  • Changing IP on Domain Controller?

    I'm considering changing the IP on a 2008 Domain Controller, anything that I should be aware of to look out for? Will be doing this on a Saturday night to, leases renew every 24 hours so by Monday morning all the machines will have valid DHCP leases with correct DNS servers. Have a list of all machines on static IP so I know to update them while I'm at it.

  • Changing Physical Path gives blank homepage

    I have two websites ASP Classic - www.company.com and www.companytesting.com. At this time of year, company.com is pointed to a folder called website2012 and companytesting.com is pointing to a folder called website2013. The contents of those two folders are almost identical, just minor changes for our season change (which I was supposed to do today - lol). Up until a couple of weeks ago, I was running Windows Server 2003. To update the "live" website, I'd make a copy of the test site folder, and rename it website2013R1, and point the test site there, then point the live site at website2012. We now have Windows Server 2008 R2 64. (I had someone migrate the websites to the new server for me.) The companytesting.com site, when I pointed it to website2013R1, worked fine. The company.com site, when I pointed it to website2013 (which worked just before, for the companytesting.com site) gives an empty page. (i.e. view source = nothing there.) There is nothing in the failed request log when this happens. I can use the Explore button/link (upper right) in IIS7.5 and see all of the files there. If I use the browse button (either in general or on the index.asp page) I get the blank page again. One weirdness about how these are set up is that companytesting.com uses a login (which I think is windows authentication - it's simply a single username and password for staff, and to keep the GoogleBots out of it). Obviously, company.com does not. But redirecting the to website2013r1 kept the login in place. (So I'm not absolutely clear whether that's attached to the folder or to the site. Hitting the company.com site after changing the path did not yield a password request.) The permissions on the folders all seem to be the same, but obviously, I'm missing something. Why isn't changing the physical path working? As is probably obvious, I'm not knowledgeable about servers. I did OK in 2003, but since it's not my main task and I'm buried right now, I have barely looked at 2008. So I may have really stupid questions when you ask me to check something.

  • Internet Explorer - selected language is changing to English when opening a new window

    When opening a new window in IE8 or IE9 (doesn't matter if using a link or window.open), my selected keyboard language is changing to English (doesn't matter what was the previous selection, tried it with a few different languages). This doesn't happen for me in Chrome or Firefox (all the browsers are installed in their English version), and I tested it in Windows 7 and Windows 2008R2. Is there any way to avoid that? If there isn't - supposing the new window is within my website or application, is there a way to change it back?

    Windows keeps saying my computer is low on memory and changing the aero scheme to basic its really annoying I have 16gb of ram and 2 3gb 6970 gpu's i have no issues at all with anything expect from this my motherboard has a intel hd onboard gpu i think its something to do with this but all my settings are correct. Is there anyway to tell it not to change it without asking me or to tell it how much memory is too low its driving me mad.

    My developer believes that s3fs is changing my bucket's permissions. Is this possible? I want my bucket to be public, but it keeps reverting back to private. Here's my fstab. s3fs#production /mnt/production fuse use_cache=/tmp,use_rrs=1,allow_other,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0 My developer mentioned the "-o default_acl (default="private")" option. The documentation refers to "canned acl", but I don't understand what these are.

This account is one of 2 generic accounts, one for students and one for Teachers on Call (TOC). The users are created, but I'm not deploying the server yet. When looking through Google, I came across setting the maximum password age, but not setting the minumum password age (I'd be happy with a 5 year password...)

  • Changing default playback device on Windows 8

    Previously, on Vista and Windows 7, changing the Default Playback device would occur instantly. For example, audio is coming out of my speakers, I right click the Volume Control, click Playback Devices then I select another device and click Set Default. Audio would be transferred immediately. Unfortunately, now, with Windows 8, I need to kill whatever process what outputting sound, and restart it for the change to take effect. Is there something that can be done about it so that changes are taken into account immediately?

