• Postfix + Exchange + ActiveDirectory; How to mix them

  My client has got many sub-offices, and one head office. The headoffice has a domain name: business.com All users in the many sub-offices need to have a headoffice email address: [email protected] Anyone not in the head office will need the email forwarded to an external email address. All users in the head office will have their email delivered to Microsoft Exchange. Users are listed in Active Directory under two different OU's: HeadOffice or SubOffice. Is this something able to be configured? I've done some googling, but I can't find any examples or businesses set up this way. Edit: Postfix will accept all email, will need to determine to forward the email to an external account or alternatively have it delivered to MS Exchange. I've done some reading about MS Exchange and that you can 'mail-enable' contacts for forwarding - but I don't know if each AD account requires an Exchange CAL? The end goal is to forward email to external accounts to sub offices or accept email for head office. • Allow members of a group to be unlocked by a specific account on AD

  Background I'm creating a service to allow support staff to enable their firecall accounts out of hours (i.e. if there's an issue in the night and we can't get hold of someone with admin rights, another member of the support team can enable their personal firecall account on AD, which has previously been setup with admin rights). This service also logs a reason for the change, alerts key people, and a bunch of other bits to ensure that this change of access is audited / so we can ensure these temporary admin rights are used in the proper way. To do this I need the service account which my service runs under to have permissions to enable users on active directory. Ideally I'd like to lock this down so that the service account can only enable/disable users in a particular AD security group. Question How do you grant access to an account to enable/disable users who are members of a particular security group in AD? Backup Question If it's not possible to do this by security group, is there a suitable alternative? i.e. could it be done by OU, or would it be best to write a script to loop through all members of the security group and update the permissions on the objects (firecall accounts) themselves? • printer assignments for windows xp workstations within an active directory environment

  I'm using the following script to handle removing any old networked printers from machines and then assigning the propper ones and making one of them the default. This script is assigned to the OU the workstations reside in and uses group policy loopback so all users that login will get the appropriate printers mapped for them. I tried to use the new Printer Manager as part of W2K3 R2 but when assigning the default this way I get an error that the printer doesn't exist so I'm back to using the script. One flaw that I'm noticing is that it won't remove any printers that happen to be mapped from an RDP session (we don't see this everywhere but there are a few locations). Is there any way to enumerate all RDP printers and remove them similar to how I'm enumerating and removing networked printers? ' ' Printers.vbs - Windows Logon Script. • Error getting PAM / Linux integrated with Active Directory

  I'm trying to add a Linux server to a network which is controlled by AD. The aim is that users of the server will be able to authenticate against the AD domain. I have Kerberos working, but NSS / PAM are more problematic. I'm trying to debug with a simple command such as the following, please see the error. Can anyone assist me to debug? root@antonyg04:~# ldapsearch -H ldap://raadc04.corp.MUNGED.com/ -x -D "cn=MUNGED,ou=Users,dc=corp,dc=MUNGED,dc=com" -W uid=MUNGED Enter LDAP Password: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) additional info: 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C090334, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 525, vece I have had to munge some details, but I can tell you that cn=MUNGED is my username for logging into the AD domain, and the password that I typed was the password for said domain. I don't know why it says "Invalid credentials", and the rest of the error is so cryptic, I have no idea. Is my approach somehow flawed? Is my DN obviously wrong? How can I confirm the correct DN? There was a tool online but I can't find it. NB I have no access to the AD Server for administration or configuration.

• Trouble with Remote Desktop pulling through printers. Drive Redirection works, and the ports created but not the printers

  I've run out of things to look into. All the support documents have been gone through and still provide no resolution. I've checked the service permissions, (sc sdshow spooler) they all match up with other systems and what is output on the support documents. I'm nearly positive that the issue can't be permissions anyway as the software requires all users to be an administrator, so all users are a local administrator. (I haven't looked into why yet but its on the list, I was just recently brought into this team and we've put procedures in place for quick recovery.) We've applied hot fixes relating to RDS and printing, though I'm not sure which ones they were. I've combed through group policy and no where is printer redirection disabled. It's setup with all default values regarding the use and redirection of printers and a quick install of W2k8 R2 shows that it works by default. This dev install was joined to the same domain, placed in the same OU, shows the same policies applied, etc, etc, etc, The server generates all the correct redirected ports but no printers are created. It will also redirect drives without issue, this would seem to rule out the usermode service that handles redirects being broken. No events are logged related to any of the events and there are no events from the TerminalServices-Printer source. There were local printers setup. I didn't think it would mattter but as I was running out of ideas I tried deleting them all with no change. The TS was configured for the software it will be running before we checked out the redirection of printers so the other team responsible to setting up new servers wants to find a fix instead of reloading a new server. I'm not sure where or what else to look for. Any ideas?

