  • My browsers won't use my full screen resolution, IE different

    My screen resolution is actually 3200x1800, but when I'm in a browser it acts like I have a smaller resolution. How do I get my browsers to use my full resolution? On Chrome it's using 1280x720, and on IE it's using 1600x900. According to whatismyscreenresolution.com, which is showing different values for different browsers. I took a screenshot of them and verified that my resolution is 3200x1800 as that is the pixels in the bitmap. I'm on a laptop with no monitor plugged in. My zoom in both browsers is at 100%. I've tried zooming out below 100% but then the text is unreadable and pixellated. I've tried restarting. Windows 8.1. I've tried the chrome extension OptiZoom and it does nothing. document.body.clientWidth gives 1247, and I want it to give 3200.

  • Windows update deleting Sticky Notes (StikyNot.exe)?

    Got a win7 computer for xmas and like the Sticky Notes But twice now, after running an automatic update, the sticky notes disappeared Managed to navigate system restore and recover it, but what a pain in the butt. The update seems to be deleting the exe, but I haven't been able to find any info on why. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas how to prevent it happening again? Cheers

  • Gmail as icon on Dock in os x

    On Windows, I can add Gmail as a faux application to the Taskbar, by using something like "add to task bar" in the Wrench-Tools menu. This promotes it to appear as a native application in the task bar. I notice that the same menu item isn't there for Chrome on Mac - at least, not in the same place. I'm looking for a "Add to Dock" function. Can this be done on the OS X version of Chrome? If so, how? I'm sick of having my email client hanging out with the other browser tabs.

    i'm doing some research on how browsers support TLS-SRP (RFC5054). I know that TLS-SRP is implemented in GnuTLS, OpenSSL as of release 1.0.1, Apache mod_gnutls, cURL, TLS Lite and SecureBlackbox. I don't find any fresh source of information, only this from 2011: http://sim.ivi.co/2011/07/compare-tls-cipher-suites-for-web.html I'm testing them manually at the moment, but as far as i know nobody seems to support it. My interest is then in understanding if browsers are planning to support these ciphersuites in the future, apart from the current state.   • Why is Google Home page changing spontaneously

    Periodically, my Google Chrome home page (which I have originally set myself) changes spontaneously on opening the browser to display, instead, the page showing the rectangular small images of webpages I have visited before. In addition the bookmarks bar and my homepage icon has disappeared. I am also not directed to any other website location as might occur if a virus or malware were involved. I can correct all of these changes back to my original settings the way I prefer (and nothing prevents my resetting it) and can continue to browse with no difficulty but this changed situation has happened several times in the past month. I had assumed that this was an idiosyncrasy of how Chrome (mis)behaves but worry whether virus or malware might be involved. I have monitoring by antiviral and antimalware software and run periodic complete scans and occasionally these find Trojans and other malware which are removed but this browser behavior seems to recur I would like to prevent the surprises Thank you.

    Everytime I plug my flash drive on school. It gets infected by this regsvr.exe and many others. Even if my fd is already vaccinated by panda antivirus it still gets infected even if I'm not accessing it via the computer. I just plug it in without doing anything and it still gets infected. Is it possible to avoid it when plugging your fd to an infected computer?

  • f12 and ctrl + f5 not working correctly

    When I came back to my work computer after being away for a week I found out when I try to clear the cache and refresh the page via ctrl + f5 (or just f5) I get the prompt "Type the Internet address of a document, and Internet Explorer will open it for you" with a drop down list in IE. When I try f5 in Chrome and FF it opens the "Open file" dialog box. When I try to f12 for Dev tools in IE, Chrome & FF it opens up the print dialog box. Why is this happening and what can I do to revert it back to the way it was?

    I have a bunch of touchscreen machines that I want to display a webpage on and have users interact with the webpage via the touchscreen. Right now, this is done with a full-blown OS with a browser set to run at startup. I think maybe the ideal solution is to use a Linux-based OS that boots up, starts X, then starts a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, or whatever) in full screen mode. What kind of options do I have? I really want to avoid using a full-blown OS like I do now. It looks unprofessional and takes a while to boot up. I was thinking maybe Chrome OS or something, but I wouldn't know how to set it up for my purposes, since it's still designed to be used as a desktop OS instead of a kiosk-type OS.

    I have Chrome 37 installed as my main browser. Recently I needed to test a design in a new, Chromium based Opera version 21.0.1432.67. This later one hijacked my global shortcuts somehow, so if I press Ctrl+Shift+N to start a new session for testing, even if Chrome is running, and it is the active window, the shortcut starts a new Opera tab - even if the program is not running. It is highly annoying. Even if I uninstall Opera, I'm unable to use the aforementioned shortcut, because it will not work at all. Any hints on how to restore the original shortcut?

  • Can't delete keyboard shortcut set for a .ink file

    So, I installed the Chrome App Launcher on my PC (now on Win8.1) a few weeks ago, and, as I use it very often, I wanted to assign a keyboard shortcut for it. So, I right-clicked the icon on my desktop, and I assigned Ctrl+Alt+<. The problem is... I moved the shortcut to my taskbar, and suddenly noticed that when I wanted to write the "\" (on a Belgian keyboard), it launched the Chrome App Launcher, which is very annoying. I wanted to change it back, but I can't... I deleted the taskbar shortcut, but the keyboard shortcut still launches the App Launcher. I also tried creating a new shortcut with the same association, hoping that it would crush the existing one, but it didn't work. I searched on Google for similar issues, and I couldn't find any... x~x So... How can I delete this shortcut association..?

    I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 on an old laptop with only 756 MB of RAM, Pentium M 1.6 processor. I'm using Google Chrome 11.0 (dev channel) for web browsing, and it appears to be using up most of my memory and processor time. Does anyone know of a better browser than Chrome on Ubuntu, for an older computer like mine? I'm new to Ubuntu, so there may also be tweaks I can make to my existing system to have it perform better.     I know that there this great big button that I can click for full screen on the bottom left of the screen. What I'm doing though is launching the direct movie/tv episode in chrome from XBMC using XBMCflicks. It's like pasting the video html address in the address bar and going directly to the video feed. Here's my dilemma, I want a fully working, no need for a keyboard/mouse HTPC, which means I don't want to have to click on the 'full screen' button. Is there a way to run chrome and silverlight automatically in full screen mode when launched?
