• How Do You Parse Column Data ?

  I am trying to parse a file generated by LGA Tracon that lists the position data for aircraft over a given time frame. The data of interest starts with TRACKING DATA and ends with SST and there are thousands of entries per file. The system generating the file, Common ARTS, is very rigid in its formatting and we can expect the column spacing to be consistent. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We want to develop new tracking system for out company and then we want to use Bing Maps SDK, so this will be commercial project If we will relase software,a lot of users can use it. • What Windows message is fired for mouse-up with modifier keys?

  My WndProc isn't seeing mouse-up notifications when I click with a modifier key (shift or control) pressed. I see them without the modifier key, and I see mouse-down notifications with the modifier keys. I'm using the Windows Forms NativeWindow wrapper to get Windows messages from the WndProc() method. I've tried tracking the notifications I do get, and I the only clue I see is WM_CAPTURECHANGED. I've tried calling SetCapture when I receive the WM_LBUTTONDOWN message, but it doesn't help. Without modifier (skipping paint, timer and NCHITTEST messages): WM_LBUTTONDOWN WM_SETCURSOR WM_MOUSEMOVE WM_SETCURSOR WM_LBUTTONUP With modifier (skipping paint, timer and NCHITTEST messages): WM_KEYDOWN WM_PARENTNOTIFY WM_MOUSEACTIVATE WM_MOUSEACTIVATE WM_SETCURSOR WM_LBUTTONDOWN WM_SETCURSOR (repeats) WM_KEYDOWN (repeats) WM_KEYUP If I hold the mouse button down for a long time, I can usually get a WM_LBUTTONUP notification, but it should be possible to make it more responsive..   By default, Glassfish v3 doesn't set the httpOnly flag on session cookies (when created as usual with request.getSession()). I know, there is a method javax.servlet.SessionCookieConfig.setHttpOnly(), but I'm not sure, if that's the best way to do it, and if yes, where the best place would be to put that line. BTW, of course it can't be done in the servlet itself (e.g. in init()): java.lang.IllegalStateException: PWC1426: Unable to configure httpOnly session tracking cookie property for servlet context /..., because this servlet context has already been initialized Generally, I would prefer to use a configuration option e.g. in web.xml.

  Allot of my use of hibernate, at least for that data that is presented on many parts of the web application, is for read-only purposes. I want to add some parameters to my Dao methods so I can modify the way hibernate pulls the data and how it handles transactions etc. Example usage: Data on the front page of my website is displayed to the users, it is read-only, so I want to avoid any session/entity tracking that hibernate usually does. This is data that is read-only, will not be changed in this transaction, etc. What would be the most performant way to pull the data?   I need to deal with Affiliate Tracking on our website. In our .htaccess we have: RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} affiliate=(.*) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1? [NC,R,L,co=AFFID:%1:%{HTTP:Host}:7200:/] Which creates a COOKIE called AFFID with the value of the URL Parameter affiliate. But the Cookie is not for the whole domain, i.e. Going to http://www.domain.com/?affiliate=bmk sets the AFFID cookie with the value bmk for .www.domain.com but I would like ti to be for .domain.com so that it can be used across our secure domain which will be secure.domain.com Any help would be appreciated Cheers

• FLOT: How to make different colored points in same data series, connected by a line?

  Hi all, I think I may have stumbled onto a limitation of Flot, but I'm not sure. I'm trying to represent a single data series over time. The items' "State" is represented on the Y-Axis (there are 5 of them), and time is on the X-Axis (items can change states over time). I want the graph to have points and lines connecting those points for each data series. In addition to tracking an item's State over time, I'd also like to represent it's "Status" at any of the particular points. This I would like to do by changing the color of the points. What this means is a single item may have different Statuses at different times, meaning for a single data series I need a line that connects different points (dots) of different colors. The only thing I've seen so far is the ability to specify the color for all points in a given dataseries. Does anyone know if there's a way to specify colors individually? Thanks.

