  • Efficient Map Overlays in on Android Google Map...

    - by Ahsan
    Hi Friends, I want to do the following and am kind of stuck on these for a few days.... 1) I have used helloItemizedOverlay to add about 150 markers and it gets very very slow.....any idea what to do ? I was thinking about threads....(handler) ... 2) I was trying to draw poly lines ( I have encoded polylines, but have managed to decoded those) that move when I move the map.....(the only solution that I found was for Geopoints to be transformed into screen co-ordinates...which wont move if I move the map !) 3) I was looking for some sort of a timer function that executes a given function, say, every 1 minute or so.... 4) I was also looking for ways to clear the Google map from all the markers/lines etc.... Thanks a lot... :) - ahsan

  • Click GEvent.addListener with jquery

    - by Jason
    Created a google map with GMap2 and put pinpoints on there that open up a balloon with the address when the pinpoint is clicked. I would like users to be able to click text on the page itself and use jquery to open up the corresponding balloon. However I can't figure out the ID to use to call a jquery click event. Basically I've got a store listing down the left side and when user clicks store name I want it to open up the corresponding balloon. GEvent.addListener(marker_500, "click", function () { map.openInfoWindowHtml(point, myHtml); } Any idea what element tied to this click event is? Tried $("#marker_500").click(); And that doesn't work. Also tried alerting $(this).attr('id'); inside the click function and that is undefined. thanks jason

  • "Give with Bing" - Help raise money for Sports relief while searching for whatever you want

    - by Testas
    While Sport Relief drives fundraising by challenging people to do physical activities such as running a mile, we’re introducing the ‘Bing Search Mile,’ which gives people the ability to search using Bing and raise money for charity. For every 10 searches made, Bing.com will donate 5p to Sport Relief 2010, enabling you, and your friends and family, to raise money just by searching with Bing until the end of March. With the average mile taking about 10 minutes to run, in the same time, you can make up to 150 searches online - that’s 75p raised for a good cause per ‘search mile’. And while you’re at it,  why not step it up a gear and aim to complete a ‘Search Mile’ each day or even a ‘Search Marathon’ over the 5 week campaign with your colleagues, friends and family? How to get involved: 1.      Visit GiveWithBing.com and download the Official Sport Relief Bing Counter. Once downloaded, the Sport Relief counter will count all the searches you do on Bing from that point on.  2.      Now that you’re registered (and signed in), invite your friends, family, colleagues or classmates to join in the fundraising with you – GiveWithBing.com automatically generates an email explaining how it works for you to send them – the more people who search with you, the more money you raise. People can also register a school 3.      Run your ‘search mile’ every day and watch how your searches turn into life-changing cash for charity, with every 10 searches equalling 5p for Sport Relief. You can check your progress by visiting your individual page (more info here).  This is such a positive initiative and I challenge everyone in the UK to invite their key contacts to be part of Give with Bing.   Chris

  • Add Silverlight Bing Maps Control to Windows Mobile 7 application

    - by Jacob
    I know the bits just came out today, but one of the first things I want to do with the newly released Windows Mobile 7 SDK is put a map up on the screen and mess around. I've downloaded the latest version of the Silverlight Maps Control and added the references to my application. As a matter of fact, the VS 2010 design view of the MainPage.xaml shows the map control after adding the namespace and placing the control. I'm using the provided VS 2010 Express version that comes with the Win Mobile 7 SDK and have just used the New Project - Windows Phone Application template. When I try to build I get two warnings related to the Microsoft.Maps.MapControl dll's. Warning 1 The primary reference "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl, Version=1.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=498d0d22d7936b73, processorArchitecture=MSIL" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the framework assembly "System.Windows.Browser, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e" which could not be resolved in the currently targeted framework. "Silverlight,Version=v4.0,Profile=WindowsPhone". To resolve this problem, either remove the reference "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl, Version=1.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=498d0d22d7936b73, processorArchitecture=MSIL" or retarget your application to a framework version which contains "System.Windows.Browser, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e". Warning 2 The primary reference "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl.Common, Version=1.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=498d0d22d7936b73, processorArchitecture=MSIL" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the framework assembly "System.Windows.Browser, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e" which could not be resolved in the currently targeted framework. I'm leaning towards some way of adding the System.Windows.Browser to the targeted framework version. But I'm not even sure if that is possible. To be more specific; I'm looking for a way to get the Silverlight Maps Control up on a Windows Phone 7 series application. If possible. Thanks.

