• Brand New MOnitor Won't Get Input From CPU

  I have an old Dell 2350. I found a HD a few months ago and plugged it in and it booted up. So I just purchased a monitor and plugged it in, and put the HD inside and connected the two connections (Bus, and a four pronged connector) and no signal is being sent to monitor. is this a monitor issue or the HD is just dead? HD is spinning. CPU is turned on :) Yet no signal.. any thoughts?

  Having used Windows 8 (and 8.1) on a touch screen I know how much better it is than with a mouse. I've seen people with graphics tables on 7 use them to scroll their browser etc... so I was wondering if I could use one as a touch screen for windows? and if did would the 8 features of swipe in from the sides etc... work properly? Just incase brand is an issue in this I was looking at getting a Wacom.

  So. I currently have a steering wheel connected to my htpc. Since it wont work / get recognized by all games i play. I use xpadder to play for example Grid 3. As far as i have understood, it simply presses the associated arrow key when i turn the wheel. What i would like, is a software to simulate more and more frequent key presses of the arrow keys the more i turn the wheel. Example: Tilting a little - 100 presses / second Tilting more - 200 presses / second Tilting max - Hold down key Because what i currently do with the wheel is constantly shaking it a bit right, when i just want to turn a little bit right and so on.   I am trying to create a karaoke from a CD+G file (converted to AVI using FFmpeg) and add a video as a background of the lyrics. Here's a screenshot of a the output from CD+G conversion, for simplicity let's call this lyrics.avi http://imgur.com/wUwHUhV Now a have this video.mp4 file that I'd like to put behind this lyrics.avi Here's a sample of what I'm trying to achieve http://imgur.com/8GuWXtQ I'm sure most of you are familiar with karaoke. I haven't used FFmpeg much and I'm not really sure if what I want to achieve is possible with FFmpeg. Is it possible to overlay two videos, and add a transparency to one of the videos? In this case the colour black? How can I set the offset time of the lyrics.avi? • Cant register this user

  I wanted to ask this question on meta, but it said, I have to log in first (which is where I have the problem!) I answered a question with this user. But when I tried to register and click on the stack exchange icon, it only displays three dots (animated) and never comes back. I suspected a firefox problem so I tried firefox on windows: And yes, I was able to create an account linked with my other accounts ( http://unix.stackexchange.com/users/27867/holgero and http://stackoverflow.com/users/1779245/holgero ) when I ran the latest firefox version under windows 7 in a virtual box. Then I upgraded my linux firefox to the newest version and deleted the other account under windows again. But still I cannot register this account ( http://superuser.com/users/177338/holgero ). On unix.stackexchange or stackoverflow I never had any problems with the registration, superuser seems to be different. So, how do I register this user and have it linked with my other stackexchange accounts?

I have Opensuse 11.0 on it as well and it works. So I can boot into Linux and not Windows, not even in safe mode. What would be the troubleshooting steps?

• Software for capturing still image snapshots from video input

  What software is available that will let me watch video from a USB video capture device at full PAL/NTSC resolution and capture a still image at a button press? More info: I'm using a KaiserBaas USB capture device (http://www.kaiserbaas.com/kaiser-baas-product-page/converters/video-to-dvd-maker), and want to capture screen shots from a PS2 connected to it. I'd like to play the game at the full PS2 resolution and capture certain scenes. The device has a one-touch snapshot button on it, but I can't seem to make it work and there's no mention of it anywhere in the documentation. The device works and the video appears in Power Producer (the included software), but I think it previews it smaller than the full resolution. I could print screen it, but having to crop will be a pain.

  I'm trying to record analogue stereo sound with my MacBookAir. The external mic is plugged to the headphones jack, but it is not being shown in the System Preferences. I did a little bit of research, and there is some rumor, that the headphone jack only supports digital-in for mics. Is there a built-in way to use the analogue stereo sound without purchasing an external converter or a new mic? With my old MacBook 2,1 it was usual for me to do this, but with my new MacBook Air 4,1 it seems to be a tough task.

  I have many large data files. The delimiter between the fields is a semicolon. However, I have found that there are semicolons in some of the fields, so I cannot simply use the semicolon as a field separator. The following example has 4 fields, but awk sees only 3, because the '1' in field 3 is stripped by the regex (which includes a '-' because some of the numerical data are negative): echo '"This";"is";1;"line of; data"' | awk -F'[0-9"-];[0-9"-]' '{print "No. of fields:\t"NF; print "Field 3:\t" $3}' No. of fields: 3 Field 3: ;"line of; data" Of course, echo '"This";"is";1;"line of; data"' | awk -F';' '{print "No. of fields:\t"NF}' No. of fields: 5 solves that problem, but counts the last field as two separate fields.   I have been trying to create an FTP server on my new Server 2008. I have been following both (very detailed and highly published here guides) For setting up using IIS Manager http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/321/configure-ftp-with-iis-7-manager-authentication/ and For anonymous FTP http://www.trainsignaltraining.com/windows-server-2008-ftp-iis7 I am able to log as an anonymous user. My need is to use a named user, so I need to use the IIS Manager. I get error 530 when trying to log as a user. Connected to 127.0.0.1. 220 Microsoft FTP Service User (127.0.0.1:(none)): ftpmanager 331 Password required for ftpmanager. Password: 530-User cannot log in. Win32 error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Error details: Filename: Error: 530 End Login failed. ftp> I can not learn from this message anything. My password is set to: 1234 (so I don't think I make a mistake here - testing purposes only ofc) Thank you. Note - I went over other posts on SE that I read, and couldn't get the result: IIS7 Windows Server 2008 FTP -> Response: 530 User cannot log in. FTP Error 530, User cannot log in, home directory inaccessible. Having trouble setting up FTP server on Windows Server 2008 EDIT I think I found some errors with the physical path. Going to Basic settings, and Test Connection on the physical path, gave me the following error: The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built-in account to access the specified physical path. However, IIS Manager cannot verify whether the built-in account has access. Make sure that the application pool identity has Read access to the physical path. If this server is joined to a domain, and the application pool identity is NetworkService or LocalSystem, verify that \$ has Read access to the physical path. Then test these settings again. I am not sure which/whom should get access to the Root folder !? I want to point out, I managed to login with a domain user (change authorization and authentication methods) but this is NOT the requested solution. I checked to make sure that the FTP, folders, access is working properly. I am bit lost here. ==== More tries: I have enabled another Allow rule for ALL Users. I still get the same error. It seems that it doesn't matter if i use a correct or wrong password, I still get Error 530.