• Using JQuery tabs in an HTML 5 page

  In this post I will show you how to create a simple tabbed interface using JQuery,HTML 5 and CSS.Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of JQuery (minified version) from http://jquery.com/download.Please find here all my posts regarding JQuery.Also have a look at my posts regarding HTML 5.In order to be absolutely clear this is not (and could not be) a detailed tutorial on HTML 5. There are other great resources for that.Navigate to the excellent interactive tutorials of W3School.Another excellent resource is HTML 5 Doctor.Two very nice sites that show you what features and specifications are implemented by various browsers and their versions are http://caniuse.com/ and http://html5test.com/. At this times Chrome seems to support most of HTML 5 specifications.Another excellent way to find out if the browser supports HTML 5 and CSS 3 features is to use the Javascript lightweight library Modernizr.In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application.   In this post I will show you how easy is to sort the columns of an HTML table. I will use an external library,called Tablesorter which makes life so much easier for developers. ?here are other posts in my blog regarding JQuery.You can find them all here. You can find another post regarding HTML tables and JQuery here. We will demonstrate this with a step by step example. I will use Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate. You can also use Visual Studio 2012 Express Edition. You can also use VS 2010 editions.   1) Launch Visual Studio. Create an ASP.Net Empty Web application. Choose an appropriate name for your application. 2) Add a web form, default.aspx page to the application. 3) Add a table from the HTML controls tab control (from the Toolbox) on the default.aspx page 4) Now we need to download the JQuery library. Please visit the http://jquery.com/ and download the minified version.Then we need to download the Tablesorter JQuery plugin. In this post I will be providing you with a hands-on example on the JQuery Cycle Plugin.I have been using extensively this plugin in my websites.You can rotate a series of images using various transitions with this plugin.It is a slideshow type of experience. I will be writing more posts regarding the most commonly used JQuery Plugins.  In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. • OAM OVD integration - Error Encounterd while performance test "LDAP response read timed out, timeout used:2000ms"

  While working on OAM OVD integration for one of my client, I have been involved in the performance test of the products wherein I encountered OAM authentication failures while talking to OVD during heavy load. OAM logs revealed the following: oracle.security.am.common.policy.common.response.ResponseException: oracle.security.am.engines.common.identity.provider.exceptions.IdentityProviderException: OAMSSA-20012: Exception in getting user attributes for user : dummy_user1, idstore MyIdentityStore with exception javax.naming.NamingException: LDAP response read timed out, timeout used:2000ms.; remaining name 'ou=people,dc=oracle,dc=com' at oracle.security.am.common.policy.common.response.IdentityValueProvider.getUserAttribute(IdentityValueProvider.java:271) ... During the authentication and authorization process, OAM complains that the LDAP repository is taking too long to return user attributes.The default value is 2 seconds as can be seen from the exception, "2000ms". While troubleshooting the issue, it was found that we can increase the ldap read timeout in oam-config.xml.  For reference, the attribute to add in the oam-config.xml file is: <Setting Name="LdapReadTimeout" Type="xsd:string">2000</Setting> However it is not recommended to increase the time out unless it is absolutely necessary and ensure that back-end directory servers are working fine. Rather I took the path of tuning OVD in the following manner: 1) Navigate to ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OPMN/opmn folder and edit opmn.xml. Search for <data id="java-options" ………> and edit the contents of the file with the highlighted items: <category id="start-options"><data id="java-bin" value="$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java"/><data id="java-options" value="-server -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -Dvde.soTimeoutBackend=0 -Didm.oracle.home=$ORACLE_HOME -Dcommon.components.home=$ORACLE_HOME/../oracle_common -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCDateStamps -Xloggc:/opt/bea/Middleware/asinst_1/diagnostics/logs/OVD/ovd1/ovdGClog.log -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -Doracle.security.jps.config=$ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/JPS/jps-config-jse.xml"/><data id="java-classpath" value="$ORACLE_HOME/ovd/jlib/vde.jar$:$ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib/ojdbc6.jar"/></category></module-data><stop timeout="120"/><ping interval="60"/></process-type> When the system is busy, a ping from the Oracle Process Manager and Notification Server (OPMN) to Oracle Virtual Directory may fail. As a result, OPMN will restart Oracle Virtual Directory after 20 seconds (the default ping interval). To avoid this, consider increasing the ping interval to 60 seconds or more. 2) Navigate to ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OVD/ovd1 folder.Open listeners.os_xml file and perform the following changes: · Search for <ldap id=”Ldap Endpoint”…….> and point the cursor to that line. · Change threads count to 200. · Change anonymous bind to Deny. · Change workQueueCapacity to 8096. Add a new parameter <useNIO> and set its value to false viz: <useNIO>false</useNio> Snippet: <ldap version="8" id="LDAP Endpoint"> ....... .......  <socketOptions><backlog>128</backlog>         <reuseAddress>false</reuseAddress>         <keepAlive>false</keepAlive>         <tcpNoDelay>true</tcpNoDelay>         <readTimeout>0</readTimeout>      </socketOptions> <useNIO>false</useNIO></ldap> Restart OVD server. • Programação paralela no .NET Framework 4 – Parte II