  • Google maps KM bounds box reapplying itself on map zoom

    - by creminsn
    I have a map in which I apply a custom overlay using KMbox overlay to signify where I think the users general point of interest lies. What I want is to display this map to the user and allow them to click on the map to give me an exact location match of their POI. This all works fine except for when the user clicks on the map and changes the zoom of the map. Here's my code to add the marker to the map. function addMarker(location) { if(KmOverlay) { KmOverlay.remove(); } if(last_marker) { last_marker.setMap(null); } marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: location, map: map }); // Keep track for future unsetting... last_marker = marker; } And to show the map I have this function. function show_map(lt, ln, zoom, controls, marker) { var ltln = new google.maps.LatLng(lt, ln); var vars = { zoom: zoom, center: ltln, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP, navigationControl: controls, navigationControlOptions: {style: google.maps.NavigationControlStyle.ZOOM_PAN} , mapTypeControl: false, scaleControl: false, scrollwheel: false }; map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), vars); KmOverlay = new KmBox(map, new google.maps.LatLng(lat, lon), KmOpts); var totalBounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds(); totalBounds.union(KmOverlay.getBounds()); google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) { addMarker(event.latLng); }); } I have a working example at the following link here

  • Bing map silverlight control content rendering issue when page gets refresh

    - by M.Afnan
    When Bing map control loads for first time on any browser all pushpin on map are visible. Bing map control renders perfectly. Then I refresh browser it create rendering issue some custom pushpin on map gets disappeared. This behavior continues with pushpin. Pushpin are (.png) images and I am not using default bing map thumbtacks. May be it is issue of browser caching content or Bing map control rendering issues on various browsers. Waiting for your response.

    - by Zinx
    Hi All, I have a small application in java which searches images using bing image search. The problem I am facing is that, its getting only first 20 images. • Bing Map on Windows Phone - add click events to pushpins; display more details

    - by Will Gill
    I have a WP Phone app using a Bing Map control. I have an array of objects, and each object has a location. I iterate the array to place the pins on the map (see below). I have a touch event bound to each pin to allow the user to tap the pin to start an action. Now - I would like, on tap, to show information from the object that relates to that pin to be shown in a textbox. How can I retrieve the object from the array that corresponds to the pushpin that was tapped/clicked? foreach (wikiResult result in arrayResults) { double lat = double.Parse(result.Latitude, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); double lng = double.Parse(result.Longitude, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); statusTextBlock.Text = result.Latitude + " " + result.Longitude + " " + lat + " " + lng; GeoCoordinate d = new GeoCoordinate(lat, lng); Pushpin pin; pin = new Pushpin(); pin.Location = d; pin.Content = result.Name; pin.MouseLeftButtonUp += new MouseButtonEventHandler(pin1_MouseLeftButtonUp); myMap.Children.Add(pin); } void pin1_MouseLeftButtonUp(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { //display the content from the object in a text box } Many thanks in advance!

  • Merging Two KML Files to Display Them with Different Marker Icons on Google Maps

    - by Maxim Z.
    Let's say that I have two spreadsheets with addresses. I uploaded these spreadsheets into Google Fusion Tables, geocoded the addresses, and exported the results as KML files. Now, I want to take these two KML files and merge them, while maintaining the location data and using it to map the points with Google Maps. Well, I found a way to easily merge the KML files: import both of them into a "My Maps" map with Google Maps! However, my problem is this: when I do that, all of the locations in my data have the same marker icon on the map. From past experience, I know that these markers can be somehow defined inside the KML files. Is it possible to combine these two KML files while giving one's points one marker icon and the other's points another marker icon? Just in case my question is confusing, what I mean, is giving the first set of points blue markers, for example, and the other set of points red markers, so that they can be overlayed.

  • How to Invoke iPhone Maps for Directions with Current Location as Start Address

    - by eriaac
    Hi all. I know it's possible to start the iPhone maps application by calling openURL on a google maps URL with parameters saddr and daddr with location strings or LatLong (see ex. below), but I'm wondering if it's possible to make the start address be the "Current Location" maps bookmark so that I can use the maps app's location handling code. My Google search has been pretty fruitless. ex: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat: @"http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=%@&daddr=%@", myLatLong, latlong]]]; Except with something to invoke the current location bookmark in place of myLatLong. Thanks!

  • infoWindow position and click/unclick controls - controlling KML groundoverlays

