• asterisk send mute command to jukebox on incoming call

  Hi, We're trialling a Asterisk Now server to take over from our ageing PBX system. One of the "nice to have" features would be the ability to pause or lower the volume on the office jukebox if an incoming call is detected. We currently run a linux jukebox which plays music out of the speakers using mpd and can be controlled by the mpc client. We can manually issue the following command to achieve this: mpc volume 20 Does anyone know how to get asterisk to execute this command or some action that we could hook into when a phone call is incoming to specific extensions?

• Moving from Analogue PBX to digital VoIP?

  I don't even know if this belongs here?. If not, do let me know. So we have an analogue Alkatel PABX system in our little office. We have extensions, direct lines and PBX lines. We are trying to move to a more digital/flexible way of handling the phones and I've heard good things about FreeSwitch. I have zero knowledge about it. My biggest question is how would one handle existing phone lines with such a system. Surely there must be a way to make and receive calls from outside. Just a help in the right direction would be fine. Thanks.

• Can't change Hyper Terminal Hardware Settings

  Anyone here any good with Hyperterminal? Am having a nightmare trying to use it at work to update our telephone extensions. The company who supply our PABX box have told me that XP does strange things to Hyperterminal and that I should use Win2k. Which I did with the same result. I have narrowed the problem dowwn to the Hardware Settings for the connection in Hyper Terminal. No matter what I set (and I need 7E1) it defaults back to 8N1. Has anyone seen this behaviour before and know of a simple way around it? (Apart from buying a more expensive commercial version of Hyper Terminal, as suggested by our support people). Edit: I should point out I have to connect via a phone line so a direct serial connection is not an option. Cheers Tim

• IIS6 Front Page Extension: Set Reply-To in Webbot mailers

  We are running some old legacy IIS6 websites with frontpage extensions. The contact forms (using webbot frontpage extension) use the administrators email address as from address which is pretty cumbersome as our customers tend to click just reply in the requests they receive and we always get these mails and have to bother about them. How do you set a reply-to per webbot form? Or how do you set a from or reply-to globally per IIS6 vhost? In the HTML code it looks like this: <!--webbot bot="SaveResults" S-Email-Format="TEXT/PRE" S-Email-Address="[email protected]" ... --> But this is the recipient address. Additional question: Will it be sufficient to just change this code? Or do I need to apply settings elsewhere?

• SVN check out to samba directory

  I'm trying to svn co to a directory on Ubuntu, shared via samba, to OS X, but I get the following error (in OS X). svn: In directory 'site/product/tests' svn: Can't open file 'site/product/tests/.svn/tmp/text-base/._base.py.svn-base': No such file or directory My smb.conf file includes the following changes: unix extensions = no browseable = yes public = yes writable = yes delete readonly = yes create mask = 0775 directory mask = 0775 valid users = %S read only = no The checkout works fine locally (on the Ubuntu machine). What am I missing? More detail: Later inspection showed that the svn error couldn't find the file with 3, then 2 underscores: .___init__.py.svn-base Whereas listing the directory in OS X showed 2, then 2 underscores: __init__.py.svn-base And listing the same directory in a successful checkout on Ubuntu shows nothing (because it's a temporary directory?) I've tried the mangled = no setting in share settings, to no effect.

• How to burn a CD-ROM from a Mac for Solaris

  I would like to burn a CD using a Mac (10.5) which I can then access from a Solaris 10 x86 machine. This partially works: Insert blank CD and let the Finder open it so it creates a "Recordable CD" window for it. Drag the files to be burned into the "Recordable CD" window Burn (there are no options except for speed) Then to mount in Solaris: mount -f hsfs -o ro /dev/dsk/foo /mnt/bar The problem here is that Solaris will see all the filenames as lower case and it will only allow each file name to contain one period (these are HSFS limitations). My guess is that the Mac is not burning the disc with the Rock Ridge extensions that allow for the full file names to be preserved. Is there some combination of burning tools/options and mount options that will make this work?

