  • Is it possible to avoid Focus on SplitContainer?

    The WinForm SplitContainer gets the focus when it's dragged or clicked, while the Splitter does not. The side-effect of this, is that dragging a SplitContainer bar fires Leave/Validate on other controls, and I need to avoid this. I already tried setting TabStop and CausesValidation to False, but with no success. Is there a way to stop the SplitContainer from getting focused? (not a big deal, I can still use the old Splitter, but I lose some nice VS properties...)

  • Is it possible to "intercept" a 3rd party library's "WriteFile" operation

    This is likely a long shot, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I'm using a document management system's API. They provide a "WriteFile" method to save a given document to disk. However, the library does not have a way to simply read a document into memory. My only option, it seems, is to write to disk, then read it back in again. I'm wondering if there is a better way to work around this obvious limitation. Thanks in advance!

  • Possible defect with jQuery ':checked' selector (finding checked checkbox when there are none)

    Found a strange thing. The following code is supposed to set a default value for a UI element based on whether one of a group of checkboxes (all having attribute name="privacy") is checked (in say, a form postback). If there is no value in the HTML sent by the server (the form is not a postback), the default value should be firstMenuItemKey. Otherwise, it should be the one checked in the underlying HTML. However, while this works on the first call to the URL that includes the form, a refresh of the page will set the value of defaultPrivacyValue to one of the privacy checkboxes'. I've checked that the server isn't checking the checkbox before the script runs (it's not). I've also checked whether somewhere else in the script is checking the checkbox (it's not). var defaultPrivacyValue = firstMenuItemKey; $('input[name=privacy]:checked').each(function() { defaultPrivacyValue = $(this).next().find('.name').text(); }); selectMenuItem(defaultPrivacyValue); When I chaged the selector to 'input[name=privacy][checked=checked]' it worked as expected. Is this a defect in the jQuery implementation of DOM retrieval based on the ':checked' selector???? I'm using jQuery 1.4.2. Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Installing Sphinx on App Engine - possible?

    Following up on my last year's question on documentation, I now want to get started and try out Python-based Sphinx for putting together the developer documentation for a PHP CMS I've been working on. Instead of setting up Python locally on my workstation, I would like to run it on a publicly accessible web server from the start. All the web hosting packages I have access to run on the LAMP stack, and I'm reluctant to buy Python-based hosting. I am very interested in the Google App Engine, the free quotas they provide will do for me a hundred times over, and even if not, their pricing looks very reasonable. Now I have zero knowledge of Python - getting Sphinx to work would be my first contact with it - and very little time. As far as I understand, the platform and python libraries the App Engine provides are very compatible to a standard Python library but not identical. So my question is: Can Sphinx run on App Engine at all? Is installing Sphinx on the App Engine as straightforward as if I would install it on top of a normal Python installation? Or will the App Engine's environment require tweaking of the source code that I can't perform in reasonable time with my current level of Python? Should I be installing Sphinx on a local server and a "normal" Python stack instead first? Does anybody know any helpful How-to's, tutorials or other resources for this?

    This may be a long shot question.. I am working on an application that is based on JSP/Javascript only (without a Web framework!) Is there a way to have depencency injection for JSP beans? By jsp beans I mean beans defined like this <jsp:useBean id="cart" scope="session" class="session.Carts" /> Is there a way/library/hack to intercept the bean creation so that when "cart" is referenced for the first time, some some of injection takes place? Can I define somewhere a "listener" for JSP beans (like you can do for JSF beans for example)? I am free to do anything I want in the back-end, but I cannot add a web framework in the front-end (Don't ask!)

  • possible to recreate xml out of ActionScript?

    Hi, I got stuck with an SWF which has ActionScript in it and should use some xml. The problem is, I cannot edit the SWF by decompiling it and compile it again, it simply doesn't work... Adobe Flash CS4 rebuilds the thing, but after I press CTRL+ENTER I get a lot of runtime errors (probably something to do with AS <- AS2 <- AS3 and don't know how to fix that). So the question is: can I reconstruct how the xml should look like? I am able to view all the actionscript code with Flash Decompiler Gold and ain't gettin much smarter. Maybe I could post the code if someone desire it. thanks

We can assure that C is a number that is part of the N-primes or not. Whichever will work best. Thus: X mod C = Z We have Z and C and we know that X was a product of N-primes, where N is restricted lets say first 100 primes. Is there anyway we can get back X?

    We are working to reduce the latency and increase the performance of a process written in Java that consumes data (xml strings) from a socket via the readLine() method of the BufferedReader class. The data is delimited by the end of line separater (\n), and each line can be of a variable length (6KBits - 32KBits). Our code looks like: Socket sock = connection; InputStream in = sock.getInputStream(); BufferedReader inputReader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(in)); ... do { String input = inputReader.readLine(); // Executor call to parse the input thread in a seperate thread }while(true) So I have a couple of questions: Will the inputReader.readLine() method return as soon as it hits the \n character or will it wait till the buffer is full? Is there a faster of picking up data from the socket than using a BufferedReader? What happens when the size of the input string is smaller than the size of the Socket's receive buffer? What happens when the size of the input string is bigger than the size of the Socket's receive buffer? I am getting to grips (slowly) with Java's IO libraries, so any pointers are much appreciated. And then I use UIImageJPEGRepresentation(image,0.0) to get the NSData of that image. Still its a little bit high in size around 100kb. when I send it over the network. Can I reduce it further. I'm also going to be heavily dealing with java soon and I don't want to install a seperate version of Eclipse just to get the java features as I'll be switching between C-C++-ADA-Java quite often so I'd wont the one IDE to support all languages. At the moment I've got C/C++ and Ada working together (CDT + GNAT workbench). How can I get the Eclipse Java IDE with out installing eclipse from scratch again. Thanks

  • .NET Framework - Possible memory-leaky classes?

    Just the other day I was investigating a memory leak that was ballooning the app from ~50MB to ~130MB in under two minutes. Turns out that the problem was with the ConcurrentQueue class. Internally, the class stores a linked list of arrays. When an item is dequeued from the ConcurrentQueue, the index in the array is bumped, but the item remains in the array (i.e. it's not set to null). The entire array node is dropped after enough enqueues/dequeues, so it's not technically a leak, but if storing only a few large objects in the ConcurrentQueue, this can get out of hand fast. The documentation makes no note of this danger. I was wondering what other potential memory pitfalls are in the Base Class Library? I know about the Substring one (that is, if you call substring and just hold onto the result, the whole string will still be in memory). Any others you've encountered?
