• Outlook connected to exchange does not send email

  I have multiple machines with Outlook 2010 connected to RackSpace hosted exchange server. Everything works fine, but emails send after a while since outlook started will not leave the outbox. Clicking Send & Receive will display the progress bar at 100% completed with no errors, but is not really finishing. The Cancel All button is still active. The emails in the outbox are bold & italic, so ready to be send. When I close outlook and start it again, the mails are sent immediately without problems. I have tried the following: Checked if there are any third party addins: only Microsoft Add ins Checked if the virus scanner is blocking anything, but McAfee is not doing this. Checked and Repaired the .ost file Increased the server time-out from 30 seconds to 60 seconds Nothing helped. Any suggestions?

• Connected to internet but can't browse after trying to remove Covenant Eyes

  I recently got a MacBook Pro. It connects to ethernet\wifi and has internet but when I open Safari or Firefox, nothing happens. I get a timeout for all websites. I had Covenant Eyes on my Mac before and tried to remove it. My friends who work with computers have tried everything (ping, nslookup etc). Network diagnostics show no problems I can see I'm connected through ifconfig because I get an IP. I also get a response pinging www.google.gr. There are no proxies set in my Network preferences. Any ideas?

• Moving a window from a disconnected monitor to connected monitor on Vista

  I have a laptop that runs Vista Mega Ultimate Amazing for Business 64-bit. When at work, I connect a monitor via USB (which totally rocks) to the "left" of the laptop monitor. It's identified as monitor 3. At home, I use an old CRT monitor that sits to the right of the laptop monitor. It's monitor 2. Monitor 1 is, of course, the inbuilt laptop monitor. Now at home I open a window, any window, on monitor 2. Then I come to work and plug in monitor 3. Anything I had open on monitor 2 is now stuck in unretrievable land. (Actually, it's probably anything that was minimised when I left home that belonged on monitor 2 will expand back onto monitor 2, even though it's disconnected) How can I get those windows back onto connected monitors?

• PC does not recognize XBox 360 controller connected through Play & Charge Kit

  I wanted to hook up my wireless XBox 360 controller to my PC running windows 7. I'm trying to use the Play & Charge kit since I already had that laying around. I plugged it in and Windows recognize it and installed it. It registers in Device Manager as "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit". The controller also has the 1st quadrant lit. However, I can't seem to make this work with any games. I installed the "Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories" kit from MS website, and I run the Accessories Status app and it doesn't recognize that the controller is connected. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong out there?

• Ubuntu 9.10 freezes when HDMI port is connected

  Hi, I have a Sony Vaio FW350 with a HDMI output. I'm trying to use it under Ubuntu 9.10 with a LG LCD monitor 21,5'. I've tried two approaches: Boot the laptop with the HDMI cable connected and monitor turned on. Result: LCD Monitor keeps turned on but the whole screen is black and Ubuntu do not seem to be initializing. Boot Ubuntu until the end. I then connect the HDMI cable into the Laptop. The mouse and the whole system freezes. In both cases the only way to turn off the laptop is holding the power button. I've looked around the internet for similar problems, but only found workarounds for the same problem with VGA input, not HDMI. I also tried to use metacity before connecting the cable, but still got the same result. Any hints?

• Samsung TV connected to PC for Powerpoint

  I have a 42" Samsung LCD TV connected to a Dell computer with a PCI Radion 9000 via a 35' VGA cable. It's purpose is to run power point presentations over the TV for our retail store. I have tried every combination of button clicking on the video card options, and everything on the TV, and I still get black bars on the top and bottom of the image. It looks like I am watching a old wide screen movie on a full screen TV. The TV's suggested resolution is 1024x768, and that is what the output is set to. I have tried this with a nVida PCI card as well with the same results.

• Radeon hd 5700 monitor blank until connected HDMI device is started

  Have win7, radeon hd 5700. When both PC monitor and HDMI device (Onkyo 607) are connected to Radeon card, the monitor diplays boot info, "starting windows, etc" but goes blank when "log into windows" should appear. Monitor comes back (w normal screen) if Onkyo and TV are turned on, not before. Multiple monitors is disabled. Really crazy. Any help appreciated. Generally, Onkyo can pick up HDMI signal ok, so at least smth works as intended.

