  • Pyjamas & JavaScript: Too much recursion

    - by Wraith
I'm doing a Pyjamas example and get this error: TodoApp InternalError: too much recursion Has anyone else encountered this? Some articles around the web recommend adjusting the C++ code of your browser to fix it, but that doesn't seem safe to me.

  • Database connection via Hibernate in servlets

    - by blackliteon
What is the best place in servlet for Hibernate code that returns HibernateSessionFactory ? I saw many examples: ones put db connection in service methods. Others - use smth like HibernateUtil (Singleton) that returns HibernateSessionFactory. I don't know is it safe to use HibernateUtil in multithreaded Servlets ?

  • HTML Encoding with ASP.NET

    - by Corin
I am currently html encoding all user entered text before inserting/updating a db table record. The problem is that on any subsequent updates, the previously encoded string is reencoded. This endless loop is starting to eat up alot of column space in my tables. I am using parameterized queries for all sql statements but am wondering would it be safe to just let the .NET Framework handle this part without the HTML Encoding?

  • How to find out if an object is of <type> or a decendant of <type>

    - by Vaccano
I have the following code: foreach (var control in this.Controls) { } I want to do something like control.Hide() in there. But the items in the this.Controls collection are not of type Control (they are Object). I can't seem to remember the safe way to cast this to call hide if it is really of type Control and do nothing otherwise. (I am a transplanted delphi programmer and I keep thinking something like control is Control.)

  • Looking for Programming Language that allows you to change true and false.

    - by Maushu
For my curiosity sake I'm looking for a dynamic object oriented language that allows you to change true to false and vice versa. Something like this: true = false, false = true; This should also affect any conditional statements, therefore 42 == 42 should return False. Basically, with this premise, nothing in the language would be safe from the programmer. Is there any language like this?

  • Load a 6 MB binary file in a SQL Server 2005 VARBINARY(MAX) column using ADO/VC++?

    - by Feroz Khan
    How to load a binary file(.bin) of size 6 MB in a varbinary(MAX) column of SQL Server 2005 database using ADO in a VC++ application. This is the code I am using to load the file which I used to load a .bmp file: BOOL CSaveView::PutECGInDB(CString strFilePath, FieldPtr pFileData) { //Open File CFile fileImage; CFileStatus fileStatus; fileImage.Open(strFilePath,CFile::modeRead); fileImage.GetStatus(fileStatus); //Alocating memory for data ULONG nBytes = (ULONG)fileStatus.m_size; HGLOBAL hGlobal = GlobalAlloc(GPTR,nBytes); LPVOID lpData = GlobalLock(hGlobal); //Putting data into file fileImage.Read(lpData,nBytes); HRESULT hr; _variant_t varChunk; long lngOffset = 0; UCHAR chData; SAFEARRAY FAR *psa = NULL; SAFEARRAYBOUND rgsabound[1]; try { //Create a safe array to store the BYTES rgsabound[0].lLbound = 0; rgsabound[0].cElements = nBytes; psa = SafeArrayCreate(VT_UI1,1,rgsabound); while(lngOffset<(long)nBytes) { chData = ((UCHAR*)lpData)[lngOffset]; hr = SafeArrayPutElement(psa,&lngOffset,&chData); if(hr != S_OK) { return false; } lngOffset++; } lngOffset = 0; //Assign the safe array to a varient varChunk.vt = VT_ARRAY|VT_UI1; varChunk.parray = psa; hr = pFileData->AppendChunk(varChunk); if(hr != S_OK) { return false; } } catch(_com_error &e) { //get info from _com_error _bstr_t bstrSource(e.Source()); _bstr_t bstrDescription(e.Description()); _bstr_t bstrErrorMessage(e.ErrorMessage()); _bstr_t bstrErrorCode(e.Error()); TRACE("Exception thrown for classes generated by #import"); TRACE("\tCode= %08lx\n",(LPCSTR)bstrErrorCode); TRACE("\tCode Meaning = %s\n",(LPCSTR)bstrErrorMessage); TRACE("\tSource = %s\n",(LPCSTR)bstrSource); TRACE("\tDescription = %s\n",(LPCSTR)bstrDescription); } catch(...) { TRACE("***Unhandle Exception***"); } //Free Memory GlobalUnlock(lpData); return true; } But when I read the same file using Getchunk function it gives me all 0s but the size of the file I get is same as the one uploaded. Your help will be highly appreciated.

