  • Avoid Flickering in Windows Forms?

    Double buffering not working with combo-box. is there any another methods to avoid flickering in windows forms? i have one windows form with number of panels in it. I'm showing only one panel at a time based on my menu selection. i have one icon panel,one header panel and the combo box. based on the selected item of that combo-box the gridview1 and 2 are filling. when I'm rapidly selecting the combo-box item using my keyboard down arrow the icon panel and the header panel are always repainting. i need to keep that both without any change. this two panels producing some flashing effect(ie,they are blinking or flashing) while I'm changing the combo box selected index. is there any way to avoid this flashing.? i tried double-buffered enabled in form constructor and form load event. Please Help..............

  • Form.Show() is not showing it's child controls

    I have a form, frmPleaseWait, that has a MarqueeProgressBar and a Label that I want to use when the UI is loading the data in a poorly structured app we have. The problem is that frmPleaseWait.Show() shows the form but not the controls in it. It is just a white rectangle. Now frmPleaseWait.ShowDialog() shows the child controls but doesn't let the UI load it's data. What am I missing? Below is a code snippet from where I am trying this.     Hi there I have a List that I want to bind to a DataGridView in a windows forms app. however, I cannot for the life of me find the DataPropertyName I need to show what I want. I have had similar problems with binding this list to a listbox. what i really want is to show .ToString("dddd, dd MMMM yyyy HH:mm"), or certainly more than the standard 'date' part of the datetime - do i need to add a property of my own? public partial class DateTime{ public string myFormat{ get{return this.ToString("dddd dd MMM yyyy HH:mm");} } } or some such? thanks nat

    I have the below LINQ method that I use to create the empty EmploymentPLan. After that I simply UPDATE. For some reason this works perfectly for myself but for my users they are getting the following error -- The target table 'dbo.tblEmploymentPrevocServices' of the DML statement cannot have any enabled triggers if the statement contains an OUTPUT clause without INTO clause. This application is a WinForm app that connects to a local SQL 2005 Express database that is a part of a Merge Replication topology. Can I do this faster?

  • LINQ EF not saving to database...

    I guess this is a continuation of the last question I asked: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2587542/bulk-insert-and-update-with-ado-net-entity-framework. I am not getting any errors while doing inserts yet no data is actually going into my DB. My DB is a SDF file (SQL CE). Any ideas what to check?   • Where do I control the behavior of the "X" close button in the upper right of a winform?

    I'm venturing into making my VB.NET application a little better to use by making some of the forms modeless. I think I've figured out how to use dlg.Show() and dlg.Hide() instead of calling dlg.ShowDialog(). I have an instance of my modeless dialog in my main application form: Public theModelessDialog As New dlgModeless To fire up the modeless dialog I call theModelessDialog.Show() and within the OK and Cancel button handlers in dlgModeless I have Private Sub OK_Button_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OK_Button.Click Me.DialogResult = System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Me.Hide() End Sub Private Sub Cancel_Button_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Cancel_Button.Click Me.DialogResult = System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.Cancel Me.Hide() End Sub and that seems to work fine. The "X" button in the upper right is getting me, though. When I close the form with that button, then try to reopen the form, I get ObjectDisposedException was unhandled. Cannot access a disposed object. I feel like I'm most of the way there but I can't figure out how to do either of the following: Hide that "X" button Catch the event so I don't dispose of the object (just treat it like I hit Cancel) Any ideas? The class of this dialog is System.Windows.Forms.Form. Thanks as always!

String str2= "RATE" ; And RATE(str2) should be matched with RATE which is substring of string mainString but not with NETRATE which is also substring of string mainString. How can we do that ?

When debugging and I explore answers (the datasource) I see that Id (ValueMember) is exactle the same as AnswerId (in the if statement). Both have the same type (long) and the same value, but SelectedValue stays null. Is there something I don't see?

I have a desktop application, and I want that application to be able to sort of "post" some information (i.e. email address, username, user-selected options (just plain text) etc) to an application or "web service" on my ASP.NET web server.     I am trying to create a packet analyzer for an online game using C# and I am new to c#. I have 2 RichTextBoxes, 1 shows the packet in bytes and the other one shows the packet in ANSI. Here is what I want to achieve: When I select(highlight) data in the byte text box, I want the corresponding data in the ANSI text box to also be highlighted. (and vice-versa) When I change data in the 1 of the textboxes, I want the corresponding data in the other textbox to also be changed. How do I do these?

  • Linq to Entities strange deploying behavior.

    Hi I started building apps with this technology and I am facing a weird problem... on some machines I need to add theese lines to the app.config to get to work: <system.data> <DbProviderFactories> <add name="MySQL Data Provider" invariant="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" description=".Net Framework Data Provider for MySQL" type="MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlClientFactory, MySql.Data, Version=6.3.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d" /> </DbProviderFactories> </system.data> while in other machines it runs well without theese lines.... the thing is that when I add theese lines the app wont run on machines that did not needed theese lines in the firs place, and I would like not to publish to versions of the app, is there a way to solve this?

    The following seems to be a relatively common pattern (to me, not to the community at large) to bind a string variable to the contents of a TextBox. class MyBackEndClass { public event EventHandler DataChanged; string _Data; public string Data { get { return _Data; } set { _Data = value; //Fire the DataChanged event } } } class SomeForm : // Form stuff { MyBackEndClass mbe; TextBox someTextBox; SomeForm() { someTextBox.TextChanged += HandleTextBox(); mbe.DataChanged += HandleData(); } void HandleTextBox(Object sender, EventArgs e) { mbe.Data = ((TextBox)sender).Text; } void HandleData(Object sender, EventArgs e) { someTextBox.Text = ((MyBackEndClass) sender).Data; } } The problem is that changing the TextBox fires the changes the data value in the backend, which causes the textbox to change, etc. That runs forever. Is there a better design pattern (other than resorting to a nasty boolean flag) that handles this case correctly? EDIT: To be clear, in the real design the backend class is used to synchronize changes between multiple forms. Therefore I can't just use the SomeTextBox.Text property directly. Billy3

    In a form, compare BeginInvoke (new Action (() => { MessageBox.Show ()); })); with Invoke (new Action (() => { MessageBox.Show ()); })); What is the difference, and when should I use one over the other? How is the behavior affected by the message pump of the MessageBox? I did some testing and found that both methods block the UI. The only difference is that Invoke is actually called instantly while BeginInvoke takes a (very short) time until the code is run. This is to be expected.
