  • Monitor file disk activity programmatically (Windows)

    - by iulianchira
In Windows 2008R2, in Resource Monitor in the Disk Acitivity section I can see the number of bytes read from/written into files. How can I do this in a programatic manner, prefferably using C# (or Win32 API)? I have looked into WMI and various performance counters, however I cannot figure out if there is something which suits my needs.

When system going sleep and later waking up at scheduled time, my daemon do some work, and after it system should going sleep again. Now my questions: How can i detect, if the system was awaked by user or by the scheduled time? How can i detect, if a user currently working with the system, so the daemon have not to put it in sleep-mode??? Thanks Nobik

  • Issue with SQL query for activity stream/feed

    - by blabus
I'm building an application that allows users to recommend music to each other, and am having trouble building a query that would return a 'stream' of recommendations that involve both the user themselves, as well as any of the user's friends. This is my table structure: Recommendations ID Sender Recipient [other columns...] -- ------ --------- ------------------ r1 u1 u3 ... r2 u3 u2 ... r3 u4 u3 ... Users ID Email First Name Last Name [other columns...] --- ----- ---------- --------- ------------------ u1 ... ... ... ... u2 ... ... ... ... u3 ... ... ... ... u4 ... ... ... ... Relationships ID Sender Recipient Status [other columns...] --- ------ --------- -------- ------------------ rl1 u1 u2 accepted ... rl2 u3 u1 accepted ... rl3 u1 u4 accepted ... rl4 u3 u2 accepted ... So for user 'u4' (who is friends with 'u1'), I want to query for a 'stream' of recommendations relevant to u4. This stream would include all recommendations in which either the sender or recipient is u4, as well as all recommendations in which the sender or recipient is u1 (the friend). This is what I have for the query so far: SELECT * FROM recommendations WHERE recommendations.sender IN ( SELECT sender FROM relationships WHERE recipient='u4' AND status='accepted' UNION SELECT recipient FROM relationships WHERE sender='u4' AND status='accepted') OR recommendations.recipient IN ( SELECT sender FROM relationships WHERE recipient='u4' AND status='accepted' UNION SELECT recipient FROM relationships WHERE sender='u4' AND status='accepted') UNION SELECT * FROM recommendations WHERE recommendations.sender='u4' OR recommendations.recipient='u4' GROUP BY recommendations.id ORDER BY datecreated DESC Which seems to work, as far as I can see (I'm no SQL expert). It returns all of the records from the Recommendations table that would be 'relevant' to a given user. However, I'm now having trouble also getting data from the Users table as well. The Recommendations table has the sender's and recipient's ID (foreign keys), but I'd also like to get the first and last name of each as well. I think I require some sort of JOIN, but I'm lost on how to proceed, and was looking for help on that. (And also, if anyone sees any areas for improvement in my current query, I'm all ears.) Thanks!

  • Why does Android Account & Sync reboot when trying to find my settings activity?

    - by mobibob
I have an activity that I can declare as Launcher category and it launches just fine from the home screen. However, when I try to hook-up the same activity into my SyncAdapter's settings activity and open it from the Accounts & Sync page - MySyncAdapter - (touch account listing) it aborts with a system fatal error (reboots phone). • Navigate to menu on back button press

    - by GAMA
I'm navigating from: Main activity to Activity 2 Activity 2 to Activity 3 Activity 3 to Activity 4 through Intent. I've also created the menu so that user can directly navigate from Activity 4 to Main activity. But after navigating from Activity 4 to Main activity by using menu, when I press back, it takes me to Activity 3 rather than exiting the application. I tried: @Override public void onBackPressed() { super.onBackPressed(); MainActivity.this.finish(); } But no gain. Any suggestions?

