  • How do you use stereotype annotations in Spring 2.5.x?

    When moving to Spring 2.5.x I found that it adds more stereotype annotations (on top of @Repository from 2.0): @Component, @Service and @Controller. How do you use them? Do you rely on implicit Spring support or you define custom stereotype specific functions/aspects/features? Or is it predominately for marking beans (compile time, conceptual, etc.)?

  • JFreeChart Legend Display

    In my JFreeChart timeseries plots I find the legends lines to thin to see the colour accurately. Another post [ jfreechart - change sample of colors in legend ] suggested overriding a renderer method as follows: renderer = new XYLineAndShapeRenderer() { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public Shape lookupLegendShape(int series) { return new Rectangle(15, 15); } }; this approach works fine until you do what I did renderer.setSeriesShapesVisible(i, false); Once I did that the legend reverts back to a line. Is there any way round this?

  • Beyond the @Produces annotation, how does Jersey (JAX-RS) know to treat a POJO as a specific mime ty

    I see a lot of examples for Jersey that look something like this: public class ItemResource { @GET @Path("/items") @Produces({"text/xml", "application/json"}) public List<Item> getItems() { List<Item> items = new ArrayList<Item>(); Item item = new Item(); item.setItemName("My Item Name!"); items.add(item); return items; } } But then I have trouble dissecting Item, and how Jersey knows how to translate an Item to either XML or JSON. I've seen very basic examples that just return a String of constructed HTML or XML, which makes more sense to me, but I'm missing the next step. I looked at the samples, and one of them stood out (the json-from-jaxb sample), since the object was marked with these types of annotations: @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD) @XmlType(name = "", propOrder = { "flight" }) @XmlRootElement(name = "flights") I'm looking for tutorials that cover this "translation" step-by-step, or an explanation here of how to translate a POJO to output as a specific mime type.     I am trying to use Intellij's file templates (not live templates) to help mitigate how much boilerplate code I use when making Services, daos, and their interfaces. I am able to use all the system defined variables just fine, such as ${PACKAGE_NAME} What I want though, is to be able to use my own variable names, like ${MY_USER_INPUT} however, when i do this like above, I get an error The documentation says : It is also possible to specify arbitrary number of custom variables in format ${<VARIABLE_NAME>}. and then Intellij is supposed to prompt the user for the value. However, this just plain doesn't work for me. What am I missing?

  • Remove Duplicates from List of HashMap Entries

    I have a List<HashMap<String,Object>> which represents a database where each list record is a database row. I have 10 columns in my database. There are several rows where the values of 2 particular columns are equals. I need to remove the duplicates from the list after the list is updated with all the rows from database. What is the efficient way? FYI - I am not able to do distinct while querying the database, because the GroupName is added at a later stage to the Map after the database is loaded. And since Id column is not primary key, once you add GroupName to the Map. You will have duplicates based on Id + GroupName combination! Hope my question makes sense. Let me know if we need more clarification.

    I have an application using Acegi (earlier version of Spring Security) and LDAP for logins. Now, a specific scenario requires me to discover user's LDAP groups at arbitrary time (not at login time). Is it possible to use already set up Acegi to handle this situation? I'm thinking of using the configured LdapAuthProvider (or LdapAuthPopulator or whatever's appropriate) to get all the groups associated with a given username. Is this possible? If yes, please, please, give some hints how it should be done...

  • Deploying spring message driven pojo on weblogic 8.1

    Hello, I am trying to deploy a spring message message driven POJO on weblogic 8.1. It is a simple POJO, and it works fine being run outside of an application server, but the messages do not seem to be picked up at all. I have created empty home and remote interfaces, as well as a container bean class that contains an instance of the pojo which it gets from the application context. I then added this container bean class to the ejb-jar.xml as a . I have not been able to get the messages pick up. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong? Could anyone point me to a tutorial on how to deploy a MDP? Thanks.

  • Intersecting boundaries with lucene

    I'm using Lucene, and I'm trying to find a way to index and retrieve documents that have a ranged property. For example I have: Document 1: Price:[30 TO 50] Document 2: Price:[45 TO 60] Document 3: Price:[60 TO 70] And I would like to search for all the documents whose ranges intersect a specific interval, in the above example, if I search for Price in [55 TO 65] I should get Document 2 and Document 3 as results. I don't think NumericRangeQueries alone would do the trick, I need to work on the index with something similar to R-trees, but are they implemented in Lucene? Also, I suppose that what I need should be a subclass of MultiTermQuery, because the query Price in [55 TO 65] has two boundaries, but I don't see anything suitable among MultiTermQuery's subclasses. Any help is appreciated, thanks, Silvio P.S. I'm using Lucene 2.9.0, but I can update to the latest release if needed.

