• Speed up multiple JDBC SQL querys?

  I'm working on a shortest path a* algorithm in java with a mysql db. I'm executing the following SQL Query approx 300 times in the program to find route connections from a database of 10,000 bus connections. It takes approx 6-7 seconds to execute the query 300 times. Any suggestions on how I can speed this up or any ideas on a different method i can use ? • Missing on-screen keyboard for Flash/Flex web application on Android?

  I have an enterprise Flex web application, served up over https, that runs fine on Flash player 10.0 and beyond from a desktop computer/browser. However, when I run it from my HTC Incredible with Android 2.2 the app loads fine, but there is no on-screen keyboard and so I cannot log in. I can see the blinking cursor inside the username and password text fields. I can switch between them. I can even hit the login button and see an authentication error! According to Adobe this should Just Work. Any ideas? I wanna show off our spanking new app to strangers at the bus stop!

  I have a fairly simple domain model involving a list of Facility aggregate roots. Given that I'm using CQRS and an event-bus to handle events raised from the domain, how could you handle validation on sets? For example, say I have the following requirement: Facility's must have a unique name. Since I'm using an eventually consistent database on the query side, the data in it is not guaranteed to be accurate at the time the event processesor processes the event. For example, a FacilityCreatedEvent is in the query database event processing queue waiting to be processed and written into the database. A new CreateFacilityCommand is sent to the domain to be processed. The domain services query the read database to see if there are any other Facility's registered already with that name, but returns false because the CreateNewFacilityEvent has not yet been processed and written to the store. The new CreateFacilityCommand will now succeed and throw up another FacilityCreatedEvent which would blow up when the event processor tries to write it into the database and finds that another Facility already exists with that name.

  I know that peripheral devices such as a hard driver, a floppy driver, etc are controlled by reading/writing certain control registers on their device controllers. I am wondering about the following questions: Is it true that when these peripheral devices are plugged onto the computer, the addresses(port numbers) of their control registers are thus determined by how they are attached to the address bus (i.e. the hard-wiring rules, not any soft things)? Who makes the scheme of the port number assignment? If I was given a naked computer(with no operating system and with many peripheral devices), how could I figure out the port number assignment so I can use them to control peripheral deveices.   I know the general theory but I can't fit in the details. I know that a program resides in the secondary memory of a computer. Once the program begins execution it is entirely copied to the RAM. Then the processor retrive a few instructions (it depends on the size of the bus) at a time, puts them in registers and executes them. I also know that a computer program uses two kinds of memory: stack and heap, which are also part of the primary memory of the computer. The stack is used for non-dynamic memory, and the heap for dynamic memory (for example, everything related to the new operator in C++) What I can't understand is how those two things connect. At what point is the stack used for the execution of the instructions? Instructions go from the RAM, to the stack, to the registers?

• C# : Redirect console application output : How to flush the output?

  I am spawning external console application and use async output redirect. as shown in this SO post My problem is it seems that the spawned process needs to produce certain amount of output before I get the OutputDataReceived event notification. I want to receive the OutputDataReceived event as soon as possible. I have a bare-bones redirecting application, and here are some observations: 1. When I call a simple 'while(true) print("X");' console application (C#) I receive output event immediately. 2. When I call a 3d party app I am trying to wrap from the command line I see the line-by-line output. 3. When I call that 3d party app from my bare-bone wrapper (see 1) - the output comes in chunks (about one page size). What happens inside that app? FYI: The app in question is a "USBee DX Data Exctarctor (Async bus) v1.0".

Where can I find documentation on supporting udev in in kernel module? Note that module itself is not a device driver. It serves as a multiplexor for a set of drivers. Therefor default ways of registering devices (i.e. pci ones) are not suitable for my task.

  Sometimes the simplest questions make me love C/C++ and C# more and more. Today sitting on the bus musing aout delegates I remembered reading somwhere you don't need to use the new keyword when instaniating a new delegate. For example: public static void SomeMethod(string message) { ... } ... public delegate void TestDelgate(string message); //Define a delegate ........... //create a new instance ..METHOD 1 TestDelgate t = new TestDelgate(SomeMethod); //OR another way to create a new instance ..METHOD 2 TestDelgate t = SomeMethod; //create a new instance ..METHOD 2 So todays questions are What happens under the hood in method 2. Does the compiler expand method 2 into method 1, hence writing TestDelgate t = SomeMethod; is just a shortcut for TestDelgate t = new TestDelgate(SomeMethod);, or is there another reason for the exsitence of method 2 Do you guys think method 1 or method 2 is better for readability (this is a subjective question, but I'd just like to get a unscientific feel of general opinion of stackoverflow :-))

  I wrote a basic free app for the bus schedule in my American university's town which was accepted into the app store on Saturday. Since then the app has been downloaded (assuming I'm reading the iTunes Connect reports right) 18 times in Canada, 6 times in Germany, and many times from other places all over the world. I can't figure out why all these people are downloading it... are there services automatically downloading free apps for some purpose that I can't even imagine? Should I put a price on it ASAP?