  • Answers to Your Common Oracle Database Lifecycle Management Questions

    - by Scott McNeil
We recently ran a live webcast on Strategies for Managing Oracle Database's Lifecycle. There were tons of questions from our audience that we simply could not get to during the hour long presentation. Below are some of those questions along with their answers. Enjoy! Question: In the webcast the presenter talked about “gold” configuration standards, for those who want to use this technique, could you recommend a best practice to consider or follow? How do I get started? Answer:Gold configuration standardization is a quick and easy way to improve availability through consistency. Start by choosing a reference database and saving the configuration to the Oracle Enterprise Manager repository using the Save Configuration feature. Next create a comparison template using the Oracle provided template as a starting point and modify the ignored properties to eliminate expected differences in your environment. Finally create a comparison specification using the comparison template you created plus your saved gold configuration and schedule it to run on a regular basis. Don’t forget to fill in the email addresses of those you want to notify upon drift detection. Watch the database configuration management demo to learn more. Question: Can Oracle Lifecycle Management Pack for Database help with patching an Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) environment? Answer: Yes, Oracle Enterprise Manager supports both parallel and rolling patch application of Oracle Real Application Clusters. The use of rolling patching is recommended as there is no downtime involved. For more details watch this demo. Question: What are some of the things administrators can do to control configuration drift? Why is it important? Answer:Configuration drift is one of the main causes of instability and downtime of applications. Oracle Enterprise Manager makes it easy to manage and control drift using scheduled configuration comparisons combined with comparison templates. Question: Does Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 2 offer an incremental update feature for "gold" images? For instance, if the source binary has a higher PSU level, what is the best approach to update the existing "gold" image in the software library? Do you have to create a new image or can you just update the original one? Answer:Provisioning Profiles (Gold images) can contain the installation files and database configuration templates. Although it is possible to make some changes to the profile after creation (mainly to configuration), it is normally recommended to simply create a new profile after applying a patch to your reference database. Question: The webcast talked about enforcing in-house standards, does Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c offer verification of your databases and systems to those standards? For example, the initial "gold" image has been massively deployed over time, and there may be some changes to it. How can you do regular checks from Enterprise Manager to ensure the in-house standards are being enforced? Answer:There are really two methods to validate conformity to standards. The first method is to use gold standards which you compare other databases to report unwanted differences. This method uses a new comparison template technology which allows users to ignore known differences (i.e. SID, Start time, etc) which results in a report only showing important or non-conformant differences. This method is quick to setup and configure and recommended for those who want to get started validating compliance quickly. The second method leverages the new compliance framework which allows the creation of specific and robust validations. These compliance rules are grouped into standards which can be assigned to databases quickly and easily. Compliance rules allow for targeted and more sophisticated validation beyond the basic equals operation available in the comparison method. The compliance framework can be used to implement just about any internal or industry standard. The compliance results will track current and historic compliance scores at the overall and individual database targets. When the issue is resolved, the score is automatically affected. Compliance framework is the recommended long term solution for validating compliance using Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c. Check out this demo on database compliance to learn more. Question: If you are using the integration between Oracle Enterprise Manager and My Oracle Support in an "offline" mode, how do you know if you have the latest My Oracle Support metadata? Answer:In Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Release 2, you now only need to download one zip file containing all of the metadata xmls files. There is no indication that the metadata has changed but you could run a checksum on the file and compare it to the previously downloaded version to see if it has changed. Question: What happens if a patch fails while administrators are applying it to a database or system? Answer:A large portion of Oracle Enterprise Manager's patch automation is the pre-requisite checks that happen to ensure the highest level of confidence the patch will successfully apply. It is recommended you test the patch in a non-production environment and save the patch plan as a template once successful so you can create new plans using the saved template. If you are using the recommended ‘out of place’ patching methodology, there is no urgency because the database is still running as the cloned Oracle home is being patched. Users can address the issue and restart the patch procedure at the point it left off. If you are using 'in place' method, you can address the issue and continue where the procedure left off. Question: Can Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c R2 compare configurations between more than one target at the same time? Answer:Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c can compare any number of target configurations at one time. This is the basis of many important use cases including Configuration Drift Management. These comparisons can also be scheduled on a regular basis and emails notification sent should any differences appear. To learn more about configuration search and compare watch this demo. Question: How is data comparison done since changes are taking place in a live production system? Answer:There are many things to keep in mind when using the data comparison feature (as part of the Change Management ability to compare table data). It was primarily intended to be used for maintaining consistency of important but relatively static data. For example, application seed data and application setup configuration. This data does not change often but is critical when testing an application to ensure results are consistent with production. It is not recommended to use data comparison on highly dynamic data like transactional tables or very large tables. Question: Which versions of Oracle Database can be monitored through Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c? Answer:Oracle Database versions: 9.2.0.8, 10.1.0.5, 10.2.0.4, 10.2.0.5, 11.1.0.7, 11.2.0.1, 11.2.0.2, 11.2.0.3. • How to open new view (call an activity) from options menu defined in XML? (android)

