don't need dynamic updates. I've managed to get the following effect a few times but it has just tinted the view and hasn't actually blurred anything so I'm a bit confused.

  I ran across this chunk of code (modified) in our application, and am confused to how it works: function someObject() { this.someProperty = {}; this.foo = { bar: { baz: function() { return "Huh?" } } }; this.getValue = function() { return (this.someProperty && this.foo.bar && this.foo.bar.baz && this.foo.bar.baz()) || null; } } function test() { var o = new someObject(); var val = o.getValue(); alert(val); } when you call the test() function, the text "Huh?" is alerted. I'm not sure how the result of getValue is returning that, I would've thought doing A && B && C && D would have returned true, rather than the value of D.

• ASP.NET Deployment under IIS7/VS2010 as Web Application

  I transformed my VS2008 ASP.NET Website to a "Web Application" today using VS2010. So now it's possible to build a Deployment Package. A Zip Package which can be direclty imported into IIS7. Usually I added a website in IIS7 called mydomain.com and put everything in its root dir. That worked. However, since I converted to an Web Application, this Application is added beneath my "Website container". Now I'm confused, this is how it actually looks now when I try to open the website: Browsing to mydomain.com says 404 ERROR. Browsing to mydomain.com/mydomain.com opens the actual website, but in a subfolder instead of the root directory. (The Application is named after the Domain) How to make this application the root of the website now? I want the application to run under the mydomain.com ROOT and not some subfolder. Thanks a lot!

  After a bit of searching, I've found that it's possible to instantiate a WTForms object in web.py using the following code: form = my_form(**web.input()) web.input() returns a "dictionary-like" web.storage object, but without the double asterisks WTForms will raise an exception: TypeError: formdata should be a multidict-type wrapper that supports the 'getlist' method From the Python documentation I understand that the two asterisks are used to unpack a dictionary of named arguments. That said, I'm still a bit confused about exactly what is going on. What makes the web.storage object returned by web.input() "dictionary-like" enough that it can be unpacked by ** but not "dictionary-like" enough that it can be passed as-is to the WTForms constructor? I know that this is an extremely basic question, but any advice to help a novice programmer would be greatly appreciated!

  Hi, I'm trying to work out how to get a div (#tips) to appear when the user scrolls into the 2nd quarter of its containing div's height (#wrap), and then have it disappear when the user scrolls into the last quarter.   Hi All, I am newbie in Drupal 6. I am looking for customizing User registration form. Apparently found that while adding user using Admin login allows registration form to have fields like email address, username, password,confirm password, etc with validations. But when anonymous use wants to register, then only fields like email address and username are displayed. I tried with Profile module available. But now how could I add some fields (password, confirm password, terms & condition check and receive news letter check box)and behavior (password, confirm password validation etc.)? If I am adding such fields they are also get visible in AdminAdd user form resulting duplicate fields like Password,Confirm password. Could you please suggest me how can I do this? I tried googling but confused me a lot as I am beginner to Drupal.

• VS 2010 Layer Diagram Validation Error is Showing A Dependency That Doesn't Even Exist (AV0001)

  I'm getting the following validation error on my layer diagram Error 65 AV0001 : Invalid Dependency : Weld.Interface.Core(Assembly) -- Weld.Interface(Namespace) Layers: Application Framework Core, Application Framework | Dependencies: Namespace Reference D:\Projects\Windows Projects\Weld\Weld\ModelingProject1\Weld.layerdiagram 0 0 ModelingProject1 Weld.Interface.Core: This assembly and namespace does not have a reference to Weld.Interface and only references .NET Framework classes Weld.Interface: This assembly and namespace does not have a reference to Weld.Interface There is no dependancy between these two layers in the dependency diagram. I am confused why I am getting this error. No dependency in the project or code, and no dependency is even setup in the layer diagram. Somehow the Validation logic in the layer diagram is seeing a non existant dependency and saying it is an error. Any ideas what either I might have missed or what is causing this problem?

• Confusion using XCode 4.5 for iOS 5.0 and iOS 6.0

  I am very much confused between iOS 5.0 and iOS 6.0 with XCode 4.5. It's not very clear if I want to support my new App on iOS 5.0 onwards, which functionality should I use and which are not to use. Basically Xcode 4.5 gives you all functionality like Container Views and Unwind Segues in storyboard (...and many more that I might not be aware) that are available only from iOS 6.0 and you wouldn't know until you run your app and it crashes! Could anyone please let me know any simple solution to this? Do I have to revert back to Xcode 4.4? I am setting deployment target to iOS 5.0 but I couldn't set Base SDK to iOS 5.0 as it doesn't appear in the list. See attached image. Thanks.

• Is it correct that blueprint css allows you to formulate your layout as a grid instead of in terms o

  One of the arguments I've heard about blueprint css is that it lets you think of your layout in terms of a grid rather than in terms of floats. This seems like a big advantage to me because I always get confused about where my floats are going to end up - sometimes a float will unexpectedly drop down below some other floats and I have a hard time figuring out how to reposition everything. Does this make blueprint css a good choice for me - or should I just put the time in to learn how to use floats properly and do all of my layouts manually?

I'm trying to design my data access to allow various facets - from ASP.net, WCF and Windows Forms / Windows services. I'm a bit confused re: session management etc.. How would I handle this? Do i need to create different repositories for each client?   This looks simple but I am confused: The way I create a vector of hundred, say, ints is std::vector<int> *pVect = new std::vector<int>(100); However, looking at std::vector's documentation I see that its constructor is of the form explicit vector ( size_type n, const T& value= T(), const Allocator& = Allocator() ); So, how does the previous one work? Does new call the constructor with an initialization value obtained from the default constructor? If that is the case, would std::vector<int, my_allocator> *pVect = new std::vector<int>(100, my_allocator); where I pass my own allocator, also work?

