  • Package managers for Windows

    You might be familiar with Ninite. What I'd like to know is if there are good alternatives to that software for Windows. The features I expect: installs the latest version of software supports 64 bit installs where possible strips ads/toolbars/similar stuff provides a way to keep the programs updated after installation if I can add custom installers to the software, that's a big plus. Any ideas if such a program exists?

  • Does Moonlight work on linux in Google Chrome?

    I'm trying to install Moonlight, but I can only find instructions for setting it up in Firefox. And in the Ubuntu 10.04 repositories, I found a "moonlight-plugin-mozilla" package, but not "moonlight-plugin-chrome" (or similar). Is there any way to do this, or does Moonlight not yet run in Chrome?

    Is a there a similar program for Vista like the MAC application Automator Specifically I'm looking for a vista app that can control timed clicks,example...in automator, I can specify which pixel and how often to click, or a series of click in different places.I'm not looking for an"intelligent clicker" just a purely GUI programed clicker. ALso i need it do work and record the keyboard. From reading other SU posts i can see that c prompt doesn't have an easy to do this.

    Is it possible to assign different background images to tabs in Conemu? Console2 supports custom backgrounds per tab, and I'd like something similar to the functionality it provides. Perhaps I can set this in Startup - Tasks or via the command line of a running tab, but I can't find any information on it. e.g. Tab1 cmd "cmd.png" Tab2 powershell "ps.png" Tab3 Visual Studio Command Prompt "vs.png" Tab4 Admin:cmd "warning.png"

  • How do I automate installation of the MSMQ components on a Windows client?

    I'm looking at message queueing for client/server communication in a new product. One of the problems with MSMQ is that it's not installed by default on most Windows desktops, and that it doesn't seem to be available as a redistributable for inclusion in our MSI. Given that the administrator will have access to Microsoft SMS or ConfigMgr or similar, how do I persuade them that it's easy to install? That is: how do I automate installation of the MSMQ components?

  • Window tiling in Gnome without Compiz?

    I really do like the Grid plugin in Compiz, but at work I cannot use Compiz on my workstation (Fedora 12). Is there anything similar for plain X or Metacity? The Grid-plugin gives you a few keyboard shortcuts for tiling active window. For example Ctrl+Alt+Numpad_4 would tile window to half screen.

    Hi, I've recently got a free smart power electric energy monitor from my electric provider (npower, in the UK). While it is quite good i would like to pull the information from the monitor onto my home server, so i can get more detailed information and maybe graph it using mrtg or similar.     My site is in maintenance(construction). How to redirect visitors to a "site in maintenance" single page? I heard something about app_offline.htm for ASP.NET. Is there something similar for PHP? I want that every page from "mysite.com" be redirected to "mysite.com/maintenance.php"; I don't want to do the minimum modification in the existing site pages, ideally no one.
