  • Memory leak, again!

    - by Dave
A couple of weeks ago I was having trouble with memory leaks associated with a ContextMenuStrip. That problem was fixed. See that question here Now I'm having similar issues with ToolStrip controls. As in the previous problem, I'm creating a large number of UserControls and adding them to a FlowLayoutPanel. Each control creates a ToolStrip for itself in its constructor. When a control is removed from the FlowLayoutPanel (the only reference to the control), it seems memory for the ToolStrip is not being released. However when I comment out the code that creates the ToolStrip the memory leak doesn't happen. Is this the same sort of issue as the previous one - I need to set the ToolStrip to null? I don't see how that could be since this time the control is creating the strip itself, and all the button events etc are handled inside it. So shouldn't everything be GC'd when the control is no longer referenced? EDIT: As to the comments, the thing I don't understand is originally I was "making" my own toolstrip out of a panel and some labels. The labels were used as buttons. No memory leaks occurred this way. The only thing I've changed is using a proper ToolStrip with proper buttons in place of the panel, but all the event handlers are wired the same way. So why is it now leaking memory?

  • Sencha touch 2/ app workflow with navigation view

    - by eplatonov
I am trying to understand how can I implement the same functionality which provides navigation view in sencha touch 2, but .... Each item of the 'Ext.NavigationView' component should have it's own unique set of 'navigationBar' elements. I mean set of buttons, for example. I know that I can do something like this: this.getMain().getNavigationBar().rightBox.removeAll(); this.getMain().getNavigationBar().rightBox.add(this.getSettingButton()); //where 'getSettingButton' predefined by me a button And do this action each time when 'push' event happens (clear 'navigationBar' and add appropriate set of buttons) Of course, I even can implement 'Ext.Panel' with 'layout: card' and set of 'Ext.panel' elements in the 'items' property, each of which will be have unique 'toolbar'. To control the behavior I can use 'setActiveItem' method. But, I think each of these approaches is a bit weird, isn't it? I expected that would be much more natural approach to implement it. Most likely I don't know what I need. Confirm my doubts. What is the best way to do it.

  • How to get a handle to all JCheckBox objects in order to loop?

    - by EmmyS
I'm very new to Java and am having some issues looping through JCheckBoxes on a UI. The idea is that I have a bunch of checkboxes (not in a group because more than one can be selected.) When I click a JButton, I want to build a string containing the text from each selected checkbox. The issue I'm having is that our instructor told us that the checkboxes need to be created via a method, which means (see code below) that there isn't a discrete instance name for each checkbox. If there were, I could say something like if(checkBox1.isSelected()) { myString.append(checkBox.getText()); } That would repeat for checkBox2, checkBox3, and so on. But the method provided to us for adding checkboxes to a panel looks like this: public class CheckBoxPanel extends JPanel { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public CheckBoxPanel(String title, String... options) { setBorder(BorderFactory.createTitledBorder(BorderFactory .createEtchedBorder(), title)); setLayout(new BoxLayout(this, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); // make one checkbox for each option for (String option : options) { JCheckBox b = new JCheckBox(option); b.setActionCommand(option); add(b); } } } This is called like this: toppingPanel = new CheckBoxPanel("Each Topping $1.50", "Tomato", "Green Pepper", "Black Olives", "Mushrooms", "Extra Cheese", "Pepperoni", "Sausage"); So I now have a panel that contains a border with the title "Each Topping $1.50", and 7 visible checkboxes. What I need to do is get a list of all the selected toppings. We are not supposed to use an ActionListener for each checkbox, but rather get the list when a button is clicked. I'm feeling really clueless here, but I just can't figure out how to get the isSelected property of the checkboxes when the individual checkboxes don't have instance names. Ideally I'd like to somehow add all the checkboxes to an array and loop through the array in the button's action listener to determine which ones are checked, but if I have to check each one individually I will. I just can't figure out how to refer to an individual checkbox when they've been created dynamically.

  • Suggested (simple) approach for drawing large numbers of visual elements in WPF?

    - by Ender
I'm writing an interface that features a large (~50000px width) "canvas"-type area that is used to display a lot of data in a fairly novel way. This involves lots of lines, rectangles, and text. The user can scroll around to explore the entire canvas. At the moment I'm just using a standard Canvas panel with various Shapes placed on it. This is nice and easy to do: construct a shape, assign some coordinates, and attach it to the Canvas. Unfortunately, it's pretty slow (to construct the children, not to do the actual rendering). I've looked into some alternatives, it's a bit intimidating. I don't need anything fancy - just the ability to efficiently construct and place objects in a coordinate plane. If all I get are lines, colored rectangles, and text, I'll be happy. Do I need Geometry instances inside of Geometry Groups inside of GeometryDrawings inside of some Panel container? Note: I'd like to include text and graphics (i.e. colored rectangles) in the same space, if possible.