    For automated testing (using Hudson) I have a script that generates a bunch of emulators for many combinations of Android OS version, screen resolution, screen density and language. This works fine, except for the language part. I need to find a way to change the Android system locale automatically. Here's some approaches I can think of, in order of preference: Extracting/editing/repacking a QEMU image directly before starting the emulator Running some sort of system-locale-changing APK on the emulator after startup Changing the locale settings on the emulator filesystem after startup Changing the locale settings in some SQLite DB on the emulator after startup Running a key sequence (via the emulator's telnet interface) that would open the settings app and change the locale Manually starting the emulator for each platform version, changing the locale by hand in the settings, saving it and archiving the images for later deployment Any ideas whether this can be done, either via the above methods or otherwise? Do you know where locale settings are persisted to/read from by the system? Solution: Thanks to dtmilano's info about the relevant properties, and some further investigation on my part, I came up with a solution even better and simpler simpler than all the ideas above!     We have xp workstations connected onto a small business server acting as active directory/isa firewall/proxy (no dhcp). Is there a reason that after installing a 2nd firewall on the network (same subnet etc), that changing the default gateway on the workstations isnt sufficient to route inet traffic through the new firewall? A freshly setup linux box connects straight on to the alternate firewall with just ip, default gateway. dns settings. Will having ISA still active on the network confuse the process? Are there further config settings deeper down in windows that need attention? Any ideas pointers on this would be appreciated? Other info: Firewalls tried: Smoothwall and Ipcop; small ethernet netwoork 40 pcs; can ping to new firwalls from workstations; activating web proxy on new firewall and reconfiguring workstation browser works fine; Point of 2nd firewall is lack of some necessary features on ISA for a linux app; Would be nice to have some redundancy to though

  • Ubuntu - changing another users file permissions

    I have setup Ubuntu as a development web server - however I am experiencing problems with file permissions. I have 2 users, user1 and user2, and they both have been put into the group www-data. I have uploaded a new file with user1 so the file is owned by user1 and the www-data group. At present if user2 wants to modify the permissions on that file to say 777 - they cannot. Is there a way to allow any users within a group to be able to modifiy permissions etc.. on this file? I have tried changing umask to 002 and a few other combinations that were suggested without luck.

I have gone to the key preferences and tried changing PyDev toggle comment to Ctrl+Shift+/ but it doesn't work. It must be picking that behavior from somewhere else.   • Url rewriting stops working after changing default port on iis7

    I have migrated the IIS6 webserver 2003 websites to IIS7 webserver 2008 using msdeploy tool. Application pool setting are changed with "Enable 32-bit Applications=true", "Managed_Pipeline_Mode=Classic","Identity=NetworkService" Framework=v1.1/2.0. All the websites are working fine on default port along with url rewriting migrated from iis6. When I start the webserver on port other than default port by changing bindings, url rewriting stops workings and get 404 error in logs. I think I don't have to change the handler mapping cause I am running it in classic mode. How can I troubleshoot this?

    I am having an issue with Windows 7 changing the boot order everytime I start up. I have 4 partitions: boot linux windows. Grub is installed on the boot, and boots up both operating systems fine, however when I boot to Windows the bootable partition is changed to Windows and the MBR is rewritten. How do I stop this? Its rather annoying to have to boot, chroot and fix this problem everytime. I also don't want to use the Windows boot select.

I believe there should be advantages to having a single one (I hope :) but also think that changing it on one of the machines will do something - I'm just not sure what exactly.   • My PC becomes very slow after changing page file in XP.

    Hello there, I have 5 partitions in my computer (C, D, E, F, G), and C: is the system partition. Recently I changed the page file setting to use 768-768 MB from the G:, without changing the C: default value (256-512 MB). Everything runs fine until I rebooted my PC. I unset the G:'s page file before I rebooted my PC. Well, after I rebooted my PC, my XP becomes VERY slow. damn slow. I don't know how long I wasted to wait for the boot screen to disappear. (Well, maybe about 1-3 mins. Normally it is under 10 secs) and when I tried to enter the desktop, it just like using a computer without a VGA card, or VGA driver installed. Very slow. Any suggestions to fix this problem? Because I hate to repair-install my XP =\ Thanks.

    I looking for ip changer what is faster than PROXY (i tried Elite Proxy Switcher + Firefox add-on, but it's too slow. I set automatic switching to 4 sec and yes he change the ip every 4 sec however it's not enough because it loads pages very slowly.) Secondly I tried the TOR Project but this is not good..because the TOR would be nice and working good however he needs more than 10 seconds, a new identity and it's not to good for me because i want to change my ip lass than 10 sec. So I find the solution. This is IPfucker alias ipFlood (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox.../ipflood/) But it does not work on all sites unfortunately...because this is just simulation "Simulate the use of a series of proxy changing at each new connection.". Anyone knows a solution to the problem? Is there an alternative (VPS, Proxy, TOR)? Thanks in advice.