  Olá pessoal, tudo bem? Este post é uma continuação da série iniciada neste outro post, sobre programação paralela. Meu objetivo hoje é apresentar o PLINQ, algo que poderá ser utilizado imediatamente nos projetos de vocês. Parallel LINQ (PLINQ) PLINQ nada mais é que uma implementação de programação paralela ao nosso famoso LINQ, através de métodos de extensão. O LINQ foi lançado com a versão 3.0 na plataforma .NET, apresentando uma maneira muito mais fácil e segura de manipular coleções IEnumerable ou IEnumerable<T>. O que veremos hoje é a “alteração” do LINQ to Objects, que é direcionado a coleções de objetos em memória. A principal diferença entre o LINQ to Objects “normal” e o paralelo é que na segunda opção o processamento é realizado tentando utilizar todos os recursos disponíveis para tal, obtendo uma melhora significante de performance. CUIDADO: Nem todas as operações ficam mais rápidas utilizando recursos de paralelismo. Não deixe de ler a seção “Performance” abaixo. ParallelEnumerable Tudo que a gente precisa para este post está organizado na classe ParallelEnumerable. Esta classe contém os métodos que iremos utilizar neste post, e muito mais: AsParallel AsSequential AsOrdered AsUnordered WithCancellation WithDegreeOfParallelism WithMergeOptions WithExecutionMode ForAll … O exemplo mais básico de como executar um código PLINQ é utilizando o métodos AsParallel, como o exemplo: var source = Enumerable.Range(1, 10000); var evenNums = from num in source.AsParallel() where Compute(num) > 0 select num; Algo tão interessante quanto esta facilidade é que o PLINQ não executa sempre de forma paralela. Dependendo da situação e da análise de alguns itens no cenário de execução, talvez seja mais adequado executar o código de forma sequencial – e nativamente o próprio PLINQ faz esta escolha.  É possível forçar a execução para sempre utilizar o paralelismo, caso seja necessário. Utilize o método WithExecutionMode no seu código PLINQ. Instrução utilizando AsParallel   2. Instrução sem utilizar paralelismo Performance Apesar de todos os benefícios, não podemos utilizar PLINQ sem conhecer todos os seus detalhes. Lembre-se de fazer as perguntas básicas: Eu tenho trabalho suficiente que justifique utilizar paralelismo? Mesmo com o overhead do PLINQ, vamos ter algum benefício? Por este motivo, visite este link e conheça todos os aspectos, antes de utilizar os recursos disponíveis. Conclusão Utilizar recursos de paralelismo é ótimo, aumenta a performance, utiliza o investimento realizado em hardware – tudo isso sem custo de produtividade. I could stop there and let that be the entirety post #2 in this series.  Planning is the single most important element in building a cluster and the Laptop Demo Cluster is no exception.  One of the more awkward parts of actually creating a cluster is coordinating information between Windows Clustering and SQL Clustering.  The dialog boxes show up hours apart, but still have to have matching and consistent information. • Some OBI EE Tricks and Tips in the Admin Tool By Gerry Langton

  How to set the log level from a Session variable Initialization block As we know it is normal to set the log level non-zero for a particular user when we wish to debug problems. However sometimes it is inconvenient to go into each user’s properties in the Admin tool and update the log level. So I am showing a method which allows the log level to be set for all users via a session initialization block. This is particularly useful for anyone wanting an alternative way to set the log level. The screen shots shown are using the OBIEE 11g SampleApp demo but are applicable to any environment. Open the appropriate rpd in on-line mode and navigate to Manage Variables. Select Session Initialization Blocks, right click in the white space and create a New Initialization Block. I called the Initialization block Set_Loglevel . Now click on ‘Edit Data Source’ to enter the SQL. Chose the ‘Use OBI EE Server’ option for the SQL. This means that the SQL provided must use tables which have been defined in the Physical layer of the RPD, and whilst there is no need to provide a connection pool you must work in On-Line mode. The SQL can access any of the RPD tables and is purely used to return a value of 2. The ‘Test’ button confirms that the SQL is valid. Next, click on the ‘Edit Data Target’ button to add the LOGLEVEL variable to the initialization block. Check the ‘Enable any user to set the value’ option so that this will work for any user. Click OK and the following message will display as LOGLEVEL is a system session variable: Click ‘Yes’. Click ‘OK’ to save the Initialization block. Then check in the On-LIne changes. To test that LOGLEVEL has been set, log in to OBIEE using an administrative login (e.g. weblogic) and reload server metadata, either from the Analysis editor or from Administration > Reload Files and Metadata link. Run a query then navigate to Administration > Manage Sessions and click ‘View Log’ for the query just issued (which should be approximately the last in the list). A log file should exist and with LOGLEVEL set to 2 should include both logical and physical sql. If more diagnostic information is required then set LOGLEVEL to a higher value. If logging is required only for a particular analysis then an alternative method can be used directly from the Analysis editor. Edit the analysis for which debugging is required and click on the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the Advanced SQL clauses section and enter the following in the Prefix box: SET VARIABLE LOGLEVEL = 2; Click the ‘Apply SQL’ button. The SET VARIABLE statement will now prefix the Analysis’s logical SQL. So that any time this analysis is run it will produce a log. • Using M2Crypto to save and load X509 certs in pem files