  • Dealing with expired session for a partially filled form?

    - by aaronls
I have a large webform, and would like to prompt the user to login if their session expires, or have them login when they submit the form. It seems that having them login when they submit the form creates alot of challenges because they get redirected to the login page and then the postback data for the original form submission is lost. So I'm thinking about how to prompt them to login asynchrounsly when the session expires. So that they stay on the original form page, have a panel appear telling them the session has expired and they need to login, it submits the login asynchronously, the login panel disapears, and the user is still on the original partially filled form and can submit it. Is this easily doable using the existing ASP.NET Membership controls? When they submit the form will I need to worry about the session key? I mean, I am wondering if the session key the form submits will be the original one from before the session expired which won't match the new one generated after logging in again asynchrounously(I still do not understand the details of how ASP.NET tracks authentication/session IDs). Edit: Yes I am actually concerned about authentication expiration. The user must be authenticated for the submitted data to be considered valid.

  • What is the relation between ContentPane and JPanel?

    - by Roman
I found one example in which buttons are added to panels (instances of JPanel) then panels are added to the the containers (instances generated by getContentPane) and then containers are, by the construction, included into the JFrame (the windows). I tried two things: I got rid of the containers. In more details, I added buttons to a panel (instance of JPanel) and then I added the panel to the windows (instance of JFrame). It worked fine. I got rid of the panels. In more details, I added buttons directly to the container and then I added the container to the window (instance of JFrame). So, I do not understand two things. Why do we have two competing mechanism to do the same things. What is the reason to use containers in combination with the panels (JPanel)? (For example, what for we include buttons in JPanels and then we include JPanels in the Containers). Can we include JPanel in JPanel? Can we include a container in container?

  • JQuery Dragging Outside Parent

    - by Andy
I'm using JQuery's draggable(); to make li elements draggable. The only problem is when the element is dragged outside its parent, it doesn't show up. That is, it doesn't leave the confines of its parent div. An example is here: http://imgur.com/N2N1L.png - it's as if the z-index for everything else has greater priority (and the element slides under everything). Here's the code: $('.photoList li').draggable({ distance: 20, snap: theVoteBar, revert: true, containment: 'document' }); And the li elements are placed in DIVs like this: <div class="coda-slider preload" id="coda-slider-1"> <div class="panel"> <div class="panel-wrapper"> <h2 class="title" style="display:none;">Page 1</h2> <ul class="photoList"> <li> <img class="ui-widget-content" src="photos/1.jpg" style="width:100px;height:100px;" /> </li> </ul> </div> </div> I'm positive the problem is it won't leave its parent container, but I'm not sure what to do to get it out. Any direction or help would be appreciated GREATLY!

  • asp.net ajax + http module fails

    - by Sri Kumar
    Hi, I am trying my hands on asp.net+ajax+httpmodule. My Form <form id="LoginForm" runat="server"> <asp:ScriptManager ID="LoginScriptMgr" runat="server"></asp:ScriptManager> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="LoginPanel" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblLoginHeader" Text="Login" runat="server"></asp:Label> <asp:TextBox ID="txtUserName" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <asp:TextBox ID="txtPassword" runat="server" TextMode="Password"></asp:TextBox> <asp:Button ID="btnLogin" Text="Login" runat="server" OnClick="Login" /> <asp:Label ID="lblLoginStatus" runat="server" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </form> C# Code protected void Login(object sender, EventArgs e) { lblLoginStatus.Text = "Login Successful"; } Web.config <httpModules> <add name="TimeModule" type="MyWebPortal.App_Code.TimeModule,App_Code"/> </httpModules> HTTP Module public class TimeModule : IHttpModule { private HttpApplication oApps = null; public void Dispose() { } public void Init(System.Web.HttpApplication context) { oApps = context; context.PreSendRequestContent += new EventHandler (context_PreSendRequestContent); } void context_PreSendRequestContent(object sender, EventArgs e) { string message = "&lt;!-- This page is being processed at " + System.DateTime.Now.ToString() + " -->"; oApps.Context.Response.Output.Write(message); } } When i remove the TimeModule from Web.config my ajax works. If add the TimeModule then the label doesn't show the message "Login Successful". Removing the ajax panel and with httpmodule available the label shows the message. So, how ajax panel was related to httpmodules?