    - by Portablejim
    I cant seem to open a new view from an options menu item. The program keeps crashing as it applies the intent and listener to the item. I am just beginning, so please be nice. The current view is mnfsms, and the view I am trying to open is mnfsms_settings. I am developing for 1.5. Could someone please help me get the menu working. The menu (called options_menu.xml): <menu xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:id="@+id/settings_button" android:title="Settings" android:icon="@android:drawable/ic_menu_preferences" /> <item android:id="@+id/about_button" android:title="About" android:icon="@android:drawable/ic_menu_myplaces" /> </menu> The main view (called mnfsms.java): package com.example.mnfsms; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Intent; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.Menu; import android.view.MenuInflater; import android.view.MenuItem; public class mnfsms extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); /* OnClickListener myocl = new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v){ Intent myi = new Intent(mnfsms.this, mnfsms_settings.class); startActivity(myi); } };*/ } public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { MenuInflater inflater = getMenuInflater(); inflater.inflate(R.menu.options_menu, menu); MenuItem mi_settings = (MenuItem)findViewById(R.id.settings_button); mi_settings.setIntent(new Intent(this, mnfsms_settings.class)); return true; } } The manifest: <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.example.mnfsms" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0"> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> <activity android:name=".mnfsms" android:label="@string/main_window_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name=".mnfsms_settings" android:label="string/main_window_name"> </activity> </application> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3" /> </manifest> The stacktrace: 01-06 15:07:58.045: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): java.lang.NullPointerException 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at com.example.mnfsms.mnfsms.onCreateOptionsMenu(mnfsms.java:30) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at android.app.Activity.onCreatePanelMenu(Activity.java:2038) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow.preparePanel(PhoneWindow.java:421) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow.onKeyDownPanel(PhoneWindow.java:664) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow.onKeyDown(PhoneWindow.java:1278) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.dispatchKeyEvent(PhoneWindow.java:1735) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at android.view.ViewRoot.deliverKeyEventToViewHierarchy(ViewRoot.java:2188) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleFinishedEvent(ViewRoot.java:2158) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1490) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:3948) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:782) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:540) 01-06 15:07:58.055: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2123): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method)

  • BPM PS6 video showing process lifecycle in more detail (30min) by Mark Nelson

    - by JuergenKress
If the five minute video I shared last week has whet your appetite for more, then this might be just what you are looking for! The same international team that has made that video - Andrew Dorman, Tanya Williams, Carlos Casares, Joakim Suarez and James Calise – have also created a thirty minute version that walks through in much more detail and shows you, from the perspective of various business stakeholders involved in process modeling, exactly how BPM PS6 supports the end to end process lifecycle. The video centres around a Retail Leasing use case, and follows how Joakim the Business Analyst, Pablo the Process Owner, and James the Process Analyst take the process from conception to runtime, solely through BPM Composer, without the need for IT or the use of JDeveloper. Joakim, the Business Analyst, models the process, designs the user interaction forms, and creates business rules, Pablo, the Process Owner, reviews the process documentation and tests the process using the new ‘Process Player’, James, the Process Analyst, analyses the process and identifies potential bottle necks using ‘Process Simulation’. • How to establish a two-way communication between Activity and Service in different process?

    - by steff
Hi everyone, I'm working on establishing a two-way communication between an Activity and a Service which runs in a different process. Querying the process from the Activity is no big deal. But I want the process to notify the Activity on events. The idea behind it is this: the service runs independently from the actual app. It queries a webserver periodically. If a new task is found on the webserver the process should notify the activity. I found this thread over at AndDev.org but it doesn't seem to work for me. I've been messing around with BroadcastReceiver. I've implemented an interface which should notify the Activity but the problem is that the listener is always null since the Broadcast from the process is done via Intent, hence the class that extends BroadcastReceiver will be newly instantiated. How can I establish a 2-way communication? This has to be possible. Thanks for any help, steff

  • How to run a widget inside of an activity in Android?

    - by user220755
I have a widget built to give the user the chance to choose the date (I did not build it, I am building on top of an open source software). Now, I need to display this widget inside of a class that extends the activity class in Android. Let me show some code. Let us say this is the activity class: public class RandomClass extends Activity { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { // I want to run the widget here when the class is created // (the activity is created) } } The widget i want to run is a widget that lets the user choose the date. I know I code use one of Android's activities but I need to build on top of the code so I have to run it inside of the activity class I created. Sorry if this is not clear, ask any questions and i will be more than glad to answer them and clarify.

