  • Cannot add SourceSafe Database as Visual Studio 2010 source control.

    My issue is that I cannot add SourceSafe Database for source control within Visual Studio 2010. Our team was initially using VSS for source control in Visual Studio 2010. During an evaluation of TFS, I switched my source control to TFS. It will be a few weeks before a decision is made on TFS, so I needed to switch my source control back to VSS. However I'm now unable to add a SourceSafe Database in Visual Studio. Steps to Reproduce in Visual Studio 2010: 1) Access the 'Open SourceSafe Database' form via Tools-Options-Source Control-Plug-in Settings--Advanced or via File-Source Control 2) The list of available database is blank so I choose 'Browse'. 3) I browse to the srcsafe.ini file for my VSS database and select it. 4) I'm promted to confirm the Database Name - Click OK. 5) The database does not appear in the 'Open SourceSafe' Database form. The list of available databases is still blank. Note that I can add the database fine outside of Visual Studio using VSS directly. However the databases I add via VSS do not appear in the Visual Studio forms. I'm suspicious that this is related to "down-grading" from TFS to VSS which may not have been heavily tested at MS. Any assistance is appreciated.

[OK] I'm running Windows 7 (64bit) Ultimate and have installed this service pack before (2 days ago) on another machine with similar specs and the same exact OS software. I've tried mounting the .ISO file to a virtual drive and installing from there and I get that error. I've tried mounting the .ISO and copy pasting the files to a local folder on my drive and then running the setup.exe application, and I get that error. I don't know how to proceed but can provide any additional information you require from me. What can I do to fix this? Edit If I right click Setup.exe and Run As Administrator, I get the following error: [Window Title] C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\Things\Setup.exe [Content] Windows cannot find 'C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\Things\Setup.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. [OK] I've already tried re downloading the ISO from the site, but a quick check of the bytes of the file assures me that the ISO on my drive is 100% correctly downloaded. I get the same amount of bytes in size from the downloading ISO (as Opera reports).

    Hello All, I am having issues with my "Public Folders" mail enabled folders receiving e-mails from external senders. The folder is setup with three Accepted Domains (names changed for privacy reasons): 1 - domain1.com (primary & Authoritative) 2 - domain2.com (Authoritative) 3 - domain3.com (Authoritative) When someone attempts to send an e-mail to [email protected] from inside the organization, the e-mail is received and placed in the appropriate folder. However, when someone tries to send an e-mail from outside the organization (such as a gmail account), the following error message is received: "Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 554 554 Recipient address rejected: User unknown (state 14)." When I try to send an e-mail to the same folder, using the same e-mail address above ([email protected]), but with domain2.com instead of domain3.com, it works as intended (both internal & external). I have checked, double checked, and triple checked my DNS settings comparing those from domain2 & domain3 with them both appearing identical. I have tried recreating the folders in question with the same results. I have also ran Get-PublicFolderClientPermission "\Web Programs\folder" with the following results for user anonymous: RunspaceId : 5ff99653-a8c3-4619-8eeb-abc723dc908b Identity : \Web Programs\folder User : Anonymous AccessRights : {CreateItems} Domain2.com & Domain3.com are duplicates of each other, but only domain2.com works as intended.     In order to select images in Microsoft Word documents you need to get the cursor just right so that it turns into the "+" arrow icon, at which point you can click to select the image. When your cursor is not in exactly the right spot you see something like this (note that the letter "m" shown in the picture is an image, not a font): When your cursor is in an appropriate spot you see something like this: For simple images with relatively straight and simple borders, it's easy; you hover over the image and you get the "+" arrow. But for smaller, more intricate images with many sides, thin borders or perhaps transparency it's often madness as you move your cursor all over the image struggling to find the teenie little spot that Word deems is selectable. Is there some means of enabling the display of "handles" (maybe wrong term) around images before you select them, so you can see the selectable spots without hunting and pecking for them?

    I've recently got a new Mac laptop and am running VS2010 in a Parallels virtual machine. It's mostly working out well for me, but I'm having some problems with debugging specific project types, related to the fact that the projects are being accessed via a network share. Test projects don't run because the test runner can't load the tests' DLL. Web projects fail to run in the Visual Studio mini web server, throwing the following exception: 'An error occurred loading a configuration file: Failed to start monitoring changes to path\to\web.config'. I've spent the evening trawling the web with little luck on this. After reading these two posts, I tried out the usual CasPol changes, but then found this post from one of the early VS2010 betas indicating that CasPol is no longer needed/supported in .NET 4.0 and VS2010. The network share is accessible via both a mapped drive and the UNC path. The virtual machine runs its applications under the administrator account, which appears to have all the necessary permissions on the network share to create, read, write and delete files and folders. I say "appears to have" as I can't view the Security Properties of the appropriate folder via Explorer: the Security tab just isn't present. Has anyone managed to successfully load and debug web and test projects from a network share in VS2010?

