• Design Pattern for Server Emulator

  I wanna build server socket emulator, but I want implement some design pattern there. I will described my case study that I have simplified like these: My Server Socket will always listen client socket. While some request message come from the client socket, the server emulator will response the client through the socket. the response is response code. '00' will describe request message processed successfully, and another response code expect '00' will describe there are some error while processing the message request. IN the server there are some UI, this UI contain check response parameter such as. response code timeout interval While the server want to response the client message, the response code taken from input parameter response form UI check the timeout interval, it will create sleep thread and the interval taken from timeout interval input from UI. I have implement the function, but I create it in one class. I feel it so sucks. Can you suggest me what class / interface that I must create to refactor my code.

  The problem is where a class should be created in my code. An example is I have a UI class and a main logic class that controls other objects. Should the main logic class create the UI object, or should the UI object create the instance of the main logic class? An explanation of which method is best and why would be ideal. Thanks.

• Need to have an aspx page with a Feature in SharePoint 2010

  I have added a custom button to the server ribbon in SharePoint (I have used a feature with Farm scope, so that the button is visible throughout the various site collections). I understand that I haven't deployed the assembly, but shouldn't the aspx page be compiled Just In Time?

  I am using a layered architecture with the Entity Framework. Here's What I came up with till now (All the projects Except UI are class library): Entities: The POCO Entities. Completely persistence ignorant. No Reference to other projects. Generated by Microsoft's ADO.Net POCO Entity Generator. DAL: The EDMX (Entity Model) file with the context class. (t4 generated). References: Entities BLL: Business Logic Layer. Will implement repository pattern on this layer. References: Entities, DAL. This is where the objectcontext gets populated: var ctx=new DAL.MyDBEntities(); UI: The presentation layer: ASP.NET website. References: Entities, BLL + a connection string entry to entities in the config file (question #2). Now my three questions: Is my layer discintion approach correct? In my UI, I access BLL as follows: var customerRep = new BLL.CustomerRepository(); var Customer = customerRep.GetByID(myCustomerID); The problem is that I have to define the entities connection string in my UI's web.config/app.config otherwise I get a runtime exception. IS defining the entities connectionstring in UI spoils the layers' distinction? Or is it accesptible in a muli layered architecture. Should I take any additional steps to perform chage tracking, lazy loading, etc (by etc I mean the features that Entity Framework covers in a conventional, 1 project, non POCO code generation)? • How to make parts of a div element resize automatically?

  I'm trying to create a small html fragment (a div element) consisted of three parts: a label, textbox, and a button. Within that div element the label would be on the left (autosized), the button would be on the right (again, autosized) and the textbox should take up all remaining space within the parent div element. This is what I've tried (assuming I want my div to be 400 pixels wide): <div style="width:400px"> <div style="float: left">Label</div> <input style="width:100%"> <!-- doesn't work --> <button type='button' style='float: right'>Click</button> </div> The trouble is, my textbox does not get resized automatically. Add 'width=100%' to the textbox doesn't work. What would be the way to make it take up all remaining space between the label and the button? Ideally it should be done just by applying some styles, not by introducing new elements. (I guess the issue isn't related only to div element, but that just happens to be my work scenario.)

  Delphi 2011 will allow to compile applications that will run also on MacOS. Is it realistical to think that it will be possible to "migrate to cross platform" a win32 application? Will 3rd party component vendors make their library cross platform or this is practically not possible? I use the following 3rd party components: devexpress - UI devart - DAC Reportbuilder - UI Steema/TeeChart - UI I don't expect to have a wizard that will do the job for me, I just want to understand better the details.

  I watched John Resig's Best Practices in JavaScript Library Design presentation; one slide suggested "tweaking" the object constructor so it instantiates itself. function jQuery(str, con) { if (window === this) { return new jQuery(str, con); } // ... } With that, new jQuery("#foo") becomes jQuery("# foo"). I thought it was rather interesting, but I haven't written a constructor like that in my own code. A little later I read a post here on SO. (Sorry, I don't remember which or I'd supply a link. I will update the question if I can find it again.) One of the comments said it was bad practice to hide new from the programmer like that, but didn't go into details. My question is, it the above generally considered good, bad, or indifferent, and why?