    - by wendysmith
    I've made a lot of progress on this project (with earlier help with forum member Eric Badger, thanks!!) but I now need help with fine-tuning the infoWindow. Presently, you checkbox one of the historic maps choices -- the map appears as a ground overlay, and if you click it, you get info about the map which appears in a div (yellow area at the bottom). I want the info to appear in a more traditional window on the map, just to the center-right of the overlay map. It should have a close-option (X at the top corner?) Also, if you uncheck one of the boxes -- the overlay map disappears but the info window should close as well.  As you see my javascript skills are very limited. I would very much appreciate your help with this. Here's the test webpage: Here's the script: function showphilpottsmap(philpottsmapcheck) { if (philpottsmapcheck.checked == true) { philpottsmap.setMap(map); } else { philpottsmap.setMap(null); } } function showbrownemap(brownemapcheck) { if (brownemapcheck.checked == true) { brownemap.setMap(map); } else { brownemap.setMap(null); } } function showchewettmap(chewettmapcheck) { if (chewettmapcheck.checked == true) { chewettmap.setMap(map); } else { chewettmap.setMap(null); } } function showjamescanemap(jamescanemapcheck) { if (jamescanemapcheck.checked == true) { jamescanemap.setMap(map); } else { jamescanemap.setMap(null); } } var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow(); function openIW(FTevent) { infoWindow.setContent(FTevent.infoWindowHtml); infoWindow.setPosition(FTevent.latLng); infoWindow.setOptions({ content: FTevent.infoWindowHtml, position: FTevent.latLng, pixelOffset: FTevent.pixelOffset }); infoWindow.open(map); } var philpottsmap; var brownemap; var chewettmap; var jamescanemap; function initialize() { var mylatlng = new google.maps.LatLng(43.65241745, -79.393923); var myOptions = { zoom: 11, center: mylatlng, streetViewControl: false, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP, }; map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions); //End map parameters brownemap = new google.maps.KmlLayer('http://wendysmithtoronto.com/mapping/1851map_jdbrowne.kml', {preserveViewport:true, suppressInfoWindows:true}); google.maps.event.addListener(brownemap, 'click', function(kmlEvent) { document.getElementById('sidebarinfo').innerHTML = kmlEvent.featureData.description; }); chewettmap = new google.maps.KmlLayer('http://wendysmithtoronto.com/mapping/1802mapwilliamchewett.kml', {preserveViewport:true, suppressInfoWindows:true}); google.maps.event.addListener(chewettmap, 'click', function(kmlEvent) { document.getElementById('sidebarinfo').innerHTML = kmlEvent.featureData.description; }); philpottsmap = new google.maps.KmlLayer('http://wendysmithtoronto.com/mapping/1818map_phillpotts.kml', {preserveViewport:true, suppressInfoWindows:true}); google.maps.event.addListener(philpottsmap, 'click', function(kmlEvent) { document.getElementById('sidebarinfo').innerHTML = kmlEvent.featureData.description; }); jamescanemap = new google.maps.KmlLayer('http://wendysmithtoronto.com/mapping/1842jamescanemapd.kml', {preserveViewport:true, suppressInfoWindows:true}); google.maps.event.addListener(jamescanemap, 'click', function(kmlEvent) { document.getElementById('sidebarinfo').innerHTML = kmlEvent.featureData.description; }); } Thanks very much!   • Closing InfoWindow with Google Maps API V3

    - by Oscar Godson
    I've seen the other posts, but they dont have the markers being looped through dynamically like mine. How do I create an event that will close the infowindow when another marker is clicked on using the following code? $(function(){ var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(45.522015,-122.683811); var settings = { zoom: 10, center: latlng, disableDefaultUI:false, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.SATELLITE }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), settings); $.getJSON('api',function(json){ for (var property in json) { if (json.hasOwnProperty(property)) { var json_data = json[property]; var the_marker = new google.maps.Marker({ title:json_data.item.headline, map:map, clickable:true, position:new google.maps.LatLng( parseFloat(json_data.item.geoarray[0].latitude), parseFloat(json_data.item.geoarray[0].longitude) ) }); function buildHandler(map, marker, content) { return function() { var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({ content: '<div class="marker"><h1>'+content.headline+'</h1><p>'+content.full_content+'</p></div>' }); infowindow.open(map, marker); }; } new google.maps.event.addListener(the_marker, 'click',buildHandler(map, the_marker, {'headline':json_data.item.headline,'full_content':json_data.item.full_content})); } } }); });

  • Display tracert on Google or Bing Maps

    - by WebDevHobo
    Is there a program of perhaps website that can display a list of ip-adresses on Google or Bing maps? For instance, if I do tracert -d www.youtube.com, I'll get a bunch of IP-addresses, displaying the path my request travelled. I'd think it funny to see this on a map, but I find it hard to enter all these IP-addresses manually. Does anybody know a program that can do this?

  • jquery: how can i load the Google Maps API via ajax?

    - by Haroldo
    Before you reply: this is not as straight foward as you'd expect! I have a 'show on map' button which when clicked opens a dialogbox/lightbox with the google map in. I don't want to load the maps api on pageload, just when a map has been requested This is php file the "show on map" button puts into the dialog box: <div id="map_canvas"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { //google maps stuff var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(<?php echo $coords ?>); var options = { zoom: 14, center: latlng, mapTypeControl: false, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map_canvas'), options); var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: new google.maps.LatLng(<?php echo $coords ?>), map: map }); }) </script> I've been trying to load the API before ajaxing in the dialog like this: $('img.map').click(function(){ var rel = $(this).attr('rel'); $.getScript('http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false', function(){ $.fn.colorbox({ href:rel }) }); }) this doesn't seem to work :( i've also tried: adding <script src="http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false"></script> to the ajax file type="text/javascript" running $.getScript('http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false'); on doc.ready the problem the browser seems to be redirected to the api.js file - you see a white screen
