• How To Correctly Specify A Default Value For A String Field In A PHP/MySQL Prepared Statement

  I'm trying to debug some auto-generated code, but I am a mySQL noob. Everything goes fine ultil the "prepare" line below, and then for some reason $mysqli_stmt is false, yielding the stated error. Could it have something to do with the SQL_MODE = 'ANSI'? The failure seems to have something to do with the string 'xxx' below, but it still happens no matter what I change it to. • Problems with variadic function (C)

The code compiled and run without crashing on an XP, when I compiled it using VS2005. I have now moved the code to Ubuntu Karmic and I am having problems with the stricter compiler on Linux. Is anyone able to spot what is causing the parameter not to be read correctly in the var_arg() statement? I am compiling using gcc version 4.4.1

I could replace all the encoding strings, but surely there is a better way? Thanks

  I have a class where I like to initialize my var by reading a configfile, which produces intermediate objects/vals, which I would like to group and hide in a method. Here is the bare minimum of the problem - I call the ctor with a param i, in reality a File to parse, and the init-method generates the String s, in reality more complicated than here, with a lot of intermediate objects being created: class Foo (val i: Int) { var s : String; def init () { s = "" + i } init () } This will produce the error: class Foo needs to be abstract, since variable s is not defined. In this example it is easy to solve by setting the String to "": var s = "";, but in reality the object is more complex than String, without an apropriate Null-implementation. I know, I can use an Option, which works for more complicated things than String too: var s : Option [String] = None def init () { s = Some ("" + i) } or I can dispense with my methodcall. Using an Option will force me to write Some over and over again, without much benefit, since there is no need for a None else than to initialize it that way I thought I could. Is there another way to achieve my goal?

• Android Service setForeground While Display Sleeps

  I have a background Android Service that's purpose is to communicate with another device (non-phone) using a Bluetooth socket. Everything works fine except that the service gets stopped and restarted by the OS when the phone display is sleeping. This restart sometimes leaves a 15-20 minute gaps where there is no communication between the Service and the Bluetooth device and I need to be able to query the device every minute. Is startForeground the proper approach?   I have some problems when I try to bind the height and width of a window to properties in my view model. Here is a small sample app to illustrate the problem.   I've used the directions from the release notes and have been able to navigate most pages - my unit tests are not comprehensive but most all pass. However...when I attempt to edit an existing or create a new user I'm getting the error pasted below - notice that it's references version=1... - this project started life as a v1 and was converted to mvc2 at the RTM. • How do I execute queries upon DB connection in Rails?

  I have certain initializing functions that I use to set up audit logging on the DB server side (ie, not rails) in PostgreSQL. At least one has to be issued (setting the current user) before inserting data into or updating any of the audited tables, or else the whole query will fail spectacularly. I can easily call these every time before running any save operation in the code, but DRY makes me think I should have the code repeated in as few places as possible, particularly since this diverges greatly from the ideal of database agnosticism. Currently I'm attempting to override ActiveRecord::Base.establish_connection in an initializer to set it up so that the queries are run as soon as I connect automatically, but it doesn't behave as I expect it to. However, the code never seems to get called, because any attempt to run a save or an update on a database object fails as I predicted earlier. If this isn't a proper way to execute code immediately on connection to the database, then what is?

  Ok so I am very new to html and the web. Right now I am trying to generate list items on the fly and then have them post back to the web server so I know what the person is trying to obtain.   I'm now working on a project and I have one class that implements the ArrayAccess interface. Howewer, I'm getting an error that says that my implementation: must be compatible with that of ArrayAccess::offsetSet().   I've written a TFS plugin that impliments the ISubscribe interface, and creates an external ticket base off of the contents of a check-in note. What I would like to do, if when I go back through older TFS check-ins in VS and edit a check-in note, the plugin would process that event and create an external ticket retroactively. What event / SubscribedType do I need to subscribe to in order for ProcessEvents to fire?   Hi There, I am using Myfaces and Trinidad tld's for page design. In that, I am trying to implement Dialog box which will going to open on button click with tacking some value from parent window and return result to Parent window. Now the problem is I can send value to Dialog box and also get return from dialog box successfully, but there is problem to show return value on Parent window because parent window is not reflecting that value and ask for refresh page. When I refresh page, it again open the pop up, i.e. it resending the previous request.   Hi, after extensive trawling of the internet I still havent found any solution for this problem. I`m writing a small C++ app that connects to an online database and outputs the data in a listbox. I need to enable a search function using an edit box, but I cant get the query to work while using a variable. My code is: res = mysql_perform_query (conn, "select distinct artist from Artists"); //res = mysql_perform_query (conn, "select album from Artists where artist = ' ' "); while((row = mysql_fetch_row(res)) != NULL){ CString str; UpdateData(); str = ("%s\n", row[0]); UpdateData(FALSE); m_list_control.AddString(str); } the first "res = " line is working fine, but I need the second one to work. I have a member variable m_search_edit set up for the edit box, but any way I try to include it in the sql statement causes errors. eg. res = mysql_perform_query (conn, "select album from Artists where artist = '"+m_search_edit+" ' "); causes this error: error C2664: 'mysql_perform_query' : cannot convert parameter 2 from 'class CString' to 'char *' No user-defined-conversion operator available that can perform this conversion, or the operator cannot be called" And when I convert m_search_edit to a char* it gives me a " Cannot add 2 pointers" error. Any way around this???
