Scala method where type of second parameter equals part of generic type from first parameter

I want to create a specific generic method in Scala. It takes two parameters. The first is of the type of a generic Java Interface (it's from the JPA criteria query). It currently looks like this: def genericFind(attribute:SingularAttribute[Person, _], value:Object) { ... } // The Java Interface which is the type of the first parameter in my find-method: public interface SingularAttribute<X, T> extends Attribute<X, T>, Bindable<T> Now i want to achieve the following: value is currently of type java.lang.Object. But I want to make it more specific. Value has to be the of the same type as the placeholder "_" from the first parameter (and so represents the "T" in the Java interface). Is that somehow possible, and how? BTW Sorry for the stupid question title (any suggestions?)

Hi all, I was asked to design a class for caching SQL query results. Calling the class' query method will query and cache the entire set of results at the first time; afterward, each subsequence query will retrieve only the updated portion, and will merge the result into the cache. If the class is required to be generic, i.e. NO knowledge about the db and the tables, do you have any idea? Is it possible, and how to retrieve only updated/new records since the last query? Thanks! I have two files: fileA: date >> /root/kvno.out kvno serverXXX\$ >> /root/kvno.out fileB: foobar I need to create a new file, fileC, with the same contents as fileA, except with the string XXX being replaced with the contents of fileB: date >> /root/kvno.out kvno serverfoobar\$ >> /root/kvno.out I'd like to do this using sed. I tried some of the examples I found but I only get the contents of fileB in fileC.

making java SingleFrameApplication to appear second

Sorry if this question will sound too chaotic, feel free to edit it. I have an application made entirely in netbeans, which uses SingleFrameApplication and auto-generated the GUI code, named "MyApp", and FrameView, named "MyView". Now, the MyApp somehow has the main() function, but the MyView has all the graphic elements.. I don't entirely understand how that happens, so used it as black box (it somehow created the window, I didn't have to care why). But now, I need the window to be only a window, opened by another JFrame. I don't know, how to accomplish that. MyApp, which is extending SingleFrameApplication, have these methods: public class MyApp extends SingleFrameApplication { @Override protected void startup() { show(new MyView(this)); } @Override protected void configureWindow(java.awt.Window root) { } public static MyApp getApplication() { return Application.getInstance(MyApp.class); } public static void main(String[] args) { launch(MyApp.class, args); } } MyView has these methods: public class MyView extends FrameView { public MyView(SingleFrameApplication app) { super(app); initComponents(); } private void initComponents() { //all the GUI stuff is somehow defined here } } Now, I have no clue how the two classes work, I just want this window, defined in MyView, to appear after another window, "ordinary" JFrame. How can I call this MyApp/MyView?

Prolog adding and removing list element if non present in second list

I don't know what I'm missing here. I wan't to add an element if it is in arg1 but not in arg2 and want to remove an element if it is in arg1 but not in arg2. I'm using an if condition with includes function that return true if the element is in the arg2 list, false otherwise. Then use built it predicates append and select to add or remove. I'm getting false to all my objectives searches. I comment and uncomment depending on what predicate I want, add or remove. includes([],_). includes([P|Z],S) :- memberchk(P,S), includes(Z,S). addop([],list,res). addop([P|R],list,res) :- includes(P,s0) - addop(R,list,res) ; append(P,list,res), addop(R,list,res). rem([],list,res). rem([P|R],list,res) :- includes(P,list) - rem(R,list,res) ; select(P,list,res),rem(R,list,res). IE form input data disappear after browser refresh

Hi, I'm trying to achieve sticky forms without PHP. My setup is AJAX like javascript. The back/forward work fine on both IE and FF, but refresh only works on FF, not IE. Doesn't matter what cache options I use, I've even set IE's temporary files option to never check for updates, and the input value is gone after page refresh(the refresh button or F5) I've read many posts where people have the opposite problem, and do not want form data to persist across page refresh, and never read from browser cache, but I do. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

How return 304 status with FileResult in ASP.NET MVC RC1

As you may know we have got a new ActionResult called FileResult in RC1 version of ASP.NET MVC. Using that, your action methods can return image to browser dynamically. Something like this: public ActionResult DisplayPhoto(int id) { Photo photo = GetPhotoFromDatabase(id); return File(photo.Content, photo.ContentType); } In the HTML code, we can use something like this: <img src="http://mysite.com/controller/DisplayPhoto/657"> Since the image is returned dynamically, we need a way to cache the returned stream so that we don't need to read the image again from database. I guess we can do it with something like this, I'm not sure: Response.StatusCode = 304; This tells the browser that you already have the image in your cache. I just don't know what to return in my action method after setting StatusCode to 304. Should I return null or something?

Very long strings as primary keys in a database for caching

Hi, I am working on a web app that allows users to create dynamic PDF files based on what they enter into a form (it is not very structured data). The idea is that User 1 enters several words (arbitrary # of words, practically capped of course), for example: A B C D E There is no such string in the database, so I was thinking: Store this string as a primary key in a MySQL database (it could be maybe around 50-100k of text, but usually probably less than 200 words) Generate the PDF file, and create a link to it in the database When the next user requests A B C D E, then I can just serve the file instead of recreating it each time. (simple cache) The PDF is cpu intensive to generate, so I am trying to cache as much as I can... My questions are: Does anyone have any alternative ideas to my approach What will the database performance be like? Is there a better way to design the schema than using the input string as the primary key?

Increase RGB components every Hour (r), Minute (g), Second (b) for digital clock

So I am taking my first javascript class (total noob) and one of the assignments is to modify a digital clock by assigning the color red to hours, green minutes, blue to seconds, then increase the respective color component when it changes. I have successfully assigned a decimal color value (ex. "#850000" to each element (hours, minutes, seconds), but my brain is fried trying to figure out how to increase the brightness when hours, minutes, seconds change, i.e. red goes up to "#870000" changing from 1:00:00 pm to 2:00:00 pm. I've searched everywhere with no help on how to successfully do this. Here is what I have so far and any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for a resource that goes into some depth on MVC, event models, delegates, etc. Something in a similar vein to the POSA series would be excellent. I'm looking for something that is as platform-agnostic as possible, but I'm not sure if that even IS possible.

cant populate cells with an array when i have loaded a second UITableViewController

Smoothing Small Data Set With Second Order Quadratic Curve

I'm doing some specific signal analysis, and I am in need of a method that would smooth out a given bell-shaped distribution curve. A running average approach isn't producing the results I desire. I want to keep the min/max, and general shape of my fitted curve intact, but resolve the inconsistencies in sampling. In short: if given a set of data that models a simple quadratic curve, what statistical smoothing method would you recommend? If possible, please reference an implementation, library, or framework. Hi, Currently i'm using Zend_Cache_Backend_File for caching my project (especially responses from external web services). I was wandering if I could find some benefit in migrating the structure to Zend_Cache_Backend_Sqlite. Possible advantages are: File system is well-ordered (only 1 file in cache folder) Removing expired entries should be quicker (my assumption, since zend wouldn't need to scan internal-metadatas for expiring date of each cache) Possible disadvantages: Finding record to read (with files zend check if file exists based on filename and should be a bit quicker) in term of speed. I've tried to search a bit in internet but it seems that there are not a lot of discussion about the matter. What do you think about it? Thanks in advance.
