• Why doesn't Inno Setup compiler set the version info correctly from hudson?

  If I run Inno Setup compiler from a command line/batch file it creates an exe with the version information in the file name. However, when I run from hudson (same command line) I don't get the version information. Perhaps I am missing something. Is this a known issue? This is the way I am doing it in the iss script file. #define FileVerStr GetFileVersion(SrcApp) EDIT: The env vars are all set for all users - not just my login - so the service has access to everything that the command line build does. • Java 6 ScriptEngine and JSON.parse problem

  The Rhino release that is included in Java 6 ScriptEngine does not have a JSON parser. I've tried including crockfords JSON2.js in my script on the scriptengine.eval(). When I try to do the JSON.parse, it ends up giving me a script error that .replace is an unknown function. .replace is referenced several places in JSON2, and it works fine inside a browser (IE7, IE8, FF3). Anyone see this and have a suggestion?

  I have a pair of shell programs that talk over a named pipe. The reader creates the pipe when it starts, and removes it when it exits. Sometimes, the writer will attempt to write to the pipe between the time that the reader stops reading and the time that it removes the pipe. reader: while condition; do read data <$PIPE; do_stuff; done writer: echo $data >>$PIPE reader: rm $PIPE when this happens, the writer will hang forever trying to open the pipe for writing. Is there a clean way to give it a timeout, so that it won't stay hung until killed manually? • How do I share an NSArrayController between two nib files?

  I have an array of images, and two nib files. One nib file has a window that displays the images in an NSTableView. The other nib has a window that draws the array of images into an NSView, and also draws a highlight over the images that are selected. The array of images is controlled by an NSArrayController. I'm having trouble getting the two nibs to share the NSArrayController. I would have two separate NSArrayControllers bound to the same content, but I also want both nibs to share the controller's selection; that is, if you select an image in the table window, it also becomes selected in the other window. Is there a standard way to do this?

• Javascript timer in parent window is cancelled on child window close

  I have a user UserControl on a web page. There is a javascript timer started by the control on the client that causes a web service to be called every few seconds. If the user clicks on the control a new browser window is opened (with window.open() ) to show a different page. Note the onclick returns false so there is no postback to the page. The page displayed in the second window also has a timer that operates in the same way as the first (calls a WebService at intervals). Upto this point everything is fine - each of the timers continue to run in their respective window. However, when I close the second window (either by clicking on the cross of the window or by calling self.close() ) the timer in the first stops. I've no idea why. Is there some relationship between the opener and opened window that I'm missing ?

  In the article Using Java DB in Desktop Applications the Address Book demo have a method disconnect which have a try-catch block that catch and ignores the exception. If you add a printStackTrace you can see that the exception always occur. What's wrong here? The JavaDB should not throw this exception, or they should fix something in the example program?

  I love the idea of historical debugging in VS 2010. However, I am really disappointed that unmanaged C++ is left out. IntelliTrace supports debugging Visual Basic and C# applications that use .NET version 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, or 4. You can debug most applications, including applications that were created by using ASP.NET, Windows Forms, WPF, Windows Workflow, and WCF. IntelliTrace does not support debugging C++, script, or other languages. Debugging of F# applications is supported on an experimental basis. (editorial) [This is really poor support in my opinion. .NET is less in need of this assistance than unmanaged c++. I an getting a little tired of the status of plain old C++ and its second-class status in the MS tools world. Yes, I realize it is probably WAAY easier to implement this with .NET and MS are pushing .NET as the future, and yes, I know that C++ is an "old" language, but that does not diminish the fact that there are lots of C++ apps out there and there will continue to be more apps built with C++. I sincerely hope MS has not dropped C++ as a supported developer tool/language- that would be a shame.] Does anyone know if there are plans for it to support C++?

• How to enforce remote gnupg signing of Mercurial repository only when new tags are created?

  I know how to configure the Mercurial signing extension. The problem that I'm having is that I don't want to sign each individual change set, I only want to sign revisions that introduce new version tags. That's easily accomplished locally, however I can't come up with a way to enforce this on the remote server. I'd like people to continue to be able to push their changes as normal, unless adding a release tag, which should be accompanied by a signature. The end result should be that anyone cloning our repository can easily see a list of signed revisions, which point to a list of signed releases. Hopefully, I've just missed something obvious in hooklib. Has anyone else accomplished this, if so, how?

I have executed the batch in SSMS with “Include Actual execution plan “ and having Profiler running. The plan shows that the first query cost is 88% relative to the batch and the second is 12%, but the profiler says that durations of the first and second query are 17ms and 210 ms respectively, the overall time is 229, which is not 12 and 88.. What is going on? Is there a way how I can determine in the execution plan which is the slowest part of the query?

• Oracle ALTER DATABASE OPEN

  Hi everyone, Im having some trouble with an oracle database. Every time i try to connect, i get this message. ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress I searched the web, and found that the solution is to execute an alter database open command, but what I dont understand is where should i execute if, since I cant connect to the database.