  Hi People! I am building a Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) with Java. I won't get into details But I have to build multiple servers who make use of the same classes. I have the following directory structure: /server1 -Main.java /server2 -Main.java /com -Database.java I want to import from the Main.java class for example the Database.class. But of course the following statements won't work: import com.Database; I am working with the javac compiler in the command line (so not eclipse stuff or whatever. just TextMate and the command line). And I found a (pretty stupid) solution by creating a symbolic link in the servers to the com directory. But that is not really an ideal solution. Does anybody have a better one?? THANXS in advanced!! :D

• How to debug lost events posted from non-GUI thread in Qt?

  As the subject says, I'm posting events from non-GUI thread (some GStreamer thread, to be precise). Code looks like this: GstBusSyncReply on_bus_message(GstBus* bus, GstMessage* message, gpointer data) { bool ret = QMetaObject::invokeMethod(static_cast<QObject*>(data), "stateChanged", Qt::QueuedConnection); Q_ASSERT(ret); return GST_BUS_PASS; } The problem is, stateChanged (doesn't matter whether it is a slot or signal) is not called. I've stepped into QMetaObject::invokeMethod with debugger, followed it till it called PostMessage (it is Qt 4.6.2 on Windows, by the way) – everything seemed to be OK. Object pointed to by data lives in GUI thread, I've double-checked this. How can I debug this problem? Or, better, maybe sidestep it altogether?

  I've heard from various people that programmable Ethernet cards exist and are easily available. However I have yet to be able to track down one of these mythical devices so I'm wondering if they're just that - a myth. Such a programmable card has a gigabit Ethernet interface, has a programmable CPU and connects to the host system via PCI Express. The problem area these cards address are low latency network applications where the card itself does the work and "reports back" to the operating system. Basically the card acts as a co-processor and handles all the low latency requirements on the card, thus avoiding the issues of writing low latency code in user-land - think 0.4ms - 0.5ms response times. So my question is, do these cards really exist and if so, where can I get my hands on one?

  I am aware of MSINFO32, but I'm wondering if there is a MS DOS command similar to ipconfig in order to get system specifications? I would like for the system specifications to be displayed in the MS DOS prompt. I would like to see at least: CPU RAM BUS speed Thanks for any insights. • JQuery .get() only passing first two data parameters in url

  I have a $.get() call to a PHP page that takes 4 GET parameters. For some reason, despite giving the $.get() call all 4, it only passes the first two. When I look at the dev console in chrome, it shows the URL that gets called, and it only passes action and dbname. • Kernel Error during upgrade or update commands

  I am getting these errors during sudo apt-get update and upgrade... I tried all possible options no success. I recently upgraded to 13.04 and had problems with Broadcom WiFi. Fixed tat issues using the clean script... but looks like it did not install the Kernel properly.. Prior to joining Microdesk, Bernard worked as a researcher and teacher at the University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland where he was awarded with a PhD in Computer Methods in Materials Science. • Oracle Utilities Application Framework future feature deprecation

  From time to time, existing functionality is replaced with alternative features to offer greater flexibility and standardization. In Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.2.0.0.0 the following features are being announced for deprecation in the next release or have been previously announced and are not being delivered with this version of the Oracle Utilities Application Framework: ·         No SQL Server Support – Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.2.0.0.0 or above does not ship with any support for SQL Server. ·         No MPL Support – Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.2.0.0.0 or above does not ship with the Multi-Purpose Listener (MPL) component of the XML Application Integration (XAI) component. Customers using the MPL should migrate to Oracle Service Bus. ·         No provided Crystal Reports/Business Objects Interface – Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.2.0.0.0 or above does not ship with a supported Crystal Reports/Business Objects Interface. This facility is now available as downloadable customization for existing or new customers. Responsibility for maintenance and new features is now individual customer's responsibility. ·         XAI Servlet deprecation – The XAI Servlet (xaiserver and classicxai) will be removed in the next release of the Oracle Utilities Application Framework. • Dell XPS 15 (L502x) sound problem

  I have a problem with my sound on my Dell XPS 15. First, when I had Windows 7, my sound was pretty good (I have a JBL 2.1 speaker system with Waves Maxx audio), but since I installed Ubuntu 12.04 it sounded very cheap and as if I put my laptop in a tin can. • Python PyBluez loses Bluetooth connection after a while

  I am using Python to write a simple serial Bluetooth script that sends information about my computer stats periodically. The receiving device is a Sparkfun BlueSmirf Silver. The problem is that, after the script runs for a few minutes, it stops sending packets to the receiver and fails with the error: (11, 'Resource temporarily unavailable') Noticing that this inevitably happens, I added some code to automatically try to reopen the connection. However, then I get: Could not connect: (16, 'Device or resource busy') Am I doing something wrong with the connection? Do I need to occasionally reopen the socket? I'm not sure how to recover from this type of error. I understand that sometimes the port will be busy and a write operation is deferred to avoid blocking other processes, but I wouldn't expect the connection to fail so regularly. Any thoughts?