• Removing views from UIScrollView

  I have two UIScrollViews that I move images between. The user can drag and forth between the scroll views. I am trying to animate the movement of the image from one scroll view to another. In -touchesMoved (handled in my UIViewController which has two custom UIScrollViews that intercept touch and sends to my UIViewController), I am trying to set the "center" of my UIImageView that is being moved. As it is moved, the image gets hidden behind the UIScrollView and not visible. How do I make it appear on top of the UIScrollView? I am able to handle the -touchesEnded properly by animating in the destination scroll view. I am also confused about -convertPoint:fromView: usage in the iPhone Programming Guide (See Chapter 3, Event Handling). If the touch coordinates are in window coordinates, to change my view (UIImageView inside a UIScrollView which is inside a UIView and inside a window) center don't I have to use -convertPoint:toView:, i.e., imageView.center = [self.view.window convertPoint:currentTouchPosition toView:imageView]; What am I missing?

  Hi, Im pretty new to Java Web Services, but I cant find a good explanation anywhere. I have 2 Java web projects within NetBeans. One as a web service and one as a client for that web service. I have also created my own class called "Person", which has what you'd expect: name, dob, etc. I would like to have a web service method called "ListPeople()" that would return an array of "Person" objects. Do I need to have that class in both projects? Should I be serializing the object first? Should I be using JAXB, if so, where do I start? Sorry for the n00b questions, but im confused. • UITableViewController's TableView becomes NULL

  I have UITableViewController (initiated by the Navigation-based app project template). I am overriding loadView and putting up an alternative view (w/ a UILabel and UIActivityIndicator) to display while the table's contents is loading. When the loading is done, I remove the loading view and try to display the table view but I see that it's NULL. So in the simulator I see my loading view and then when the loading's done the view disappears but my tableview never comes. I'm confused what the difference is between self.view and self.tableView in my UITableViewController and how I can exchagn

• Why would I do an inner join on a non-distinct field?

  I just came across a query that does an inner join on a non-distinct field. I've never seen this before and I'm a little confused about this usage. Something like: SELECT distinct all, my, stuff FROM myTable INNER JOIN myOtherTable ON myTable.nonDistinctField = myOtherTable.nonDistinctField (WHERE some filters here...) I'm not quite sure what my question is or how to phrase it, or why exactly this confuses me, but I was wondering if anyone could explain why someone would need to do an inner join on a non-distinct field and then select only distinct values...? Is there ever a legitimate use of an inner join on a non-distinct field? What would be the purpose? And if there's is a legitimate reason for such a query, can you give examples of where it would be used?

  I am trying to serialize an xml to a class with the following way: XmlSerializer ser = new XmlSerializer(typeof(PSW5ns.PSW5)); StringReader stringReader; stringReader = new StringReader(response_xml); XmlTextReader xmlReader; xmlReader = new XmlTextReader(stringReader); PSW5ns.PSW5 obj; obj = (PSW5ns.PSW5)ser.Deserialize(xmlReader); xmlReader.Close(); stringReader.Close(); the class PSW5 is generated automatically by xsd.exe using an PSW5.xsd file given to me. I have done the same for other classes and it works. Now i get the following error (during runtime) : {"Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1).\r\nerror CS0030: Cannot convert type 'PSW5ns.TAX_INF[]' to 'PSW5ns.TAX_INF'\r\nerror CS0029: Cannot implicitly convert type 'PSW5ns.TAX_INF' to 'PSW5ns.TAX_INF[]'\r\n"} I am confused because it works for other classes the same way. • Unit testing "hybrid" WPF/Silverlight controls

  I'm starting a new WPF/Silverlight custom control project and wanted to do unit testing on this one. However I'm a little confused about how to approach this. This control would be based on the same codebase for both WPF and Silverlight with minor forking using #ifs and partial classes to tame the differences. I guess I could write unit tests for WPF part with NUnit, MSTest, xUnit, etc. and for the Silverlight part with Silverlight Unit Test Framework but this doesn't sound very elegant to me. I'd have to either ignore testing identical code on one of the platforms and test only differing parts (which is not very trustworthy) or rewrite tests for 2 frameworks (which is annoying). Is this the right way to go? I'm wondering if there's some guidance, articles, tutorials out there on how to approach this task. Any pointers?

• need help with installing shared libraries on linux

  Hi, I am new to linux and trying to get the Ajax Push engine server to work on Ubuntu 9.04. I installed the server from source it fails the check that it does by using its own javascript framework. The problem is that it fails to load the modules and the output that i get in the terminal when i start it is. [Module] Failed to load ../modules/lib/libmod_spidermonkey.so [Invalid library] (libmysac.so.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory) i thought i had to install mysac lib as a shared lib, so after some searching i copied the libmysac.so to /usr/local/lib/ and upon running ldconfig there it created the symlink. But still it gived the same error. Now I copied the libmod_spidermonkey.so in the shared lib dir. But this time ldconfig did not create any symlinks. I am really confused and looking for some pointers . Please help

• Ad-Hoc mode and Cell (how does it work)?

  hello, I am setting up a wireless Ad-Hoc network manually in linux using iwconfig and ifconfig. I have gotten everything working, and I think I understand it all except access point. The part that confused me is this: If I have essid='some_id', channel=11, Mode=Ad-Hoc and appropriate routing/ip on both laptops, why do I need to make sure the Cell is the same? I was under the impression that Ad-Hoc worked independently of the access point. I can easily get around this, I just use iwconfig wlan0 ap 00:00:00:00:00:01 Why is this necessary? I've been unable to find a good tutorial on this. If anyone can clear this up I'd appreciate it. Thanks
