  • Known Hosts ECDSA Host Key Multiple Domains on One IP

    Hello, world!, I have a VPS set up with multiple domain names pointing to it. Arbitrarily, I like to access it via SSH through the domain name I'm dealing with. So for example, if I'm doing something with example1.com, I'll log in with ssh [email protected], and if I'm working with example2.com, I'll log in with ssh [email protected]. They both point to the same user on the same machine. However, because SSH keeps track of the server's fingerprint, it tells me that there is an offending host key, and makes me confirm access. $ ssh [email protected] Warning: the ECDSA host key for 'example2.com' differs from the key for the IP address '123.123.123.123' Offending key for IP in /home/me/.ssh/known_hosts:33 Matching host key in /home/me/.ssh/known_hosts:38 Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? Is there a way to ignore this warning? Thanks!

As far as I know, that's all that's required to make a FreeBSD box forward packets between interfaces. Is there something else I could be forgetting ?

    Hi everyone, I need to configure my machine as to allow HTTP traffic to/from serverfault.com only. All other websites, services ports are not accessible. I came up with these iptables rules: #drop everything iptables -P INPUT DROP iptables -P OUTPUT DROP #Now, allow connection to website serverfault.com on port 80 iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d serverfault.com --dport 80 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -m conntrack --ctstate ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT #allow loopback iptables -I INPUT 1 -i lo -j ACCEPT It doesn't work quite well: After I drop everything, and move on to rule 3: iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d serverfault.com --dport 80 -j ACCEPT I get this error: iptables v1.4.4: host/network `serverfault.com' not found Try `iptables -h' or 'iptables --help' for more information. Do you think it is related to DNS? Should I allow it as well? Or should I just put IP addresses in the rules? Do you think what I'm trying to do could be achieved with simpler rules? How?   • Making one of the folders default in Apache

    Hello, The file & directory structure of my website is as follows: /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla .. /Library/WebServer/mysite/wiki .. /Library/WebServer/mysite/forum .. /Library/WebServer/mysite/index.php As you see, there are various applications each residing in separate folders. Now, in order to define this structure, I have made this entry in Apache http-vhosts.config file: ServerName mysite.com DocumentRoot "/Library/WebServer/mysite" ** And I already have the DirectoryIndex defined: DirectoryIndex index.html index.php, and so on. So far so good but I want this specific functionality: When someone visits mysite, he/she should automatically directed to: /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla (and therefore /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla/index.php) I don't want to achieve that functionality by putting a redirection code inside /Library/WebServer/mysite/index.php or /Library/WebServer/mysite/index.htm because that causes time delays (because of the redirection, of course) But in this case, the only proper way of achieving it seems to set DocumentRoot this way: DocumentRoot "/Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla" But when I set it that way, then the other folders (/wiki, /forum, etc.) are simply not served by Apache. To work around it, I put directives like: Alias /wiki /Library/WebServer/mysite/wiki .. Alias /forum /library/WebServer/mysite/forum and it did work actually the way I wanted. But... I still cannot use it that way because in this case I just couldn't manage to make the wiki use Short URLs (as described in link text) So, I have to set the DocumentRoot back to /Library/WebServer/mysite and shoud be able to assign /Library/WebServer/mysite/joomla as the "default directory" (my own terminology :) Can I do it in Apache? Is there any other way you might suggest? Thanks.

    I have a local directory that I would like to synchronize with an S3 bucket. I have two specific requirements: If local file is the same as the remote, do not re-transfer it to the bucket. If some files or directories exist in the bucket but do not exist on local, delete them. Basically the bucket should mirror the local copy and not vice-versa. I looked into s3cmd sync command, but unfortunately requirement 2 is not fulfilled. If files exists in the bucket but not on local copy, they will be copied to the local instead of being deleted.

    Hey guys, Soon I will have a brand new Geforce GTX 285 to replace my current 8800GT. Will it be possible to move my 8800GT to another PCIX slot, put the GTX 285 into the primary slot and use the nVidia software to make the 8800GT do physics? I have enough PCIX slots on my motherboard (4). The GTX 285 will take up 2, so the 8800GT should fit in the 3rd. If anyone knows if this is possible, I would be grateful to be educated!

    I have a bucket on Amazon S3. Lets call it "webstatic.mydomain.com". I have a DNS alias setup for that bucket webstatic.mydomain.com CNAME - web-static.mydomain.com.s3.amazonaws.com. This all works great, however for some rather complicated reasons I now need: webstatic.myOtherDomain.com to point to that same amazon bucket so: webstatic.myOtherDomain.com CNAME - web-static.mydomain.com.s3.amazonaws.com. Fails, as the bucket is not called the same as the referring DNS. Can anyone tell me how to have two different DNS entries pointing to the same amazon bucket?