  • map<int,int> default values

    - by Bill Kotsias
Hello. I have this : std::map<int,int> mapy; ++mapy[5]; Is it safe to assume that mapy[5] will always be 1? I mean, will mapy[5] always get the default value of 0 before '++', even if not explicitly declared, as in my code? Cheers

  • rawurlencode() and urlencode() not working in CodeIgniter

    - by Keith Chason
I am trying to encode a string into a safe url for generic purposes, and neither rawurlencode() nor urlencode() work when using CodeIgniter. I have used them and they work pefectly fine with straight PHP, but for whatever reason, it doesn't work. I haven't been able to find any others with this problem and thus no solution. Code: <a href="/search/degree/<?=rawurlencode($row->degree)?>" class="element_link"><?=$row->degree?></a>

  • Can the same DLL data be shared by 2 different processes ?

    - by Jelly Amma
I have two different C# applications that are running at the same time. I would like both of them to be able to access the same "instance" of a DLL (also in C#). The DLL holds some data that I'd like to return to whichever of the two applications is asking for it. My DLL is thread-safe so I was hoping this would be possible but I'm not sure how. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

  • Boost BGL thread safety

    - by Budzoli
Hi! I'd like multiple threads to use the dijkstra_shortest_paths and astar_search functions of the BGL, and then read the property maps of the result vertices and edges. I'm wondering wether I should use mutexes to ensure thread-safety. So here are my questions: 1., Are the dijkstra_shortest_paths and astar_search functions of the Boost.Graph thread safe? 2., If I only try to read the property maps of the graph from multiple threads, do I need to worry about thread safety?

  • What's the best way to identify subdomains by PHP dynamically?

    - by kavoir.com
I have configured the wildcard DNS of *.mydomain.com and it's all working properly. My question is which of these should I rely on identifying client subdomain requests? $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"] $_SERVER["SCRIPT_URI"] They all seem to contain the subdomain part I want but after reading this article by Chris: http://shiflett.org/blog/2005/feb/more-on-filtering-input-and-escaping-output, I'm lost at see and there appears to be no safe way to do this? Any idea on accomplishing this task securely?

  • Warning: newtype `CInt' is used in an FFI declaration,

    - by vivian
When building gtk2hs-buildtools with ghc 7.4.2, I get the following warning: c2hs/toplevel/C2HSConfig.hs:110:1: Warning: newtype `CInt' is used in an FFI declaration, but its constructor is not in scope. This will become an error in GHC 7.6.1. When checking declaration: foreign import ccall safe "static bitfield_direction" bitfield_direction :: CInt I get similar warnings with FFI calls, even though I have import Foreign.C.Types(CInt). What is the correct way of getting rid of this warning?

  • Safest communication method between applications on same machine

    - by Radu
What is the safest communication method between two applications on the same machine, both Java and C/C++ clients with a Java server. Are SSL sockets safe enough or they can be broken by "man in the middle" attacks? As i saw in the documentation and code samples, JSSE retrieves private/public keys and certificates from keystore files which a malicious user can see. The only thing that you can hide in the code is the password used to unlock the keystores. Can hackers retrieve that password?

  • In a web farm environment, should we base the system date/time to the web servers or the database se

    - by leypascua
Assuming there are a number of load-balanced web servers in a web farm, is it safe to use DateTime. Now in the application code for getting the system date/time or should we leave this responsibility to the database server? Would there be a chance that machine date/time settings on all servers in the webfarm are out of sync? If date/time will be the responsible of the DBMS, how will this strategy work if we have load-balanced replicated DBs?

  • GWT - Reusing Callback Class

    - by moorsu
My custom callback class implements AsyncCallback (like MyAsyncCallback implements AsyncCallback) and planning use single instance of MyAsyncCallback for multiple rpc method executions. Is this approach safe?. Or should have to create new instance of MyAsyncCallback for every interaction from browser to server?. I am kind of tired of seeing so many anonymous AsyncCallback code blocks. Thanks for your input

  • Check for live Data Source Name Before proceeding

    - by n_kips
Would it be ok to get a CF app to check for a valid database before proceeding to process that request? This is because there may be instances where the database server may be down or being upgraded, hence an error comes when a db dependant request is made. If there is no connection to the db server, the user can be safely redirected to a safe page. Or can cfcatch work? How can this check be done? Thank you.
