  • How to reconnect VPN automatically after sleep/hibernate on Vista/7?

    I'm using Win 7's built-in VPN client but every time I put my computer to sleep / hibernate mode and then wake it up again, the connection is lost and I need to reconnect manually. Is there any way to automate it? Wireless connections have a nice little checkbox ("automatically connect when this network is in range") but I couldn't find anything similar for VPN connections. Task scheduler maybe?

  • Encrypt uploaded pdf files with mcrypt and php

    I'm currently set up with a CentOS box that utilizes mcrypt to encrypt/decrypt data to/from the database. In my haste, I forgot that I also need a solution to encrypt files (primarily pdf, with a xls and txt file here and there). Is there a way to utilize mcrypt to encrypt uploaded pdf files? I understand the possibility of file_get_contents() with txt; is a similar solution available for other formats? Thanks!

    Hitachi DFT hangs (it gets all the way to "Loading DFT" and hangs with a blinking cursor) when I use it on various computers (the latest computer to hang being a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop) and works on others. What determines when it will hang and when it won't? What similar program can I use (boot CD) that can determine HD health reliably? Thanks!

  • 4 Magento Requests per second = 210 mbit memcache bandwith?

    After searching serverfault for similar questions without success, these are my numbers for one magento instance, running on multiple servers: After varnish about 4 requests per second hit the webservers The magento cache is configured to use one separate memcache server where I'm measuring about 210 Mbit/s bandwith usage. Compared to other projects, magento and non-magento, this number seems way off (as in extremely high). I'd like to get some data to compare to, or even better, if you have any idea what exactly causes this/how to find it and how to improve the situation.

    on windows there are several key maps applications that replaces Caps lock with ESC on a single 'press and relase' and with a Control signal if hold and another key is pressed. Is there any way to do something similar on linux? Ideally on the whole system, but if it is only for X window it is fine too. i'm currently writting scripts with the xautomation package tools. but i guess there is already a better way to do that via configurations.

    Is there a way, from inside the browser, to delete cookies and saved passwords in such a way that the data is unrecoverable (similar to Secure Empty Trash)? I know I can probably track down all the files involved and then manually do this, but I'm curious if there's an easier way. Or maybe browsers already do it out of the box?     I've got a Clariion San and a Solaris 10 server with an emulex HBA. The Thin LUNS are visible in Solaris and I can happily format the raw devices. Unfortunately that's all I can do. All other operations result in I/O errors. I'm running current versions of PowerPath and Solaris is patched as high as it'll go. Anyone have any similar experiences?

    I need to connect to a VPS and I'm running Vista Home Basic. TightVNC and TeamViewer both require access to the VPS first, because they require that the server be set up with TightVNC or TeamViewer. Is there anything similar to Remote Desktop that will allow me to use the IP address and administrator password to the VPS to simply connect, rather than having to have the hosting company set up VNC or TeamViewer on the server first?     In my site I have one folder that does not allow anonymous access. It is set up to use Integrated Windows Authentication as it is on an AD domain. The login works fine in Firefox, Chrome, even Safari, but not IE8. Has anyone encountered this before? I can't seem to find anyone else with a similar issue, except for where the login fails in all browsers of course.

    Hi all, Please redirect me if there is a similar question, but I have an ECS P4VXASD2+ (V5.0) motherboard, which supports a 533 MHz FSB. I want to put in a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz processor (Socket 478) with an FSB of 800 MHz. Would this be possible? Would the FSB of the processor just be limited to 533 MHz? Thanks in advance.

    You've seen it done on sites like basecamphq.com where you would have username.basecamphq.com I'm wanting to do a similar thing, any subdomain is routed through to the same index.php file. so username1.example.com will request /home/some/path/to/www (in here is index.php) and username2.example.com will request the same file I have it working locally, but my server uses cPanel. What would be your guess at the apache conifguration?