  • One quarter of screen corrupted on MacBook Pro

    I have a problem with my MacBook Pro's screen - here's a video: http://yfrog.com/4wm63z For those who prefer words, if you divide the screen vertically into 4 columns, the second column is corrupted (flickering, and discoloured, usually with yellow). I took it to an Apple store and they said it could be the screen or the logic board, neither of which will be cheap to replace. However, occasionally this problem will completely go away. So before I part with my cash, or decide to turn this into an overpriced media center for my TV... could the problem be a loose cable, or something else cheaper to fix?

  • Trigger ZFS dedup one-off scan/rededup

    I have a ZFS filesystems which has been running for some time and I recently had the opportunity to upgrade it (finally!) to the latest ZSF version. Our data doesn't scream dedup but I firmly believe based on small tests that we could gain anywhere from 5-10% of our space back for free by utilizing it. I have enabled dedup on the filesystem and new files are slowly being dedupified but the majority (95%+) of our data already exists on the filesystem. Short of moving the data off-pool and then recopying it back, is there any way to trigger a dedup scan of existing data? It doesn't have to be asynchronous or live. (And FYI there isn't enough room on the pool to copy the entire filesystem to another and then just switch the mounts.)

  • Can't access one directory via HTTPS + public FQDN

    Hello - I have the strangest IIS error that I've ever seen in my life. I have an application/directory on an IIS server, that throws an error 500 when accessing ANY of the content in it, including HTML documents, when accessed via HTTPS AND the machines FQDN. When I access it with "localhost" it works fine. When I added a bogus entry for the NIC's IP in the hosts file, it worked fine. When I access it with the machines name and HTTP it works fine. Here's a chart (the machine's name is "lofn.titaniumcrowbar.com"): http - lofn.titaniumcrowbar.com: works https - lofn.titaniumcrowbar.com: broken https - localhost: works https - temp.titaniumcrowbar.com (put into hosts file): works I set up tracing, and I got some useless information: "The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request. (0x800703e3)" This would make sense, except this happens when pulling up static content. While the directory may be an "application", the content is all static in it. Any/all suggestions, no matter how strange, are VERY appreciated. Thanks! J.Ja

  • How can one make vim change terminal colors?

    I am using command line vim running from an xterm (which runs sh). I have color in vim according to a color scheme I like. The problem is, as usual with 256-color terminals and truecolor color schemes, colors are wrong. Now, I know I can do a gazillion things to fix this, including installing gvim, but I like my terminal. In fact, using xrdb [-merge] .Xresource file, I now actually have xterm override the color values, and the theme now looks perfect. Since, I may be switching to another theme, I need some workflow to have vim actually do what xrdb does - to reset terminal color pallette. Because right now I have to reset color values with xrdb ... first, then launch another xterm to actually use these values, then launch vim from that newly opened xterm to have the exact colors. The way I understood it is that vim color scheme, just as any other terminal application, uses colors by referencing their ids, and X resources set the values themselves. I think I saw somewhere on Internet, that terminal control character sequences can reset actual color values, in fact, I am sure they can - I managed to set my terminal background color at runtime. How would I make vim execute these sequences to match values for the color scheme? And is there any reference to these control sequences, as part of any standard?

    Okay, I need help. I'm usually pretty good at SQL queries but this one baffles me. By the way, this is not a homework assignment, it's a real situation in an Access database and I've written the requirements below myself. Here is my table layout. It's in Access 2007 if that matters; I'm writing the query using SQL. Id (primary key) PersonID (foreign key) EventDate NumberOfCredits SuperCredits (boolean) There are events that people go to. They can earn normal credits, or super credits, or both at one event. The SuperCredits column is true if the row represents a number of super credits earned at the event, or false if it represents normal credits. So for example, if there is an event which person 174 attends, and they earn 3 normal credits and 1 super credit at the event, the following two rows would be added to the table: ID PersonID EventDate NumberOfCredits SuperCredits 1 174 1/1/2010 3 false 2 174 1/1/2010 1 true It is also possible that the person could have done two separate things at the event, so there might be more than two columns for one event, and it might look like this: ID PersonID EventDate NumberOfCredits SuperCredits 1 174 1/1/2010 1 false 2 174 1/1/2010 2 false 3 174 1/1/2010 1 true Now we want to print out a report. Here will be the columns of the report: PersonID LastEventDate NumberOfNormalCredits NumberOfSuperCredits The report will have one row per person. The row will show the latest event that the person attended, and the normal and super credits that the person earned at that event. What I am asking of you is to write, or help me write, the SQL query to SELECT the data and GROUP BY and SUM() and whatnot. Or, let me know if this is for some reason not possible, and how to organize my data to make it possible. This is extremely confusing and I understand if you do not take the time to puzzle through it. I've tried to simplify it as much as possible, but definitely ask any questions if you give it a shot and need clarification.   • pure-ftpd: one readonly/non-deletable file in home directory

    Is there a way to have a file in the user's FTP home directory without the ability to modify/remove it from that directory over FTP? So the user has write permissions on his own home folder, thus the ability to remove files. An exception should be made for a single file, which has the same filename and contents for each account. The solution I'm thinking of right now to run a periodic script to check the presence of that file, and if not, put it back. But I wonder whether there's a better solution than this.
