• Dash music lens doesn't play music files

  After installing 12.10 music lens in Dash worked not for a long time. After a little while buttons "Open in directory" and "Play" (or whatever there was) just dissapeared. The only thing I can notice is that I have immediately removed Rhythmbox (as I used to do) and installed Banshee from quantal main. Besides, track length is not being displayed correctly any more. Something like 4838:32 is shown. The situation is the same for both single tracks or albums. But music files from main menu (for example, recent files) in dash have all features working: "E-mail", "Open" and "Play". Is there any way to solve all this? Hope there's no need to reinstall Rhythmbox...

  When I have done “what’s new in EF4” talks at user groups and conferences, I like to show off the new pluralization support in the EDM Wizard. I also like to have a little fun showing some cases where it doesn’t do so well. For example, it correctly singularized Breweries to Brewery, but uses the same rule on Movies, turning it to Movy. The wizard uses a runtime feature referred to as the Pluralization Service which you can code against yourself.   Following a great 2009, the PHP community is organizing a repeat TestFest for 2010. São Paulo, Brazil kicked off the season on May 29th and their results are already up on the results page. The TestFest 2010 wiki page contains all the information about participating inTestFest 2010, including some nice little scripts for building PHP on various platforms. There is a loose structure to the TestFest: user groups coordinate local events, and of course individuals are welcome to contribute tests. • Popup Details for a Table Record

  This one started as an OTN how-to question that seemed like something that should work automatically - turns out you need a couple of small tweaks to get it working. The idea is to have a table on a page showing multiple records, you can click any row in the table - and get a pop-up window that shows more data about that row. At first I thought I'll just need to drag the same view twice to the page - once as a table and then as a form in a pop-up. But then the Form didn't reflect the new row that got selected in the table - you'll always see the first row you selected. Adding a Partial Page Rendering between the table and the pop-up didn't do the trick either. Then I realized that the content delivery attribute of the pop-up was set to lazy, when I switched it to immediate - everything worked. Here is a little demo showing the whole development process: Note that the content delivery method attribute is also something you might want to check if you see your tables being refreshed too often when you scroll through records for example.

• Ubuntu 12.04.1 desktop monitor Out of Range

  I know this question has been asked many-a-times, but I cant seem to get a definate answer to it. I am running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on my HP Pavillion a6 109n PC. Processor is a AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual core Processor. Everytime I boot up my desktop, it runs BIOS, then it boots up Linux. After about 10 seconds, a little blue screen comes up saying: Out of Range: H. Frequency: 92.7KHz V. Frequency: 58.3Hz Can anyone help with this? Thanks! Zach

• Unity3d generating a file in iOS and saving it on a linux machine

  I've done a little research and don't know if the following is possible. At the moment I have created a small application in Unity that generates an XML file. This file will be used to help set up my game. It's done in Unity due to it being cross platform with no need to re-write a single line of code. Eventually this will run on an iPad. However, my game will be running on a linux computer and I need to pass over the XML file to the computer that will be running the final game (please don't ask why I'm doing that, it's something I need to do). So what I want to know is the following: Can I generate my XML file on an iPad and have that XML file be saved, and transmitted to a linux machine, without the need to manually copy the file over. If so, how is this possible?

• Connecting to Magento Web Services with Java

  I was in the unenviable position of needing to connect to Magento, a PHP ecommerce platform, web services using Java.  It was kind of difficult to get the classes generated from the WSDL so I figured I would throw the results up on my github account for any other poor sap in a similar position. • Textures on top of other textures when using VBOs

  I'm currently making a cube style game. With chunks being drawn with VBOs. I'd like to know if there is a way to create an overlay texture on top of the existing texture without the need to rebuild the VBO. This is required to show activity in a cube (think of Minecraft when destroying a block and the little cracks start spreading). I believe these are called "decals" but I've not found how to use them with VBOs. So how do I draw decals on OpenGL VBO drawn cubes?

  I have the requirement to implement some kind of Dual Control or Four-Eyes-Principle, meaning that every change of an object done by user A has to be checked by user B. A trivial example would be a publishing system where an author writes an article and another has to proofread it before it is published. I am a little bit surprised that you find nearly nothing about it on the net. No patterns, no libraries (besides cibet), no workflow solutions etc. Is this requirement really so uncommon? Or am I searching for the wrong terms? I am not looking for a specific solution. More for a pattern or best practice approach.

