  In the first tutorial for GameMaker (catch the clown), I want to set the direction of the clown after the collision with the wall. I want to do it by pressing the wall object with the mouse (before the collision, to set the angle parameter). For example by pressing only once the wall object it would change the clown's direction after collision by 45 degrees, twice by 90 degrees, and so on. How can I do that?

  I launched a website a couple of years ago, bright eyed and bushy tailed, with dreams of conquering the world. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. Now, that I am a bit older and wiser, I have spent some money on branding and creating more quality content etc, I am rebranding and relaunching the site with a new domain name. Although the traffic on the old site is laughable (i.e. non-existent), there are a few pages of good information on there and I don't want to lose any "juice" those pages may have gained because web crawlers have been seeing it for a few years now. Ok, the upshot of all that is this: I want to change my domain name from xyz.com to abc.com. I am maintaining the same friendly urls I had before, only the domanin name part of the url will change, so that any traffic coming to the old page will be forwarded/redirected? to the new page seamlessly. How do I go about achieving this (i.e. what are the steps I need to carry out, and to minimize any "disruption" to any credibility the existing site has with Googlebot etc? I am running Apache 2.x on a headless Linux (Ubuntu) server.

• Changing the Default Windows Phone 7 Deployment Target In Visual Studio 2010

  After you download and install the January 2011 Windows Phone update, you will notice one annoying thing. The default deployment target for Windows Phone Projects in Visual Studio changes to Windows Phone 7 Device. Before the update, it defaulted to the Emulator. I found this extremely annoying as I’m more than likely going to test with the emulator before putting it on my actual device. Now to make things fair, Microsoft told you they were going to switch the default and even provided a solution, but you will have to check a tiny paragraph in the release notes. The good news is that its very easy to do: Simply navigate out to : %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Phone Tools\CoreCon See the folder named, “10.0”? Go ahead and delete it. Now, the folder will be completely empty and if you fire up Visual Studio 2010 you will see we are now defaulting to the Emulator again. In my opinion, this should have been left at Emulator.   I'm the lead on a project that has been underway for about a year and a half. Two of us have been working on it. One is the database guy. I'm the javascript/ui guy. Which is to say, essentially no overlap in code knowledge. Here's the thing. Someone is about to offer me a sweet job with a nearly 30% bump in pay. Though I am perfectly happy with my current job and love the project, the new one would be better and I can't imagine saying no. The big problem is that my project is supposed to go into production starting in a few weeks. I will consider the new guys to have disqualified the new job by being bad people who would ruin my life if they won't cooperate and let me start after deployment. Since they seem like decent, ethical people, I don't expect that to be a problem. The current project will be brutalized by my absence. I take some comfort in the fact that I have emphatically requested an understudy for at least six months. That puts a little of the responsibility on the boss's head, but still, it's going to be a really bad thing. What do others of you do when you are a critical to a project when it's time to move on? Do I owe any obligation to stick around even though something better shows up? I know my spouse would object if I found someone else. Does that apply to work? I do have an understudy now, though he's fresh out of college. He's not going to replace me anytime soon. It's a small shop and the boss is going to be crushed. I am traumatized in anticipation of telling him and feel guilty about the practical consequences. I'm looking for some solace and some strategy about how to deal with this transition. • Ubuntu 12.04 LTS - Black Screen at boot After changing Nvidia Driver

  2 days ego i updated my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to latest updates but i ignored Grub Updating because I thought it will clear my grub settings (I'm so noob!). After restart every things was right, the Ubuntu started normally and every things was working well except graphic which had problem before update. I had the experimental driver before but I changed it to the current-update version. After restart Ubuntu stock on black screen. I tried to reinstall Nvidia driver from recovery but it not worked. Then i used Update Grub in recovery, it not worked too but i see this line on screen at boot: at this time it stops and keyboard not working, but when I push the power button it shows these lines and it will shutdown. OK finally I made it start with older kernel (3.5.0-28-generic). Now how can I keep this kernel or fix Ubuntu to work with new kernel? Should I reinstall Nvidia driver? Which version should I use?

