• Sql server indexed view

  OK, I'm confused about sql server indexed views(using 2008) I've got an indexed view called AssignmentDetail when I look at the execution plan for select * from AssignmentDetail it shows the execution plan of all the underlying indexes of all the other tables that the indexed view is supposed to abstract away. I would think that the execution plan woul simply be an clustered index scan of PK_AssignmentDetail(the name of the clustered index for my view) but it doesn't. There seems to be no performance gain with this indexed view what am I supposed to do? Should I also create a non-clustered index with all of the columns so that it doesn't have to hit all the other indexes? Any insight would be greatly appreciated

• I dont understand how Westpac Payway API and NET works

  Been googling all day, reading numerous pdf's and still getting confused with the concepts of sending data to Payway system from Westpac (bank in Australia, link text). They offer access via API but also give access via what they call NET. The way I understand is that when client want to pay on my website, in case of NET, client gets to the page (hosted by a bank or hosted by me) where is provided with form to enter credit card info details. Then this form is submitted via normal POST call to Payway's specific https address. It is processed then and browser returns to url I specified as one of the parameters I sent in hidden field. In case of API story is similar, so user receives form, fills in the data and then data is send to my backend (not Payway's). My backend then calls payway API with data provided and once answer received returns confirmation page to the client. Is my understanding right? Please explain as I have a feeling I am missing something basic here.

• Where and how to validate and map ViewModel?

  Hi, I am trying to learn Domain Driven Design and recently read that lots of people advocate creating a ViewModels for your views that store all the values you want to display in a given view. My question is how should I do the form validation? should I create separate validation classes for each view, or group them together? I'm also confused on what this would look like in code. This is how I currently think validation and viewmodels fit in to the scheme of things: View (some user input) - Controller - FormValidation(of ViewModel) - (If valid map to ViewModel to Domain Model) - Domain Layer Service - Infrastructure Thanks!   I'm trying to delete the subobject 'apples' from my documents and update the 'fruitInventory' property, decrease by the amount of apples. I'm confused on how to proceed, should I use dot notation or do a full text search for apples?   I am totally confused by a simple Microsoft error message. When I run XSD.exe against an assembly that contains a custom ConfigurationSection (which in turn utilizes a custom ConfigurationElement and a custom ConfigurationElementCollection, as well as several ConfigurationProperties), I get the following error message: Error: There was an error processing 'Olbert.Entity.Utils.dll'. There was an error reflecting type 'Olbert.Entity.DatabaseConnection'. You must implement a default accessor on System.Configuration.ConfigurationLockCollection because it inherits from ICollection. Yet the class in question has a default accessor: public object this[int idx] { get { return null; } set { } } I realize the above doesn't do anything, but I don't need to access the element's properties by index. I'm just trying to work around the error message. So what's going on?

  Hello, So i decide to to develop my asp.net site into Silverlight. I today start to search articles about MVVM pattern which i want use in my Silverlight app, and i am confused :/ It's hart to me understand how works this pattern. I am find 3 frameworks which supports MVVM pattern in Silverlight - Caliburn, MVVM Light Toolkit and GoodLight. Should i start from own implementation of pattern or use framework? Is this frameworks only a project solutions in which i can insert my code? Which framework is the best for novice and which for professional? I ask for this, cause i must start to rewrite my app from asp.net to Silverlight and i don't know that i can do it first and later (when i understand MVVM pattern and framework) implement this pattern in finished app ? Or from begining rewrite project to MVVM framework?

• Using Hibernate with Dynamic Eclipse Plug-ins

  I have classes that are named exactly the same across different plug-ins that I use for my application, and I'd like to be able to configure them properly with Hibernate. The problem is that it looks like Hibernate dynamically generates a class' package name when trying to find a class when it's doing its mapping. With one plug-in this scheme works, but across multiple plug-ins it's not working. It looks like Hibernate gets confused when dealing with Hibernate configuration files across multiple plug-ins. Is this because each plug-in has its own class-loader? What is the best way to proceed to make this work with the existing plug-ins and Hibernate?

• Zend Framework ErrorController not working on live site?

  My site is set up pretty much as per the Zend Quickstart guide. The default ErrorController works locally using MAMP. But now I've deployed it to my live site I get a blank page and a "500 Internal Server Error" according to FireBug when I go to an action that doesnt exist. On my local server I get a 404 and a nicely formatted error page. Any ideas anyone? I dont really know where to begin looking. I'm confused :/ Thanks.