  • The Classic jQuery Tabs with Bing Maps Issue

    - by Justin
Hello, I know that there are multiple issues with jQuery Tabs and using Maps. And I have seen the multiple fixes and I am half-way there. But I have the most obscure issue and hoping that someone might understand why. This is my code for the tabs $("#contactTabs").tabs({ spinner: 'Loading <img src="../images/icons/ajax-loader.gif" />' }); $('#contactTabs').bind('tabsshow', function(event, ui) { if (ui.panel.id == "Map") { GetMap(); } }); Which currently does not work. But I was doing some testing and added in an ALERT() to see if the "GetMap()" was even attempting to be loaded... so this was the code that I tested with, and it works just fine. $("#contactTabs").tabs({ spinner: 'Loading <img src="../images/icons/ajax-loader.gif" />' }); $('#contactTabs').bind('tabsshow', function(event, ui) { if (ui.panel.id == "Map") { alert("load map"); GetMap(); } }); So I haven't a clue why adding the ALERT() causes the map to load and removing the ALERT just doesn't load the map at all. Is there any clarification that someone can give me on this issue? Thank you in advance!

  • JQuery UI Tabs - replace tab and contents

    - by Tauren
What is the best way to replace the currently selected tab and its contents? The content is dynamically generated with jquery, not loaded via a URL. I need to do this from outside of any tab code or tab event handler (show, add, etc.). There is a link elsewhere on the page that should do the following when clicked: Change the tab's title Change the tab's className Clear out all elements of the tabcontent div Change the tabcontent div's className Generate new content inside the tabcontent div Note that the only reference this link's click() handler has is to the JQuery tabs object ($Tabs). I can get the selected tab with $Tabs.tabs('option','selected'). But how can I get a reference to the selected tab's tab and panel? Inside of a jquery tab handler (show, add, etc.), I have access to ui.tab and ui.panel, but is there a way to get them from a tabs option? Would it be better to simply remove the currently selected tab and then add a new tab in the same index location? I'd have to put the code to generate the tab content into the add() handler then I suppose.

  • Flex Modules vs RSL

    - by nil
Hi, I'm a little bit confused about when is better to use Flex Modules or RSL libriaries (in Flex 3.5). My goal is split my project in several unit projects, so I can test and work separately. Let's assume I have a Customer app and Vendor app. I also have a front-end panel with two buttons. Each button launches Customer app or Vendor app. These applications make different things. They share some .as functions and common components, too. I understand that if I make a main project (for user login and to show a first panel) and two modules (customer, vendor) I must have all that components in my Eclipse project, isn't it? Instead of doing modules, should I create SWC for Vendor and other for Customer app and call from main app by using RSL? So, which option is more suitable? What do you advise me? Which are the trade-offs of each option? On the other side, this flex application is integrated with Java through Blaze and ibatis for persistence managment, and hold by a web apache server. I considered also to create independent war files to keep this indpendence, but I thought this do not optimize flex code. I'm right? Thank you. Nil

  • Prevent default on a click within a JQuery tabs in Google Chrome.

    - by Sydney
I would like to prevent the default behaviour of a click on a link. I tried the return false; also javascript:void(0); in the href attribute but it doesn’t seem to work. It works fine in Firefox, but not in Chrome and IE. I have a single tab that loads via AJAX the content which is a simple link. <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("#tabs").tabs({ ajaxOptions: { error: function(xhr, status, index, anchor) { $(anchor.hash).html("Couldn't load this tab. We'll try to fix this as soon as possible. If this wouldn't be a demo."); }, success: function() { alert('hello'); $('#lk').click(function() { alert('Click Me'); return false; }); } }, load: function(event, ui) { $('a', ui.panel).click(function() { $(ui.panel).load(this.href); return false; }); } }); }); </script> <body> <div id="tabs"> <ul> <li><a href="linkChild.htm">Link</a></li> </ul> </div> </body> The content of linkChild.htm is <a href="javascript:void(0)" id="lk">Click Me</a> So basically when the tab content is loaded with success, a click event is attached to the link “lk”. When I click on the link, the alert is displayed but then link disappears. I check the HTML and the element is actually removed from the DOM.

  • ASP.NET: ModalPopupExtender prevents button click event from firing

    - by C. Griffin
    Here is what I'm trying to do: Click a button on my page, which in turn makes (2) things happen: Display a ModalPopup to prevent the user from pressing any buttons or changing values Call my code behind method, hiding the ModalPopup when finished Here is the ASP markup: <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel2" runat="server" ChildrenAsTriggers="true" UpdateMode="Always"> <Triggers> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnSaveData" EventName="Click" /> </Triggers> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Panel ID="pnlHidden" runat="server" style="display: none;"> <div> <h1>Saving...</h1> </div> </asp:Panel> <cc1:ModalPopupExtender ID="modalPopup" BackgroundCssClass="modalBackground" runat="server" TargetControlID="btnSaveData" PopupControlID="pnlHidden"> </cc1:ModalPopupExtender> <asp:Button ID="btnSaveData" runat="server" Text="Save Data" OnClick="btnSaveData_Click" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> Now, here is my code behind C# code: protected void btnSaveData_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { UpdateUserData(GetLoggedInUser()); modalPopup.Enabled = false; } Why doesn't this work? The ModalPopup displays perfectly, but the btnSaveData_Click event NEVER fires.

