• On demand upload server

  I'm looking for a simple application which will do something like Allow user to sign up for an ftp account -> ask admin for approval -> create ftp account for that user now it doesn't have to be FTP, in fact I would be happy with a web based tool which supported upload via some sort of java applet or something similar. I don't care about what platform it runs on, although if we could avoid PHP that would be cool. Any ideas?

• Windows 8.1 will not sleep after wake up

  I have problem with sleep/screen saver on my new Windows 8.1 machine. It will go to to sleep or start screen saver after start (or restart). But if it goes to sleep (manually or automatically) and I wake it up, it wont start sleep or start screen saver again automatically. I updated chipset and graphic cards drivers.   I've just installed Jenkins-CI on Ubuntu 11.10 as according to the instructions found here, However the service fails to start. • Lenovo remote control media redirect

  On a lenovo ThinkServer RD240 running firmware 1.20 with the latest BNC software, using the remote console to redirect a CD-ROM fails with the error: "CD-ROM redirection is not supported on this platform". Similar error for forwarding an iso image, foppy and USB drive. I tried executing the management console from Ubuntu, Windows 7 and OS X with the exact same error. The question is: What platform does the jViewer console support any kind of media redirection?

As Nexenta is built on Illumos (successor of OpenSolaris) I was thinking what kind of components are involved in their storage metro cluster. I can tell it has to do with tracking bug reports and build problems for specific ports but the acronym is baffling me. It may also be used in the Linux world but Googling for "Linux PR" only yields results related to Public Relations. Apparently FreeBSD has PRs and Linux has Public Relations.

  In Windows XP, installing the software 'Explorer Breadcrumbs' allows me to have an address bar similar to Windows 7 (directories are displayed as buttons that you can click to go to). With Explorer Breadcrumbs in Windows XP, I can open a directory in the address bar in a new window by ctrl-clicking or middle clicking the directory button. Is there a way to have this same functionality in Windows 7?

I wanted to zip them to save disk space, except that zipping gives no space benefit - so trying to reduce the images disk usage using winzip, winrar or 7zip was not successful. Is there any software or algorithm similar to zip to compress image size on hard disk for storage without loosing any image information?

Most of the time it works, but sometimes there is a long delay before the mail arrives (often when another similar script is run).   I need a service which allows me to edit a hosted text file by email. For example: I write an email to [email protected] with subject "ADD LINE 10" and sending it the mail body is inserted into myfile which is hosted on a server of someservice.ext. Same for "DELETE LINE 12" or "SUBSTITUTE LINE 15". If I write "ECHO FILE" or something similar, the service should send me an email with the updated content of the text file. Does it exist?
