• WPF DockPanel doesn't respect the "Filled" control's desired size

  I have the following Xaml (simplified for brevity, but will repro the problem in Xamlpad or Kaxaml): <DockPanel Width="400"> <TextBlock DockPanel.Dock="Left" TextWrapping="Wrap"> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Vestibulum massa metus, ornare in fringilla nec, fringilla at orci. Nunc pharetra enim sit amet sapien aliquet eu euismod turpis vehicula. Aenean gravida tempus lectus ut ornare. Nullam massa augue, suscipit vel consectetur fringilla, pretium vitae neque. </TextBlock> <Button MinWidth="100" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left">Hello world</Button> </DockPanel> My problem is that I want the Button to take its minimum 100px of space, and for the text to wrap suitably to leave that space. However, what happens is that the text wraps as close to 400px as possible, and then the Button is clipped. If I Snoop the output I can see that the button is rendering at the desired 100px, but it's being clipped off the side of the DockPanel. If I reverse the Dock (so the button is docked "Right" and the TextBlock fills) then I get the layout I want, but unfortunately that's not an option due to the surrounding layout. Is there something I can do that will make the DockPanel a) not clip and b) layout in a way that respects the MinWidth? Or am I stuck finding an alternative layout mechanism? Thanks in advance!

  I am developing a C# VS 2008 / SQL Server 2008 website, but now I cannot display the Gridview containing my table. I included the Default.aspx and aspx.cs files below.   I have implemented the command side of DDD using the domain model and repositories, but how do I implement the query side? Do I create an entirely new domain model for the UI, and where is this kept in the project structure...in the domain layer, the UI layer, etc? Also, what do I use as my querying mechanism, do I create new repositories specifically for the UI domain objects, something other than repositories, or something else?

• KeyUp processed for wrong control

  I have made a simple test application for the issue, two winforms each containing a button. The button on the first form opens the other form when clicked. It also subscribes to keyup events. The second form has its button set as "AcceptButton" and in the Clicked event we sleep for 1s and then set DialogResult to true (the sleep is to simulate some processing done) When enter is used to close this second form the KeyUp event of the button on the first form is triggered, even though the key was released well before the second had passed so the second form was still shown and focused. If any key other then enter is pressed in the second form the event is not triggered for the button on the first form. I am new to SP development, and am already bewildered by the number of different versions of SP, and the VS add-ons. This particular problem has come up, which highlights my confusion. • How do i close the alert dialog that displays custom view

  I have an activity named MainActivity which has a button. On click of that button i am displaying an AlertDialog which contains a custom view named ChildWindow.xml. That custom view has multiple textboxes and a OK button. On click of the OK button, i am calling a method of MainActivity. I am able to access the ChildWindow here as view.getRootView().findViewById(R.id.txtFirstName); Once the user clicks on the OK button, i have to close the alert dialog which i am able to do as view.getRootView().setVisibility(View.GONE); My problem is even though i have closed the the ChildWindow in the above statement, i am able to get reference to the textbox in the next line which means AlertDialog is closed but child window is still there. This is how the OK button click looks like: This works as expected: EditText tb = (EditText) view.getRootView().findViewById(R.id.txtFirstName); Toast toast = Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), tb.getText(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG); toast.show(); view.getRootView().setVisibility(View.GONE); This should not work as i am closing the alert dialog and then getting the reference of the textbox but this works too. view.getRootView().setVisibility(View.GONE); EditText tb = (EditText) view.getRootView().findViewById(R.id.txtFirstName); Toast toast = Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), tb.getText(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG); toast.show(); I think i am closing the alert dialog but i am not destroying it from the memory. Can someone point me out what am i missing here?

  I have a web page with an applet that opens a popup window and also makes Javascript calls. When that Javascript call results in a focus() call on an HTML input, that causes the browser window to push itself in front of the applet window. But only on certain browsers, namely MSIE. On Firefox the applet window remains on top. How can I keep that behavior consistent in MSIE? Note that using the old Microsoft VM for Java also achieves the desired (applet window in front) result. • Decoupling the view, presentation and ASP.NET Web Forms

  I have an ASP.NET Web Forms page which the presenter needs to populate with controls. This interaction is somewhat sensitive to the page-life cycle and I was wondering if there's a trick to it, that I don't know about. I wanna be practical about the whole thing but not compromise testability. Currently I have this: public interface ISomeContract { void InstantiateIn(System.Web.UI.Control container); } This contract has a dependency on System.Web.UI.Control and I need that to be able to do things with the ASP.NET Web Forms programming model. But neither the view nor the presenter may have knowledge about ASP.NET server controls. How do I get around this? How can I work with the ASP.NET Web Forms programming model in my concrete views without taking a System.Web.UI.Control dependency in my contract assemblies? To clarify things a bit, this type of interface is all about UI composition (using MEF). It's known through-out the framework but it's really only called from within the concrete view. The concrete view is still the only thing that knows about ASP.NET Web Forms. However those public methods that say InstantiateIn(System.Web.UI.Control) exists in my contract assemblies and that implies a dependency on ASP.NET Web Forms. I've been thinking about some double dispatch mechanism or even visitor pattern to try and work around this.

I have a Java project that has the following package structure: src |-net | |-binarymuse | |-gwt | |-client | | |-ui | | |-project | | |-Project.java | |-Project.gwt.xml |-overview.html I would like to consolidate the empty subdirectories in the src/ folder so that instead of /src/net/binarymuse/gwt/client/ui/project/ I'd have /src/net.binarymuse.gwt/client.ui.project/. Is this possible? Thanks.

• ajax html vs xml/json responses - perfomance or other reasons

  I've got a fairly ajax heavy site and some 3k html formatted pages are inserted into the DOM from ajax requests. What I have been doing is taking the html responses and just inserting the whole thing using jQuery. My other option is to output in xml (or possibly json) and then parse the document and insert it into the page. I've noticed it seems that most larger site do things the json/xml way. Google Mail returns xml rather than formatted html. Is this due to performance? or is there another reason to use xml/json vs just retrieving html? From a javascript standpoint, it would seem injecting direct html is simplest. In jQuery I just do this jQuery.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "getpage.php", data: requestData, success: function(response){ jQuery('div#putItHear').html(response); } with an xml/json response I would have to do jQuery.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "getpage.php", data: requestData, success: function(xml){ $("message",xml).each(function(id) { message = $("message",xml).get(id); $("#messagewindow").prepend(""+$("author",message).text()+ ": "+$("text",message).text()+ ""); }); } }); clearly not as efficient from a code standpoint, and I can't expect that it is better browser performance, so why do things the second way?
