• Sending mail in localhost:25 with Ssmtp

  I already have Ssmtp installed and working in a Centos 5.7 machine with Gmail configured. I can send mails in th shell without problems. Now i want to use the ssmtp to allow a web app (installed in the same machine) to send mails but for do this i have to find a way to ssmtp "hears" in the port 25 (or any other). There is a way to do this? There is another simple alternative to ssmtp who allows to send mail using localhost:25? Thanks.

  i've got some questions about how it works: so ubuntu server comes with postfix installed. if i want my php script to send a mail to lets say [email protected], how does it work? do i have to specify any ip to another MTA (my ISP's MTA?) in postfix's configuration file? and if someone sends back, will it get to my ip? is it postfix that receives it? or has it to do with fetchmail?

• Auto-responder rule in Outlook 2010 produces double signature (but only to certain emails)

  I have set up an auto-responder in Outlook 2010 using a custom template, as a staff member will be on vacation for 6 weeks. It works perfectly, apart from the fact certain people receive two signatures at the bottom of the message instead of one. When reviewing the "sent" folder, there is no sign of double signatures. In the custom template, there is only 1 copy of the signature. Signatures are set to be applied automatically to new messages or replies- however, if I remove the signature from the template, then it seems no one receives a response with the signature. People sending from Hotmail accounts do not receive a duplicate signature. Gmail users do see a duplicate signature. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

• Use Outlook 2007 to connect to mail using active sync protocol

  Has anyone tried connected outlook(I am running v2007 on Windows 7) to a mail service using the MS Exchange Active Sync protocol? I know it is intended for mobile devices, but to me it looks like it is becoming the latest 'de facto' mail protocol for email/calendar/contact sync'ing due to the iPhone's support for it. I just think it would be an elegant solution to get my lotus notes mail in outlook(my company uses lotus notes with traveler service installed that exposes mail over the active sync protocol so I can currently read my notes mail via iPhone). This solution would probably eliminate the need for all the hacks needed to connect outlook to 'X' mail (Gmail, notes, etc) So, maybe someone out there has tried this or knows how to do it before spend time on more researching this. • Recommendation for email setup for programatically sending lots of emails

  To clarify I have an app that notifies users via email when certain actions take place (I am not spamming as the user has opted in to the notifications and can change that option at any time). Because of number of emails that needs to be sent, Gmail, Yahoo, etc will not work. Unless I am mistaken services like MailChimp, Lyris, etc will also not fit this need since every email is sent one at a time and is very specific to the user and action that took place. What I really want is something that would allow me to be able to call some mail function, give it a recipient, from, message and subject, and not have it be blocked by the email service. This can be a free or paid service. I have server access so I can install something if necessary as well but I don't know much about email services and fear if I do it myself, I'll get blocked by some other player like my VPS host or ISP or something.

• What is your best solution for task management?

  I have Outlook at work, Gmail at home and a BlackBerry (only syncs with work Outlook). I see that there are a number of online websites that support webbased task lists such as "remember the milk", etc. My biggest issue with Outlook is that I flag a number of emails as tasks and they show up as tasks in Outlook but NOT on my BlackBerry. I still haven't found a workaround to this. I see there is some BlackBerry sync tools but I am not sure if this will work with my corporate network. Any suggestions for getting this to work or another optimal task management solution that works at home, work and on the road?

Now I'll be sending alot of emails from my web app to people and this works fine. What I also want is for people to be able to send us email. Please point me in the right direction. • Ubuntu VPS - email and webserver

  I have a VPS based on Ubuntu, it has installed whole LAMP, everything needed for a web server and it works perfectly, but I'm still not able to configure it as a mail server.... I have configured MX record for my domain mail.mydomain.com and this part is OK, I also installed Postfix, Dovecot and Roundcube, configured it using this tutorial: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Mail_Server_setup And after hours of configuring it doesn't work. I have experience with Linux and web hosting, but I successfully configured mail server once in past on Debian 6, and that with help from there. When I try to send email to me my gmail says: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain mydomain.com by dc147738a1117e4c12273.mydomain.com. [MY_SERVER_IP]. The error that the other server returned was: 554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied Also I have Webmin control panel which works perfectly, how to configure postfix and dovecot from there? • Firefox's master password does not protect my web accounts

  I've set up a master password in Firefox 3.6 but it's not working as I expected. I always save my passwords within Firefox for frequently visited sites like Facebook, Yahoo! mail, Gmail, Twitter etc. and this way I don't have to type in my password every time I open that site. When I open Firefox, it asks for the master password but when I click Cancel, it opens normally, and lets me directly in my Facebook page, or Yahoo! Mail page. Why doesn't it protect my accounts? This way, anyone using my computer can see my accounts and it's totally pointless for me to use this master password. How can I protect my accounts with saved passwords in Firefox?

• How do I sent an "over-sized" video via my Anrdoid?

  When I try to e-mail my 10-minute videos to my gmail account, but when I try to attach the videos the phone gives me this error: 'File is too large and cannot be attached'. Can't reproduce because my Android is hooked up to USB, but I'll edit-- S3x-- What's any convenient way to upload/send a video without having to get out the USB? Can I do it without using any 3rd-party apps, or at least using safe 3rd-party apps? Youtube is an option, I believe, but I want to have a hard copy on my PC for editing. Attachments are more convenient.