  • Starting a Java activity in Unity3d Android

    - by Matthew Pavlinsky
I wrote a small Java activity extension of UnityPlayerActivity similar to what is described in the Unity docs. It has a method for displaying a song picking interface using an ACTION_GET_CONTENT intent. I start this activity using startActivityForResult() and it absolutely kills the performance of my Unity game when it is finished, it drops to about .1 FPS afterwords. I've changed removed the onActivityResult function and even tried starting the activity from inside an onKeyDown event in Java to make sure my method of starting the activity from Unity was not the problem. Heres the code in a basic sense: package com.company.product; import com.unity3d.player.UnityPlayerActivity; import com.unity3d.player.UnityPlayer; import android.os.Bundle; import android.util.Log; import android.content.Intent; public class SongPickerActivity extends UnityPlayerActivity { private Intent myIntent; final static int PICK_SONG = 1; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); Log.i("SongPickerActivity", "OnCreate"); myIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT); myIntent.setType("audio/*"); } public void Pick() { Log.i("SongPickerActivity", "Pick"); startActivityForResult(myIntent, PICK_SONG); } @Override protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) { super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data); } } This is causing me a bit more of a headache than it should and I would be thankful for any sort of advice. Does anyone have any experience with using custom activities in Unity Android or any insight on why this is happening or how to resolve this?

  • Android Activity access Unity Classes

I have made my own C# classes in Unity, is there any way I can access these classes from the Android Activity that starts the UnityPlayer? Example: I have a C# class called testClass in Unity: class testClass{ public static string myString="test string"; } From the Android activity in Java I want to access that class: string str=testClass.myString; Is this possible? If so, how? Or is there some other way to do this? In the end I basically want to communicate between my Android activity and the UnityPlayer object. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Ok so I looked at building Android plugins for Unity but this wasn't satisfactory to me. I ended up building a socket client-server interface in Unity with C# and another one in Java for the Android app: So Unity listens on port X and broadcasts on port Y The Android activity listens on port Y and broadcasts on port X This is necessary as both interfaces are running on the same host. So that's how I solved my problem, but I'm open for any suggestions if anyone knows a better way of communicating between the Unityplayer and your app.

  • Part 2: The Customization Lifecycle

    - by volker.eckardt(at)oracle.com
To understand the challenges when working with Customizations better, please allow me to explain my understanding from the Customization Lifecycle.  The starting point is the functional GAP list. Any GAP can lead to a customization (but not have to). The decision is driven by priority, gain, costs, future functionality, accepted workarounds etc. Let's assume the customization has been accepted as such - including estimation. (Otherwise this blog would not have any value)Now the customization life-cycle starts and could look like this:-    Functional specification-    Technical specification-    Technical development-    Functional setup-    Module Test-    System Test-    Integration Test (if required)-    Acceptance Test-    Production mode-    Usage-    10 x Rework-    10 x Retest -    2 x Upgrade-    2 x Upgrade Test-    Usage-    10 x Rework-    10 x Retest -    1 x Upgrade-    1 x Upgrade Test-    Usage-    Review for Retirement-    Accepted Retirement-    De-installationWhat I like to highlight herewith is that any material and documentation you create upfront or during the first phases will usually be used multiple times, partial or complete, will be enhanced, reviewed, retested. The better the quality right from the beginning is, the better we can perform the next steps. What I see very often is the wish to remove a customization, our customers are upgrading and they like to get at least some of the customizations replaced with standard functionality. To be able to support this process best, the customization documentation should contain at least the following key information: What is/are the business process(es) where this customization is used or linked to?Who was involved in the different customization phases? What are the objects comprising the customization? What is the setup necessary for the customization? What setup comes with the customization, what has to be done via other tools or manually? What are the test steps and test results (in all test areas)? What are linked customizations? What is the customization complexity? How is this customization classified?Which technologies were used? How many days were needed to create/test/upgrade the customization?Etc.If all this is available, a replacement / retirement can be done much more efficient and precise, or an estimation and upgrade itself can be executed with much better support. In the following blog entries I will explain in more detail why we suggest tracking such information, by whom this task shall be done and how.Volker Eckardt

Here is another example of one of the latest improvements: Contract Lifecycle Management for Public Sector, or CLM. The latest EBS module geared specifically for the Federal acquisition community. Our existing customers have been asking Oracle for years to upgrade its Advanced Procurement Suite to meet the complex procurement processes of the Federal Government. You asked; we listened. Oracle, with direct input from Federal agencies, subject matter experts, integration partners, and the Federal acquisition community, has expanded and deepened its procurement suite to meet the unique demands of the Federal acquisition community. New benefits/features include: Contract Line Item/Sub-Line Item (CLIN/SLIN) structures Configurable Document Numbering Complex Pricing Contract Types ( as per FAR Part 16) Option lines and exercising of options Incremental Funding capability Support for multiple document types (delivery orders, BPA call orders, awards, agreements, IDIQ contracts) Requisition lines to fund modifications Workload assignment and milestones Contract Action Reporting to FPDS-NG I’ve been conducting many tests over the past few months and have been quite impressed with the depth of features and the seamless integration to Federal Financials, specifically the funds control within the financials. Again, thank you for reading. If you have suggestions for future posts, please leave them in the comments section and I’ll take it from there.

