  • HTML form to JSON without modern libraries

    - by Rok
Does anyone know of a simple javascript library that serializes a form DOM object to JSON? I know jQuery has the serialize method but since I am writing an app for IE mobile, I can't use any of the new fancy libraries, must be oldschool simple javascript, as light as possible. Cheers

  • Lock innoDB table temporarily

    - by Industrial
Hi everyone, I make bigger inserts consisting of a couple of thousand rows in my current web app and I would like to make sure that no one can do anything but read the table, until the inserts have been done. What is the best way to do this while keeping the read availability open for normal, non-admin users? Thanks!

I've been trying to take apart this app which creates a search tree based on keywords, but I'm afraid its a bit too complex for me. Would anyone mind explaining it? The format is off, so here's a pastebin (is pastie.org down?) version of it. Any help is appreciated.

  • Which browsers support html5 offline storage?

    - by Marcin
Essentially, I wanted to run a piece of demo code from W3c Offline Webapps page. It looks like that: var db = window.openDatabase("notes", "", "The Example Notes App!", 1048576); Firefox 3.5, IE8 and Chrome do not seem to get it. Is there anybody out there that actually wrote support for that? Or is this wishful thinking about 'the standard of the future'?

  • How to generate an Intent that jumps into a specific short message conversation?

    - by Janusz
I would like to create an Intent that opens the messages application in a specific conversation. If a short message notification is clicked Logcat reveals the following: INFO/ActivityManager(31909): Starting activity: Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW dat=content://mms-sms/conversations/3 flg=0x34000000 cmp=com.android.mms/.ui.ConversationList bnds=[0,586][600,682] } This brought me a little bit further using content://mms-sms/conversations/3 as the data starts up the messages app in the correct conversation. I now only need to find out which conversation a message belongs to.

  • Data Structure Used For SMS Messages In Android

    - by Greenhouse Gases
Does anybody know what data structures are used to the store messages in an SMS client app, and whether there is an existing API for this. I was perhaps looking at implementing a link list for the purpose but if the work has already been done in an API then perhaps it would be unnecessary to commit time to the task that could be spent programming other parts. Many thanks

  • 1) PasswordResets emails user when requesting password reset

    - by Surge Pedroza
I've been trying to add a password reset for users that forget their password. The users clicks on forgot password? on sign up page. Then the user types their email and clicks reset password, which creates a token and sends an email with a link to reset their password. For the most part, it was working well, and then it suddenly stopped working. When a user clicks password reset, it brings up the error message: Password cant be blank, password is too short(6 min) Ran into this error in video 275 How I Test. on 11:20 Failure/Error: click_button "Reset Password" ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid: Validation failed: Password can't be blank, Password is too short (minimum is 6 characters), Password confirmation can't be blank # ./app/models/user.rb:30:in send_password_reset' # ./app/controllers/password_resets_controller.rb:7:increate' # (eval):2:in click_button' # ./spec/requests/password_resets_spec.rb:9:inblock (2 levels) in ' Finished in 13.66 seconds 95 examples, 1 failure This is some of the code being used. user.rb # == Schema Information # # Table name: users # # id :integer not null, primary key # name :string(255) # email :string(255) # created_at :datetime not null # updated_at :datetime not null # class User < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :name, :email, :password, :password_confirmation has_secure_password before_save { |user| user.email = email.downcase } before_save :create_remember_token validates :name, presence: true, length: { maximum: 50 } VALID_EMAIL_REGEX = /\A[\w+\-.]+@[a-z\d\-.]+\.[a-z]+\z/i validates :email, presence: true, format: { with: VALID_EMAIL_REGEX }, uniqueness: { case_sensitive: false } validates :password, presence: true, length: { minimum: 6 } validates :password_confirmation, presence: true def send_password_reset generate_token(:password_reset_token) self.password_reset_sent_at = Time.zone.now save! • Where can I write a temp file from ASP.NET?

    - by ProfK
I have an 'access denied' problem on an ASP.NET web application, where the user uploads an Excel file and I try and write it to a folder. I don't have access to the host except FTP, so I can't set permissions. I thought that ASP.NET would be able to write to a folder that is under the web app root, but it isn't so. Is there anywhere I can write the file to that doesn't require me to set permissions?

  • Debugging on the production server in Rails

    - by ming yeow
how do you effectively debug on live server in rails, whether on a beta/production server? I tried modifying the file directly on the server, and restarting the app, but the changes does not seem to take effect, or takes a long time to (caching?) I also tried to do "script/server production" locally, but that is very slow The other option is to code and deploy, but that is very inefficient. Anyone has any insights as to how they do this efficiently?

  • SDWebImage : setImageWithURL fails when used to set image of a UITableViewCell

    - by Chim
    When call setImageWithURL, it fails with following, [UIImageView setImageWithURL:placeholderImage:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x149a20 2011-12-14 18:11:38.060 [781:707] Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[UIImageView setImageWithURL:placeholderImage:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x149a20' I can confirm I have included SDWebImage project and required headers correctly as I can use the SDWebImageManager successfully. Following is the code where I called the UIImageView category method setImageWithURL NSURL* url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"www.abc.com/abc.png"]; [cell.imageView setImageWithURL:url placeholderImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"abc.png"]];

  • Extract Address Information from a Web Page

    - by Brian Boatright
I need to take a web page and extract the address information from the page. Some are easier than others. I'm looking for a firefox plugin, windows app, or VB.NET code that will help me get this done. Ideally I would like to have a web page on our admin (ASP.NET/VB.NET) where you enter a URL and it scraps the page and returns a Dataset that I can put in a Grid.

  • [C++] Is it possible to roll a significantly faster version of sqrt

    - by John
In an app I'm profiling, I found that in some scenarios this functions are able to take over 10% of total execution time. I've seen discussion over the years of faster sqrt implementations using sneaky floating-point trickery, but I don't know if such things are outdated on modern CPUs. MSVC++ 2008 compiler is being used, for reference... though I'd assume sqrt is not going to add much overhead though.

  • How do I call an upside down jQuery.slideDown()?

    - by Mark Rogers
In the web app I'm working on I want to do a little slide up notification, like on twitter or your desktop. jQuery's .slideDown does exactly what I want, but it's upside down. The .slideUp doesn't execute an upside down version of slideDown. Instead it hides stuff, like after your cleaning up an old message you've displayed with slideDown. So what's the simplest code to do an upside down slideDown() in jQuery?
