    I am new to sendmail and would like to configure sendmail to forward all mail for a specific email address to another internal mail server. I need it to ignore the MX records and only send it to the server I specify but am not sure which files to edit or how to configure the sendmail config. Is it sufficient to add the server to the /etc/hosts and the /etc/mail/local-host-names files? Thanks in advance.

    I am trying to create a software stripe setup with two physical disks (underneath they are 128K stripe, RAID5 for each). I've read that one can use diskpart, but I am unable to come up with a command that works. This is on Server 2k3 SP2. I was trying create volume stripe disk=2,3 align=1024 Diskpart errors out: The arguments you specified for this command are not valid. P.S. Tried successfully with a basic disk and a primary partition. Please reply, -Greg

  • Problems creating service using sc.exe

    I have this command to create a service: sc create svnserve binpath="\"C:\Program Files (x86)\Subversion\bin\svnserve.exe\" --service --root C:\SVNRoot" displayname="Subversion" depend=tcpip start=auto obj="NT AUTHORITY\LocalService" Unfortunately, it seems not to work, even though the syntax is correct. When I run it, I get the usage instructions (which I guess is a way of telling me that I've supplied incorrect arguments, although I have no idea what incorrect argument I might have supplied). Can anyone help me out of my difficulty? Thanks!

    Hello, I recently learned of the joys of square brackets with SMART_HOST to have sendmail ignore MX lookups. I need this functionality, however, I can't seem to make it persistant. Sending mail with -Am works, however, -bm does not. In the -Am case, the correct mail server is used. In the -bm case, an MX lookup is still being performed. Is there a way to disable MX lookups (or some working alternative)? Thanks

    can i convert phone wiring in walls to act as only Ethernet network cause the phone wiring is not in use and not connected to the phone company so there is no voltage in the wires i remove the wall plate and i find 6 wires blue,blue/white,green,green/white,orange,orange/white , and i know that Ethernet use 8 here is what i am thinking get Ethernet cable cut it in half and attach wires from wall to the first computer and the same with the other computer so if this is possible do i just attach wires in the same color and ignore brown wire or do i have to rearrange wires , and how much the speed will be thank you in advance

    Is it possible to improve the quality of reports from logwatch? Like make it not just report disk usage which doesn't even change much in daily operation, but report significant changes in usage or approaching critical capacity levels? If I cannot do that with logwatch and instead have to write custom scripts to produce such reports, logwatch appears to be pretty useless, or even dangerous, as many users reportedly grow to ignore emails from it knowing they are so boring.

    I have a server, and windows vista, 64-bit, 4gb ram. Sometimes the server randomly drops into the page file, and disconnects everyone who was online. Only after I click the cmd.exe window does it comes back out. How do I mark a program as not eligible for the page file?   • Diff 2 files while ignoring parts of lines

    I would like to diff a file system. Currently my bash script prints out the file system recursively into a file (ls -l -R) and diffs it with an expected output. An example for a line in this file would be: drw---- 100000f3 00000400 0 ./foo/ My current diff command is diff "$TEMP_LOG" "$DIFF_FILE_OUT" --strip-trailing-cr --changed-group-format='%' --unchanged-group-format='' "$SubLog" As you can see I ignore additional lines in the current output file, I only care about lines that match with the master output. I now have the problem though that some files may differ in size, or a folder might even have a different name, but due to it's location I know what access rights it should have. For example: Output: ------- 00000000 00000000 528 ./foo/bar.txt Master: ------- 00000000 00000000 200 ./foo/bar.txt Only the size differs here, and it doesn't matter, I would like to just ignore certain parts of the diff, kind of like an ansi c comment. Master: ------- 00000000 00000000 /*200*/ ./foo/bar.txt -- OR -- Master: d------ 00000000 00000000 /*10*/ ./foo//*123123*///*76456546*//bar.txt Output: d------ 00000000 00000000 0 ./foo/asd/sdf/bar.txt And still have it diff correctly. Is this even possible with diff, or will I have to write a custom script for it? Since I'm fairly new to cygwin I might be using the completely wrong tool all together, I'm happy for any suggestions. Update: Taking a step back, here is the general task at hand that I want to achieve. I want to write a script that checks the file system to see if the read/write permissions are set up correctly. The structure of the file system is under my control, so I don't have to worry about it changing too much. Sometimes folders/files might not be present, but if they are their permissions must be checked. For Example assume that the following is a snapshot of the current file system structure drw ./foo drw ./foo/bar -rw ./foow/bar/bar.txt drw ./foo/baz -rw ./foo/baz/baz.txt And this is what the file system structure might dictate, i.e. if these folders / files are present, the permissions must match. drw ./foo drw ./foo/bar -rw ./foo/bar/bar.txt --- ./foo/bar/foobar.txt drw ./foo/baz -rw ./foo/baz/foobaz.txt In this case the file system checked out ok, since all files present match their expected values. The situation becomes more complicated as soon as certain folders might have any arbitrary name, only due to their location I know what their permissions should be. Assume that the directory ./foo/bar in the above example might be such a case, i.e. instead of bar the folder could have any name, but still match the -rw permissions. This seems like a very complicated situation, and I'm not even sure if I can solve it with bash scripting alone. I might have to write an actual application.

    I am attempting to use the zip -r command to zip a folder which includes two files. I need to pass the absolute path of the folder with two files (/path/to/my/files/), which is causing all of the folders to be zipped with it, where as I only need the last folder (files/) and its contents to be zipped, so that when the file is unzipped, there is only one folder and the two files within it. How can I modify the command to be able to pass the absolute paths in the arguments while keeping only the last folder?

    Is there a way to auto-rename an existing file on the receiver? For example: if filename already exists, it auto-rename filename to something like filename_001, filename_002 and so on.... The file belongs to package mysql-common which is needed for some vital functionality so I can't just purge && install it: the dependencies would be also uninstalled (or if I can ignore them temporarily, they won't be working). Is there a way to restore the config file from a package without un-ar-ing the package file? dpkg-reconfigure mysql-common did not restore it.

    The only thing I need indexed in the /Applications folder are the .app files. Is there any way to setup a filter to have mds or Spotlight ignore everything in /Applications except .apps? Otherwise, would it be possible to setup a rule for Alfred to omit any non-.app records from /Applications? I still want documents indexed and returned, just not from that specific directory.     At work, certain protocols are blocked, and websites that I visit try to access these protocols with Javascript. These sites work fine when these requests fail (except for whatever it's trying to do with the requests), but I have to click cancel on a multitude of proxy authentication dialogs. What I want to do is just have firefox silently ignore this, so I can use the website without having to click cancel 8 times on every action I make (this includes all the stack overflow style sites which is trying to make requests with the ws: protocol).