  I am having difficulty on our ubuntu server whereby I have an SSH user that when I create files using this user the ownership is web_user:www-data The problem is when a file is uploaded or created using a content management system like joomla. When files are uploaded through Joomla - such as components / modules... The ownership is set to www-data:www-data This means that I need to then chown all new files to web_user:www-data so we can edit the files. Is there a way to set for a directory and sub-directories that all new files created have the ownership of web_user:www-data? Do I need to use something like setuid or setgid? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  We have a SharePoint Services 3.0 site set up supporting about 300 users right now. This report is isolated and has never been duplicated. We have one AD user who cannot log into the SharePoint site with his account from his machine and is subsequently returned a 401.1 error. If any other user tries to log on with their account from his machine, it works okay. If he moves to another machine and logs on, it works okay. The only solution to this point has been to install FireFox on the machine. When he authenticates with FF, everything is okay. Remedies tried so far: Cleared cookies/cache Turned off/on Integrated Windows Authentication in IE Downgraded IE 8 to IE 6 Removed site from Intranet Sites zone Renamed the machine Disjoined/Rejoined Domain

• Auto backup a user folder to a usb when usb is plugged in

  I'm a computer technician and help customers everyday with their computers and smartphones and have a really basic (i think) request but dont know how to go about it. Customer always come in with broken phones, water damage, needing updates, or just want me to backup their information. I currently have a program that i use when i backup their computers it backups their iOS folder C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup but what i want is a quick easy way to do this in customers houses. What i require is a way when i plug in a USB drive it AUTOMATICALLY searches for the folder and starts transferring the folder to a predefined folder on the USB drive. This was I can just plug it in and begin work on their computer or phone without the risk of losing their information. I'm sure there is a .bat/.ini file i could use but wondering if someone has already done this or something similar as I would need it to search all the USER folders not just the one I'm logged into.   my computer can catch the signal for many Access Points for the same network, while the network has problem with internet connection in some APs and it's working in others "all APs have the same SSID" Please advice if as i user i can force my computer to connect with specific AP neither than to go with the one with higher power (through MAC adress or IP)?. I am sure that my computer catch more than 10 signals for APs"All with same SSID". I am using windows 7 home primume 64 bit. as a user i dont have access to the AP config.

  I created a JavaScript file, and named it test.user.js. I tried double clicking it, dragging & dropping it into Chrome and opening it with Chrome, but it won't install. I've already installed the dev version of Chrome, because it's stated somewhere that it's needed, but I can't get it to work. Then, I tried searching for a Chrome Greasemonkey addon, just to see that it was no further developed on, because Chrome has built-in support.   My W8 machine is connected to domain zen. If I rdp to the W8 machine, I can log in as a local user without problems. If I try to log in as a domain user, I am prompted for a smart card instead of a password. Any ideas why? Note that Interactive login: require smart card is disabled in group policy: And here is the output from rsop.msc: Some additional information on this one. If my connecting machine is on the same domain/network as the W8 machine, then I am prompted for a password as usual. If the machine is remote, on a different domain, then I am prompted for a smart card. In addition, the machine I am connecting from that gets the smartcard prompt is an XP box. I haven't isolated exactly which of these factors triggers the different response.

  As a web hoster, it is very easy to notice the large amounts of exploit/abuse attempts done on my servers. Out of curiosity, how often are these attempts done on the average user? I'm assuming almost all of them are prevented just by simple security protocols in place by their browsers, local network, etc. How many attempts, on average, are committed against a single user daily through any method? (email, internet, downloads, etc.)? If known, what percentage of these things are blocked by the average users security? I tried googling but I was having a hard time getting the right search terms together.

• Jail user to home directory while still allowing permission to create and delete files/folders

  I'm trying to give a client SFTP access to the root directory of their site on my server (Ubuntu 10.10) so they can manager their website themselves. While I have been successful in jailing a user to a directory and giving them SFTP access; they are only allowed to create and delete new files in sub directories (the directories they own). This means that I must give them access to the parent directory to the root of their site. How can I limit them to the root of their site (for example public_html) while still allowing them the ability create and delete files. All the tutorials I have read suggest that the root must be the owner of the user's home directory, which prevents them from write access inside that directory. I'm relatively new to managing my own server so any advice would be very grateful. Many thanks.

  I bought a used 15" ViewSonic LCD monitor (VP150m) and noticed that it has a 3.5mm connector on the back labeled “touch i/o”. I’m trying to figure out how to use the touch function but am having trouble finding anything useful. First, I cannot find any information on what kind of cable it uses (TS, TRS, TRRS, etc.), or how to connect it to the computer.