  I would expect that if I have a X509 cert as an object in memory, saved it as a pem file, then loaded it back in, I would end up with the same cert I started with. This seems not to be the case however. Let's call the original cert A, and the cert loaded from the pem file B. A.as_text() is identical to B.as_text(), but A.as_pem() differs from B.as_pem(). To say the least, I'm confused by this. As a side note, if A has been signed by another entity C, then A will verify against C's cert, but B will not. I've put together a tiny sample program to demonstrate what I'm seeing. When I run this, the second RuntimeError is raised. • Flex 3 : UIComponent.addChild issue

  Hello SOers, I've run into a nice problem with the UIComponent.addChild(...) function. First of all, I'm using ESRI Api for Flex. In this API you find a class called Graphic that inherits UIComponent. Basically, I'm trying to add, as a child, a Graphic 'g' to another graphic 'parent'. The problem is after... it's like if the addChild function was asynchronious. • Problems requesting the LDAP: The server is unwilling to process the request.

  We have written an authentication provider for a SharePoint web application which can requests multiple LDAP directories. One of the LDAP server have to be requested via SSL. So we imported the CA certificate which was used to sign the LDAP server's certificate into the certificate store of the SharePoint server. The following code snippet shows how we authenticate an user. The passed credentials (account, password) belong to the user we want to authenticate. var entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://<ldap-server-address>", "cn=account,ou=sub,o=xyz,c=de", "password", AuthenticationTypes.SecureSocketsLayer); var searcher = new DirectorySearcher(entry); var found = searcher.FindOne(); When the code is processed, the call to searcher.FindOne() throws following exception. System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80072035): The server is unwilling to process the request What circumstance can lead to this error? UPDATE: I found some information about the error message. There the problem seems to be the certificate store, as the user has only stored the certificate in the in the user's store and not in the computer's store. Unfortunately we've already stored it there. So could this be still a certificate issue? UPDATE/SOLUTION: Actually the problem is solved. It seems as if the root CA certificate was imported correctly but the error messages the LDAP server responded was caused by an expired user account our customer gave us for testing.

• Circular dependecy in winforms app using Castle Windsor

  Hello, I was experimenting a little bit with Castle winforms in a winforms project. I wanted to register all my form dependencies with Castle windsor. This way I would have a single instance for all my forms. Now I have some problem though. I'm in a situation that form x has a dependency on form y and form y has a dependency on form x. Practical example maybe: form x is used to create an order, form y is the screen that has a list of customers. From form x there is a button to select a customer for the order. This will open form y where ou can search the customer. There is a button that lets you add the found customer to the order. It will call a method on form x and passes the selected customer object. I could do this with events. Raise an event in form y and listen for that in form x. But isn't there a way around the circular dependency in Castle Windsor, lazy registration or something? Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance

• Database sharing/versioning

  Hi everyone, I have a question but I'm not sure of the word to use. My problem: I have an application using a database to stock information. The database can ben in access (local) or in a server (SQL Server or Oracle). We support these 3 kind of database. We want to give the possibility to the user to do what I think we can call versioning. Let me explain : We have a database 1. This is the master. We want to be able to create a database 2 that will be the same thing as database 1 but we can give it to someone else. They each work on each other side, adding, modifying and deleting records on this very complex database. After that, we want the database 1 to include the change from database 2, but with the possibility to dismiss some of the change. For you information, ou application is already multiuser so why don't we just use this multi-user and forget about this versionning? It's because sometimes, we need to give a copy of the database to another company on another site and they can't connect on our server. They work on their side and then, we want to merge. Is there anyone here with experience with this type of requirement? We have a lot of ideas but most of them require a LOT of work, massive modification to the database or to the existing queries. This is a 2 millions and growing C++ app, so rewriting it is not possible! Thanks for any ideas that you may give us! J-F