• sendmail: Transport endpoint is not connected

  A few days ago my mail server (fedora 10, running sendmail 8.14.3) started getting "Transport endpoint is not connected" messages in the log. It seems to be happening for bigger mail hosts (hotmail, gmail, aol, etc). The errors started happening about the same time I upgraded clamav ... so I just tried downgrading clamav to the previous version, but the error keeps happening. I was dubious anyways ... why a milter would effect sendmail's ability to connect with a remote server was beyond me. If I force the mail queue's to run, the messages are delivered normally. I had this happen once before ... and I thought it was related to a milter I had configured but wasn't using ... but that milter is not in use at all now. Any suggestions?

• It takes a long time until windows xp recognize I connected USB diks

  Hello IT guys, I have a problem with my new USB disk. When I connect it to my laptop with Windows XP SP2 it takes about 4-5min until Windows recognized it and show it as a new disk. I can also see (disk's LED is blinking) that something is scaning the disk when I connect it, when this is done Windows imediately recognize it. Also when I'm copying data to this disk the speed is about 3.5MB/sec. It's connected using USB2.0. I tried to check for spyware (using spybot), also run windows in safe mode. But still have the same problems. Do you have any idea what could help to solve this problem? On Windows Vista (another laptop) everything is ok, disk loads in about 15sec and speed is about 20-30MB/sec. Thanks a lot for every advice!

• Keeping the wireless connected.

  I’m running OpenBSD on a computer which is connected via wireless to the network. It is a well supported NIC and I’ve had no problems with it from a hardware perspective. Unfortunately my wireless access point occasionally loves to forget it’s settings. I then have to help it remember. However, in this intervening time my OpenBSD box drops the connection and then does not automatically reconnect. I have alleviated my problems by running this simple script in the background: #!/bin/sh while [ 1 ] do ping -c1 192.168.1.254 > /dev/null if [ $? = 1 ] then sh /etc/netstart ral0 > /dev/null fi sleep 30 done [Ping the access point. If there is no response attempt to reconnect.] It seems to me to be a very suboptimal solution. Has anyone else come across a better way?

• Connect to server in VMWare player while host is not connected to a network

  Hello, I have a linux server VM on my host machine using VMWare player and if I'm on a network, I can connect to the web server on the VM via a web browser. However, I tried to do the same while I was disconnected from a network and I couldn't. The networking is set to Host-only and I did use dhclient/ifconfig to make sure that yes, I did have an IP address assigned to the VM. While I can work around this, the purpose of the VM is to allow us to demo our app from any machine and that machine may not be connected to a network. Thanks.

• My microphone is too quiet (seems to be connected with Skype)

  I've been chatting with skype for a long time.. and I don't know why, but for X time it's fine, and then it's too quiet.. Here how it goes : I'm booting the PC - getting into a skype call with friends - talking with friends on skype - (everything goes well) - Closing the skype call - Going back to a skype call like a hour after -. They can't hear me well, I have to shout so they'll hear me, and in the settings, it's on 100% + 30 DECIBELS, so I can't raise it higher... and if I'll re-boot my PC, it'll be well until I'll close the skype call again.. Every time I'm skyping with friends well, and then when I close the call and come back after a while, they hear me really low(volume).. I've been trying to fix this problem for about 2 months! If you'll be able to help me, I'd be so happy. (btw It's connected not through USB, but through a microphone connection and headphone connection...) Also, I got Windows 7..

• [C++] Write connected components of a graph using Boost Graph

  I have an file that is a long list of weighted edges, in the following form node1_id node2_id weight node1_id node3_id weight and so on. So one weighted edge per line. I want to load this file into boost graph and find the connected components in the graph. Each of these connected components is a subgraph. For each of these component subgraphs, I want to write the edges in the above-described format. I want to do all this using boost graph. This problem is in principle simple, it's just I'm not sure how to implement it neatly because I don't know my way around Boost Graph. I have already spent some hours and have code that will find the connected components, but my version is surely much longer and more complicated that necessary---I'm hoping there's a boost-graph ninja out there that can show me the right, easy way.

  Hello, I'm looking for possible solutions to the following need: I have a VPN configured (using openVPN over Linux, BTW), and I want to know at any moment which hosts are connected to it. I recognize that it probably is the same thing as trying to know which hosts are connected to a lan, so any of the solutions might do the job... The fact is that I once used a hamachi vpn on linux and with it I had the chance to know which hosts were connected to a particular network where I belonged, so I was wondering if something similar might be possible in openVPN (or even any VPN and/or any LAN). Preferably, I'm looking for opensource/free sw solutions, or maybe the hints to program it myself (in the most simple way if possible, not that I don't know how to program, but I'm trying to achieve this in a simple manner). To check if an instance of B is already connected to a given instance of A, we could perform an easy INNER JOIN but this will only ensure the already persisted relations. What about the current transient relations? class A { @OneToMany private List<B> listOfB; } If we access the listOfB and perform a check of contains() this will fetch all the connected instances of B lazy from the datasource. I only want to validate them by their primary-key. Is there an easy solution where I can do things like "Does this instance of A is connected with this instance of B?" Without loading all these data into memory and perform a based on collections?

