  • Fast, lightweight XML parser

    I have a specific format XML document that I will get pushed. This document will always be the same type so it's very strict. I need to parse this so that I can convert it into JSON (well, a slightly bastardized version so someone else can use it with DOJO). My question is, shall I use a very fast lightweight (no need for SAX, etc.) XML parser (any ideas?) or write my own, basically converting into a StringBuffer and spinning through the array? Basically, under the covers I assume all HTML parsers will spin thru the string (or memory buffer) and parse, producing output on the way through.     Yesterday I got this error The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed when I investigated, it was caused by whitespace at the very start of my XML document. Not difficult to solve, but I was struck with how unhelpful that particular error message was to identifying the actual problem. So what other examples of obscure errors do people have, and are you willing to admit to some of your own making.

  • How to make a thread that runs at x:00 x:15 x:30 and x:45 do something different at 2:00.

    I have a timer thread that needs to run at a particular moments of the day to do an incremental replication with a database. Right now it runs at the hour, 15 minutes past the hour, 30 minutes past the hour and 45 minutes past the hour. I have created a full replication process (as opposed to incremental) that I would like to run at a certain moment of the day, say 2:00am. How would change the above code to do this? I think that it should be very simple something like if it is now around 2:00am and it's been a long time since I did the full replication then do it now, but I can't get the if right. Beware that sometimes the replicate process takes way longer to complete. Sometimes beyond the 15 minutes, posing a problem in running at around 2:00am.

So unmarshall produces null. Is there a way to customize JAXB to unmarshall a Root object that will only contain the "good" entry?

  • Variable length Blob in hibernate?

    I have a byte[] member in one of my persistable classes. Normally, I'd just annotate it with @Lob and @Column(name="foo", size=). In this particular case, however, the length of the byte[] can vary a lot (from ~10KB all the way up to ~100MB). If I annotate the column with a size of 128MB, I feel like I'll be wasting a lot of space for the small and mid-sized objects. Is there a variable length blob type I can use? Will hibernate take care of all of this for me behind the scenes without wasting space? What's the best way to go about this? Thanks!

    Here's the sample code: public static void col (int n) { if (n % 2 == 0) n = n/2 ; if (n % 2 != 0) n = ((n*3)+1) ; System.out.println (n) ; if (n != 1) col (n) ; } this works just fine until it gets down to 2. then it outputs 2 4 2 4 2 4 2 4 2 4 infinitely. it seems to me that if 2 is entered as n then (n % 2 == 0) is true 2 will be divided by 2 to yeild 1. then 1 will be printed and since (n != 1) is false the loop will terminate. Why doesn't this happen?

  • Create NinePatch at Runtime

    Hello everybody! I have a business need to create the NinePatchDrawable objects at runtime, this is, an exterior .png image is received from a server and it has to be applied in a button's background (for example) as a nine patch. I have tried to create the NinePatchDrawable object, but the constructor asks me for a "byte[] chuck" that describes the patch. The thing is, I have no idea on how to build this chunck from a bitmap that does not have the 9patch information in it. Any ideas on this topic? Am I seeing the problem from a wrong perpective? Thanks!

    I need to sort on a date-field type, which name is "mod_date". It works like this in the browser adress-bar: http://localhost:8983/solr/select/?&q=bmw&sort=mod_date+desc But I am using a phpSolr client which sends an URL to Solr, and the url sent is this: fq=+category%3A%22Bilar%22+%2B+car_action%3AS%C3%A4ljes&version=1.2&wt=json&json.nl=map&q=%2A%3A%2A&start=0&rows=5&sort=mod_date+desc // This wont work and is echoed after this in php: $queryString = http_build_query($params, null, $this->_queryStringDelimiter); $queryString = preg_replace('/%5B(?:[0-9]|[1-9][0-9]+)%5D=/', '=', $queryString); This wont work, I dont know why! Everything else works fine, all right fields are returned. But the sort doesn't work. Any ideas? So this is the way I need to get to work (via php). This code below (also on top of this Q) works but thats because I paste it into the adress bar manually, not via the PHPclient. But thats just for debugging, I need to get it to work via the PHPclient: http://localhost:8983/solr/select/?&q=bmw&sort=mod_date+des // Not via phpclient, but works UPDATE (2010-03-08): I have tried Donovans codes (the urls) and they work fine. Now, I have noticed that it is one of the parameters causing the 'SORT' not to work. This parameter is the "wt" parameter. If we take the url from top of this Q, (fq=+category%3A%22Bilar%22+%2B+car_action%3AS%C3%A4ljes&version=1.2&wt=json&json.nl=map&q=%2A%3A%2A&start=0&rows=5&sort=mod_date+desc), and just simply remove the "wt" parameter, then the sort works. BUT the results appear differently, thus making my php code not able to recognize the results I believe. Donovan would know this I think. I am guessing in order for the PHPClient to work, the results must be in a specific structure, which gets messed up as soon as I remove the wt parameter. Donovan, help me please... Here is some background what I use your SolrPhpClient for: I have a classifieds website, which uses MySql. But for the searching I am using Solr to search some indexed fields. Then Solr returns an array of ID:numbers (for all matches of the search criteria). Then I use those ID:numbers to find everything in a MySql db and fetch all other information (example is not searchable information). So simplified: Search - Solr returns all matches in an array of ID:nrs - Id:numbers from Solr are the same as the Id numbers in the MySql db, so I can just make a simple match agains every record with the ID matching the ID from the Solr results array. I don't use Faceting, no boosting, no relevancy or other fancy stuff. I only sort by the latest classified put, and give the option to users to also sort on the cheapest price. Nothing more. Then I use the "fq" parameter to do queries on different fields in Solr depending on category chosen by users (example "cars" in this case which in my language is "Bilar"). I am really stuck with this problem here... Thanks for all help

How does it compares to using a traditional dependency injection framework such as Spring for wiring classes together. Is the resulting object graph (based on mixins rather than classes) easier to deal with from a maintenance point of view?