    I am a fan of OneNote, but there is one aspect of it that makes it less useful than it could be. When I make a new side note (i.e. by clicking the OneNote icon in the system tray or pressing WindowsKey + N), the size of the window of the resulting note that opens is far too large. It probably takes up 20% of my reasonably high-res screen by default. I have to click and drag to resize it, and that's a waste of my time. So, I have a two part question: Is there a way of modifying some settings somewhere (perhaps in the registry?) so that the default window size of a new side note is smaller than the default? I would prefer something more in line with the size of a new "sticky" note in OS X. If not, does anyone know of a fast way to shrink the size of a window using the keyboard?   • Why does my font in the OneNote 2010 beta keep changing back to a non-default?

    In OneNote options I've set a particular default font. Then I selected all text in a particular notebook section and change it to the new font. However, whenever I insert a new line in that existing body of text, it reverts to a font that isn't my default. Almost as if the incorrect "style" information is somehow embedded in the existing text, even though the text itself is the correct font. How can I resolve this?

    Let us consider a following data set: Name | Age | Hair Color ----------------------------- John | Young | Brown Sophie | Old | Blond Adam | Mature| Blond Mark | Teen | Dark Jeremy | Old | Grey Alex | Young | Brown etc... Both Age and Hair Color, can take only defined values(Young/teen/mature/old and Blond/brown/Dark/Grey). Name is the only real variable here. I want to create a Scatter Plot / Matrix that will look something like that: I know that I schould use this tool to add labels to the scatter plot. I also found this youtube video that explains how to display categories on Y-axis Moreover I need the chart to be dynamic as explained in another youtube video. How do I combine all these approaches to get a Scatter Plot with categories as values on both axis?

  • Microsoft Forefront Management Gateway 2010 - Which topology to choose for monitoring only server?

    Hello, I've installed Forefront and wanted to use it as monitoring traffic solution until we decide to put it as a router. I've 2 nic's assigned to this virtual machine. One NIC has connected port which is "mirror port" of our WAN redirected on switch so it sees all the network traffic flying by. The other NIC is internet access. This server is located inside our lan network. What topology should i choose and which options I should look at to be able to see which traffic is used (SMTP, WWW etc) and who does what? We had cases of infected machines with spam and we want to be able to see that some machine is sending large amounts of mails. Is that possible ?

  • Too many concurrent connections Exchange 2010. What else is there to check?

    I thought that I had this under control before. But for some reason during our last email marketing promo, I start receiving from our mass email client (built in house).. The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code is 0x800ccc67. The server repsonse was 421 4.3.2 The maximum number of concurrent connections has exceeded a limit, closing transmission channel again. There's several places I've checked to make sure that wouldn't be an issue. First I checked that receive connector was set to receive an adequate number of connections on our relay connector (1000 connections). Then, I would later find out about Throttling Policies. I created one and set all the properties I knew to set in terms of the policy following properties to 1000; EWSMaxConcurrency, OWAMaxConcurrency, CPAMaxConcurrency, and CPAMaxConcurrency. Still, the email client starts receiving the error shortly after 100 has been sent and takes about 15-30 seconds. The process is then repeatable, but still the error gets received at the same spot everytime. Is there a rate setting that I am missing? Was there a windows update that I missed looking at? Should the software have it's own throttling feature?

SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : smtp:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : False PrefixString : smtp SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : smtp:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : False PrefixString : smtp SmtpAddress : [email protected] AddressString : [email protected] ProxyAddressString : SMTP:[email protected] Prefix : SMTP IsPrimaryAddress : True PrefixString : SMTP Now to add a new email address, I do the following poweshell command :- $mbx.EmailAddresses += "myEmailAddress.com" $mbx | Set-Mailbox So i'm not sure how i can use the foreach to remove each address? I tried:- @mbx.EmailAddresses | foreach { $mbx.EmailAddresses -= $._SmtpAddress } and that failed miserably. That's my first attempt of PS script, ever :P Can anyone help?
