  • Does anyone know how to detect whether a Windows Service is running through Java

    - by GKelly
    There's plenty of information on running Java apps as services, but I need to know how to detect whether a windows service is running or not. Does anyone know how??? At the DOS prompt, I can run: tasklist /svc|findstr "NonRunningService" echo Return code for N onRunningService is %ERRORLEVEL% tasklist /svc|findstr "RunningService" echo Return code for RunningService is %ERRORLEVEL% I get the following: Return code for NonRunningService is 1 Return code for RunningService is 0 In code, I have: int retCode = Runtime.getRuntime.exec("tasklist /svc|findstr \"NonRunningService\"").waitFor(); System.out.println("Return code for NonRunningService is " + retCode); retCode = Runtime.getRuntime.exec("tasklist /svc|findstr \"RunningService\"").waitFor(); System.out.println("Return code for RunningService is " + retCode); I get the following output Return code for NonRunningService is 1 Return code for RunningService is 1 According to the JavaDocs, the waitFor() should block until the process finishes, and give me the exit value of the process. I've also tried using the Process/ProcessBuilder command line calls: //'tasklist /nh /fi "SERVICES eq RunningService"' will return a line for // each running service of the requested type. Process p1 = new ProcessBuilder("tasklist", "/nh", "/fi" "SERVICES eq RunningService").start(); p1.waitFor(); BufferedReader is = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p1.getInputStream())); String line = is.readLine(); System.out.println("Service - " + line); System.out.println("Running? ", (line==null?"No":"Yes"); gives: Service - Running? No even when I get lines in the output at the command line!

  • improving data extraction from text file in Java

    - by owca
    I have CSV file with sample data in this form : 220 30 255 0 0 Javascript 200 20 0 255 128 Thinking in java , where the first column is height, second thickness, next three are rgb values for color and last one is title. All need to be treated as separate variables. I have already written my own solution for this, but I'm wondering if there are no better/easier/shorter ways of doing this. Extracted data will then be used to create Book object, throw every Book into array of books and print it with swing. Here's the code : private static Book[] addBook(Book b, Book[] bookTab){ Book[] tmp = bookTab; bookTab = new Book[tmp.length+1]; for(int i = 0; i < tmp.length; i++){ bookTab[i] = tmp[i]; } bookTab[tmp.length] = b; return bookTab; } public static void main(String[] args) { Book[] books = new Book[0]; try { BufferedReader file = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("K:\\books.txt")); String s; while ((s = file.readLine()) != null) { int hei, thick, R, G, B; String tit; hei = Integer.parseInt(s.substring(0, 3).replaceAll(" ", "")); thick = Integer.parseInt(s.substring(4, 6).replaceAll(" ", "")); R = Integer.parseInt(s.substring(10, 13).replaceAll(" ", "")); G = Integer.parseInt(s.substring(14, 17).replaceAll(" ", "")); B = Integer.parseInt(s.substring(18, 21).replaceAll(" ", "")); tit = s.substring(26); System.out.println(tyt+wys+grb+R+G+B); books = addBook(new Book(wys, grb, R, G, B, tyt),books); } file.close(); } catch (IOException e) { //do nothing } }

  • call lynx from jsp script

    - by Piero
    Hi, I have an execute(String cmd) in a jsp script that calls the exec method from the Runtime class. It works when I call a local command, like a php script stored on the server. for example: /usr/bin/php /path/to/php/script arg1 arg2 So I guess my execute command is ok, since it is working with that. Now when I try to call lynx, the text-based web browser, it does not work. If I call it in a terminal, it works fine: /usr/bin/lynx -dump -accept_all_cookies 'http://www.someurl.net/?arg1=1&arg2=2' But when I call this from my execute command, nothing happens... Any idea why? This is my execute method: public String execute(String cmd){ Runtime r = Runtime.getRuntime(); Process p = null; String res = ""; try { p = r.exec(cmd); InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr); String line = null; //out.println(res); while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { res += line; } p.waitFor(); } catch (Exception e) { res += e; } System.out.println(p.exitValue()); return res; }