• git changing head not reflected on co-dev's branch

  Basically, we undid history. I know this is bad, and I am already committed to avoiding this at all costs in the future, but what is done is done. Anyway, I issued a git push origin <1_week_old_sha:master to undo some bad commits. I then deleted a buggered branch called release(which had also received some bad commits) from remote and then branched a new release off master. I pushed this to remote. So basically, remote master & release are clones and just how I want them. The issue is if I clone the repo anew(or work in my current repo) everything looks great....but when my co-devs delete their release branch and create a new one based off the new remote release I created, they still see all the old junk I tried to remove. I feel this has to do with some local .git files mistaking the new branch release for the old release. Any thoughts? Thanks.

• Ubuntu 12.04 Freezes after removing the HDMI cable or changing settings

  I'm using an fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 and I'm having some problems with HDMI. I usually use it with my TV, but since the update isn't working any more. Sometimes in 11.10 I had to execute a script to get the video and sound to work in HDMI, but it was OK. Since the update, when I connect the HDMI cable, it works, but if I make any change in the display settings (like resolution, monitor position, etc,) it freezes. And if I don't change anything, it's working in both monitors, but when I remove the cable, it freezes and even the ctrl+alt+f2 shortcut works. Any ideas for fixing this? I Googled and only found many people having problems, usually with sound.

• Ubuntu 12.04 keeps rebooting after changing video settings

  In a pinch I had to install Ubuntu 12.04 on an HP Pavilion g6. I was not fond of the 1024 x 7678 resolution so after investigating and finding I had the intel chipset I set the below in the grub file: GRUB_GFXMODE=1366x768x32 GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1366x768x32 This did not work. The system just keeps rebooting as nauseum. I powered down, inserted my Ubuntu Install USB, powered up, edited the Grub file on the disk (made sure it was the disk and not the Grub for the USB stick). Powered off and tried booting up again. Same thing. So: As a noob am I missing something in the boot to allow me into a recovery mode? (I cannot seem to get to the Grub menu) If not is there a way I can recover from this? UPDATE: Holding down the shift key after BIOS gets "GRUB Loading..." and then a reboot

  I would like to increase the FPS of my project. Currently I would like to try reducing the resolution at which the scenes are rendered. Let's say I never want to draw more than 1280*720. What ever the real resolution is. How should I proceed? I tried pEGLView->setFrameSize(1280, 720); but only reduces the displayed size of the frame on screen (boxing).   I want to give Gnome-Shell the highest priority, but I couldn't change the priority on the System Monitor, an error messeage says: Can't change priority's process with pid 2841 to -5. Access denied I tried the following commands: gksu gnome-system-monitor But I can't find Gnome-Shell on the processes list, so I tried "renice command", like this: sudo renice -15 2841 And finally got this problem, the Gnome-Shell's PID always changes, it's not the same PID numbers, so I have to change the priority every time I start up my system.   I have a dual monitor setup, but I am sure it's the same with a single monitor. If I have two applications open, one is vim, the other is google chrome. Lets say the focus is on vim. If I switch to another workspace (ie. alt3) then switch back to that workspace (ie. alt1) now the focus is on google chrome. This process toggles indefinitely so long as I don't transition too quickly. Is there any way to prevent/disable this?