  • Growing user control not updating

    - by user328259
I am developing in C# and .Net 2.0. I have a user control that draws cells (columnar) depending upon the maximum number of cells. There are some drawing routines that generate the necessary cells. There is a property NumberOfCells that adjust the height of this control; CELLHEIGHT_CONSTANT * NumberOfCells. The OnPaint() method is overridden (code that draws the Number of cells). There is another user control that contains a panel which contains the userControl1 from above. There is a property NumberCells that changes userControl1's NumberOfCells. UserControl2 is then placed on a windows form. On that form there is a NumericUpDown control (only increments from 1). When the user increments by 1, I adjust the VerticalScroll.Maximum by 1 as well. Everything works well and good BUT when I increment once, the panel updates fine (inserts a vertical scrolll when necessary) but cells are not being added! I've tried Invalidating on userControl2 AND on the form but nothing seems to draw the newly added cells. Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you in advance. Lawrence

  • Text box loses focus when DIV is hovered

    - by Konoplianko
Hello. I have a problem: When I enter a text into suggestion text box, popup panel appears. But when user places mouse over this popup panel with suggestions - text box loses focus. What should I do to prevent losing focus ? Example which have the same behaviour: http://demo.raibledesigns.com/gwt-autocomplete/ Thanks for any help. Update 1 SuggestionMenu which is being shown is extending MenuBar which sets focus for all menu items. void itemOver(MenuItem item, boolean focus) { if (item == null) { // Don't clear selection if the currently selected item's menu is showing. if ((selectedItem != null) && (shownChildMenu == selectedItem.getSubMenu())) { return; } } // Style the item selected when the mouse enters. selectItem(item); if (focus) { focus(); } // If child menus are being shown, or this menu is itself // a child menu, automatically show an item's child menu // when the mouse enters. if (item != null) { if ((shownChildMenu != null) || (parentMenu != null) || autoOpen) { doItemAction(item, false); } } } It's clear that i cant fix loosing focus. Now question is - how to make on pressing backspace or any key to focus on edit box? Thanks in advance

  • divert asp.net child controls

    - by Eric
Hi Folks, I am trying to create an asp.net custom control that acts as a hosting container for any other controls, similar to the existing ‘Panel’ control. Basically, I need to build a web control that groups a bunch of other controls. It will consist of a header and a body pane, similar to a normal window in desktop application. The header will contain some simple text and some JavaScript driven code that shows/hides the body pane. The body pane simply hosts any number of other controls. +------------------------------------------------------+ | User Details Show/Hide | +------------------------------------------------------+ | Name: [Eric ] | | Address: [Some where] | | Date of Birth: [01/01/1980] | | | | (any other fields goes on) | | | | | +------------------------------------------------------+ Ideally I want to create a control that packs the whole thing together, so at design time I could use the following markup. <myCtl:SuperContainer runat=”server” Title=”User Details”> <asp:label id=”lblName” runat=”server” text=”Name:”/> <asp:textbox id=”txtName” runat=”server”/> <asp:label id=”lblDOB” runat=”server” text=”Date of Birth:”/> <asp:textbox id=”txtDOB” runat=”server”/> (…other controls definition…) </myCtl:SuperContainer> I plan to include two panels in my control, one for the header and another one for the body, but as you can see, the key issue is to find a way to ‘divert’ the child controls that are defined in the markup to the body panel, instead of the default parent container. I feel it can be some how simply override (manipulate) the control property, but don’t know how to properly do so. Can any one give some idea about how to implement this ‘SuperContainer’ control? Many thank, Eric

  • How do I make my program run with different privileges at Windows 7 startup?