  • Java Reflection, java.lang.IllegalAccessException Error

    - by rubby
    Hi all, My goal is : Third class will read the name of the class as String from console.Upon reading the name of the class, it will automatically and dynamically (!) generate that class and call its writeout method. If that class is not read from input, it will not be initialized. And I am taking java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class deneme.class3 can not access a member of class java.lang.Object with modifiers "protected" error. And i don't know how i can fix it.. Can anyone help me? import java.io.*; import java.lang.reflect.*; class class3 { public void run() { try { BufferedReader reader= new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in)); String line=reader.readLine(); Class c1 = Class.forName("java.lang.String"); Object obj = new Object(); Class c2 = obj.getClass(); Method writeout = null; for( Method mth : c2.getDeclaredMethods() ) { writeout = mth; break; } Object o = c2.newInstance(); writeout.invoke( o ); } catch(Exception ee) { System.out.println("ERROR! • Java InputReader. Detect if file being read is binary?

    - by Trizicus
    I had posted a question in regards to this code. I found that JTextArea does not support the binary type data that is loaded. So my new question is how can I go about detecting the 'bad' file and canceling the file I/O and telling the user that they need to select a new file? class Open extends SwingWorker<Void, String> { File file; JTextArea jta; Open(File file, JTextArea jta) { this.file = file; this.jta = jta; } @Override protected Void doInBackground() throws Exception { BufferedReader br = null; try { br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(file)); String line = br.readLine(); while(line != null) { publish(line); line = br.readLine(); } } finally { try { br.close(); } catch (IOException e) { } } return null; } @Override protected void process(List<String> chunks) { for(String s : chunks) jta.append(s + "\n"); } }

  • Android: Cannot get the httpPost params but can get the httpGet from php

    - by jjLin
    Here is my android code to send request: // defaultHttpClient DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(serverUrl); List<NameValuePair> params = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("abc", "abc2")); httpPost.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(params)); HttpResponse httpResponse = httpClient.execute(httpPost); HttpEntity httpEntity = httpResponse.getEntity(); InputStream is = null; is = httpEntity.getContent(); BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader( is, "UTF-8"), 8); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); String line = null; while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) { sb.append(line + "\n"); } is.close(); String json = ""; json = sb.toString(); Log.d("JSON", "JSON is:" + json); and here is my php code to get the request: <?php echo $_POST['abc']; ?> When I run the application, the string json is nothing. I expect to get JSON is:abc2 Then I change the some code, in android part: HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(serverUrl); change to: HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost(serverUrl + "?abc=abc3"); in php part: <?php echo $_GET['abc']; ?> This time, the string json in logcat is JSON is:abc3. It is correct!! I have tried lots of time, but seems cannot send HttpPost request with params. Any one can help me to find out what wrongs with my code??

  • Newb Question: passing objects in java?

    - by Adam Outler
    Hello, I am new at java. I am doing the following: Read from file, then put data into a variable. checkToken = lineToken.nextToken(); processlinetoken() } But then when I try to process it... public static void readFile(String fromFile) throws IOException { BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(fromFile)); String line = null; while ((line=reader.readLine()) != null ) { if (line.length() >= 2) { StringTokenizer lineToken = new StringTokenizer (line); checkToken = lineToken.nextToken(); processlinetoken() ...... But here's where I come into a problem. public static void processlinetoken() checkToken=lineToken.nextToken(); } it fails out. Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problem: The method nextToken() is undefined for the type String at testread.getEngineLoad(testread.java:243) at testread.readFile(testread.java:149) at testread.main(testread.java:119) so how do I get this to work? It seems to pass the variable, but nothing after the . works.