• "a valid provisioning file for this executable was not found" in XCode

  I'm trying to submit my second app to the App Store. I've followed all the instructions to the best of my knowledge, but I keep getting this error when I try to build and run: "a valid provisioning file for this executable was not found" I'm letting XCode auto select the profile automatically. The one I'd like to select is greyed out. But the dropdown selection in the Build tab of the Target window says "profile doesn't match application identifier" The other thing I don't get about this is that the selection dropdown shows "com.mycompany.myapp" and then "ABCDEDFG.com.mycompany.myapp" (both of those made up) so that I see they don't match. I have the unique identifier profile installed in the Organizer and in plist file. I'm totally confused. I have followed the instructions in my book a few times and just can't get it.

• Can one TabBarItem be used for two different ViewControllers?

  I am creating an app with three tabBarItems, but I want to control four ViewControlers with three tabBars. I am trying to use one tabBar for two different viewcontrollers. I am able to change the tabBartitle and icon upon tap, but I cannot reset it so it can go back to it's previous status with previous title and icon. Also, I am confused about using the tabBarController or just tabBar and to call what function to reload/refresh the tabBar status and where exactly? I am fairly new to the iPhone SD, please describe your answer clearly any help will be highly appreciated.

  (Followup to this question) After surviving the first wave of incoming shipments (9 hours of copy/paste), I now believe I have all the requirements. Here is the updated workflow: Monkey collects email attachments (4 Excel spreadsheets, 1 PDF) Monkey creates central database, does complex calculations (right now this is also an Excel spreadsheet) Monkey sends data to two bosses, who set the retail prices independently; first one to reply wins Monkey sends order form to our other warehouses, also Excel Monkey sends spreadsheets to VIP customers, carefully sanitized and formatted (4 different discount categories) Jurily enters the data into the accounting system. I've given up on automating this part, there's too much business logic involved, and the database is a pile of sh^W legacy My question: What technologies would you use for a quick and dirty solution? I'm mostly sold on C#, but coming from a Linux/C++ background, I'm horribly confused about my choices in Microsoft-land. For bonus points: How would you redesign the whole system from the ground up? P.S. in case you were wondering, my job title is System Administrator.

• How do I host a Google gadget? How does it work?

  I just spent 5 hours by checking Google gadgets websites and FAQs, but I still have no idea how to host a gadget. What I've figured from reading the Google documentation: I can write gadgets with XML, JavaScript etc.. Gadgets can be added to iGoogle etc.. Google can host the gadgets for you. Gadgets can be hosted anywhere else??? All of the above information doesn't answer my question. For instance, with jQuery or Dojo Toolkit, I can download the JavaScript framework and use it. With Google gadgets, I can not find a download link for a framework. Why? Does Google provide its framework? If not, why does the documentation indicate that gadgets can be hosted anywhere? I am totally confused. A brief explanation or some helpful links are very welcome! Thanks a lot!!!

  Hi all, I have a scenario where I need to localized values of objects in my database. Let's say you have an application that can create animals, if the user is english the value of the "Name" property of an animal would be entered as "Cat" in the UI whereas it would be entered as "Chat" in french. The animal culture table would contain 2 records pointing to the same animal in the parent table. When reading values back, if the value of "Name" does not exist in the user culture the default value (value the object was originally created with) would be used. The following diagrams demonstrate how the data is stored in SQL: I'm trying to map this schema to an object model using the Entity Framework, I'm a bit confused as to what the best way to approach the problem. • Typed Arrays in Gecko 2: Float32Array concatenation and expansion.

  Hi all, I'm a bit confused with Javascript Typed Arrays. What I have several *Float32Array*s, that have no concat method. I'd like to concatenate them all inside another Float32Array, but: as I said before, there is no concatenation method if I try to write past the array length, the array is not expanded (aka this won't work - please note that event.frameBuffer and buffer are both Float32Array and that I don't know what the final length of my buffer will be): var length_now = buffer.length; for (var i = 0; i < event.frameBuffer.length; i += 1) { buffer [length_now + i] = event.frameBuffer[i]; } The only solution I found is to copy the Float32Array in a regular array, that's definitely not what I want. How would you do, stackoverflowers?

• Android Market Publishing Issues

  I have an app which I have just updated to froyo to take advantage of the move to SD card feature. I am now trying to upload the update to the market but I keep getting the following error: "The file is invalid: W/ResourceType( 7193): Bad string block: last string is not 0- terminated ERROR getting 'android:label' attribute: attribute is not a string value". I changed the value in the manifest from "android:label="@string/app_name" " to "android:label="test" " and uploaded it, then it started complaining about the icon, saying that it wasn't a string. Anyone have any ideas? The application part of my manifest is shown below and I'm properly confused. The app compiles into an APK, it even installs and runs fine on my N1 (installing from SD card) it just won't upload to the market. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have absolutely no idea what's wrong, seems like I've tried everything I can think of including re-installing eclipse. Cheers Steve
