This person simply asked me if the sapply function in R was making concurrent calls to the function you want to apply to the list, or if the computation is done sequantially.   I attempted to download the php_mongo.dll from this link (http://github.com/mongodb/mongo-php-driver/downloads) and added the extension to php. However it doesn't work at all. My PHP version is: 5.2.x Windows: Windows 7 64 bit. I have also try to use pecl install mongo but it returned some error like: This DSP mongo.dsp doesn't not exist. Could somebody help?

• R: How to write out a data.frame so that I can paste it into SO for others to read?

  I have a large data.frame displaying some weird properties when plotted. I'd like to ask a question about it on Stackoverflow, to do that I'd like to write the data.frame out in a form that I can paste it into SO and somebody else can easily run it and have it back into a data.frame object again. Is there an easy way to accomplish this? Also, if it is really long, should I use paste bin instead of directly paste it here?

  Hi , I have a modal that will be shown and then I have an export button which should bring up the save dialog, if I have use h:commandButton, the validation checks are bypassed , but works well. If I use a4j:commandButton, validations are done perfectly but I dont see the save file dialog. Can somebody help me. thanks

• Python new-style classes and __subclasses__ function

  Can somebody explain to me why this works (in Python 2.5) : class Foo(object): pass class Bar(Foo): pass print(Foo.__subclasses__()) but this doesn't : class Foo(): pass class Bar(Foo): pass print(Foo.__subclasses__()) The latter returns "AttributeError: class Foo has no attribute '__subclasses__'" but i'm not sure why. I know this is related to old-style vs. new-style classes but i'm not clear on why that would make this functionality unavailable.

  I have written this function in Scala to calculate the fibonacci number given a particular index n: def fibonacci(n: Long): Long = { if(n <= 1) n else fibonacci(n - 1) + fibonacci(n - 2) } However it is not efficient when calculating with large indexes. Therefore I need to implement a function using a tuple and this function should return two consecutive values as the result. Can somebody give me any hints about this? I have never used Scala before. She's working at a company, using Windows 7 and can't set a password because if she's not there her boss might want to use some of her data, but she has suspicions that there is a colleague who spies on her files, because there is no password set for her computer.   For some reason this function confused me: def protocol(port): return port == "443" and "https://" or "http://" Can somebody explain the order of what's happening behind the scenes to make this work the way it does. I understood it as this until I tried it: Either A) def protocol(port): if port == "443": if bool("https://"): return True elif bool("http://"): return True return False Or B) def protocol(port): if port == "443": return True + "https://" else: return True + "http://" Is this some sort of special case in Python, or am I completely misunderstanding how statements work?

• MySQL: Digits (1.75) to Friendly Time (1 hour and 45 minutes)

  In my MySQL database, I have a float field named "HoursSpent" with values like "0.25", "1.75", "2.5", etc. Is there a way that I can have my SELECT statement format those values in a friendly format like this?: 0.25 = 15 minutes 1.75 = 1 hour and 45 minutes 2.5 = 2 hours and 30 minutes The "HoursSpent" field is supposed to only have values in 0.25 increments, but if somebody were to put something random like 0.16, it would be nice if the SELECT statement handled that by rounding it up to the nearest 0.25 (so in this case 0.16 would become 0.25, or 15 minutes).
