  • Margin on the top in LaTex

    I am now writing a thesis which is required to have 1 and half inches on the left or binding side, and 1 inch on the other three sides. I just have my print-out checked in the binding office and I was told the margins are not okay, especially the one on the top is not enough, a little less than 1 inch. See the figure below: I wonder which commands are responsible for the margins on the four sides, especially for the one on the top? I provide links to two files I believe that control the layout and format of the thesis:jhu12.clo and thesis.cls. Or instead of modifying the LaTex files, is thre some setting when printing the pdf file to control these margins on the print-out? Thanks and regards! EDIT: This is the print-out of command \layout It shows "one inch + \voffset" for the top (the NO. 2 item). But the staff at the binding office use his ruler to show it is less than 1 inch. How to adjust the margins in LaTex then? Thanks!

    Hi! I'm trying to set the label backgroundColor of my UITableViewCells and it does absolutely nothing at all. I wonder if there's another way of doing this, so I'm asking!   • I want to version control my entire slice

    I'm renting a slice (i.e., a VPS) from Slicehost. I've a spent a day or two filling up /usr with my favorite packages, /etc with configs and init scripts, and so on. Now I want to: save this whole setup somewhere (e.g., to load onto another machine). see what changes I've made to which files revert changes, tag revisions, and all that other good version control stuff Saving a disk image gives me (1), but not (2) and (3). Using Subversion (svn import / svn://someotherhost) might give me all three, but I expect problems if I actually try to check a project out into / and maintain .svn directories in root-owned areas. And to load my setup onto a fresh slice, I'd need to install an svn client on it first. Is there a good way to do what I want to do?

    I would like to be able to time a page load time in ASP.net (VBscript). Adding Trace="true" to the page directive is nice, but I need to actually time an event and store it in a variable. In ASP it was easy with the Timer object, but in .net I can't find anything on Google.   • Why Sql not bringing back results unless I set varchar size?

    I've got an SQL script that fetches results based on the colour passed to it, but unless I set the size of the variable defined as a varchar to (50) no results are returned. If I use: like ''+@Colour+'%' then it works but I don't really want to use it in case it brings back results I don't need or want. The column FieldValue has a type of Varchar(Max) (which can't be changed as this field can store different things). It is part of aspdotnetstorefront package so I can't really change the tables or field types. I can open the Admin website if I use a browser running on the server by browsing to: http:// localhost:4848/ I would like to access it from a remote machine by browsing to something like http:// mydomain.com:4848/ The firewall is definitely allowing traffic through on that port (4848) and I can access the application server by browsing to: http:// mydomain.com:8080/ How can I allow remote access to the administration website?

    What i'm trying to do is automate the clicking of a button if a condition is met but there are other buttons that are on the page that have the same name, but do different things. Example: Accept Button-->Some random Text1-->more random Text1 : "onclick=randomwebpage.com/12345.php" Accept button-->some random Text2-->more random Text2 : "onclick=randomwebpage.com/67890.php" All Accept buttons belong to the same button class "buttong". How would I simulate a click using the webBrowser controls?

  • Doctrine: Multiple (whereIn OR whereIn) query?

    I'm having trouble crafting a fairly simple query with Doctrine... I have two arrays ($countries, $cities) and I need to check whether database record values would match any inside either. I'm looking for something like: ->whereIn('country', 'city', $countries, $cities) ... with 'country' being a WHERE IN for $countries and 'city' being a WHERE IN for $city. I could separate the two out but the needed query has lots of other conditions so that's not possible. The resulting SQL I'm after would be: SELECT ... WHERE ... AND ... AND ... AND ('country' IN (1,2,3) OR 'city' IN (7,8,9)) AND ... AND ...; One could therefore think of it also as a bracketing issue only. Anyone know if this is possible with Doctrine DQL? I've looked through the documentation but can't find any direction. Thanks

  • PIL saves image colour wrong

    I have an image. I want to resize it using PIL, but it come out like this. Even without a resize it still messes up the colour. The Notepad sample program on Google's website refers to <script src="closure-library/base.js" > </script > Can you simply download closure-library/base.js somewhere and start playing with the UI examples? When I scroll the page (lots of text gets injected into the page -- it is a full-text search app) the lightgray background is painted right across the text, as shown in the attached image. Is there a way to cause the browser to recalculate page-depth after injecting content? Or is this problem related to this line: titleDiv.innerHTML += content; Is it better to add titleDiv's content a node at a time?   • Subversion Repository Layout

    Most subversion tools create a default repository layout with /trunk, /branches and /tags. The documentation also recommends not using separate repositories for each project, so that code can be more easily shared. Following that advice has led to me having a repository with the following layout: /trunk /Project1 /Project2 /branches /Project1 /Project2 /tags /Project1 /Project2 and so on, you get the idea. Over time, I've found this structure a bit clumsy and it occurred to me that there's an alternative interpretation of the recommendations, such as: /Project1 /trunk /branches /tags /Project2 /trunk /branches /tags So, which layout do people use, and why? Or - is there another way to do things that I've completely missed?

    Hi. Researching various open source, web-based document management/version control systems. I've checked google/questions here, etc... I'm looking for a lightweight web-based (apache) document mgmt/version control app that runs on top of SVN. I need to have the ability to: have multiple users checkin/checkout have a workflow (when userA checks the file in, and finishes the app passes it to the next person, etc... the app needs to allow me to have a structure where the files can be moved as a group. the files will be changed on a monthly basis app needs to have a access/premission control system. some people can see certain files, and perform certain actions on the files I imagine that I'm going to have 40-50 people dealing with the different files. I imagine that I'm going to have 2000-3000 files that have to be massaged. I'd prefer that the app be php based if possible, as opposed to a straight java app. Thanks

  • Commit is VERY slow in my NHibernate / SQLite project

    I've just started doing some real-world performance testing on my Fluent NHibernate / SQLite project, and am experiencing some serious delays when when I Commit to the database. By serious, I mean taking 20 - 30 seconds to Commit 30 K of data! This delay seems to get worse as the database grows. When the SQLite DB file is empty, commits happen almost instantly, but when it grows to 10 Meg, I see these huge delays. The database has 16 tables, averaging 10 columns each. One possible problem is that I'm storing a dozen or so IList members, but they are typically only 200 elements long. But this is a recent addition to Fluent NHibernate automapping, which stores each float in a single table row, so maybe that's a potential problem. Any suggestions on how to track this down? I suspect SQLite is the culprit, but maybe it's NHibernate? I don't have any experience with profilers, but am thinking of getting one. I'm aware of NHibernate Profiler - any recommendations for profilers that work well with SQLite?   • xsd-based code generator to build xml?

    I have a schema (xsd), and I want to create xml files that conform to it. I've found code generators that generate classes which can be loaded from an xml file (CodeSynthesis). But I'm looking to go the other direction. I want to generate code that will let me build an object which can easily be written out as an xml file. In C++. I might be able to use Java for this, but C++ would be preferable. I'm on solaris, so a VisualStudio plugin won't help me (such as xsd2code). Is there a code generator that lets me do this?