    - by iira
Hi, I am trying to add my program run in Windows 7 startup, but it doesn't work. My program has an embedded UAC manifest. My current way is by adding a string value at HKCU..\Run. I found a manual solution for Vista from http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprosecurity/thread/81c3c1f2-0169-493a-8f87-d300ea708ecf Click Start, right click on Computer and choose “Manage”. Click “Task Scheduler” on the left panel. Click “Create Task” on the right panel. Type a name for the task. Check “Run with highest privileges”. Click Actions tab. Click “New…”. Browse to the program in the “Program/script” box. Click OK. On desktop, right click, choose New and click “Shortcut”. In the box type: schtasks.exe /run /tn TaskName where TaskName is the name of task you put in on the basics tab and click next. Type a name for the shortcut and click Finish. Additionally, you need to run the saved scheduled task shortcut to run the program instead of running the application shortcut to ignore the IAC prompt. When startup the system will run the program via the original shortcut. Therefore you need to change the location to run the saved task. Please: Open Regedit. Find the entry of the startup item in Registry. It will be stored in one of the following branches. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_USERS.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Double-click on the correct key, change the path to the saved scheduled task you created. Is there any free code to add item with privileges option in scheduled task? I haven't found the free one in torry.net. Thanks a lot.

  • Creating a json array and json items with jquery?

    - by user246114
Hi, I made a simple javascript class like this: function Horse() { this.color = 'brown'; this.speed = 'somewhat slow'; } I attached a few instances to some elements, like this: $("#horse1").data('d', new Horse()); $("#horse2").data('d', new Horse()); $("#horse3").data('d', new Horse()); now I want to create a JSON array with a JSON representation of each horse object. So I'm doing this: // How do I create an empty JSON array here?: var myJsonArray = ?; var children = $("#horses").children(); for (var i = 0, m = children.size(); i < m; i++) { var panel = children[i]; var horse = $(panel).data('h'); // And how do I create a JSON rep of my horse here? var myJsonHorse = new JsonHorse(?); // Finally, how do I add it to the json array? myJsonArray.push(myJsonHorse); } yeah my end goal is to have a single json array of all the horses after iterating over all the children - not sure if this should be done in plain javascript or in jquery? Thanks

  • Dealing with expired authentication for a partially filled form?

    - by sharad
i have asp.net web application in which i need to create form dynamically depend upon table which user selected.however,i created form dynamically with it's control like text box, drop downlist etc. but not able to access those controls at particular button click event. My form scenario is like this: i have dropdownlist in which i display list of tables, button control say display( on click event which i redirect page with some addition in querystring so that at page init it dynamically genrate controls) and another button control which used to access this controls value say Submit and store in database. This is my code: At Display button Click event: Response.Redirect("dynamic_main.aspx?mode=edit&tablename=" + CMBTableList.SelectedItem.ToString()); This is code For page.Init level if (Request.QueryString["mode"] != null) { if (Request.QueryString["mode"].ToString() == "edit") { Session["tablename"] = Request.QueryString["tablename"].ToString(); // if (Session["tablename"].ToString() == CMBTableList.SelectedItem.ToString()) //{ createcontrol(Session["tablename"].ToString()); // } } } i have used createcontrol() which genrate controls Code For Submit Button: string[] contid=controlid.Value.Split(','); MasterPage ctl00 = FindControl("ctl00") as MasterPage; ContentPlaceHolder cplacehld = ctl00.FindControl("ContentPlaceHolder2") as ContentPlaceHolder; Panel panel1 = cplacehld.FindControl("plnall") as Panel; Table tabl1 = panel1.FindControl("id1") as Table; foreach (string sin in contid) { string splitcvalu = sin.Split('_')[0].ToString(); ControlsAccess contaccess = new ControlsAccess(); if (splitcvalu.ToString() == "txt") { TextBox txt = (TextBox)tabl1.FindControl(sin.ToString()); //TextBox txt = cplacehld.FindControl(sin.ToString()) as TextBox; val = txt.ID; } else { DropDownList DDL = cplacehld.FindControl(sin.ToString()) as DropDownList; } } Here i am no able to access this textbox or drop downlist.i am getting id of particular control from hidden field controlid in which i have stored it during genrating controls. i have used findcontrol() it works in case of finding masterpage, contentplaceholder, table etc. but in case of textbox or other control it doesnt work it shows it returns null. • TabHost disappears after locking the phone and reopening it:

    - by Emil Adz
    I have a weird issue with my TabHost in my FragmentActivity that contains a ViewPager. The problem is that when I close my phone (press the power button) while I use my application, and then I turn back the phone and my application gets reopened, at this point my TabHost is missing. So the closing of my phone is causes the TabHost to disappear. My guess would be that I need to save my tabHost state in the saveInstanceState object, and restore it in onResume I only have no idea how it's done. here is my code for the FragmentActivity: public class TabsViewPagerFragmentActivity extends FragmentActivity implements ViewPager.OnPageChangeListener, TabHost.OnTabChangeListener { static final String TAG = TabsViewPagerFragmentActivity.class.getSimpleName();