    - by kimilhee
I succeded to call activity from browser link with tag like this. <a href="myapp://launch.myapp.com/activity2?var1=linkClicked">my app</a> of cource I added actvity setting in AndroidManifest.xml like this. <activity android:name=".Activity2" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.VIEW"></action> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT"></category> <category android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE"></category> <data android:host="launch.myapp.com" android:scheme="myapp" android:pathPrefix="/activity2"></data> </intent-filter> </activity> I want to call back from the activity2 with a value. Is there any way to receive some value from the activity that was launched by the browser like above? In other words I want do something like onActivityResult in the browser and get a value from the activity and set the value on the web page which has launched the activity.

  • Reasonable expectation to support new Operating Systems?

    - by Neil N
My company has a desktop app originally developed for Windows XP. The original programmer has since been fired (fired with extreme prejudice I might add). I have fixed the app various times but overall try to avoid it, it is a mess and the only real way to fix it is to completely rewrite it, which could take a year. We have been trying to "forget" about this app, and instead steer clients towards our web version, which is more up to date, easier to maintain, easier to extend, and WAY easier to support. Most clients agree, the web version is just better all around. However we have one client that insists on using the desktop app. The app required a little duct tape to get working on Vista, but now completely breaks on Windows 7. I'm not even sure WHAT all the fixes are to get it working on Win7 (the current time estimate stands at "miracle") but after both installing the RELEASE build, and running the DEBUG build from Visual Studio, the app has errors on nearly every user action, and from what I can see from a high level test run, none of them are related. Since Windows 7 did not exist when this app was developed, is my company really expected to make all the required changes to make it function as "smoothly" as it did on XP?

  • Android Activities UI Persistence

    - by aandroid
I need to have two activities in an Android app that can be switched between each other with UI persistence as follows: Activity A launches Activity B. User triggers some UI changes in Activity B. Activity B returns to Activity A (by a call to onBackPressed() or something similar) Activity A re-launches Activity B. I would like the changes made in step 2 to be visible in step 4. I have tried using the singleInstance activity tag on Activity B to no avail. I would also prefer a more elegant solution than simply writing all object properties to a file or SQLite table. It seems that this behaviour must be easily achievable given that Android does it automatically for calls to onBackPressed() where the parent Activity's UI is saved. Any help is much appreciated.

  • Delivering activity feed items in a moderately scalable way

    - by sotangochips
The application I'm working on has an activity feed where each user can see their friends' activity (much like Facebook). I'm looking for a moderately scalable way to show a given users' activity stream on the fly. I say 'moderately' because I'm looking to do this with just a database (Postgresql) and maybe memcached. For instance, I want this solution to scale to 200k users each with 100 friends. Currently, there is a master activity table that stores the rendered html for the given activity (Jim added a friend, George installed an application, etc.). This master activity table keeps the source user, the html, and a timestamp. Then, there's a separate ('join') table that simply keeps a pointer to the person who should see this activity in their friend feed, and a pointer to the object in the main activity table. So, if I have 100 friends, and I do 3 activities, then the join table will then grow to 300 items. Clearly this table will grow very quickly. It has the nice property, though, that fetching activity to show to a user takes a single (relatively) inexpensive query. The other option is to just keep the main activity table and query it by saying something like: select * from activity where source_user in (1, 2, 44, 2423, ... my friend list) This has the disadvantage that you're querying for users who may never be active, and as your friend list grows, this query can get slower and slower. I see the pros and the cons of both sides, but I'm wondering if some SO folks might help me weigh the options and suggest one way or they other. I'm also open to other solutions, though I'd like to keep it simple and not install something like CouchDB, etc. Many thanks!

  • Database Activity Monitoring Part 1 - An Introduction

We are inundated with new technologies and products designed to help make our organisations safe from hackers and other malcontents. One technology that has gained ground over the past few years is database activity monitoring. It makes sense to protect valuable databases, and by adding an intelligent monitor capable of sniffing out threats an additional level of protection can be gained. But what is database activity monitoring and why should you care?