  We had a requirement to build a ASP.NET 3.5 web application using web forms, WCF, ADO.NET and SQL Server. The users would connect via Internet. Recently we understood that it is possible that users would often remain disconnected and would have Internet access intermittently. I need to understand if we can create occasionally connected web application using asp.net 3.5 - what all technologies/features we need to use? Is MS Sync Framework the answer to the problem - is it a viable option to use with web application? Is windows application the right approach instead of web applications - where the business logic would be run at the client itself, using local SQL Express editions with data then been synced up with Enterprise SQL server at server end when connection is established using replication and/or MS Sync framework. In that case is there a need to use WCF? Does Silverlight applications help in this context -building paritally connected web apps? Really appreciate if you can give pointers to how to go about this task of creating .net partially connected apps (not mobile apps)?

  Hi All, Is there an elegant way to make a program detect a new computer that is connected to the network? I would like my program to "auto-sense" a new computer being connected on the network (they're on the same network). Like a USB device being connected to the computer. What I'm doing now is to save a list of all computers in the network from time to time. Another approach is to PING all available IPs on the subnet. Are there any other elegant approaches? Thanks!

• SSTP client disconnects shortly after successfully connected to VPN

  I'm successfully authenticating and connecting to a SSTP VPN (on windows 2008) from my windows 7 machine, but for some reason, the connection is disconnected about a 1-2 seconds after it's established. I've done the following: Defined a SSTP VPN on my windows server 2008. Defined the same machine as CA. Issued the needed certificates and published them on the client. I'm currently testing this VPN inside my LAN so all the needed ports are opened. Here are the event log entries when trying to connect: Error Log (Client): The user HOME\User dialed a connection named Home VPN which has terminated. The reason code returned on termination is 829. Error Log (Server-VPN): The user HOME\User connected on port VPN0-0 on 7/27/2012 at 1:57 AM and disconnected on 7/27/2012 at 1:57 AM. The user was active for 0 minutes 0 seconds. 312 bytes were sent and 4528 bytes were received. The reason for disconnecting was user request. What would be the issue? How can I resolve or debug it? UPDATE: I've found an event log (Log=System, Source=RasSstp) message on the windows 7 machine that tries to connect to the VPN: The SSTP-based VPN connection to the remote access server was terminated because of a security check failure. Security settings on the remote access server do not match settings on this computer. Contact the system administrator of the remote access server and relay the following information: SHA1 Certificate Hash: 065D681...520375552F SHA256 Certificate Hash: 18DED363...EEEE28CFD00

• Intel Wireless 4965AGN not achieving N throughput when connected to an Airport Express N network

  I have an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adaptor in my laptop (HP Pavillion dv2000 series) which is connecting to a 5Ghz-only 802.11n network provided by an Apple Airport Express. The network is using WPA2 encryption. My desktop is also connected the Airport, via a Linksys WUSB600N USB adaptor. Both are running with the latest drivers, and the Airport is running the latest firmware. The Airport is also configured to use wide channels. The problem I have is that I never get throughput above 4MB/s when transferring files between the two machines. Even a pessimistic calculation shows a 270Mbps network as being capable of transfer rates at well above 10MB/s. I'm pretty sure I've isolated the issue to being the Intel adaptor, as wiring the desktop to the AP, and using the Linksys adaptor on the laptop immediately yielded speeds limited by the 100MB/s ethernet connection. I know that 802.11n is still a draft standard, and so mixing kit from different manufacturers can easily lead to poor results, but I was just wondering if anybody else out there has had success with this Intel adaptor on an N network? Or even better, connecting it to an Airport Express? Can anybody give me any advice on how to troubleshoot this issue? I should also mention that the Airport Express doesn't allow you to manually specify channels when running in N mode, and that I've been able to rule out interference from other Wireless LANs by scanning. There aren't any other 5GHz networks in my area. All ideas welcome! Update: A while later, I've just updated to the most recent drivers for both the Intel chip in the laptop, and the USB adaptor. Unfortunately this hasn't improved things :(. If anybody has any advice it would be be gratefully received.