  • Windows 7 Seems to break SWT Control.print(GC)

    A bug has been filed and fixed (super quickly) in SWT: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=305294 Just to preface this, my goal here is to print the two images into a canvas so that I can animate the canvas sliding across the screen (think iPhone), sliding the controls themselves was too CPU intensive, so this was a good alternative until I tested it on Win7. I'm open to anything that will help me solve my original problem, it doesn't have to be fixing the problem below. Does anyone know how to get "Control.print(GC)" to work with Windows 7 Aero? I have code that works just fine in Windows XP and in Windows 7, when Aero is disabled, but the command: control.print(GC) causes a non-top control to be effectively erased from the screen. GC gc = new GC(image); try { // As soon as this code is called, calling "layout" on the controls // causes them to disappear. control.print(gc); } finally { gc.dispose(); } I have stacked controls and would like to print the images from the current and next controls such that I can "slide" them off the screen.   • Does calling a click method effect the HtmlPage object if there is a 404?

    If I call a click method on a HtmlAnchor, and say that page returns a 404, does that mean the HtmlPage will effect, so searching for another link on the page will result in an error because the page's HTML is the error page (assuming the link is NOT on the error page). Can I manually set the page's HTML, and then locate and click on links and continue on from this approach? (other than connecting via a URL)

  • Having a different action for each button dynamically created in a loop

    Hi, use this website a lot but first time posting. My program creates a number of buttons depending on the number of records in a file. E.g. 5 records, 5 buttons. The buttons are being created but i'm having a problem with the action listener. If add the action listener in the loop every button does the same thing; but if I add the action listener outside the loop it just adds the action listener to last button. Any ideas?   • Iterables.find and Iterators.find - instead of throwing exception, get null

    I'm using google-collections and trying to find the first element that satisfies Predicate if not, return me 'null'. Unfortunately, Iterables.find and Iterators.find throws NoSuchElementException when no element is found. Now, I am forced to do Object found = null; if ( Iterators.any( newIterator(...) , my_predicate ) { found = Iterators.find( newIterator(...), my_predicate ) } I can surround by 'try/catch' and do the same thing but for my use-cases, I am going to encounter many cases where no-element is found. Is there a simpler way of doing this?

    We are following Domain Driven Design for the implementation of a large website. However by putting the behaviour on the domain objects we are ending up with some very large classes. For example on our WebsiteUser object, we have many many methods - e.g. dealing with passwords, order history, refunds, customer segmentation. All of these methods are directly related to the user. Many of these methods delegate internally to other child object but this still results in some very large classes. I'm keen to avoid exposing lots of child objects e.g. user.getOrderHistory().getLatestOrder(). What other strategies can be used to avoid this problems?

    Hello Guys, I am having some problems concerning starting javax.swing.Timer after a mouse click. I want to start the timer to perform some animation after the user clicks on a button but it is not working.   • Hibernate many-to-many mapping not saved in pivot table

    I having problems saving many to many relationships to a pivot table. The way the pojos are created is unfortunately a pretty long process which spans over a couple of different threads which work on the (to this point un-saved) object until it is finally persisted. I associate the related objects to one another right after they are created and when debugging I can see the List of related object populated with their respective objects. So basically all is fine to this point.     According to what I've read, I think this can't be done, but I'd like to be sure. I have a class OpDTO and several other *DTO extends OpDTO. Then, I want to have a method to extract just certain elements from lists of these child DTOs, and return the extracted elements in another list: public List<? extends OpDTO> getLastOp (List<? extends OpDTO> listDTOs) { List<? extends OpDTO> last = new ArrayList<? extends OpDTO>(); //compile error: Cannot instantiate the type ArrayList<? extends OpDTO> //processing return last; } I want ult to be a list of elements of the same kind as elements in listDTOs, and use only OpDTO's methods, but it produces a compile error: Cannot instantiate the type ArrayList<? extends OpDTO> I also tried doing something like: public <T> List<T> getLastOp (List<T> listDTOs) { List<T> last = new ArrayList<T>(); //processing return last; } But then I can't enforce elements in listDTOs to be a subclass of OpDTO, and can't instantiate T. Any idea?

In eclipse, when i run the application, the below code will show the listed printer devices and print button. If i click the print button, the report is printing by selected device. At this point, its not displaying the listed printer details and also not printing. I put some logger, I found that, the code is hanging with exporter.exportReport(); after this line code is not executing . Please suggest me for how to print from client side using jasper
