  • Microsoft Visual Studio Team Explorer 2010 codename “Eaglestone”

    - by HosamKamel
Microsoft has released the beta release of Microsoft Visual Studio Team Explorer 2010 codename “Eaglestone”, the Eclipse plugin and cross-platform command line assets that were acquired from Teamprise back in November. You can download the bits here, and participate in the associated Microsoft Connect community here. Changes done in this release : All of the architectural changes in TFS 2010 has been reacted, which primarily shows up in our support for Team Project Collections but it also means that the Eclipse plug-in supports all the configurations for project portal and reporting services that are possible (including not having any configured at all) Added the enhanced work item linking and hierarchy capabilities.  You can now define typed links, query for work items based on links, and work with work item hierarchies. Added support for the new WF-based team build Have reacted to a lot of underlying changes in the source control version model with respect to how branching, merging, and renames happen. History now follows branches and merges. Branches are proper first class citizens in the source control explorer. You can check a detailed post written  by bharry here Microsoft Visual Studio Team Explorer 2010 codename “Eaglestone”

  • Can't use Visual Studio 2008 Designer with MVVMLight V3 SP1

    - by mcauthorn
I wish I knew what I did to cause this, but I cannot use the Visual Studio 2008 Designer at all with with MVVMLight templates. I receive a "Could not create an instance of type 'ViewModelLocator'. in any of my xaml pages. The application builds and runs fine but only the designer is broken. In the App.xaml is <Application x:Class="ExcelReportGenerator.App" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" xmlns:vm="clr-namespace:ExcelReportGenerator.ViewModel" xmlns:res="clr-namespace:ExcelReportGenerator.Resources" Startup="Application_Startup" mc:Ignorable="d"> <Application.Resources> <!--Global View Model Locator--> <vm:ViewModelLocator x:Key="Locator" d:IsDataSource="True" /> </Application.Resources> I even receive the error when I create a brand new MVVMLight application. The interesting thing is if I use an express version of VS2010 I can view, edit and work in designer just fine. As much as I would love to go to VS2010, I can't right now convince IT to make that move.

  • Publishing From Visual Studio Express

    - by user315723
I am an amateur programmer. When I publish an app from Visual Studio Express, I have no option to make the package install for "All users of this computer". Is this possible to do from Visual Studio Express? If so then where is the option? If not, do I need to use the full version of VS or do I need some other package authoring software?

  • How to change the title bar text of Visual Studio

    - by ProfK
We work on several different branches of the same code, and when working on two branches at once, it can become confusing and time wasting. Presently, the VS title bar has the text <solution-name> - Visual Studio. Is it possible for me to write an extension that will make that text <solution-name>: <branch-name> - <Visual Studio>?

I had Visual Studio 2010 beta 1 installed, and I removed. Now, when I try to crate a project in Visual Studio 2008. I get the error "MSBUildToolsPath is not specified for the ToolsVersion "4.0" defined at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSBuild\TOolsVersions\4.0", or the value specified evaluates to the empty string". How do I change the ToolsVersion to "3.5", so it works?

  • Can a .csv file be used as a data source in Visual Studio 2008 (C#)?

    - by Kevin
I'm pretty new to C# and Visual Studio. I'm writing a small program that will read a .csv file and then write the records read to a MS SQL database table. I can manually parse the .csv file, but I was wondering if it is possible to somehow "describe" the .csv file to Visual Studio so that I can use it as a data source? I should mention that the first two lines in the .csv file contain header information and the following lines are the actual comma-delimited data.

  • Visual Studio 2010 .NET framework 3.5 unavailable

    - by Haxed
Hey people, I have installed VS 2010 Professional, and despite my tremendous urge to work on it since it is pleasing to the eye, it seems not to support .NET framework 3.5/3.0. Therefore, I have switched to VS 2008 rather relunctantly. Does anyone know, to add .NET framework 3.0/3.5 to the top right Combo Box within the make new project ? (Note : In the top right Combo Box within the make new project, I have only .NET framework 4.0 available) Many Thanks..............................

  • Visual Studio keeps running the old build

    - by Mike Pike
Hello. I have a simple Silverlight program that displays a bunch of images. I modified it do display more images, but it when I hit "run without debugging" is keeps running the old build with fewer images. When I copy the code into a new project and run it, it works fine for the first time, but then each subsequent change is not displayed. What could be the problem? I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express.

  • How do I unhide Debug -> Attach to Process in Visual Studio 2008?

    - by Rising Star
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Professional at work. Recently, I got a new workstation. Someone else installed all the software for me. For some reason, I do not see the option "Attach to Process" on the debug menu. I looked in the options, but I don't see an option that seems like it should hide it. How do I make the option "Attach to Process" appear on the debug menu?

  • How to connect to Windows Server 2008 Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication Required

    - by Lobo
I have an Ubuntu 11.10 and I want to connect via remote desktop to a Windows Server 2008 R2. In the properties of remote desktop connection to Windows Server 2008, is set to "safer". Specifically, the selected option is "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication." In my Ubuntu, I used Remmina to connect to Windows Server 2008. Remmina can not connect to a Windows Server 2008 with the option "Network Level Authentication" (shown in the previous paragraph). The error message I Remmina returns is as follows: "Disable the connection to the server RPD: IPWINDOWSSERVER2008" How or what program I can connect by remote desktop to a Windows Server 2008 you have selected the option "Network Level Authentication"? Thanks for the help, Greetings! PD: Excuse for my English.