• Can't connect to LAN when connected to D-Link DIR-615

  I'm have a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router. I didn't use the CD it comes with to set up the network. Instead I configured it manually through the router's settings that are accessed via a web browser. The main changes I made are: Secured the router so that a password is required before clients can use the wireless internet. Broadcasting 802.11N only (not B or G). I can connect to the router just fine and I'm able to access the internet. The only problem is that I don't see any of the other computers in my LAN. When I try connecting to another Wi-Fi router that I have (which is connected to the same network), I can see all of the computer's on my LAN just fine. Therefore, I'm guessing that the reason I can't connect to the LAN is not a problem with my computer and is a problem with the router instead. I'm on a MacBook Air running Mac OS X 10.6.6. I tried contacting D-Link technical support, but they only try to help you if you have problems connecting to the internet. They aren't really concerned with problems that have to do with the accessing PC's on the same network.

• Outlook users connected to exchange can email from other email accounts

  We have found an issue on our systems whereby an outlook user (both 2007 and 2010) connected to our Exchange server (2007) can send emails as other users using the following steps Within Outlook Click <New Email> Select the <From> button to show a list of accounts outlook contains, but it also shows the option Select<Other Email Address>. This brings up a small dialog box with another button which when selected allows the user to select an email from their contacts or the Active Directory. The user in most cases can select any email within the Active Directory and send an email as if it were coming from that selected email. It seems not everyone has this ability and I'm guessing it is something to do with settings in exchange or AD(version 6) or is there a group policy that can be implemented to stop users being able to do this. We have no idea what allows this and I have failed to find anything using Dr Google. No one has setup delegates within outlook but it does seem to be something similar? Does anyone know how to lock this down? Thanks in advance

• laptop motherboard "shorts" when connected to adapter

  Disclaimer: I'm sort of a noob, and this is a long post. Thank you all in advance! summary: completely dead laptop with no signs of life whatsoever (suddenly, for no apparent reason) Here's the deal: Lenovo Y470 (only a few months old with no water or shock damage). It stopped working suddenly (no lights, no sound, even when connecting adapter with or without battery). I tried a different adapter (same electrical rating), but no luck. I disassembled the thing completely, and tried plugging in the adapter and looking for signs of life with all different combinations of components installed (tried all combinations of RAM, CPU, USB power cords, screen, etc plugged in). no luck. Then, I noticed (as I was plugging in the adapter to try for the millionth time) that there was a "spark" for an instant when I first connect the adapter to the power jack. The adapter's LED would then flash (indicating it isn't working or charging). So, I thought the power jack has a short of some sort (due to bad soldering or something). Scanned virtually every single component on the motherboard, and tested the power jack connections with a multimeter. No shorts or damage to anything on the entire motherboard. Now I'm thinking I need to replace the motherboard. But, my actual question: What does this "shorting" when connecting the adapter signify? (btw, the voltage across the power connections and current through it drop to virtually zero when the adapter is connected and "sparks", and they stay that way). The bewildering thing is that there are no damaged components, and the voltage across adapter terminals returns to normal after I disconnect it (so it's not damaged). Please take a look at the pictures (of the motherboard's power connection and nearby components) and see if I'm missing something completely obvious...   Hello, I keep getting the "sorry, the maximum allowed clients from your host (10) are already connected" error whenever I try to transfer a large number of files. At first I thought it's a filezilla bug, however I get the same error basically with every FTP client I've tried, including Total Commander under Wine. I do not get that error using Windows. I did try to limit maximum allowed connections for Filezilla, both in server settings and in global settings, it didnt change anything. I did try to switch between passive and active modes (not sure if it's related at all, just last desperate attempt), and it didnt change anything either. When I try to use native ftp client (not sure how is it called, the one in Places - Connect to a server) I get abstract "connection refused" error every time I transfer large number of files. Connection is refused for separate particular files, if I click "Ignore" each time the rest of files are transfered perfectly well, so I assume it's the very same error. Anything I could do? This really drives me mad, transfering large numbers of files is a part of my everyday job... P.S. and this happens with many different FTP servers. Also I dont get this error in Windows. So I assume it's not a server problem. P.P.S. I am aware of similar question here, the answer provided just didn't solve it to me.

  Installed opscenterd on the separate node outside of the cluster, but within firewall ( aws security group ). Tested all possible ports between agents and opcenter server.