  • Java split giving opposite order of arabic characters

    - by MuhammadA
    I am splitting the following string using \\| in java (android) using the IntelliJ 12 IDE. Everything is fine except the last part, somehow the split picks them up in the opposite order : As you can see the real positioning 34,35,36 is correct and according to the string, but when it gets picked out into split part no 5 its in the wrong order, 36,35,34 ... Any way I can get them to be in the right order? My Code: public ArrayList<Book> getBooksFromDatFile(Context context, String fileName) { ArrayList<Book> books = new ArrayList<Book>(); try { // load csv from assets InputStream is = context.getAssets().open(fileName); try { BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is)); String line; while ((line = reader.readLine()) != null) { String[] RowData = line.split("\\|"); books.add(new Book(RowData[0], RowData[1], RowData[2], RowData[3], RowData[4], RowData[5])); } } catch (IOException ex) { Log.e(TAG, "Error parsing csv file!"); } finally { try { is.close(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e(TAG, "Error closing input stream!"); } } } catch (IOException ex) { Log.e(TAG, "Error reading .dat file from assets!"); } return books; }

I'm thinking it has to do with my content type. Or maybe the way I'm uploading?

  • How to avoid shell execution of a Process?

    - by adeel amin
    When I start a process like process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("gnome-terminal");, it starts shell execution. I want to stop shell execution and want to redirect I/O from process, can anybody tell how I can do this? My code is: public void start_process() { try { process= Runtime.getRuntime().exec("gnome-terminal"); pw= new PrintWriter(process.getOutputStream(),true); br=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(process.getInputStream())); err=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(process.getErrorStream())); } catch (Exception ioe) { System.out.println("IO Exception-> " + ioe); } } public void execution_command() { if(check==2) { try { boolean flag=thread.isAlive(); if(flag==true) thread.stop(); Thread.sleep(30); thread = new MyReader(br,tbOutput,err,check); thread.start(); }catch(Exception ex){ JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, ex.getMessage()+"1"); } } else { try { Thread.sleep(30); thread = new MyReader(br,tbOutput,err,check); thread.start(); check=2; }catch(Exception ex){ JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, ex.getMessage()+"1"); } } } private void jButton3ActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) { // TODO add your handling code here: command=tfCmd.getText().toString().trim(); pw.println(command); execution_command(); } When I enter some command in textfield and press execute button, nothing is displayed on my output textarea, how I can stop shell execution and redirect input and output?

  • system out output for double numbers in a java program

    - by Nikunj Chauhan
    I have a program where I am generating two double numbers by adding several input prices from a file based on a condition. String str; double one = 0.00; double two = 0.00; BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(myFile)); while((str = in.readLine()) != null){ if(str.charAt(21) == '1'){ one += Double.parseDouble(str.substring(38, 49) + "." + str.substring(49, 51)); } else{ two += Double.parseDouble(str.substring(38, 49) + "." + str.substring(49, 51)); } } in.close(); System.out.println("One: " + one); System.out.println("Two: " + two); The output is like: One: 2773554.02 Two: 6.302505836000001E7 Question: None of the input have more then two decimals in them. The way one and two are getting calculated exactly same. Then why the output format is like this. What I am expecting is: One: 2773554.02 Two: 63025058.36 Why the printing is in two different formats ? I want to write the outputs again to a file and thus there must be only two digits after decimal.

  • Why does Jcreator show iIlegal start of expression?

    - by Inusual Whisper Sinclair
    I am new at programming and currently in our classes we are learning java. I am trying to create a routine in which I need to use String variables only. Below it is the code in which I am working with: public static void main(String[] args) throws java.io.IOException { BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System. in )); PrintStream out = System.out; String hair.equals("damagedHair"); cutHair(marvin); cleanHair(michelle); for (int i = 0; i < 2; i++) { static void cutHair(String marvin) { String cabello; marvin.equals(hair); if (marvin.equals("damagedHair")) { cabello.equals("newHaircut"); result(hair); } static void cleanHair(String michelle) { String hair; michelle.equals(hair); if (michelle.equals(newHaircut)) { hair.equals("putShampooAndConditioner"); result(hair); } static void result(String pHair) {; PrintStream out = System.out; out.println("============="); out.println(pHair); out.println("============="); } } Jcreator is giving me an error that says Illegal start of expression and also java 50 error ';' expected. I am not sure why is this coming up and I am a little confused as to whether I am doing something I am not supposed to and how to correct it. Sorry about the double posting, this is the right message. Need some help from you guys to figure this out. Thanks in advanced!