  I would like to try to build Google App Engine for Java from source. I have tried this: I don't know how to solve the javac Ant task. I am on Mac OS X 10.6.8. The reason why I am trying to to create a Java Project from the source is that when I try to debug/step-into the sources downloaded from SVN, something is wrong in Eclipse and it does not track execution at the right code line. It seems to be executing "comment lines"? So I don't get an accurate tracking of the code path. I think what I would ideally need is: 1) svn checkout command with matching REV number of latest SDK 2) wget command downloading matching jar

What is the big picture of Dojo and JSON, and what are the nasty little details that will catch me up? • MFC/WIN32: mouse hover highlight in listctrl

  The ListView control of Windows Explorer gives a highlight to whatever item is under the mouse, without affecting the current selection. This helps enormously with relating what item a given tooltip applies to within a listview - especially in report mode. However, I am currently unable to find any APIs that would give my MFC application's CListCtrl that same behavior. Extended styles only have LVS_EX_TRACKSELECT, which actually alters the current selection (yuck!). Does anyone know how to provide a standard CListCtrl (or whatever that actually sits on top of) the mouse-hot-tracking capability? I found some articles on how to provide per cell and per row tooltip text, but its hard to tell what the tooltips relate to without something highlighting...

  We are currently selecting a source control and issue tracking software, and are looking towards Team Foundation Server 2010. Some participants of our project often have slow Internet connection (for example during travel), and therefore it is important for us to have a source control system that does not consume too much traffic. I was unable to find information on traffic consumption when using TFS 2010. Does anyone has such info? Does TFS 2010 support traffic compression? Do other source control systems (like SVN, for example) produce less or more traffic than TFS 2010?

  I want to write a Firefox add-on for advanced history tracking and bookmarking which will send URLs the browser meets during usage (and all the metadata available about the context) to a web service which will keep track of them storing in an SQL database for further access and analysis. I'd like to divide URLs tracked into 5 groups: those I explicitly click to bookmark, those I download by Firefox standard built-in download manager, all other URLs accessed, all URLs met on all viewed pages as hrefs, all other URLs mentioned in HTML sources of all viewed pages. Any ideas of how to get those in an extension?

• Inherit appenders from calling instance in log4j or logback

  In my program I have 2 separate streams of logging events (calling them streams for simplicity, in reality its 2 appenders). Stream1 contains client logging and Stream2 contains control logging. Now this might seem easy, except that certain classes can be both in the client logging and server logging, depending on the situation. Complicating this further is the fact that a command that a client wants takes place in 2 separate threads (one being fetched randomly from a thread pool), so any kind of tracking with MDC or NDC isn't possible. What would really simplify this is if the logger could inherit the appenders from the calling instance. That way I can setup 2 appenders for 2 loggers and be done. However I have no idea how to do it cleanly or easily. Can anyone offer any advice on how to do so? Note: If something needs to be passed around, I do have a event bean that gets passed to everything in the chain that can be used if necessary.

• Organization of linking to external libraries in C++

  In a cross-platform (Windows, FreeBSD) C++ project I'm working on, I am making use of two external libraries, Protocol Buffers and ZeroMQ. In both projects, I am tracking the latest development branch, so these libraries are recompiled / replaced often. For a development scenario, where is the best place to keep libprotobuf.{a,lib} and zeromq.{so,dll}? Should I have my build script copy them from their respective project directories into my local project's directory (say MyProjectRoot/lib or MyProjectRoot/bin) before I build my project? This seems preferable to tossing things into /usr/local/lib, as I wouldn't want to replace a system-wide stable version with the latest experimental one. Cmake warns me whenever I specify a relative path for linking, so I would suspect copying is a better solution then relative linking? Is this the best approach? Thanks for your help!

  Hello. How would I get last 12 digits of a string using mysql? Let's say I have a varchar field with a tracking number, that may be anywhere from 5 to 20 varchars long. But I only need to select last 12 digits or less if there are less. so in a field = 12345678123456789012 I would only need to get what's in brackets field = 12345678[123456789012] I saw a few examples using mid, etc, but they dont' produce the desired result or I can't find an example that makes sense :-( Thank you.

• Why hasn't anybody started a hosted continuous integration service?

  There's a dozen services that provide hosted version control, hosted ticket tracking, hosted project management, and combinations of all of the above, there's even hosted web-based IDEs. But nobody's yet offered a hosted continuous integration service; at least that I can find. The concept seems simple enough: I register and provide the URL to my source code repository, it grabs my code and builds it via ant/rake/whatever, then runs the suite of tests and some metrics (code coverage, performance, etc.). Is there some prohibitive barrier to entry I'm not considering?