• What to do with a Blowfish Key?

  I just completed backing up 8 years of my Gmail using http://gmvault.org I selected the --encrypt option which uses Blowfish encryption. According to their site: Emails can be encrypted with the option -e --encrypt. With that option, the Blowfish encryption is used to crypt your emails and chats and the first time you activate it, a secret key is randomly generated and stored in $HOME/.gmvault/token.sec. Keep great care of the secret key as if you loose or delete it your stored emails won't be readable anymore !!! I'm using OSX Lion. I'm a software engineer but far from an encryption expert. What should I do with this key? It seems like leaving it where it is now (alongside the emails) sort of misses the point of encrypting them to begin with.

• Block access to certain websites from other computers on shared internet connection

  I have very little knowledge about networking. I have an internet connection on my PC (running Windows XP). I've enabled internet connection sharing to other computers on my network connected using a WIFI router. I want to block use of GMail (in general, specific domains) from other computers, but should be able to access them from my own machine. I can't edit my hosts file because my machine too would lose access. I guess I need to configure my wireless router for that. But I have no idea how to do so. My wireless router is a Zyxel P-660HW-T1 v2. I'd appreciate any pointers.

• My Mac is slow but don't know what's slowing it down

  My Mac (Macbook Pro) is sometimes slow doing basic tasks, like browsing the web or something like that. If I open Activity Monitor, I have (maybe) one program that is about 10 % CPU, others are below 1 %. My CPU usage is not full. I still have more than 2 GB of free memory (out of 5 GB). There is no heavy I/O activity like copying files. My open programs are Google Chrome (6 tabs, none of which are in some way (flash, many DOM objects, Javascript) have IMO, except maybe Gmail), Activity Monitor, Finder, Sublime Text 2 (text editor) and iTerm (terminal). What is causing the slowdown? "Slow" being: taking time to write these characters (I press the keyboard keys but there is a delay before I see them on the screen), changing tabs or programs, etc.

• Can't import contacts into Outlook from Excel

  I run MS Office 2010. I have all contacts from a previous Outlook 2010 saved in an Excel sheet. I have tried dozens of time to import, but when Outlooks is supposed to do the mapping of the columns I only have one column in my CSV-file: firstname;middlename;surname, etc. It means I cannot map the data correctly. I have tried saving in MS-DOS and Tab and it does not get better. I have tried saving on another computer and it does help either. ALso tried importing to Gmail with same result. Can anyone help?

  I have postfix set up for use as an STMP server to send mail for my domain, but I receive email for the domain via gmail/google apps. The reason I use my own postfix is because I send out a lot of transactional emails to my customers using a web app, and the volume would exceed what google allows with its SMTP servers. Everything works fine, except cron & system mail gets routed to local users on the server, not to the appropriate accounts at google mail. We are not using SMTP server provided by website hosting provider, as we wanted to reduce the network traffic and avoid IP blocking due to bulk mails.   I am working on configuring /mutt/ to send mail via /msmtp/. Strangely, if I user /msmtp/ from shell, all okay, that means, that .msmtprc is correct. However, mail sent with mutt do not come. I have this line in .muttrc. set sendmail="msmtp" How can I debug this problem? EDIT: I found, that if I send just text, like msmtp 'my-email' <<< "Hello", it works.   At my company we have Exchange 2k3 with OWA being public, serving up Activesync and webmail. There is no pop3 or imap support from our admins. Outlook 2k3's RPC over HTTP is also disabled Is there a desktop client that can connect to Activesync or OWA? If my ipod touch can connect to activesync, why can't my pc? I'd preferably like a linux daemon that could simply forward emails to my gmail address, but I guess I'll take what I can get. • Work around for yahoo mail slowness (using 100% cpu)

  My yahoo mail is very slow sometimes. When it is, I notice that IE8 is using 100% cpu. Using sysinternals process explorer I discovered the thread using all the cpu in IE8 has Flash in the stackwalk. I upgraded flash from 9 to 10, but the problem persists. I'm about to edit hosts to block the flash content by redirecting the yahoo and ad click dns entries. Is there some easier way to get flash to behave? The fix for the long run will be switching to gmail.

  I'm running Ubuntu Server 9.10 with Postfix and Webmin. I have created virtual hosts for 3 domains following this serverfault.com answer. But the mail isn't relaying out to the world. I have 3 domains tied into my DNS in webmin, as well as inside DNS clicked Mail Server and followed that instruction using this article on the web. The domains and the web servers work just fine. I also have FTP working just fine. So, the remaining problem I have is mail. Can't forward mail out to a Gmail account for some reason. Note I'm just trying to do the "easy version" of Postfix config and if your answer is in Webmin-ease, that would help me. However, I can edit a text file if you suggest.

  I am a Student at Northeastern University. They use G-Apps for email ids, so whenever I need to email someone, using university Id which ends with husky.neu.edu. I have to go Gmails compose mail, They have some LDAP Setting by which I get all the email ids using AJAX in "To" as soon as I start typing. I want to configure same in Thunderbird, I contacted university but they are not able to help me. Is it possible that on my G-Apps Gmail Settings those LDAP Parameter needed for configuration are presents? Can anyone help me? I want to configure a directory reference in my email client thunderbird, I dont know the parameters to use, it is possible I can get it somehow?