  • Playing around with Eclipse features - Project files are now hidden?

    I don't even remember how, but somehow I managed to make all of my project's source files hidden in Eclipse's Package and Project Explorer panels. Go figure. 'Show Filtered Children (alt+click)' temporarily reveals the files, and only in Package Explorer can I double-click to reopen them from this view. They go back into hiding after I select another item, though. Plus, now I'm getting other annoyances, such as all of the folded non-hidden trees altogether expanding when I click on any item, and the entire file folder tree of my project now being shown in these panels (including my .svn subversion folders... which shouldn't be any of Eclipse's business, presently). Long story short, my Package/Project Explorers' just blew up on me, and I want to know how to fix this. Thanks in advance. P.S. What's a good guide I can use to learn my way around this silly contraption, anyway?

  • Debugging JSR 168 Portlet with spring, eclipse & pluto.

    I am trying to set up a development environment to test Spring Portlet MVC for development of JSR 168 conforming portlets. I have the latest STS installed, which included Spring 2.5 and Eclipse (Catalina). This has been my environment to develop with Spring MVC, and that works fine using Apache as a local server for debugging. I found some instructions on the Pluto portal site on using Pluto as a remote debugging host for portlets. I have implemented those instructions. I am sending Eclipse into debug mode by right clicking on one of the JSPs and going into "debug as". My problem is that when I log into Pluto, it is not sending me into debug mode. I am seeing the default Pluto page as opposed to my portlet. My portlet has not been installed onto Pluto, and the instructions do not seem to require the portlet to be installed.   • J2ME cache issue

    I have to write a J2ME app to retrieve images from server and display in mobile phone. I have seen and test that Snaptu have a mechanism to cache image, event with 100 images (both normal size and zoom size). I wonder how they can do that? I though that those guys use rms to save image stream to data. But when i check in working folder of simulater( I use Windows XP and Sun Wireless Toolkit 3.0, the Emulator device i use to run my program is CLDC Device 1 - my working folder is C:\Document And Settings\Administrator\javame-sdk\3.0\work\6\appdb), i see some .db file. When i delete these files, i still can view cache image in my emulator???? I also thought that those guys use heap memory to save image. But it is not correct because when i set limit device memory is 2MB (like some mobile phones), and i load and view 100 images in zoom size, it didn't make OutOfMemory Error? It so weird. Any one can help me? Thanks

The application logs show that on login, we can authenticate the user and get their roles via LDAP, but the login fails because the User Details cannot be found in the application's database.   • Setting up ehcache replication - what multicast settings do I need?

    I am trying to set up ehcache replication as documented here: http://ehcache.sourceforge.net/EhcacheUserGuide.html#id.s22.2 This is on a Windows machine but will ultimately run on Solaris in production. The instructions say to set up a provider as follows: <cacheManagerPeerProviderFactory class="net.sf.ehcache.distribution.RMICacheManagerPeerProviderFactory" properties="peerDiscovery=automatic, multicastGroupAddress=230.0.0.1, multicastGroupPort=4446, timeToLive=32"/> And a listener like this: <cacheManagerPeerListenerFactory class="net.sf.ehcache.distribution.RMICacheManagerPeerListenerFactory" properties="hostName=localhost, port=40001, socketTimeoutMillis=2000"/> My questions are: Are the multicast IP address and port arbitrary (I know the address has to live within a specific range but do they have to be specific numbers)? Do they need to be set up in some way by our system administrator (I am on an office network)? I want to test it locally so am running two separate tomcat instances with the above config. What do I need to change in each one? I know both the listeners can't listen on the same port - but what about the provider? Also, are the listener ports arbitrary too? I've tried setting it up as above but in my testing the caches don't appear to be replicated - the value added in one tomcat's cache is not present in the other cache. Is there anything I can do to debug this situation (other than packet sniffing)? Thanks in advance for any help, been tearing my hair out over this one!

    Can someone tell me where I can find the executeable "java_swt"? I see multiple sites that say it is embedded in eclipse, and other sites say it is shipped with Mac swt drops. I have the zip file for a mac called "swt-3.5M6-carbon-macosx.zip" and i have the eclipse IDE installed on my test mac machine and windows machine. But i cannot find this executeable which i need to run an swt app smoothly on mac os x. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