  Possible Duplicate: Change host / keep emails OK here's the situation...I'm trying to transfer my domain and email address to a new hosting service and I would like to start using Google's domain apps for my email, etc. My email address is currently on a WebMail type platform and when I move my domain and start using Google domain apps I would also like to keep the old emails and have them imported the the email address on Google. Note: The email address will be the same on both hosts. For example [email protected]. So its keeping the same address between two different systems. I've been Googling how to do this for awhile and all the migrate options that come up don't appear in the the Google inbox setting or domain apps config settings. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  I have an external hard drive (Seagate Free Agent) that I normally download files to. I have a dual boot Ubuntu 11.10 along with Windows 7-64 bit. I can read all of my files in my external HD perfectly, but when I attempt to do a download of a file to this drive, I get an "unable to write because of read only" disk error. When I attempt to change the permissions of the disk through the "Properties" bar, I still get an error that I don't have the proper permissions to change permissions. I have heard of "mounting" the disk, but I am afraid of mistakenly reformatting and destroying all the data that I have currently on that drive. How best should I safely change the permissions on that drive so that I can write and download files to the drive?? The drive is listed under /dev/sdc1.

• Changing the Operating System with only Ubuntu installed

  I really wanted to dive into the world of Open Source operating systems, so I downloaded the latest version of Ubuntu (13.10), and installed it on a clean(no operating system installed, absolutely nothing) Lenovo ThinkPad machine. After a few days, I wanted to try out a different Operating System (Elementary OS). I downloaded the ISO file, burned it to a USB, tested that the USB booted from a different computer (I have 2, one is the Lenovo, the other a HP). I was able to get the bootscreen, and everything worked like a charm after I set the BIOS to boot from USB Disk Drive instead of HD. After this, I went back to Lenovo, and tried to open up the boot menu, by pressing F12, so that I could load from a temporary device. To my surprise, nothing but the HD was listed. There was no Optical Drive, No USB Drive, absolutely nothing. So, I thought that these devices were probably disabled. So I went into my BIOS and checked to see what was the case. I saw that all my devices were enabled. USB and all the other devices such as network cable and the rest were all enabled. So, I thought this probably had something to do wit UEFI and Legacy Boot options. So, I made sure that both were enabled. This did not solve the problem either. Again, I got nothing but the option to boot from my Hard Disk. I thought the USB had to be at fault. I tried different ports, but to no avail. Next, I tried with a Live CD, which had Ubuntu on it. This failed too. I simply could not boot from anything other than my hard disk. Okay, so at this point, I was pretty desperate, so I installed Boot-Repair through: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install boot-repair What this did is lead me to GRUB. Ideally, its just a screen that gives me the option to load from Ubuntu or Advanced Settings. The Advanced settings had nothing but Ubuntu options in it. So, I kept on pressing ESC and that led me to the the grub console, and thats where I am right now with my Lenovo. I've also tried updating the BIOS, but Lenovo only has packages for Red Hat and Windows. So, a dead end there too. Right now, I need to know if there is any way that I can just delete everything from my Lenovo? I want to revert it back to its blank factory condition. How can I achieve this? I have tried to elaborate my problem as best I could. If there is any important information that I've missed out, please do not hesitate to leave a comment. I would have included some screen shots, but BIOS screen shots are a little hard to manage. However, I can provide a camera Image of the boot screen if needed (doing that as we speak).

  I've been using PHP-5.4.3 for about a month now, and today, I decided to make a switch to PHP-5.5.5, I downloaded the source code, and placed it in C:/php (also renaming the folder php-5.5.5 to php) and I added server variables, as usual C:/php/ <-- but here I got stuck. Because, usually I appended the php.exe at the end, which was found inside the PHP folder so, I could be able to access PHP from the command line, or start the built-in server, but now, I can't find this file, and I can't find a way to start the server from the command line either. Anyone help.

• SSH refusing connection after changing default port

  currently I'm handling 2 server (A and B). In server A I installed Ubuntu 12.10. I changed the SSH port into 1198 and it works fine. In server B it has been installed with Ubuntu 11.04. I tried to change the port number into 1198 as well but it refused the connection when I tried to connect again using Putty. I change the SSH configuration on /etc/ssh/sshd_config and I did restart the SSH using sudo service ssh restart. I was thinking its because of firewall allowed port but the firewall shows inactive when I run sudo ufw status. Any idea why this can happened?