  I am using OpenCV sample code “peopledetect.cpp” to detect and track pedestrians. The code uses HoG for feature extraction and SVM for classification. Please find the reference paper used here. The camera is mounted on the wall at a height of 10 feet and 45 degree down. There is no restriction on the pedestrian movement within the frame. I want to track the detected pedestrians’ movement within the frame. The issue I am facing is pedestrians are detected only in the middle region of the frame as most of the features are not visible as soon as the pedestrian enters the frame region. I want to track each person’s movement in the entire frame region. How to do it? Is tracking required? Can anyone give any reference to blogs/codes?

• Syncing SQL Server 2008 Databases over HTTP using WCF & Sync Framework

  I've tried to get a solution for the above said question from MSDN Social and other resources from Microsoft. I was specifically looking for offline scenarios where client come online only to fetch updates from the Server. There are plenty of articles on Sync covering Sql CE but MSFT team seems to be ignoring questions from the community on Syncing with Sql Express clients. There is no standard provider for Sql Express client yet, and Sql 2008 change tracking is not supported in the latest release too. Since Sql Replication is an expensive alternative, I have to go with Sync Framework. Have anyone here in SO worked with Sync Framework, syncing through WCF endpoints? Please share code samples or sample projects.

• "Easiest" way to track unique visitors to a page, in real time?

  I need to record in "real time" (perhaps no more than 5 minute delay?) how many unique visitors a given page on my website has had in a given time period. I seek an "easy" way to do this. Preferably the results would be available via a database query. Two things I've tried that failed (so far): Google Analytics: Does the tracking/reporting, but not in real time - results are delayed by hours. Mint Analytics ( http://www.haveamint.com/ ): Tracks in real time, but seems to aggregate data in a way that prevents reporting of unique visitors to a single page over an arbitrary time frame. So, does anyone know how to make Mint Analytics do what I want, or can anyone recommend an analytics package or programmed approach that will do what I need?

• Best way to track impressions/clicks in a bespoke advertisement system?

  I've been asked to create a bespoke advertisement system despite suggesting open source alternatives such as OpenX and DoubleClick for Publishers (the former Google Ad Manager). I've got the basics of the system set up, i.e. uploading creatives, creating positions and a mechanism to place creatives within positions; however, the area I'm stuck with is impression and click tracking. At the moment an impression and click is stored with the creative, but this then means impressions/clicks can't be queried. For example, we can't find how many impressions were in position x between date y and date z. How would I go about storing that kind of data? My theory was store the creative ID, position ID and timestamp in a database table, but given the amount of traffic the site has this would produce a very large database very quickly. If any one could give me a pointer or two, that would be great.

• What lessons have you learned about using a wiki as a development tool?

  I'd asked a question a while back about ways to encourage my team to collaborate. The tool we use is a wiki. Since this is the first time we are using the wiki (formally and as a team), we are learning by committing mistakes. One of the lessons has been that a wiki isn't suitable for tracking activities. It is better to use a tool built for-the-job (will elaborate if necessary). Are there other such anti-patterns? What development tasks would you NOT recommend using a wiki for (even though it may seem suitable at first glance)? Edit: Making this a community-wiki since it is probably unlikely that there will be 'one' right answer.

  I have DHTML content inside a fieldset. This includes plain html, nested objects (even other fieldsets), and value change of input, select, and textarea objects. I'd like to change the border of the fieldset if the contents have been changed. The following works: $('fieldset[name=qsfs127]').children('input').change(function(){ $(this).parent('fieldset').css({border:'1px solid red'}); }) This handles the input; I can extend it to select and textarea. Questions: How can I do the same for html changes? Can all of this change-tracking be done by comparing current html() to stored one? If yes for (2), will this handle cases of "undo"?   I just integrated the addthis sharing buttons into my website. I'd like to use the addthis buttons in reason of their tracking and reporting functionality. However they are blocked by adblock plus and other adblockers. Considering that nowaday 30% of internet users use an adblocker I thought of making a work around for those. I integrated manual sharing buttons into my website. So far so good. Do you have any idea on how to hide my manual sharing buttons if the addthis buttons are shown. Or better said, don't hide them if the addthis buttons are removed by a addblocker? Is it possible to detect an adblocker through js? thx, I really appreciate your help!