• Gnome Terminal tabs ugly and oversized

  Both gnome terminal and terminator (which I am using on my laptop these days) can be customised to look very pretty. By using full screen and keeping desktop clutter down to a minimum it's possible to get a good-sized area to work in, even on my little EeePC. However, there is one element that I don't seem to be able to control. Gnome's tabs are massively oversized and ugly at best. They don't fit into the theme at all which looks silly, but for me the biggest problem is the screen real estate that is wasted. On a small laptop screen in particular, it's a real problem. Is there a way to change these tabs? I realize it's possible to put them up the side of the window, but then they take up even more space! If this isn't possible with theme-ing or gnome configuration, are there any terminal programs like terminator that can handle the tabs themselves? (Ideally in a more elegant fashion!)

• TDD - A question about the approach

  I have a question about TDD. I have always seen the recommendation that we should first write unit tests and then start writing code. But I feel that going the other way is much more comfortable (for me) - write code and then the unit tests, because I feel we have much more clarity after we have written the actual code. If I write the code and then the tests, I may have to change my code a little bit to make it testable, even if I concentrate much on creating a testable design. On the other hand, if I write the tests and then the code, the tests will change pretty frequently as and when the code shapes up. My questions are: 1) As I see a lot of recommendations to start writing tests and then move on to coding, what are the disadvantages if I do it the other way - write code and then the unit tests? 2) Could you please point me to some links that discuss about this or recommend some books (TDD)?

• Personal | Going For A Long Drive

  This weekend, we were planning on going to Mt. Rushmore, but with the weather the way it is, we decided to head south instead. So what are we going to do? A tour of different restaurants on the show Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Not very original I know since there are web sites and iPhone apps dedicated to locating the establishments, but it definitely sounds like it could be some fun. We are going to leave KC tonight and go through St. Louis, Memphis, Little Rock, Dallas, Oklahoma City, and back to KC. The kiddos are excited and we have plenty of movies, coloring books, etc in the car for the trip. This will be the first time we will get to use our turn around seats in the mini-van with our pull out table. I will have my laptop and phone if anything goes wrong with the site while I am gone and John will be back in KC as well. I hope to pushing some photos and reviews of the restaurants as we travel.   Hello there, I'm new to Game programmming and SDL, and I have been following Lazyfoo's SDL tutorials. My question is related to time based motion and frame rate based motion, basically which is better or appropriate depending on situations?. Could you give me an example where each of these methods are used?. Another question I have is that, in lazyfoo's two Motion tutorials (FPS based and time based) The time based method showed a much smoother animation while the Frame rate based one was a little hiccupy, meaning you could clearly see the gap between the previous location of the dot and its current position when you compare the two programs. • quick approach to migrate classic asp project to asp.net

  Recently we got a requirement for converting a classic asp project to asp.net. This one is really a very old project created around 2002/2003. It consists of around 50 asp pages. I found very little documentation for this project, FSD and design documents for only a few modules. Just giving a quick look into this project my head start to hurt. It is really a mess. I checked the records and found none of the developers who worked on this project work for the company anymore. My real pain is that this is an urgent requirement and I have to provide an estimated deadline to my supervisor. I found a similar question classic-asp-to-asp-net, but I need some more insight on how to convert this classic asp project to asp.net in the quickest possible way.

  This is my first time trying to compile and install anything on a linux machine. I got the latest version of https://github.com/processone/exmpp via git and read the instructions which state: 2. Build and install Exmpp uses the Autotools. Therefore the process is quite common: $ ./configure $ make $ sudo make install after type ./configure I get the error Cannot find install-sh, install.sh, or shtool in ac-aux Google was of little to no help. Not sure at all what I'm supposed to do. Any help would be much appreciated

  I haven't been able to find a lot of the old, open source mud source codes. I find the way they did things very applicable to text-based/browser based games, and I'd love to be able to skim through parts of 'em for inspiration. For instance, we have this huge list of muds and the relationships between them, but little by way of access to source code. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD_trees Often (I'm looking at you, dikumud, http://www.dikumud.com/links.aspx ) the sites of the mud itself doesn't even have a working link to the source. https://github.com/alexmchale/merc-mud has a copy of merc that I found, which certainly contains other works within it's history, but the pickings seems sparse. Does anyone have better resources for gaining access to MUD source code than these?