I can see hidden Files with FarManager and I cannot see them in Windows Explorer(even with show hidden files option?!!) How can I restore it to its original file extension? Do you have any tool to scan the converted file and restore it to its original file extension? What the virus name? how can I remove it manually?

The exceptions are being thrown when trying to access directories that are virtual dirs in IIS, and plain old UNC network shares What the implications for enabling the WebDAV extensions on our live web server? And will this solve our problems with the exceptions in our event log?

I created a symlink using: ln -s /media/MYDISK /home/camilo/MYDISK chmod 777 /home/camilo/MYDISK I'm setting up smb.conf like this: [myshare1] comment = external disk browsable = yes path = /home/camilo/MYDISK guest ok = yes read only = no create mask = 0775 Also, in the [global] section I tried adding the following lines: follow symlinks = yes wide links = yes unix extensions = no The problem is that when browsing the shared folder in Windows 7, I get a "\\etc\myshare1 is not accessible" error. When pointing the path to a regular folder it works fine. Also, when I point it directly to /media/MYDISK, it shows the same error. EDIT: to make it more interesting, I have no graphical interface, so I need to touch the config files directly..

• Input not supported message when monitor is powered off then back on

  I've been getting a message on my monitor where "Input not supported" is floating around. This only happens when I manually turn the monitor off and then later turn it back on. Leaving the monitor on and allowing it to go to the screen saver doesn't seem to cause the issue (but I prefer to turn the monitor off if I'm going to be away from the computer for any length of time). Any ideas what might cause this, only when the monitor is turned off manually? • Ubuntu + latest samba version, symlinks no longer work on share mounted in windows

  I just apt-getted (apt-got?) the latest software for my Ubuntu 9.10 linux box, and I noticed that samba was the included in the update. After the install, the symlinks in my home directory no longer work when mounted as a drive in my linux box. They worked literally seconds before I did the update. All my normal directories work just fine. Viewing the directory listing on the command line, all the files, dirs & links have the exact same permissions, yet this is the error I get: Location is not available L:\LinkDir is not accessible. Access is denied. I looked on the forums, and i saw this option for the smb.conf follow symlinks = yes wide symlinks = yes unix extensions = no I put those in, but they had no effect. Has anyone had this problem yet?

• Accurate Windows equivalent of the Unix which(1) command

  It's easy enough to write a simple script that works like the which(1) command from unix, which searches for a given command along the PATH. Unfortunately, the CreateProcess function is not so simple, so this type of script does not give accurate results: CreateProcess looks in a number of directories not in the PATH, looks for files with all of the extensions listed in PATHEXT, etc. Worse, who knows what might be added in future versions of Windows? Anyway, my question is: is there a robust, accurate which(1) equivalent for Windows, which always tells you what file CreateProcess would find?

  I am trying to get read/write support for NTFS drives, under Mac os 10.6. I have tried to use NTFS 3G, but it seems it does not support 64 bit kernels. I was unable to change my Mac's Kernel to 32 bit. Is there a solution? I am running Snow Leopard, under a 2011 MBP13 I am getting the following error. • Java works under Firefox but crashes Internet Explorer

  Java works under Firefox and Chrome but not under IE. Here's what I tried (the advice normally given on forums): Java applet activated in tools - internet options - security tab - personnalise - Java applets Activated in tools - manage add-ons - tool bars and extensions - Java (tm) SSV2 helper - Activate Activated in tools - internet options - advanced tab - Use JRE for applet I've also deleted my temporary internet files (with Ccleaner), Reinstalled IE8 It is also set as the default Java for IE through the control panel - Java - Advanced tab - default Java for browsers - Microsoft Internet Explorer IE version: 8.0.6001.18702 Java version: 1.7.0_03. (also tried with 1.6.0_31) Windows XP SP3. Any advice? Thanks :) edit: I have activated the ActiveX controls through manage add-ons - all add-ons but now, although the coffe cup loading screen appears (which did not before) it makes IE crash (which is new). I might have fiddled too much with the registry by trying to completely remove Java to reinstall it, so I ran "rereg" (a tool to repair dlls and their registry entries) without success.