• How to efficiently handle Where and OrderBy clauses

  My business layer passes all the required information to UI layer. From what I have read, in general, best practice is to send fetched data to UI layer, and to avoid passing queries like ObjectQuery. My problem with this approach is next: If I am to make a flexible business layer, then I should allow UI to sort the data anyway it requires. Fetching sorted data from database, and then resorting them in UI is kind of bad practice for me, so the only way is to somehow So what are my options? Is there a way to make it like this: public void OrderByMethod(params ...) { .... } so I can call it like this: OrderByMethod(MyEntity.Property1, MyEntity.Property2 descending....); Thanks, Goran

Now I've resurrected it with my current Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition and I seem to have problems connecting it to my default development server (I don't have IIS on my XP). It has been displaying properly up until vertical thumbnails entered the equation. Now, when the next row should start, the first item of the following row is to the left of the last vertical DIV (thumbnail), rather than flush to the left of the containing DIV. • Dynamically add items to Tkinter Canvas

  I'm attempting to learn Tkinter with the goal of being able to create a 'real-time' scope to plot data. As a test, I'm trying to draw a polygon on the canvas every time the 'draw' button is pressed. The triangle position is randomized. I have two problems: There is a triangle on the canvas as soon as the program starts, why and how do I fix this? It doesn't draw any triangles when I press the button, at least none that I can see. • Drawing graphics on top of a JButton

  I have a situation wherein I have a bunch of JButtons on a GridLayout. I need each of the JButtons to have: a background image (but retain the ability to keep the default button look if needed) custom graphics drawn on top by other classes I have no trouble with the background image, since I am using setIcon() but I am having problems drawing things on top of the background. At one point I was able to draw on top of the button, but after the button was clicked, the drawings disappeared. How can make the button keep this drawing state? Basically, I need a way for my JButtons to have public methods that would allow another class to draw anything on it such as: public void drawSomething() { Graphics g = this.getGraphics(); g.drawOval(3,2,2,2); repaint(); } or public Graphics getGraphics() { return this.getGraphics(); } then another class could do this: button.getGraphics().drawSomething(); The latter is more what I am looking for but the first is equally useful. Is there any way to go about this? Also, overriding the parent class method paintComponent() doesn't help since I need each button to have different graphics.

This is not working, and I think this is because i need an updatepanel for this in order to be able to update text after the first postback (the csv upload / import).   hi i am making an eclipse plugin which make a ui on right clicking a project in eclipse workspce . the ui contains text fields , package explorer for the current project and directory explorer for current project. i have successfully made a ui which appears on clicking a menu item on right clicking the project but it seems i can't make any jface or swt ui since they are not visible when we are using eclipse command hadlers .so in order to overcome it i made dialog pages but they have limited dialog like directorty dialog and file dialog and that too for entire window directory..... but i want package explorer and directory explorer for the project i just chose like it happens when u try making a new class in a project the browse buttons just show packages and directory struture w.r.t to current selection am i doin things wrong or is there a way out please suggest .....

  Hi Guys! I'm new in WPF and have a question. Here is an example that I'm using: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication2.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <StackPanel> <WrapPanel Orientation="Horizontal" > <Button Content="test1" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> <Button Content="test2" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> <Button Content="test3" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> <Button Content="test4" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> <Button Content="test5" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> </WrapPanel> </StackPanel> As you can see, my wrap panel has several buttons. Each button has the same margin and padding. The question is, is there a way of setting margin and padding for wrap panel, so each element inside the wrap panel may use it values? This make the code shorter and let me specify Margin and Padding only one time instead of setting it for each control in the panel. Thank you!
