    I'm writing my own IFormatter implementation and I cannot think of a way to resolve circular references between two types that both implement ISerializable. But I cannot conceive of a way to achieve this in my custom IFormatter. In a non-ISerializable situation I can simply revisit "pending" object fields using reflection once the target references have been resolved. But for objects implementing ISerializable it is not possible to inject new data using SerializationInfo. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • save and restore state of a tab bar controller

    I have an application that has a UITabBarController with two tabs, each having its own navigation controller. Now I want to store the state of the application when the user closes it, so that when the user relauches the application will show the same place as the last time before it was closed. So, in applicationWillTerminate: I have [NSKeyedArchiver archiveRootObject:tabBarController toFile:@"lastVisitedTab"]; Then, in applicationDidFinishLaunching: I have UITabBarController *last= (UITabBarController *)[NSKeyedUnarchiver unarchiveObjectWithFile:@"lastVisitedTab"]; if (last) tabBarController = [last retain]; I also have an extension to UIImage to make it compliant to NSCoding. However, this doesn't work, as the state is not preserved. The first tab gets selected all the time, and no navigation is preserved either. Can someone tell me what's wrong, or show me how to do it correctly?

  • Google Charts: Bar chart labels are reversed

    I create dinamically a chart for a website. I have a key/value map, I sort the values descending, and then create the url: http://chart.googleapis.com/chart? chs=400x200&cht=bhs&chbh=a&chdlp=l&chg=25,0&chma=0,0,0,5&chtt=Chart+test& chxr=0,0,8,1&chds=0,8&chxt=t,y& chd=t:8,5,3& chxl=1:|Label_8|Label_5|Label_3 The values are set by chd=t:8,5,3, and the labels are set by chxl=1:|Label_8|Label_5|Label_3. However, in the chart image the labels are reversed. I searched the documentation, but I didn't get why it is like this. Is it because I didn't set a value correctly, or is this the desired functionality? I could reverse the label texts in chxl from code to be displayed how I want. Is this the right way?

    I have been having a problem with a notification not opening/going to the correct activity when it has been clicked. My notification code (located in a class which extends Service): Context context = getApplicationContext(); CharSequence contentTitle = "Notification"; CharSequence contentText = "New Notification"; final Notification notifyDetails = new Notification(R.drawable.icon, "Consider yourself notified", System.currentTimeMillis()); Intent notifyIntent = new Intent(context, MainActivity.class); PendingIntent intent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, notifyIntent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT | Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL); notifyDetails.setLatestEventInfo(context, contentTitle, contentText, intent); ((NotificationManager)getSystemService(NOTIFICATION_SERVICE)).notify(NOTIFICATION_ID, notifyDetails); If I click the notification while the application which created the service is open, the notification disappears (due to the FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL) but the activity does not switch. If I click the notification from the home screen, the notification disappears and my app is brought to the front, however it remains on the activity which was open before going to the home screen, instead of going to the main screen. What am I doing wrong? How do I specify the activity that will be pulled up?

  • Can't override "From" address in MailMessage class using .config login credentials

    I'm updating some existing code that sends a simple email using .Net's SMTP classes. Sample code is below. The SMTP host is google and login info is contained in the App.config as shown below (obviously not real login info :)). The problem I'm having, and I haven't been able to find any answers Googling, is that I can NOT override the display of the "from" email address that's contained in the "username" attribute off the Network element in the config in the delivered email. In the line below that explicitly sets the From property off the myMailMessage object, that value, "[email protected]" does NOT display when the email is received. It still shows as "[email protected]" from the Network tag. However, the From name "Sparky" does appear in the email. I've tried adding a custom "From" header to the Header property of the myMailMessage but that didn't work either. Is there anyway to login to the smtp server, as shown below using the Network tag credentials, but in the actual email received override the From email address that's displayed?   • How to get rid of the double scroll bar problem when using an iframe

    I've seen this problem on the web, and all the suggested solutions aren't working for me, so I thought I'd come here. I have a page that has an iframe. The top of the page is a dropdown menu, the rest of the page is the iframe. The idea like I'm sure everybody else does, is to have the menu stay stationary and the menu selection runs an application in the iframe. The contents of the iframe should scroll, but the page as a whole should not. I've tried putting the iframe width=height=100% inside a single table element also with width=height=100% but I get two scrollbars if I make the window too short vertically. Any suggestions?

  • check whether mmap'ed address is correct

    I'm writing a high-loaded daemon that should be run on the FreeBSD 8.0 and on Linux as well. The main purpose of daemon is to pass files that are requested by their identifier. Identifier is converted into local filename/file size via request to db. And then I use sequential mmap() calls to pass file blocks with send(). However sometimes there are mismatch of filesize in db and filesize on filesystem (realsize < size in db). In this situation I've sent all real data blocks and when next data block is mapped -- mmap returns no errors, just usual address (I've checked errno variable also, it's equal to zero after mmap). And when daemon tries to send this block it gets Segmentation Fault. (This behaviour is guarantedly issued on FreeBSD 8.0 amd64) I was using safe check before open to ensure size with stat() call. However real life shows to me that segfault still can be raised in rare situtaions. So, my question is there a way to check whether pointer is accessible before dereferencing it? When I've opened core in gdb, gdb says that given address is out of bound. Probably there is another solution somebody can propose.

  • UIToolbar on top of navigation bar - black opaque doesn't blend

    I am trying to put a UIToolbar on the right side of a UINavigationBar, to add multiple buttons on that side. When I leave the tint of both to Default, they blend fine. But when I set both of them to BlackOpaque, they don't blend very well. I can see the edge of where the toolbar starts very clearly. I've tried this through IB and code. Same result in both cases. Anyone run into this before, or can offer some suggestions?

  • nginx error: (99: Cannot assign requested address)

    I am running Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 and nginx 0.7.65, and when I try starting my nginx server: $ sudo /etc/init.d/nginx start I get the following error: Starting nginx: [emerg]: bind() to IP failed (99: Cannot assign requested address) where "IP" is a placeholder for my IP address. If I wanted to, I guess I could look for the proper types (street_number,route, etc) as well. I'd love it if anyone had a better way than what I"m doing here...

    Hello, I want to create a footer like facebook, that sticks at the bottom of the page, irrespective of the scroll. <div id="footer"></div> and here is the css style #footer{ position:absolute; left:0px; margin-bottom:0px; vertical-align:bottom; bottom:0px; width:100%; height:25px; background-color:#dfd5d7; overflow:hidden; } It comes fine, when I resize the browser window it does not stick to the bottom but a about 50 pixels up.   • Problems with .net and toolbar, menu & status bar rendermode (blue) and standard form (grey)

    Hiya, I'm a bit of a newbie to .NET so please ignore my ignorance. If you look at the above image (a complete prototype, ignore black bits :)) you will see lovely menus, toolbars & statusbars all using windows XP render mode and in a funky blue. Look at the form, labels, checkboxes and other buttons and you see horrible old school windows grey. These components don't have a render mode. My question: is there any way to show everything in XP style or do I have to chose new components? Thx. A.

    Running through an iPhone SDK book and one of the examples has me creating a table and then later adding a UISegmentedControl to the table for sorting. I dutifully did this in IB, and it looks great: When I run it in the simulator or my phone, it's totally squished: The buttons work perfectly, it's just they are not sizing according to their content. Any ideas what's going wrong? Here's the attributes I have set:
