    Ok SO, I have a user table and want to define groups of users together. The best solution I have for this is to create three database tables as follows: UserTable user_id user_name UserGroupLink group_id member_id GroupInfo group_id group_name This method keeps the member and group information separate. This is just my way of thinking. Is there a better way to do this? Also, what is a good naming convention for tables that link two other tables?

  • Catching multiple keystrokes simultaneously in Cocoa

    I have used 4 NSButtons and assigned them to the 4 arrow keys separately to move in four different directions. Now I want to use two keystrokes, left arrow and up arrow together simultaneously, for north east movement, how can I do it? I am only able to use one keystroke at a time , I need to catch two key strokes simultaneously, I need it for my game project.

  • How can I perform an idiomatic non-recursive flatten in ruby?

    I have a method that returns an array of arrays. For convenience I use collect on a collection to gather them together. arr = collection.collect {|item| item.get_array_of_arrays} Now I would like to have a single array that contains all the arrays. Of course I can loop over the array and use the + operator to do that. newarr = [] arr.each {|item| newarr += item} But this is kind of ugly, is there a better way?

    Hi, I'm currently understanding one application developed both in visual basic and c#. Running through the code is getting tough as code is around 50KLOC. So i'm planning for generation of AST (abstract syntax tree). Will it be possible to generate for both language together.     ok, embarrassing enough, I posted code that I need explained. Specifically, it first chains absolute value and subtraction together, then tacks on a sort, all the while not having to mention parameters and arguments at all, because of the presense of "adverbs" that can join these functions "verbs" What (non-APL-type) languages support this kind of no-arguments function composition (I have the vague idea it ties in strongly to the concepts of monad/dyad and rank, but its hard to get a particularly easy-to-understand picture just from reading Wikipedia) and what do I call this concept?

  • C# menustrip designer

    Hi, I'm not sure when this happened but when I was trying to edit a menustrip in my program (in the VS designer), I noticed that the menu items had be grouped or merged. Like: File Edit Format Insert ... Instead of being able to click each menu item and add sub-items to them in the designer, they all were grouped together so I couldn't edit the menu items separately, it's quite painful. I couldn't find any properties related to this, so how could I ungroup the menu items in the designer?

    I want to be able to add a parent column header to each pair of columns shown below. So I want it to look like this: Grand Total OnHand Available Anyone know a way to do this? I know you can group columns together but I'm wondering how I can apply a label to those groups. Alternatively, if theres no way to do that, I could just override the "Grand Total" display text. The only problem is I can't get it aligned above its correct columns.

  • What is a good way of Enhancing contrast of color images?

    I split color image for 3 channels and made a contrast enhancement of each channel. Then merged them together, I like the image at the result, but it has different colors. Black objects became yellow and so on... EDIT: The algorithm I used is to calculate the 5th percentile and the 95th percentile as min and max values, and then expand the values of image so that it will have min and max values as 0 and 255. If there is a better approach please tell me.

  • Development Environment for Testing MySQL Replication

    Is there an easy way to setup an environment on one machine (or a VM) with MySQL replication? I would like to put together a proof of concept of MySQL replication with one Master write instance and two slave instances for reads. I can see doing it across 2 or 3 VMs running on my computer, but that would really bog down my system. I'd rather have everything running on the same VM. What's the best way to proof out scalability solutions like this in a local dev environment? Thanks for your help, Dave

We are working on a S60 version and this platform has a nice Python API.     Are there any ways to get count of current unfinished tasks at Google Appengine development server? I need it for making my integration test. I found a way to get this when running it local (just in mem), as described at appengine docs. But when i'm running it as a standalone server, from maven, this doesn't work. Just because library appengine-testing conflicts with Appengine SDK classes, and i can't use those classes together, when running sdk dev server.

    What is the best practice for creating an audio prompt within my app, which will append different portions of audio together to ask a question? ex. "What is" + "foo"? "What is" + "bar"? I have developed a "AudioQueue" object using audiotool box which uses AudioServicesPlaySystemSound() and it is working perfectly.
