  • Concept of GUI's - Centralized or decentralized

    Hello all, Since a few months I've been learning Erlang, and now it was time to do some basic GUI. After some quick research I saw there was an interesting library called 'wxi' (based on Fudgets of Haskell) which uses a different approach on GUI's. No central loop, every widget processes it's own events and handles it's own data. What do you guys think about this?   • Twitter authentication without authorization

    I wish to get the tweeter usename of a visitor to my site. I do not wish to post statuses or access any other information. I'd be happy to use OAuth, possibly with a 'Sign in with Twitter' button, but this then takes the user to a page which requests authorization for the application, that I wish to avoid. Is there a way to get the username without authorization? Thanks, Daniel

  • Windows repair console, imposible?

    Hi guys, I found an old Windows XP SP2 in my -trash- cd can and tryed it on a 30 gb FAT32 partition. Installation went fine till the copying operation was completed and XP asked for reboot. After that either it starts over again or throws invalid disk. Starting over is an infinite loop the only way I see is to choose the "Repair console" but i'm not used to a dos box. Can anyone help me through this harmful instalation? Cheers, Daniel

There is a numerical field on the form and I would like to sort the results by this number (highest first). How would I go about doing this in jQuery?   • Stuck removing ffmpeg from system due to package problems

    I'd be very grateful to get a bit of support on the following situation: Using Ubuntu 12.04, and I used the PPA of Jon Severinson for ffmpeg. I had a problem playing movies with mplayer, so I decided to remove the PPA and try to use libav only after I read this article about libav vs ffmpeg. I first removed the PPA from the list, then apt-get update, etc. But I couldn't remove ffmpeg due to dependency-errors and got stuck in what seemed some kind of loop. Then I found a suggestion here. I followed the steps, and ended up force-removing libavcodec-extra-53. Because, apparently that was "what got stuff moving again". At the moment I can't. Now Ubuntu is reporting a broken package (BrokenCount 0).   • ReadyNAS Duo - FTP home network connectivity issue

    I have a ReadyNas Duo that I recently purchased and configured on my local home network. I'm an AT&T DSL subscriber using their default 2701HG-B Gateway (2Wire) wireless router. Basically, I have managed to configure my ReadyNAS, and can access HTTP shares and WINS shares just fine, but cannot get access to it via FTP. I've enabled it in the 'Standard File Protocols' section in the UI, and made a share have read/write default access via FTP. My settings: Port: 21 Authentication mode: User Allow upload resumes: Yes Passive ports: 1024-65535 Masquerade as: (empty, but I've tried the internal IP address). I've even poked around at my router, which has a firewall, and even tried to poke a hole for the 'FTP Server'app for the ReadyNAS. Doesn't seem like I should need to do this, or should. Any ideas what else to check? Thanks! -Daniel

  • Mac OS X Terminal get in Macintosh HD? For using Git and Github

    I wanted to get started with using Git and Github especially for installing Web software to my htdocs directory. htdocs is the folder in which you put all your websites that then run by using MAMP -- Apache server, PHP, MySQL and stuff. This not the real problem though, the problem is I am in the terminal and see this: imac-van-jeroen-*******-2:~ JeroensiMac$ And using cd ~ or cd .. just results back in the line above, which is usual. The problem is that all my applications and everything really is not on my user but in the Macintosh HD. Macintosh HD/applications, or Macintosh HD/applications/MAMP/htdocs/ I want to be in the Terminal and go to my Macintosh HD (is this referred to as being superuser?). I want to know if this is just my fault for installing everything on my Macintosh HD instead of Macintosh HD/users/JeroensiMac/~. Also I would like to know if its possible at all, and I am just missing something. And If I am not doing anything wrong is it safe to use Git(Github) with directories in my Macintosh HD?

  • No GUI after upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10 (boots to command line)

    I have just upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10 (network upgrade using the update manager, from 9.04 which had different graphics related problems) and when I try to boot into it all I get a small Ubuntu logo, flickering text and then the tty1 command line with a logon prompt. startx gives following error: Fatal server error: no screens found I traced down a tutorial that said I needed the latest graphics drivers (Gigabyte ATI Radeon 4650 HD installed with 9.10 catalyst drivers) so I did using the 'sh' command and a USB stick (I have a working Windows partition) and it installed fine but did not fix the problem. Edit: Thanks to UK and Arjan van Bentem below I was able to understand the full error message of start x: Parse error on lone 2 of /etc/X11/xorg.conf 'nameserver' is not a valid keyword in this section Fatal server error: no screens found This has nothing to do with a graphical error (sorry if I misled anyone) but the xorg.conf file has 3 lines in it and lines 2-3 have an entry 'nameserver'. Using the nano command I commented out (using a # before the entries) the nameservers and can now boot Ubuntu. Thanks to everyone for their help.

We would like to set-up our own backup-server running on any operating system (windows appreciated) which comes with a web-interface, that enables to restore individual versions of one file. Because budget is limited, an open-source software or at least a cheap software is a must! Unfortunately I couldn't find even a single software, which fulfills the requirements of file versioning and web-interface for single file-restore. Do any of you have already set-up such a system? The log files show Error output from : 2013/06/27-15:39:06 [5540] Request-log-analyzer, by Willem van Bergen and $ 2013/06/27-15:39:06 [5540] Website: http://railsdoctors.com I have tried running Request-log-analyzer manually and pointing it at the production log file, and this reports as % for every item. There is data in the log file. I have tried changing the version of the gems installed, and also the type of the log file, but no luck. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