• Compiling zip component for PHP 5.2.11 in MAMP PRO

  I installed MAMP PRO on my Macbook Pro (10.6) some time ago. Now I would like to use zip functions in php. I found that I must add zip.so to my extension folder and edited php.ini. On my computer I have two different versions of PHP one in MAMP folder and other in user/lib which was pre-installed on my system. Now I wish to compile my zip library for MAMP version. I got zip sources for my version of PHP then in terminal called function /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize so it uses mamp php version ./configure make then I moved compile zip.so to extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613. When MAMP is launched it returns this error [11-Apr-2010 16:33:27] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: zip: Unable to initialize module Module compiled with module API=20090626, debug=0, thread-safety=0 PHP compiled with module API=20060613, debug=0, thread-safety=0 These options need to match in Unknown on line 0 Can somebody explain to me how to do this the right way.

  I'm trying to get the mod_h264_streaming to work with my Apache2 server. I downloaded a precompiled version of the mod from here. I read here that all I have to do is extract the file to my modules folder, which I did, and add LoadModule h264_streaming_module modules/mod_h264_streaming.so AddHandler h264-streaming.extensions .mp4 to the httpd.conf, which I also did. However, I get this error when I restart Apache: Syntax error on line 173 of C:/Program Files (x86)/Apache Group/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load C:/Program Files (x86)/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_h264_streaming.so into server: The specified module could not be found. • Facebook unresponsive in Chrome, pepper flash disabled

  Facebook becomes unresponsive after a second or two when I open Chrome. This problem happens every few weeks or so, and it's incredibly annoying. I've disabled Chrome's internal pepper flash: http://imgur.com/8hlqvaX I've also tried disabling all extensions, and even tried it in incognito mode. Facebook works just fine in Firefox, but it's totally unusable in Chrome. The problem goes away eventually, but it returns every now and then and it's super annoying. I cannot find this setting anywhere in the Firefox options. Somewhere there is (or was) a dialog box with an item that said something like 'Page to load in new tab'. Where was it? • Sorting downloads folder with bash script

  I'm having a really tough time getting the LDAP extensions to work in PHP on a WAMP server. Here is what I've done: Went to C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\modules and made sure that mod_ldap.so exists. I've gone into C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf\httpd.conf and made sure that this line is not commented out: LoadModule ldap_module modules/mod_ldap.so I've gone into C:\Program Files\PHP\php.ini and made sure this line is not commented out: extension=php_ldap.dll I've made sure C:\Program Files\PHP is in the Path I've made sure C:\Program Files\PHP contains libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll Restart apache phpinfo() still doesn't show mod_ldap as being turned on. It shows util_ldap under Loaded Modules, but that's the only reference anywhere to LDAP. For a bit more background, I originally posted this on SO.

I would like extensions to make it more Chrome-like: in particular, 1: A tabbed theme that works like Chrome. 2: One address/search bar that will go to URLs and submit search queries appropriately. (I have already installed "Download Statusbar.") I am looking on a relatively superficial level; I'm not hoping to simulate V8 or Chrome's screaming render times.   In the US, Flowroute (low cost SIP trunking provider) provides P-Asserted-Identity in the SIP invite request header (example screenshots). It also allows you to set the caller ID for outgoing calls, for example by using the follow in extensions.conf for Asterisk: exten => id,n,Set(CALLERID(all)=123) However, in the UK, I've tried a couple of SIP providers and none of them let me do either of those things (see P-Asserted-Identity or set the caller-ID). Is this because of some sort of restriction in the UK phone networks, or is it only available to really expensive SIP trunking providers?
