• Windows 7: Add column to ALL music folders

  In Windows 7 Explorer, when I open a folder containing only music, it's smart enough to show me a custom set of columns (Name, #, Title, Contributing Artists, Album) that make sense for a music folder. However, I also always want to see a Length column. I can right click on the column headers and add the Length column, which is persistent for that folder, but when I go to another music folder, it doesn't have the new Length column. How do I set up Windows so that ALL music folders ALWAYS show me this column?

• Windows External Harddisk drive letter after cloning boot partition to it

  I cloned my windows 7 installation on c: to external hard drive. I applied usb patch using pwboot and i could successfully boot into windows. But My problem is even though i am booting in to external hd the file reference and system path is pointing to c: on my internal hard disk. If i remove internal hd and boot it will get stuck at login screen. Is there any way i can force drive letter c: to my boot partition on external hd while booting from it.

  I need a command line tool that adjusts the time of a Windows 2008 server, using an internet clock. The purpose is to adjust the time in a script, when other apps from that script are not running. It is not an option to use the built-in NTP service because that makes some apps on this server fail - note, that this server is used in an industrial environment with no PCs on the network and no Windows update or similar applied. Any idea, anyone?

  As soon as I logon to Windows 7 64bit, the computer restarts. It isn't a hardware issue, as linux works fine. Windows 7 64 bit. Safe mode, last known good configuration etc, nothing makes any difference. Nor does startup repair or sfc. I used DaRT to check the event log, and nothing is recorded. How can I troubleshoot this?

  Remote Assistance is enabled on a PC to-bo-controlled-remotely which is running Windows 7 Starter. I also allowed permanent access for it on the firewall. On the controlling Windows XP Professional laptop I enabled Offer Remote Assistance using gpedit.msc. Both are on the same Workgroup and on the same subnet in my LAN. Is there anyway this can be had on windows? • Can't see any entries on "File Types" tab on Windows 7's Desktop Search

  For some reason, Windows Desktop Search (included with Windows 7.0) now no longer shows any file types on the "Advanced Options" dialog box. Any ideas on how to fix this? WDS claims to be indexing...but I'm not sure what it's actually indexing right now. I should also add that when I try to add a file type, nothing shows up or is ever actually added. If I login as a different user on the same system, everything appears normally.

• How do I exclude an Outlook folder form Windows Search Index in Windows 7?

  I have a pretty big (~30GB) email archive (Outlook + Exchange: .ost file) and I would like to use the Outlook Search Feature (Windows Search technology). I would like to exclude some folders from the indexing (at least the "spam" folder!) but it seems there is no option for that in the standard configurations.   I'm trying to change the default install path in Windows 7 Pro x64. I'm in the Registry Editor and in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion key. I know I need to change ProgramFilesDir and ProgramFilesDir (x86). What I'm not sure about is the CommonFilesDir, CommonFilesDir (x86) and the ProgramW6432Dir. Do I need to or should I change these values to reflect the new program files directory I'm using? I tried Googling ProgramW6432Dir and didn't get much help.

• Install graphics card hardware drivers via remote desktop in Windows 7

  I come across the same problem over and over. I working on computer that is remote and it is missing graphics card drivers. Just has some default drivers that have limited resolution. I would like to install program that will read the chipset on graphics card and tell me the values so I can go on manufacturer website and download the appropriate drivers. Windows 7 or Windows XP application would do, if you know about any.
